Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KTisPG · 24/01/2011 14:53

I remember being in agony for my last scan because I followed the drinking instructions, so don't think I'll bother this time. I will drink plenty, just not the absurd amount they suggest.

Does chocolate orange count as one of your 5 a day Wink??

spilttheteaagain · 24/01/2011 15:19

nix I hope it's gone well, I'm stressed for you!

MrsVidic · 24/01/2011 15:21

i have a running pram, need to upgrade to a double now. Its a little nipper sport and is fantastic.

nickstermum · 24/01/2011 15:46

IM HERE with a little wriggling nickster bean Grin Grin Grin Grin

all is fab, baby, hb, wriggling, doing backflips, happy as an oink oink in muck!

Relief is incredible, and i sobbed all the way home :)

nickstermum · 24/01/2011 15:48

PS i was sent away to empty my bladder!!!!!

SelinaDoula · 24/01/2011 16:23

I am now booked in, had a dating scan and done combined test so had nuchal test too.
Lovely to see baby!
Took my Mum with me as she had nevr seen one done.
They have changed my due date o JUly 8th so not really an August club member now lol, maybe I can go with both.
Nucal fold was 2.4mm which I think is the high end of normal so trying not to worry as I have to wait for blood tests to be back on friday/monday.
Anyone else had this?
Selina

nickstermum · 24/01/2011 16:26

I was there for a nuchal scan today, but bean was lying funny and they wouldnt accept it. (apparently it either has to be perfect or not at all!)

LadyGoneGaga · 24/01/2011 16:28

Fab news, Nix - chuffed for you Grin

Thanks for the recommendation, MrsV. I think would just get a single and run when DS1 is at nursery (he'll be 3 when baby comes) as think will be too heavy with both in plus I think DS1 would get too pee'ed off with being stuck in a buggy before I'd had chance to have a proper run anyway.

Do you find it loads harder work or ok? Think will definitely help get a couple more midweek runs in!

Are you still running now? Fair play if you are. I get laaaazy when I am pregnant! Grin Have booked my pregnancy yoga to start in March and might start going to Aquanatal then as well, not pregnant enough yet!

jspark123 · 24/01/2011 16:30

Hi guys, Congrats nickster, I have also had my scan today, it was amazing seeing it jumping and moving around, now I can finally believe its true! I had minimal symptoms so this day has been long coming. They have put me back to 6th August, which is closer to the dates we worked out anyway, the GP reckoned on 1st August.
I have a couple of questions, for those who have had a nuchal scan privately, how much roughly does it cost if you don't mind saying, they don't do them on the NHS in Scotland. I will be 32 when I have this baby, so I know I am not technically high risk but just want to cover all bases, how old have some of you been when getting these tests? (cheeky I know!) They have offered a blood test but not able to do until I think 15 weeks, apparently the nuchal scan is slightly more accurate but have to get that done before I am 13+6.
Sorry for rambling on :) x

nickstermum · 24/01/2011 16:33

Congrats JS fab news. I am 34! (OAP extraordinaire!!) i was 31 when i had DS and we didnt have nuchal then. I think private nuchal is roughly £280certainly round here anyhoo. You are due the day before me, and on my birthday! Grin

LadyGoneGaga · 24/01/2011 16:34

I had nuchal scan, Selina but my measurement was actually quite low.

I'm a bit concerned about your nuchal scan - if you are actually due 8th July this would make you 16 weeks and you can only have the nuchal test done up to 13+6 gestation as the measurement is unreliable after this point (fluid starts to be reabsorbed as the babies lymphatic system is more developed at this point). So the measurement is actually not high at all for this gestation? They shouldn't have done it at this point. I would ask for a second opinion from your consultant obstetrician.

