Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

OP posts:

NotAnother Glad your potty training is going well, and that your DH is looking after you. What film did you see?

My DS had his first nappy free outing today. I'm feeling very proud that he kept dry all day and even did a poo in the toilet too. I must write it down in his baby book so I can embarress him in years to come.
I just about managed to contain my excitement at work this afternoon and managed to refrain from telling everyone about it, had to keep saying in my head "they don't want to know about your son's poo" Blush Grin

Petalouda · 05/03/2011 21:47

Quiet day?

My lovely best mates turned my house into a tea rooms for a birthday tea/baby shower. It was amazing! Not overboard on the baby stuff, which was great!

We've got a kitchen full of leftover cakes tho! Oh well!

I don't understand how I can be so exhausted after an afternoon eating in my own house!

ecuse · 05/03/2011 22:56

Hello all

Bit behind as we've had guests for a few days, so been busy. Fun, though. I managed to stay out at a party until 2am, so feeling particularly proud of myself. Granted, it mostly involved me sitting on a sofa like a beached whale drinking bitter lemon and beckoning people over to talk to me, but still I feel like I might not totally have 'lost it'!

Also feeling quite smug due to some successful matchmaking activity between former flatmate and DP's brother. Just call me cupid. I might as well get entertainment out of shagging as I too can't really be bothered at all any more.

Question of the day: belly buttons. Whose have popped? What proportion of people with innies do 'pop' during pregnancy and when do they go?

Mine hasn't yet, but is getting suspiciously shallow at 33+4.

stuffedmk · 05/03/2011 23:25

My belly button never popped with DS and I don't think it will with this one either. Getting fairly shallow but am 35+5 so will be surprised now Grin
Hip is still giving me trouble but it improved a reasonable amount (ie I could actually sleep last night) after a two hour soak in the bath....kept having to top up the hot water lol. I was so shrivelled when I got out but it was total bliss.

Just eaten half a tube of pringles Blush wasn't even enjoying them, just couldn't stop Wink

MrsWajs · 06/03/2011 00:15

Nope still sporting an 'innie' of sorts here too :) althought to be fair there isn't much 'in' about it it! I have a suspicion it might go in a week or two but am 33weeks today so hoping not!!

Thanks for your responses re: thrush & varicose veins, am going to speak to midwife about it and see what she says. I've heard various places that you can use the pessary but not the applicator so am not sure - mixed messages! GP is probably just being overcautious!! If I can use it then I will be and hopefully get rid of this annoyance sooner rather than later!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/03/2011 00:31

Why am I not asleep, I'm knackered! 37 weeks today (Saturday) - full term!

I have shopped until I almost literally dropped today. Buggy board, a few newborn bits, some new toys and puzzles for the baby to give to DS and various other bits and bobs.
DH is taking DS out for the day tomorrow though so I shall have peace and quiet at home, and probably sleep for most of it!

My belly button has almost turned inside out, it looks really weird but thankfully isn't sticking out through my clothes - always freaks me out to see that on other people for some reason!!

Liv77 - please can you send your son over here to talk to mine?? He is stubbornly resisting potty training, he just will not get interested - grrr Angry

Petalouda · 06/03/2011 08:29

Wow, I'm impressed with all you endurance skills! I feel about 100yrs old at the mo! I couldn't imagine doing this with other children to look after.

Belly button's still just v shallow here. Although I suspect it's starting to go.

Ali if I'm this impatient at 37+2, how bad is it going to get when I'm still waiting in 4+ weeks?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 06/03/2011 09:10

Petal - I will be honest, with DS I nearly went out of my mind. It was the middle of summer and I was so hot and uncomfortable, I would have done anything to get him out.
I actually think that when it is your first it is worse, because you have nothing to take your mind off the impending arrival! Life still has to go on for DS, which prevents me from just sitting around pondering about when the baby might turn up!

With this one, I'm booked in for an ELCS 3 weeks tomorrow - so that's D-Day for me and I'm so glad!

Cyclebump · 06/03/2011 09:20

I really thought my belly button was going to pop but it's just stayed shallow for ages!

The scar from where I had it pierced many years ago makes it look like I have two and I have got serious stretch marks that have suddenly appeared around my button. Sad

Kitchen is still not done but at least I can now do washing. Phew!

Petal that shower sounds lovely!

JenAT · 06/03/2011 10:11

Wow, another busy week on this thread.

Gormers belated congratulations on the birth of Eva. Lovely name.

I'm loving the yoda ball. Just managed to find mine in the shed and got DH to blow it up. Not actually sat on it yet though, it's just taking up space in the lounge.

