Hi ladies-thought I would be adventurous & set up the new thread for the final leg of our journey Grin

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
40Weeks · 23/01/2011 18:09

Oh needto Rose absolute and Jasmine are also good, and to be avoided until 37 weeks. Never know if there is any truth in this sort of stuff but at worst you will smell nice! And neals yard will mix a few drops I to bubble bath/oil/facial spritz so you don't have to buy the whole pot as it's pricey x

PDR · 23/01/2011 18:18

I second jasmine oil - when I went to the spa last week the therapist mentioned it... Very strong though so best mix it with a carrier oil.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 23/01/2011 18:24

suzy I'm sure you'll both be fine, especially at this stage. I might be wrong but I think it's more important when baby is still developing so to speak. At this point they're all cooked and just putting on the finishing touches (and making us grumpy!) Smile

40weeks I can definitely get on board with the rose! Might have to have a wander into town tomorrow and see what I can pick up! Thank you!

Had period pains most of the day and keep thinking 'is this it?' but no sausage (is that the right way to use the phrase angels?). Would serve me right to be like this for another couple of weeks now Hmm

cookingfat did you enjoy black swan? I really want to see it!

Oneof4 · 23/01/2011 18:49

All goats cheese is fine unless it's "Chevre" type, which is stated on the pack...it's just that they think pg women aren't bright enough to distinguish between the two so impose a blanket ban! I love goats cheese so looked into that one early on and have been eating it all the way through. Yum.

Bring on the big, fat juicy steak!

I've been having strange pains like I've pulled a muscle along the bottom right of my bump. I thought something might be going on, but now think I may just have pulled a muscle!

EauRouge · 23/01/2011 19:05

Ooh, I like the thought of rose and jasmine oils. DH thinks I'm turning into a mad hippy though Grin When can you start using clary sage, is it 37 weeks? I love the smell of it.

tadjennyp · 23/01/2011 19:34

Bugger, I've been using clary sage bath foam the whole time as there is so little choice of bubble baths here in the States! I have also not avoided salami and have eaten the odd bit of stilton and brie. It's the risk of getting something like food poisoning that is elevated so if you know the provenance and look after it well, then the risk is tiny.

I love Tim Roth too need! Lie to Me is quite glamorous but at least they haven't Americanised his Britishness in any way. I mean he still eats beans on toast etc! Grin The show sounds very exciting.

My next door neighbour is hosting a baby shower for me this afternoon and I need to get tidying the house as all the dcs will be here with the dhs!

WanderingSheep · 23/01/2011 19:47

Ooh needto a show sounds promising! And not to get you too excited or anything Wink, but the day before I went into labour with DD I had period type pain! Grin Keep us updated!

Ledkr hope your DD enjoyed her birthday! When is your CS scheduled for, is it Friday? Bet you can't wait!

Well, we're almost in Feb girls! Eeeep! Grin I feel like I've got ages to go compared to some of you but I'm sure it will go really quickly. I'm looking forward to the next birth announcement!

americanexpat · 23/01/2011 19:56

Good luck, Needto! I hope it all kicks off for you soon.

Baby has been moving a lot today and causing stretching pain in my pelvis. I finally started to pack my hospital bag (was vaguely hoping not being prepared would encourage him to arrive early). I had to buy more snacks for it since I sampled the others too heavily. Blush

wigglesrock · 23/01/2011 20:18

ledkr glad party went off well, nothing to stop baby now Grin

God I've been eating goats chese and wolfing down salami, deli meats etc.

Had fab time last night, didn't make it home until well after midnight!! Feel great today and no boaking. Funny enough, I know it goes against all advice etc re vomiting in pregnancy etc but I always find the later I eat in the evening the more chance I have of keeping it down. The worst time in this pregnancy for me to eat was between about 11am and 7pm!! But I think baby brain may be well and truly setting in, bought new clothes for dds all in the wrong size today Hmm.

40Weeks · 23/01/2011 20:23

I think the bubble bath is fine tadjen (well it must be as you are fine) but it wouldn't be very strong in a bath product. The neat oils can be pretty potent though, hence why it can be a good idea to mix them. I don't know if they will help induce labour, but anything is worth a shot. I went 2 wks and 1 wk over and found it so disheartening, as you focus on the due date for 9 mnths and then it passes by without so much as a twinge and then I was thinking, "well now what?!?" so I tried pineapple (useless) sex (scientific, yippee says DH) jumping on my dsis trampoline, long walk and hot spicy stir fry and lo and behold went into labour that night! So have told dh when he is back from this stag do, he has 3 days to recover, at which point I will be 37 weeks and is "game on" for getting things going! I will NOT GO OVERDUE I WILL NOT GO OVERDUE.

