Hello

RE. the underwired nursing bra: it seems OK, the only problem I have is that it's a bit of a tight fit, but not uncomfortable, just tits peeking out a little underneath, but not under the wires. They do it up to size 40D, and I'm 40F, so I knew it might be a little small. I'm hoping my tits will settle down in size when feeding is properley established. The bra itself is pretty, cups lined with cotton jersey, the rest is white lace (not cotton) with 3 hooks at back. It has poppers in the middle to release the cups.

The address for the bra is

cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5430432653&sspagename=ADME:L:AAQ:UK:1

Hope that works for you, I'm not that sure about doing links. Let me know if not, and I'll give you the seller's email address.

Last day of the working week for me today, phew! Dh and me are off to Gospel choir rehearsal tonight, which is always fun, and very uplifting.

My mum cooked our tea for us tonight, which was darling of her, I called on the way home and picked up a pot of chicken stew with parsnips and leeks. Yum!

Just got an abolutely cute crossover navy cardi for baby boy, from the Jo Jo Maman Bebe catalogue, can't wait to try it on him!

Dd stood in the bathroom this morning talking to my bump : "Hurry up and grow big enough to come out, and change into a girl can you?"

Can't arrange that I'm afraid!

Rachey1969 · 14/10/2005 09:01

Iris - thanks for the massage tips, am trying to get dp involved in this, also in putting bio-oil on my stretchmarks, although he seems more interested in massaging an area slightly above my bump...

Mak - like Eshay, I only had the GTT because of my history of big babies. I can ring after 9.30 today and get the results. Dp's dad is a haematologist at the same hospital so he could well have done it! The midwife said 99% are negative but I suppose it is better to be safe than sorry. Really hope yours is clear!

Extension in Jan!!!? I do not envy you! I hope for your sake a lot of the work is on the outside? It's cold enough now with all the doors open and the mess... Everything is caked in mud, plaster and cement and just walked in further by boots and paws. Luckily we only have carpets in the bedrooms which are the only rooms not affected.

Lyra - will investigate the bra and I have seen that cardi in JoJo - does it have two big buttons? I really fancy one for baby. I like the crossover ones two but perhaps they are a little too girlie.

lyra41 · 14/10/2005 11:18

Hiya

Am typing 1 handed 2day as i hav the joy of babysitin my friends gorgeous 7 wk old, Kyle and he's asleep on my bump. the dog wasnt keen on the crying - she joined in by wuffing loudly and trotting round wondering if she could help. alls quiet now tho.

Rachey - i dont think the cardi's 2 girlie as it's v plain and its navy. Besides, i think u can get away with slightly pretty clothes wen they're still fairly tiny.

Rachey - how were your GTT results? Neg I hope.

off 2 aQ natal at 12 with my friend and baby, which will b fun. wd like 2 vacuum dwnstairs b4 i go, but cant really see it happening, as 1. enjoyin cuddlin babe 2 much and 2. it'll make the dog bark 2 much.

Think i'll have a choccy biccie instead.

sweetkitty · 14/10/2005 16:25

hi ladies

Had mad cleaning day today, the house was really getting to me so stayed off mumsnet and cleaned the whole downstairs including 3 washings. Even ordered our food online and did some Christmas shopping at Boots (they are doing a good spend £100 and get 1500 free advantage points also good for baby things). Hurricane DD however has struck since then.

I'm still wearing my sports bra 34E and also an old nursing bra thats 36E as well. I refuse to buy any more maternity bras. Word of warning last time I got measured at about 8 weeks and was told I needed a 38E (was 34C/D pre baby). Bought quite a few maternity bras then some nursing bras in that size too but because of the bump it pushes your ribcage up and out so once you've had baby it all goes back to normal and you'll be your normal bra size (does that make sense?) I'm waiting until the babies here, will use old nursing bras for a few weeks then go and treat myself to some nice pretty new ones. Love the idea of underwires as well.

Not much else happening here, DD's bedroom furniture and some new living room furniture arrived yesterday so we are going to assemble that this weekend. Will be nice as we are still tripping over cardboard boxes. Some of DD's furniture will double up as new babies too so may have to start opening some of DD's old clothes boxes and having a look will have to buy some new clothes as DD was a July baby but hopefully should have some overlap between seasons. Am so happy some of DD's pretty newborn clothes will be used again.

Good luck those having GTT tests, DD was 6lb 3 ozs hopefully this one will be about the same.

Mak · 14/10/2005 16:44

Thanks for the kind words re GD. My test was because of big DD also, although my sugar levels were Ok, so I really didn't expect any different this time. Anyhow, I really must reduce my sugar intake - my bump is rather large and torpedo shape ( I keep knocking the kids at school about with it ). Had a clothing disaster today- managed to get tights on but they kept rolling down over my bump, followed by my skirt and then my knickers. Not a pleasant sight seeing me hitching my clothes (knickers and all).
Forgot to mention on the theme of veins - my boobs have turned into a 3D map of the british motorway system - Lovely (not).

lyra41 · 14/10/2005 20:21

Sweetkitty

Thanks for the tip re. online xmas shopping - just went to boots online and did most of mine! Hurray, and all for under £100 too. That doesn't include dd, ds or dh though, but got the nephews and nieces, in laws and random other children done. Feel very smug now.

sweetkitty · 15/10/2005 11:47

Those 3 for 2's are very good though lyra, I'll have about 50 pounds in advantage card points now so they will come in handy either for Xmas or for the new baby or even for a bit of make up .

