Can't believe I'm now 2 weeks overdue and still nothing! Get loads of Braxton Hicks whenever I move around but all dies down as soon as I rest. Just phoned the hospital to try to get a date for induction and they said I was on the list for today - but nobody told me! I've just bought some clary sage oil ready for my bath tonight and I really want to see if these BH contractions develop into anything. Hospital's phoning me back later.I suppose they can't insist I go in right now. I thought the whole point of an induction was that it was planned, not just sprung on you at the last minute!

Feeling more relaxed about being overdue since reading some encouraging birth stories on the internet last night - women going up to 43 weeks 3 days overdue! Still don't want to do that myself though.

Hello ladies. I'm still here with no sign of baby.

Those of you that are almost due or past due - has your baby slowed down any? Whilst it is lovely and I am really enjoying the last few days of tummy (as is DP), he is so active all the time.

I thought they were supposed to quiten down when birth was imminent?

ponto · 18/10/2005 16:54

Movements are much more noticeable now than they were - I guess because baby is bigger so has more muscle power. If they're meant to slow down just before labour I must still be some way off!

grannygoose · 18/10/2005 16:56

MB - "my midwife" is on maternity leave so I have never met her!

I have seen one of the other 3 community midwives for all of my ante - natals and other midwives for the classes too...but they are all sharing the caseload of the missing midwife...so they try to get you in and out quick as you like...no relationship at all. And then it will be someone else at the hospital.

It must be so disappointing for you to hear that your MW is on hols - but maybe the new one will be even nicer than the old one???? Of the 4 I have met, the nicest/most fun wasnt even a MW in my area - she was drafted in to do one of our classes as nobody else was available.

grannygoose · 18/10/2005 16:57

Thank goodness for that Ponto. I keep jumping off the couch - feels like baby is kicking me in the butt from the inside!

Lexie100 · 18/10/2005 17:10

Mine little one wriggles from about 6pm till i go to bed and i mean really wriggles and giggles and jumps about. I get a few movements during the day but not many.

Oh me too with the BH when i'm moving but as soon as i sit nothing. So have walked about 6 miles with the dog today to try and get things going.

My GP wanted to do me a sweep this morning but I wanted to give labour a chance to start naturally first. Now I am wondering if I made the right decision.

I am booked in for a sweep next tuesday and then induction the following friday if I need it.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 18/10/2005 18:05

ooooh Trice, you are so much more controlled than me!

My MW is coming on Sunday to do my sweep (40+2) and then ill probably be booked in the following saturday (41+1) for induction..... My MW knows how much i want this baby out!

I have resigned myself to the fact that I WILL still have bump on sunday for my overdue appointment!

Lexie100 · 18/10/2005 18:21

Finally have my over due appointment tomorrow so get my sweep then. I can't believe you didn't get one Tri you are so much more relaxed than i am.

Hi...RTL checking in..it's lovely to hear everyone a bit more positive. It's funny how we have a flurry of births then nothing for ages.

Me, lexie, trice, hester (where is she), shama and ponto should be any second now eh?

Still no word from Danishmummy, hope all went well, hey MawBroon make sure your dp has orders to tell us how you get on!!!

RTL XXX

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 18/10/2005 19:23

I reckon Hester has dropped and too loved up with the new arrival to worry about us!

Im absolutely shattered, so its going to be an early night for me..... maybe i need a decent rest before this baby decides to come!

elclose · 18/10/2005 20:31

Was just thinking RTL must have popped, then read your post!! So cheesed off just heard from a friend, her sister who is not due until 2 weeks after me has had her baby today, the cheek of some people, but then it is her 4th so she is just banging them out!

nervousmum · 18/10/2005 21:40

Good luck everyone. I know it's frustrating playing the waiting game, but enjoy the time you have before your babies start arriving, as you won't have any time afterwards. Don't mind me, i've just had a really bad afternoon with Joey (read the post-natal thread if you dare!) and i'm feeling a bit hormonal. It is worth all the hard work in the end, honest

Looking forward to all those imminent birth announcements. Take care all, NM x

laurenholly · 18/10/2005 21:45

hi all
i read this thread everyday to see whos had there babies by the way im not having pregeant or planing to have more

i know what its like having to wait to have your baby as my dd1 was 2weeks overdue and my dd2 was 1day overdue only due to the fact that it was the safest time to start me off due to very low blood count nearly died so the started me off then which was good as didnt have to wait much longer

you have to carry the baby for 40 weeks and most woman carry over that time its just really horribal waiting to give birth

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU HOPE YOU ALL HAVE YOUR BABIES NOT TO LONG AFTER YOU DUE DATE

munz · 18/10/2005 22:32

no word from hester on email just yet.

ponto · 18/10/2005 23:14

Was pacing around Asda having loads of tightenings earlier but all stopped again when I got home and sat down (despite bath with clary sage oil). Have managed to get booked in for induction tomorrow afternoon, surely they won't turn me away this time as I will be 15 days overdue (17 days by scan). Really would like this baby to come tonight or tomorrow morning but looks like I'm not going to do it. Ah well, can only be a matter of a couple of days now...

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 18/10/2005 23:16

Good luck for tomorrow then Ponto - look forward to your birth announcement!

Redtartanlass · 19/10/2005 00:08

Good luck Ponto, may just beat you to it. My waters are breaking at the moment but no contractions.

So am holding out phoning the hospital!!!

Redtartanlass · 19/10/2005 02:16

Still no contractions, so going back to bed....I'll update you in the morning.

Night Night

Lexie100 · 19/10/2005 07:23

awwww RTL - still nothing???

she said last night if she hadnt posted by 9am she was in hospital!

So, Ponto and RTL are the next ones then!

mawbroon · 19/10/2005 07:57

Morning all. Just checking in for the day.

Nothing happening here except mad panic to get all the things on my to do list done today and tomorrow just in case the ECV doesn't work and my little one is here on Friday!

It's really wintery here just now - still dark and a bit drizzly. Better get used to it I suppose - it's going to be like this for the next 5 months or so!!

MB

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 19/10/2005 08:11

MB - i know what you mean about the weather.... its quite depressing really, was quite looking forward to a nice walk with Jess today, but if the weather stays the same, i may just curl up in front of the pc or tv instead!

Redtartanlass · 19/10/2005 08:14

Still here, waters still gently breaking, but no contractions. MawBroon have you made arrangements with dh, so we know how you're getting on.

Redtartanlass · 19/10/2005 08:15

j&bmum, thanks for support last night