LadyGoneGaga · 24/01/2011 16:36

Hi Jspark - fab news. I had nuchal done privately as they don't do on NHS in Warwickshire - it was the combined test including the blood work etc and cost £140. I'm 32 as well.

jspark123 · 24/01/2011 16:56

Thanks for the info guys, going to discuss it with DH tonight, we may just wait and use the blood test as an indicator but not sure, £140 for both tests LG is pretty good. Nickster we will have to keep up with each others progress, the race is on! :o

SelinaDoula · 24/01/2011 16:56

Thanks Lady goneGaga Sorry, typo, was July 28th so 13+4
S x

LadyGoneGaga · 24/01/2011 17:03

Oh, ok! Well it is still a normal measurement here so should be ok although I know it's a worry.

Did they manage to see a nasal bone? That is also a good indicator so if they saw that then you can feel more reassured.

By the way I post on both July and August as was originally due on 28th July - now 24th July but I like to keep tabs on both camps!

SelinaDoula · 24/01/2011 17:11

Thanks, yes they did see nasal bone, I asked. I'm not too worried but there' always something to worry about lol
Good idea, think I will post on both too lol

littlemissw · 24/01/2011 17:30

Great to hear so many of you have had your scans & all is well. I'm still grinning from my private one I had on Saturday. My youngest had us all in stitches when she said 'ooh, look at all the vegetables around the bagby! (since the baby is in my TUMMY) Grin My doppler arrived too & the kids are really enjoying listening to our baby's heartbeat (as am I).

jspark12 I had a NT scan with both my DC's privately (they didn't do it on the NHS then) & it cost around £120. That said, it may well be more now as my last one was 4 years ago.

I have to agree with LadyGaga Selena - the result may just be high because you are further along & its probably not even valid at all. Definitely ask for another opinion.

You ladies make me smile with all your talk of food. I come on here not hungry in the slightest & now fancy all sorts of things that I never normally would! Hmmm, even a Ruslers burger sounds like a good idea. Shock

I've been really thirsty too & have found that ice tea really does the trick for me (I like rooibos with a bit of apple juice in). I also like elderflower cordial, or the sparling one for the days I really fancy a glass of vino. :) Apart from the thirst though, all other symptoms seem to have eased or vanished, including the tender boobs & dreadful nausea YaY, bring on the 2nd timester!

MrsVidic · 24/01/2011 17:50

ladygone i do still run and gym about 3-4 times a week when preg but stopped running last time about 15 weeks, but carried on at the gym. However, i'm going to try to keep running until 7 months this time. I don.t go far though about 5k mini run if i don.t feel up to the gym. Usually i do 10k but i admire your marathon. I could never do one. My dp is the true runner in the house and got me into it. He did a marathon yesterday so i am glad thats over and i'm not left alone for hours while he trains lol

Tokyotwist · 24/01/2011 18:22

Hi everyone,

I've been reading all your posts about how much water you need to drink for the scan. I've my dating scan on Monday (same as you wheresmytractor). How are you supposed to drink so much when you're feeling sick. I can only manage a few sips at a time Confused.

Still really looking forward to it.

KLou111 · 24/01/2011 18:26

Hi all, just caught up with the 16 pages I had to read. Was like doing homework!!
Apologies for the long post!

Been off here properly for a week, been sorting some business back in the Midlands, but we?re back now til mid March, yippee!!

Got my scan through for this Friday, can?t wait to see my little one again. Will be more than a blob with a heartbeat this time lol! Same day as you MrsVidic I think.

May seem to be old news now, but just wanted to comment on some posts :)

Sleepyowl re potato waffles, I haven?t had them in years, and I saw them the other day in someones house, and felt like I just had to have them. I did resist, but isn?t that really strange!!!
Am loving mash at the moment, think cos it is so creamy and easy to eat. My appetite is well and truly back again! Have also had chippy chips 3 times this week!!
Been totally addicted to fruit gums (the hard chewy ones) and haribo fizzy sweets. Had 5 bags this week. DH thinks if I carry on I will have no teeth left when the baby comes!! Jelly is also a fave!

Now I just want Angel Delight RunDMC!!

SisterT you made me want to make a fishfinger sandwich right now!! Have some in the freezer, bread in breadmaker, if it was done, would so have one!