Cycle ,hope your kitchen is finished soon. Just think how lovely it will be when its all completed.

MrsWajs as far as I know it's fine to use the pessary for thrush as the cream isn't really getting to the source of the problem iyswim. As long as you insert the pessary carefully I can't see how it could cause a problem. Re varicose veins, on legs try and get gp to prescribe support stockings (above knee ) and wear during day.
Re vulval varicosities, they are pretty common, unsightly but will disappear after baby is born. I have heard they can be very uncomfortable though.

Well, I have finished work now. 36 weeks tomorrow, probably could have carried on a bit longer but getting exhausted by doing 10hr days with 30+mins driving either side. No time to put my feet up though. I need to finish painting the nursery, get carpet, make a start on decorating dd room, and sort out washing dds old babygros etc. Probably should also think about throwing together some kind of hospital bag. Can I win a prize for being most disorganised?? I am getting very grumpy about the house still being in a tip 1 month after moving. I think it's the nesting instinct wanting everything just right and all neat and tidy.

I have been trying to prepare dd (aged 3) for the new arrival, as I think we may have a major jealousy problem brewing, so bought some books to read to her. "there's a house inside my Mummy" is lovely and I burst into tears when i read it the first time. She announced she also has a baby in her tummy and also a dog called Paul and a cat called Goldilocks, who will all come out when Mummy's baby arrives. Well she does have a very vivid imagination....

My belly button is stretched to capacity and almost completely flat. Suddenly developed major stretchmarks on boobs and tummy, nipples massive, pubic hair like a bloody forest (and cannot even see it to attempt some kind of maintenance), getting up to wee in night every 2 hours or less, and apparently snoring like a pig according to DH. What an attractive specimen I am. Think my bloom has now well and truely wilted!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/03/2011 10:25

My belly button hasn't popped and didn't in my previous pregnancies either, so next expecting it to this time.

I think (touch wood) that ds will be ok with me and the baby, however when it comes to dh holding the baby I think there is going to be a huge case of the green eyed monster.

ecuse - congratulation on being hardcore while drinking bitter lemon Grin

DH and I had a lovely night away on Friday. No frantic shagging though as I had an hour of contractions in the night Shock. Luckily they went away when I got up and walked around the room. I am defo sure that they weren't BH's though. This baby CANNOT be early.

BeetleBaby · 06/03/2011 10:46

Petal I think you should share those leftover cakes around. I'll make the Brew. I'm glad you enjoyed your shower. Smile

Jen I know how you feel, what attractive beasts we all are?! Wink. I got all the bits and bobs out for some trimming of the lady forest, after 10 minutes of trying to reach/bend round/contort myself/strategically place mirrors I just gave up! I figure it's going to be a little while yet before I can see down there, and if I can't see it I can pretend it isn't really overgrown!

My tummy button seems to be fluctuating between flat and outie depending on how the baby is lying. Totally freaking out DH with it's bizzarness Grin I have noticed that my tummy button skin is very, very soft though, I quite like stroking it Hmm

My SPD is really, really bad at the moment. I'm barely sleeping because I get so much pain in my hips no matter how many pillows I use! Last night I was sat with a bag of frozen peas on my front and and frozen butternut squash on my coxcyx (sp?) which took some of the pain away and the swelling down. I can't wait to be able to walk and move normally. If I drop anything at the moment it stays where it fell till DH can pick it up because I just can't get to floor level and back up without help!

Right better get dressed, I'm awaiting delivery of our reusable nappies. I'm far too excited Grin

Petalouda · 06/03/2011 11:52

Beetle There's plenty for everyone! Right, head to Devon, and I'll give you directions from the bottom of the M5!

Which reusable nappies are you getting?

My friend's 18month old is still in her size 2's, they've loved using them! (She's using Bambino Mio).

Cyclebump · 06/03/2011 11:59

beetle you're not alone, I too have stroked my freakishly soft belly button, as has DP.

I haven't even ordered my reusables yet but must sort it soon. I think I'm going for the BumGenius ones.

Have just been out for around two hours, we went for breakfast then walked for AGES. Am now completely wiped out. Yawn!

SaltedPretzels · 06/03/2011 15:42

Hello April Family, big group hugs

Wow wee loads of chat (normal)
Lots of chat about poo, sicky mattresses, urine infections, thrush treatments including danone on tampons lol (normal)

Yes glad to see we are all 'normal'

Well Bettle maybe not so much! What are you thinking when you go into the fruit ad veg aisle lmao xx I too have a form of SPD, they are treating me for SPD although they believe I fractured my pelvis, they can't do anything until bump is born so for now it's weekly physio, painkillers and rest. Silky PJ's as someone mention are good as is the bag on the car seat or if you have leather seats, I use my bump belt to shimmy in and out.

