Hello Ladies :) I think I can finally officially post here, lurked a bit but didn't have the confidence to join you :) This is my second pregnancy, had a MMC last Nov so was very nervous over the past months, am 9+4 weeks and just came back from a scan - saw the bean and a strong flickering heartbeat Grin so calmed down a bit :)

Hope I can share the ups and downs with you lovely ladies and will try to catch up on the thread now ;)

apples82 · 22/03/2011 12:35

Congrats monkeybubbles, very very good news Smile.

Welcome beesok, good news for you too.

A good news day!!!

rebelwithoutababy · 22/03/2011 12:45

Yay for your little wriggler monkeybubbles! Welcome to all the newbies. I think we should make a rule that if scan dates mean any of us are no longer due in October we can stay anyway: my seat is lovely and warm and I for one don't want to give it up! Spoke to DH last night and you ladies were right...he is just trying not to get too excited before scan, and says he has just been focusing on making sure I'm okay, and hasn't really been able to take in that there is a little bean in there too...all better so thanks for your good advice xx

mumtobee · 22/03/2011 12:55

Yes - lovely day here on the bus!! Sun is shining and lots of happy mummies to be!

Excellent news monkeybubbles - phew!!

Beesok - Good to have you onboard!

I've been chasing up my scan date at the hospital -if it's going to be during the next week (which is likely as I could be 12 and a half weeks by then) then they will call me today - so just waiting for the call....

kateepie2 · 22/03/2011 13:01

Phew! So pleased for you monkeybubbles ! Its a bit of a weird experience isn't it? Grin

I agree - once you're on the bus, you're on it (no escape mwa ha ha ha)

In a good mood as just persuaded friend on another thread to poas and it was positive! So Grin all round!

xx

evansmummy · 22/03/2011 13:05

Hi beesok, and congrats monkeybubbles! Good news all round. Wish it was actually sunny here though. Where's that lovely spring sunshine?!

BabCNesbitt · 22/03/2011 13:11

Brilliant to hear all the good scan news! :)

emmazed · 22/03/2011 13:33

Hello all & congrats monkeybubbles.

i had my scan this morning as well, and all was brilliant. we saw the little one moving and kicking all around. they brought our date forward to 1st October, but as the NHS said 5th Oct i am just going to stick with the 4th in my head i think. otherwise i am not sure which scan to base it on.

They said they think it is a boy, which is also what i was suspecting. one of the scan photos shows something that really looks like a willy!

we went to the FMC for this scan, and they were fantastic. Anyone who is considering it - i would definitely recommend them. very friendly, spent ages with us, we have loads of photos etc. for us worth the money.

Just started to phone up all the family & told all my workmates. it is so amazing to finally be open with everyone.

Good luck for everyone who has their scan this week

mpops · 22/03/2011 14:50

Aw, I'm welling up reading about the scans! Grin I can't wait for ours tomorrow morning but I've been trying to keep busy today and not think about it too much as I'm very nervous. So nice to hear good news!

apples82 · 22/03/2011 15:19

OOh mpops good luck for tomorrow, can't wait to hear your news too! Make sure you get onto MN to update us all Grin.

Beesok · 22/03/2011 15:20

Thanks for the lovely welcome everyone! I am really really bad with remembering nicknames/names etc so pls forgive me :)

Happy to hear about all the good news scans! Fingers crossed for anyone anxiously waiting for theirs - it's the most frustrating thing :) I am having a 12wk one on April 10, but there was no way I was going to wait THAT long :P esp after my past experience......

I finally told my mum and some close friends but not announcing it to the "general public" yet, need to wait till it sinks in properly ;)

Tamashii · 22/03/2011 18:35

Congrats to the new BFP's! More passengers on the busy October bus!!!!

monkeybubbles excellent news. I didn't want to say anything earlier but I had bleeding early in my 1st PG and right up until about 20 weeks on and off. The early bleeding was because I had a cervical ectrosion or ectropian (not sure exactly what it was called) but they said it is caused by being on the pill for a long time (I was on it for about 15 yrs before coming off it and getting PG) and when you get PG cells from inside the uterus can grow on the outside of the cervix so when the PG hormones get to it this can cause the ectrosion to bleed. Not sure if this is medically or technically the way to describe it but it's what I understood from the way they tried to explain things. They couldn't find where the bleeding was coming from so assumed it must have been the ectrosion/ectropian. The later bleeding I had was from low lying placenta which showed up on the scan(s) I had. Just thought I would mention it but again they said that quite a lot of women have early bleeding and they never really know exactly where it came from or why so glad you got to see your active LO jumping around.

I had my 12 week scan too so it was amazing to actually see that there really is a little baby in there. LO was turning around from side to side as if we were disturbing them and he/she had a big stretch of their arms and legs then curled back up and seemed to go back to relaxing which made it hard to get the measurements but it was amazing. As soon as the photos were printed off and the lights were back on it felt like I went back into disbelief mode.

At the booking appt after the scan they said they are highly unlikely to give any treatment for Group B Strep (I had it last PG and was advised the practise back then was to treat further PG with antibiotics during labour just in case) during labour and they won't be testing me for it as it can change from pos to neg week to week. I think I will get privately tested at 36 weeks anyway for my own peace of mind so at least I will know whether I will have to fight for some action on it or not... Don't need any further tension when you're PG do you??? Oh well. What else can I do?