Know what you mean about time standing still Mrsstevo, my date was put back a week at the EPU, I should be 12 weeks tomorrow, but only 11. Still, I have my scan Friday, so excited!!

Welcome to countssheep, grownups/KTisPG, tel1, belamysbride, Selina, Rehune, majormoo, gonnabe

Thanks Nickstermum for concluding my wee problems, PREGNACARE!! Makes sense now!

LittleB so glad you?re mum is happier about your pregnancy. Now I want a slush puppy!! Lol at the OAP thing! I?m only 31, don?t make us old!!! Oh, another July traitor!

Daisyair my weight keeps fluctuating. I feel huge, but I have lost the 4lb I have put on and now back to my pre pregnancy weight, very odd!

Glad your scans went well Annie and coastgirl, Nix, jspark

Congrats hersetta on your pink bump.

Yukana we chose our names months ago. Ava Jayne or Isla Jayne if pink (Jayne was my late nana), Ewan John if blue (John is Dad and FIL middle names) :)

Re libido, none really here, but am trying to keep DH happy in that department :)

Re wetness, am very wet, also thought this was bad, until Mum (without me even asking) explained I will be having a lot more discharge. So phew!

Re HB and water birth, they actually are trying to get more women here to have homebirths, as they say you?re more relaxed. Am considering a WB, but if at home, would have to have in the conservatory as it is huge, but until our hedge grow properly, we are in full view of our shared driveway!
Also I was ALL the drugs, so think hospital is best for me.

Told loads of friends while we were back in the Mids, all very excited for us. Also found out that one couple, who are quite close friends and were trying a month later than us, are also pregnant!! She is due 4 days after me! How spooky is that?? She not getting too excited at the mo as not got scan for a few weeks. We were quite lucky to be able to show them our early scan, but couldn?t work out if they were excited for us or not. We left being really pissed off TBH, as we are so excited, and so is everyone else, and we felt as if they pissed on our fire. We we very upset when we left, as we kept saying how excited we were for them, but for us from them, nothing! :(
Phew, that?s it for now x

Hersetta · 24/01/2011 18:32

Selina,

I had a measurement of 2.4mm with my DD. However combined with a present nasal bone and good blood work my risk was low and she of course is perfect.

I agree with Littlemiss and say that you are only just inside the time limit for a nuchal of 13+6 so you should expect a higher reading. My first nuchal was 1.3mm and 5 days later at my private scan it had increased to 1.6mm so the measurement does go up depending how pregnant you arr which is why it is an unrelieable marker after 13+6.

I had my nuchal both times at the FMC (the professor who runs the clinic acually invented the nuchal test)and we were lucky enough to see him for our appointment this time. The scan and bloods and risk assessment was £180.

Firawla I'm still going to class every week!! Yeah I know I'm going to gain weight but want to try keep a track on the weight I'm gaining. I really dont want to be gaining loads more than is needed if I can help it.

Right will get back to reading the rest of the post... you lot have been busy this afternoon ha Wink

Bryher · 24/01/2011 18:40

Wow, so much to catch up on!

LittleBeaut for my first scan I drank a pint and a half as I hadn't got letter from hospital and that's what internet said! For my second scan I had letter from hospital and it said to drink a pint, they still said my bladder was really full with one pint so I think that should be enough!!

SelinaDoula thanks for your positive response re BMI concerns - I have an appointment with consultant (prob registrar really) in Feb, so hopefully I can get a better idea of options then. I guess if I get to later on and haven't developed GDD or pre eclampsia they may let me transfer to MLU? I don't really think I'm fit enough either so I may just have to stick with consultant led care though.

Yay for everyone whose had scans and seen wriggling beans recently :)

Bryher · 24/01/2011 18:44

Oh and going to watch OBEM again tonight - can't stop scaring myself! Anyone else?

KLou111 · 24/01/2011 18:52

Bread out of breadmaker and fishfingers in the oven!! Mentioned it to DH, and he just fancied that too, thank goodness for that, was dreading having to make make 2 different things!!