After digesting my lunch, grilled butternut (NOT FROM FROZEN lol) squash, roasted sweet potatoes and baked feta, I'm laughing at how not put off reading all the TMI's bits I am.

Ecuse LOL at suspiciously shallow belly button Grin, mine popped out about 30 weeks with my girls however I had a laparoscopy after DD2 which leaves a horizontal scar at the top of the belly button so this time it is trying hard to do something but it's confused as to whether it should pop out and over the scar or up and under Smile Wow to 2am I only see that time when I need a wee!

Kits Glad your home and things have settled a little, shame about the prolonged hospital food Smile

Lis Ranitidine (long way back but missed MN for weeks so having major catch up today) you can take a couple of rennies or swig of gaviscon if it's really bad just not on a regular basis. I find a pint of milk does the trick although it takes about 20 minutes to kick in.

Gormers My word, a girl, so tiny! I'm really happy to hear your both doing exceptionally well considering how early she was and your BP. Take care and keep us updated xx

JenAT That last paragraph had me in stitches, sad to say it's the glamorous side of pregnancy again lol Your DD sounds sweet, although I'd hate to give birth to a cat, OUCH!!!

Cycle The walk and breakfast sound lovely for a Sunday morning x

Hi Chips welcome to the family! Don't forget to add your stats, I'd give you the link but I'm not that o fay with how it works Blush

MuffinMouse · 06/03/2011 15:55

Hi Salted - it's been ages. So long that I never seem to post only read!

Sorry to hear about your pelvis - ouch!!! When do they think it happened? (Is it my imagination, or did you fall over when it last snowed?..)

MuffinMouse · 06/03/2011 16:02

Mrs Wajs I meant to add that you can def use the thrush pessary as the maternity unit gave me one to use when I was admitted recently. (I think the advice used to be not to, but it must have changed). Hope you are ok after your fall, I was panciking just reading your post!

The change in colour might be due to the thrush too....?

Cyclebump · 06/03/2011 17:16

I am SO uncomfortable! I feel like baby will actually fall out when I stand and he keeps rolling over and then kicking my ribs. Have tried sitting on the ball and had a long walk this morning so have been a good pg lady in that respect, I just wish I knew what on earth he was doing in there!

Aaaaargh!

chipsahoynicki · 06/03/2011 17:39

Thanks Salted, just added my stats now (assuming i did it correctly)

I'm glad to hear we can use pessarys, i'm being driven mad by an itch every night particularly, vagisil isn't helping at all, so pessary and cream i think is the way to go.

I feel for you cycle, it's so uncomfortable when baby turns. I've no clue the position of this one, some times i get kicks up high, other times think i can feel his head sticking out.. so no idea, but he seems to move position a lot.

Has anyone got split abdominal muscles? Mine happened in the last pregnancy, my midwife said no heavy lifting, but with a 3yr old who frequents tantrums in public, i often find i have to carry DS over my shoulder to the car!

Re useables are great, we used tots bots for about 2 yrs, although i never got them to be leak proof at night.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 06/03/2011 18:00

I don't have any experience of the split abdo muscles chips, but I do have experience of throwing a tantruming toddler over your shoulder. I'm sure ds (2.6) is aware that I'm not as quick on my feet as I was - grrrrrrrr.

For those of you with thrush, especially if you've had it for a while, I really really suggest that when you put the pessery in, start a no yeast, low sugar diet for a week. This will give your body the best chance to get rid of the infection. I have learnt this this hard way.

JustKeepSwimming · 06/03/2011 18:08

Yes to split muscles, they split with DS1 and have never been right since. I also have to lug a tantrumming 3 year old around sometimes.
Have heard that pilates, once you've finished having babies, is the way to go :)

Totally knackered today, went for a float swim this morning and put some washing on and that's it, yet i'm worn out. 34 weeks today, roll on 37!

kitstwins · 06/03/2011 19:29

Crap. Spoke too soon. Back in hospital this afternoon with bleeding and period pain. Who knows what is happening but it feels a bit bloody habitual for my liking. Will keep you posted. In hospital overnight (my girls are v upset about it all although thankfully not freaked by the blood - they obviously barged in whilst I was on the loo!). It's never dull at least...

Cyclebump · 06/03/2011 19:30

Oh no Kits!

Hope all ok x

kittycatcat · 06/03/2011 19:49

Thinking of you kits x

lucielooo · 06/03/2011 20:21

Hope everything is ok kits how many weeks are you now?