Anyways, hi to everyone on the October bus and it's good to hear all the scan stories.

Tamashii · 22/03/2011 18:38

Sorry - just realised I have more to say Blush

Since we had the scan we decided to tell our families. My Dad didn't take the news too well... He just went silent and sat down then changed the subject. My brother was not bothered and my SIL was quite excited but she knows about 10 PG women just now so I imagine they were thinking "Not another one!" but I was kind of disappointed that my father and bro just kind of brushed it off. DH's family were over the moon but it's not the same as getting a happy reaction out of your own family you know?

Anyway, maybe once things have sunk in a bit they'll be more upbeat.

Penelope1980 · 22/03/2011 19:26

Tamashii that's sad about your Dad and Bro - I would be gutted. Did they react the same last time? My Dad wasn't too over the moon when I told him but as time moved on, he has gotten quite good about seeming excited in the last couple of weeks. I think he just needed to settle it in his mind, esp as he told me later he never thought I'd have kids!

kateepie2 · 22/03/2011 20:17

tamashii glad you had a good scan. Don't worry too much about your Dad, it might have come as a bit of a shock to him. My mum was over the moon, but it has taken about 4 weeks for her (long term) partner to bring himself to speak to me... about anything!

seasaltbaby · 23/03/2011 09:19

Morning all on the bus, sorry haven't had chance to post for ages but love catching up with what's happening when I can,
It's been so lovely to read about your scans, so exciting & glad everyones ok, must be so nerve racking.
I'm 9 weeks on Fri & got my booking in appointment with midwife tomorrow which I'm excited about, although from some of your experiences it could be an anti climax...I'll let y know! I've still not had any major symptoms, just occasional nausea & often v tired. It sounds weird but it does definitely feel that something is growing down there! Trousers are definitely getting little bit snug! Oh and we started my 'bump watch' last wk where every week we take a pic of my growing tummy!
Anyway enough rambling, good luck to all the other scans ladies, let us know how it goes!

apples82 · 23/03/2011 09:34

Good luck with your appointment seasaltbaby, I had mine last week and it went really well, hopefully yours will too.

Blood tests next week Sad.

LittlePebble · 23/03/2011 10:59

Hello everyone waves along the very crowded bus

sorry not posted in a while and thanks you all for your support over my minor melt down last week - I'm feeling much more positive this week and counting down the days until my scan next Thursday . Really nice to hear all your scans are going well (yay monkeybubbles) and lots of good news.

Sorry to hear your family aren't too supportive tamashii at least your DH's family are excited - and we all are here on MN! Grin

When I allow myself to really think about it that i'm going to (fingers crossed) have a baby I get so excited it's such a miracle that my body is creating a whole new being. Grin Grin Grin

LDNmummy · 23/03/2011 11:54

So this is where everyone went!

Its all moving too fast for me to keep up with.

How is everyone today? I haven't posted since I hopped on here, too much RL stuff going on (moving house etc..) to follow properly so couldn't catch up Sad

Hope the sun is shining on everyone today Smile

mpops · 23/03/2011 12:13

Hello everyone!

Just had my scan at King's this morning and everything was great. They did all the measurements and Down's tests and those came out fine (I was really worried because I'm 36 but the risk assessment was good) and baby was moving and dancing around a lot which made us giggle. It was great and we're so relieved! It'll be nice starting to tell people properly now.

tamashii, glad to hear your scan went well too. That's the most important thing! Your dad and brother will get their heads around it eventually. It's difficult for some people to express their feelings I guess, so it might all come out wrong to start with. Enjoy the relief and the happiness of knowing the LO is ok and everything else will fall into place.

apples82 · 23/03/2011 12:27

YAY mpops fantastic news, well done. OOH I am getting so jealous of everyone and their scans, come on come on, I want mine! Grin

lovemylittlebean · 23/03/2011 14:13

Hello everyone!

I'm afraid I'm another who's gonna be stretching this bus a little longer than it's meant to be - had my 12wk scan this morning and they said I'm 13wks already so due on 26th Sept Shock!!

It was so amazing!! Bean was wriggling around all over the place, putting its hand in its mouth even touching its head with its feet! Totally amazing, we couldn't stop laughing!

Tamashii I'm reading this book 'the best friends guide to pregnancy' (v. funny!) and she says that often the hardest people to tell are our Dads because in their eyes we are still their little girls (no matter how old we are) and the idea of his daughter pregnant is just too shocking, but that they come round eventually. I'm sure he'll be loving it in a few weeks.

Hope everyone's getting to enjoy the sun!

apples82 · 23/03/2011 14:30

Aw that sounds so lovely lovemylittlebean, and you're ahead of your date too! Still stay on this bus Smile.

natwebb79 · 23/03/2011 15:53

Hello everybody! I'm due on 25th October according to online calculators, can't wait for my scan on 13th April to see baby and confirm dates! Hope you're all feeling well x

rebelwithoutababy · 23/03/2011 16:08

Am sooo jealous of all your lovely scans, but so great to hear lots of good news! I can't wait til mine: still doesn't seem real, especially as my symptoms have really settled down now: just hunger and total aversion to coffee (which I normally love) left....still, got first appointment with MW on friday, so at least someone else to talk to about worries.....