I am so going overdue, aren't I ?!

40Weeks · 23/01/2011 20:26

Sorry x posted here wiggles, glad you had a good night.

PDR · 23/01/2011 20:31

40 did you try all those things in 1 day? I don't want to go overdue either but am resigned to the fact that it's inevitable.

Also eaten all snacks from labour bag Shock! Daren't go near the scales!!!!!!!!!!!!

earlgreyismynectar · 23/01/2011 20:34

Fingers X'd Needto! Sounds very promising! I think we are ready for more birth announcements this week! I'm convinced I'll be late as I was last time but plan on getting Raspberry Leaf capsules tomorrow! Good advice 40 re Clary Sage, I have some which I'll use in my next bath! Rose Absolute sounds lovely as does the Jasmine, I can quite imagine how pricey they'd be but will look into it too.

I've been tempted by Brie a couple of times recently & prawns once Shock

Enjoy the rest of Sunday ladies!

tadjennyp · 23/01/2011 20:53

Yes, glad night out was good wiggles and ledkr's dd's party went very well! We went out for a meal on Friday night and had to come home early as I could barely walk out of the restaurant! He also won't touch me with a bargepole now as I am already slightly dilated! Hope none of us goes too far overdue.

40Weeks · 23/01/2011 21:05

I tried them over 2 days i think pdr - wasn't taking any chances as was so fed up with being asked "any news" day after day!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 23/01/2011 22:18

bit worried about ledkr, hope all went well with the monitoring today. Sure she's having a well deserved rest after her dd's birthday.

ledkr · 23/01/2011 22:56

Sorry for concern,i was at hospital till 3.30 had monitoring and scan, all good she is moving loads i just cant feel it.My mate came with me and was all emotional silly moo,i dont think you can see much at this stage. All reassured for now then got pre op appointment tomorrow and another monitoring.Dh has finished now for over 4 wks we are so excited it feels like xmas is coming soon.
DD was soooo funny today she had 2 very late nights (ds said her and her friend were having a midnight feast at 2.30 am)Shock
All day she has cried. For everything,if i told her she couldnt have or do something she howled like a banshee,i managed to trick her to bed at 7 so she should be better tomorrow.
Hope you are all well, wonder if there will be anymore surprises tomorrow.

Breezey · 23/01/2011 23:40

Hello, its so exciting reading of all the anticipation, it feels as if the arrivals are all almost iminent now which is good. My experience of 3rd stage, DC1 home delivery planned but at 36 weeks, there was no syntometrine (injection) it took over an hour, was very painful, and involved m/w pulling on cord rather a lot, it was quite scary, and I'm sure I bled more than I would have otherwise, was able to hold baby but not relaxing at all. With dc2 planned home delivery had injection, and 3rd stage was quicker, less painful, and I was able to pay more attention to newborn. This time round I'll definitely get it again, (if the m/w remebers to bring it !!) as I'm a bit more anxious as 3rd time, and that bit older ! Kids finally back at school Tuesday so hoping for a very lazy day. Love the Birth Plans,

tadjennyp · 24/01/2011 04:18

Glad monitoring went well and you got dd into bed. Had a lovely baby shower with some really sweet gifts. Looking forward to little one coming now!

roundthehouses · 24/01/2011 08:57

ledkr - glad party and monitoring went well, busy week lined up for you! very exciting. hope dd feels better today.

needto - also v. exciting! keep us posted

tadjenny - lovely re. baby shower i can imagine that would make it that little bit more real, didn´t have one with ds and doubt i´ll have one this time, my friends and i are a very disorganised bunch!

This is my last week at work (only doing mon, wed, fri) but have woken up with really sore tummy feels like all the muscles are being pulled. really don´t fancy the drive so going to mumsnet work from home Grin

Dh is also off today which is nice. Lined up lots of appts for this week and next to help the time fly - hair colour/cut, more chiro, private mw, soc sec. mw and massage all this week then next tues got my scan to see if baby has turned. I felt so sure he had and since i got the date i really am not sure anymore, keep prodding him to try and figure out which bit is which, poor thing is going to come out with finger sized dents all over him!

snowangels1 · 24/01/2011 08:59

Phew, glad ledkr the monitoring was OK Grin and well done for getting DD into bed at 7 - I was reading some parenting magazine the other day and one of their top tips for sleepovers was to move all the clocks in the house forward by an hour to trick them to bed early and then once they're alseep move the clocks back ready for morning - gosh, mums are sneaky Wink

tad sounds nice to have a baby shower - no one has bothered with me (not that I'm Envy or anything Wink )

Thanks for the advice a week or so ago re: not giving up on my car seat that someone said they'd lent me and then didn't answer my messages for weeks - can now update that I finally have car seat and isofix base in my posession :) One more thing done (although it's missing the baby head support thing so might have to buy one if I can find it online).

needto hope all is well over there and keep us updated if you can if there is any progress.

