Hi all - huge congrats to the latest arrivals. Hang on there all the others - it'll be sooooo worth it!

Came home from hospital Weds but have been confined to bed ever since. Still feel quite ropey - in a lot of pain but nothing overly to worry about apparently, just bad bruising and the rest...

Evie is delicious. Will post a pic on announcement thread in a bit. Very content and placid... 5 days old and only got us up once last night... verrry promising, but I won't count my chickens just yet in case it comes back to bite me on the bum.

Good luck everyone yet to drop xXXXXXXXXXX

Just a quick post from me, trying to catch up with the ironing while dd1 in bed, Ruby asleep!!

Started labour on Wednesday morning at about 4.30am. very irregular contractions, waited till 12.30pm to go to hospital convinced i would be sent home but was 5cm dilated. Managing really well with the pain and thought 'this is going to be easy!' Used gas & air, had pethidine and then things started to get REALLY painful so wimped out and got an epidural at 8cm dilated. Midwives tried to talk me out of it but didnt stand a chance! Anyway had a snooze after the epidural went in and at about 6.30pm we discovered Ruby's heartbeat was very slow. I was told I had to deliver very soon or would need assistance. Even though it's hard to push when you can't feel anything, I did with all my might and got her out in 10 minutes with no assistance or stitches. Had 3 midwives, dh and a doctor all shouting encouragement. Ruby had the cord round her neck but was fine and is SOOOOOOO gorgeous I can't stop staring at her. She's been really great and feeds really well and we are all in love with her (even her 2 year old sister). Had a fantastic hospital experience

Good luck to everyone waiting. I hope you don't have much longer to go, but it really is worth the wait, there is nothing like the feeling when you get to see your little one for the first time

BigBumpBonnie · 16/10/2005 15:43

Definately need to change my name now, thinking of 'jellybellybonnie'!

ponto · 16/10/2005 15:47

Jessicaandbumpsmummy, how much castor oil did you take? Did it give you diarrhoea? I've tried most other things but have heard bad things about castor oil and am worried it will just make me ill without bringing on labour - or that I'll have horrible diarrhoea in labour as I did last time after 2 weeks of curry eating!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 16/10/2005 16:15

Right girlies, WHEN is my baby going to appear?!

Very irregular contractions on and off since 3am and im FED UP!

P - castor oil - work of the devil yes! Took 2 tablespoons last night and sat on the toilet for 10 minutes at about 4.30am but had false labour pains before that.

Then took the ramainder of my bottle (been taking ti earlier in the week) which was about 3.5 teaspoons and sat on the loo for 5 minutes this afternoon after a nap - a few more niggles going on now, but i feel kind of "lighter" if that makes sense!

Ive been quite "bunged up" to say the elast the last few days so it has come as a bit of relief!

Dad has been here all weekend and has now just gone home, so it will be sods law it will kick off later and he will have to come back! He is looking after Jess while im in hospital!

Right, thats me signing off for now - COME ON GIRLS - WE CAN DO THIS!!!

Lexie100 · 16/10/2005 18:34

RTL - you forgot Mawbroon! I cant be the last one PLEASE!

triceratops · 16/10/2005 20:35

Congratulations Jai38 [Grin]

Waiting around is a pain, isn't it. I hope no one has to go and get induced but I know I will be begging for it myself if I go too far over.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 16/10/2005 20:37

Trice - I would be happy to be induced - so much easier that this "is it, isnt it" malarky!

Just been for a 20 minute power walk around the estate.... DH thinks im mad because I NEVER walk fast and even he was struggling to keep up with me at some points!

Redtartanlass · 16/10/2005 20:45

No way do I want to be induced again.....Mbroon is booked in for Friday and she isn't overdue, I only put the OD ladies down!!!!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 16/10/2005 20:49

im only overdue by my period dates..... the thought of it still being FRIDAY before my edd!!!

triceratops · 16/10/2005 20:56

I was induced last time and it was fine for me but I know a lot of people who have ended up having emergency c sections after induction .

I wish I could remember what labour felt like so that I wouldn't keep getting excited about period pains and trapped wind.

I have just eaten all the fun sized fingers of fudge I bought for trick or treating and I feel quite sick.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 16/10/2005 20:58

Trice - i was induced last time too and had no problems either.

The way i feel right now a CS would be a dream!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 17/10/2005 07:49

Morning girls.

Nothing here yet again... hope we had an overnight baby last night.

Lexie100 · 17/10/2005 08:26

No baby from me. Slept well though but have a real splitting head ache. I bet i have to be induced

OP posts:
jessicaandbumpsmummy · 17/10/2005 08:31

i slept very well too.... im resigning myself to the fact ill be having a november baby!

triceratops · 17/10/2005 08:56

Glad you slept well Lex and J&BM. I hope the weather gets better as I would like to go for a long walk today. ds has a playdate with his best friend this afternoon, he is so excited about it he is bouncing off the walls .

I have been reading the post natal thread. It is all nipples and nappies on there. I think I have changed my mind about having another baby after morningpaper reminding me about that newborn latch being like a stapler. So true. AAaaaghhhh.

It does put the waiting into perspective though, I am enjoying these last few nights of sleep with my nipples in tact and no nappies. And I can tickle my babies feet when she sticks them out to my side .

hester · 17/10/2005 09:53

Well girls, I woke up at 1.30am with very painful contractions and had a bloody show. Kept leaking watery blood till this morning, and had contractions through the night. They got gradually weaker and more spaced, though, and I managed a couple of hours sleep this morning. Am now having short, weak contractions about every 15 minutes.

What do you think? I know this isn't established labour, but what are my odds of having this baby in the next couple of days?

I've talked to the midwife and she's going to ring back around midday...

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 17/10/2005 09:54

Trice - i was in B&Q yesterday and suddently i had a foot appear at the top of my bump - dad was with me and felt it and thought it was amazing! Hurt like hell mind you!

munz · 17/10/2005 09:55

hijack - YAY hester! good luck!

hester · 17/10/2005 09:55

PS. Do you think I should finish packing my hospital bag now?