Am waiting for bathroom man to arrive to install shower cubicle this week - will be great when it's done but really can't be bothered. I am getting fed up of struggling to get out of bath though.

Does anyone else get an odd pain when they stand up from sitting down (especially in low down seats) low down in their tummy? Bit like baby has moved to adjust to your sitting position and then as you get up she's in the wrong position. I have to take my firstfew steps after getting up very slowly and a bit like I'm a hunchback or old man Wink .

smallblackflowers · 24/01/2011 09:20

Hello all, have lurked over the weekend but no chance to post with a very energetic toddler to entertain / recover from! She's at nursery now so I'm having some much deserved mumsnetting time.

ledkr pleased to hear that your DD had a great BDay party and that all is fine with your DD2 Smile

needto very excited about your show - I'm looking forward to updating the stats list with some more new arrivals this week please!

roundthehouses I think my DC is going to have prod marks all over him too, as I've not been convinced by my midwife's analysis of his position. Have come to believe her this weekend though as have worked out that what I thought was a foot poking out is probably an elbow.

angels no-one loves me enough to arrange a baby shower either Sad. Re pain when standing - I often get what I assume to be ligament pain - very sharp and coming from the side to the underneath of my bump. I also can barely put any weight at all on one of my legs for a minute or two, but that's the SPD.

Am coming to the end of my proxy nesting this week - am currently having a carpet fitted on my stairs and landing, and the tree surgeon is coming tomorrow to cut down a couple of very big conifers, and that's it! Just need to do a bit of decluttering and cleaning and then I'll be ready for bubba's arrival.

Deliaskis · 24/01/2011 09:31

Morning ladies. Hope all are feeling OK this Monday morning. NeedTo very excited about your possible sign of things moving! I'm going to hobble to shop at lunchtime to try and get raspberry ;eaf thingies and really anything else that might help, probably all rubbish but you never know. I'm 36+2 now and feel like the nearly 4 weeks I am likely to wait is just toooooo long! It's possible I have been a leeeeeeeetle bit irritable this weekend!

On the up side, I got home Friday night and the first thing DH said was 'I'm not going', re his potential business trip next weekend, so I'm really pleased and relieved about that! And good that it was resolved straight away rather than wasting a weekend agonising about it.

We did however waste the weekend agonising about boys names, both had second thoughts and decided to 're-open' our shortlist, went from possible 3 up to about possible 20, then eliminated some, and ended up with the same 3 again! Oh well!

angels I'm getting pain like that when I stand up too, what with that and SPD it's just better to...you know...not get up.

ledkr glad all is well after monitoring, always good to get reassurance.

Baby is moving so much at the moment, I really feel like s/he must be the right way round, then the wrong way etc. but all the books etc. say by this time there isn't much room to be doing lots of proper turning regularly. So maybe it just feels like it because s/he is bigger now. I do honestly feel like sometimes I can feel head and bum, and neither in my pelvis!

Oh well, what will be will be, have mw tomorrow so she can have a squidge and see what she thinks.

Stay healthy ladies and hope you're getting some time for R&R before the big arrival!

D

Deliaskis · 24/01/2011 09:52

OK, so I really am feeling a bit needy today, so have to ask, to all you ladies for whom this is a second/third/fourth baby:

How much 'worse' is it likely to get? Over next/final 4ish weeks I guess.... I just typed a whole woe is me para about how crap I feel then decided you don't need to read all that, the question above is really what I'm getting at, so I suppose it's about discomfort, pain, lack of sleep etc. Will it get worse yet, or will it be like this until the end?

Impossible question I guess, but any thoughts/experiences gratefully received!

Dx

PinkElephant73 · 24/01/2011 10:06

Delia you may find it doesnt get much worse as when the baby's head engages and your bump "drops" it will not be pressing on your ribs so much so less heartburn/breathlessness.

you can live in hope anyway. I have a 3 quid exercise ball from tesco, sitting on that seems to help.