Going to have a relaxing day after my cleaning blitz yesterday, DP is building up furniture so I'm going to take DD outside in her new wellie boots as it's really nice here today for a change.

GeorginaP · 15/10/2005 12:55

Hi there. I am still alive, just been rushing around trying to get stuff sorted out so that house can be rented ASAP.

Had cracking Braxton Hicks on Thurs night. Had to curl up on sofa and 'talk myself down'. Of course it was one night that DH was out!

Love the sound of everyone's doggies. DD is besotted with my uncle's Border Terrier called Daisy. I can't bring myself to get a dog from a breeder as there are so many dogs that need homes, so in a couple of years we'll be off to Battersea Dogs home to get a pooch of our own.

Would like to use the eco disposable nappies, wipes and nappy bags. Don't think I could quite cope with terry nappies.....bit squeamish like that!

As for names, now we know that Beany is a girl there's been some fraught negotiations going on....I think we've agreed on Olivia Camille. Like the sound of it and it's a little bit different.

Keep going into Mothercare and buying up little outfits.... must stop!

Mak - am with you on the vieny boob front. Sooooo not a good look. Plus there's the orange peel ass and rather wobbly thighs.....gorgeous! Paris Hilton step back!

Have also got my GD test in a couple of weeks. Developed it with DD (but think it might have been due to excessive bed rest Yank docs put me on). Am hoping I won't get it this time.

Hope everyone's test results are negative.

Oh, has anyone heard from Horseshoe? Just wondering how she is. Fingers crossed everything is OK.

OK, am off to bombard ELC website to look for DD Christmas pressies. Other good websites for Crimbo presents are:

Tickle · 15/10/2005 18:00

Hi folks - just a quick line while the 3 terrors are behind me in the bath...

DH is out to a dinner in the only posh restaurant in town (ahem, village then) - some group that came out to the nature centre today to look round. I was invited too, but after doing coffee & cake for 18 of them, I didn't have the energy to go out!

So I ended up making myself a delicious fish finger buttie out of some left over from the children's dinner

Re veins and things - actually feeling a bit low on the self esteem front and wish I could get dh to realise that a few sweet words and a bit of massage would go a very long way... but we're both so busy with work it just doesn't seem to come up. We close down for the winter in just over a week, then I hope we'll both have a bit of time to think about the new baby - bub's getting a bit of a rough deal as no 4.

Better go & get the bedtime routine kick started, then a large glass of wine calls

Have a good Sunday

GeorginaP · 16/10/2005 18:40

Hey Tickle... have found that the only way to get a man to do anything is to state the bleeding obvious! Don't be backwards in coming forwards. Present the dear man with a bottle of massage oil and strict instruction on how to use it!!!

And YEAHHHHHH to fish finger butties. Would love to join you in glass of wine but acid too bad and end up eating so many Rennies that it's jst not worth the agony.

lyra41 · 16/10/2005 22:00

Hello all

Quiet day on the thread today. Quiet day for me too - woke too early (again!!) so lots of napping going on for me. Did have a nice walk in the park with Bella, but I find I get lots of Braxton Hicks if I overdo the exercise.

Fell down the stairs yesterday - sounds dramatic, but it wasn't too bad, just bumped into the bookshelf at the bottom sideways, so have a lovley bruise on my waist now. Also burst into quite enjoyable excessive tears. Ok now.

No more to say tonight really. Feeling a bit tired and grot. Wish the house would magically clean and tidy itself in the night.

OOh yes, a bit of news, I have made an offer on some motherese nappies and wraps on the for sale thread. A bit early I know, but I find it hard to stop buying things for the baby.

iris66 · 17/10/2005 11:22

Hi all!! not posted for a few days as the computer had a bit of a fit when DH tried to load the camera software so I could put a photo of Millie on. We ended up having to completely reload windows and lost loads of stuff including our entire CD collection aggghhhhh!!!! Luckily we hadn't got rid of the CDs yet so at least we can reload them but what a nause!

Hope you all had fab weekends. DD started her new job as a kitchen porter at the local golf club this weekend. I felt so sorry for her as it's all new (and she's sooo tired) but she's been desparate for a job for ages to give her some financial independance (she's also saving to go on a month long charity work expedition next year)and, as there's quite a lot of competition round here, she was really lucky to get in where she did. She worked 6pm-11 Fri & Sat then 8am-4 Sun and looked pretty shabby this morning as a result - definately not looking forward to school but really pleased with herself for having a job! (welcome to the world of work darlin' bless)

DH took me out on Fri night - Pizza Hut & Curse of the Were-Rabbit no less! Sooo funny - I love Wallace & Grommit. The cinema was really full though so we ended up sitting right at the front next to the speakers. The baby went mad, bouncing & kicking all over the place because it was so loud. He obviously tired himself out though as he didn't wake me up kicking at 5 on Sat for a change!

Georgina - Love the name Olivia btw. I have GTT in 3 weeks (my dad has diabetes) and am not looking forward to it at all - hospital.....sniff**

Rachey - nearly PMSL when I saw your "thanks for the massage tips.." post - thought you were on about getting DH involved with perineal massage!! (although nothing wrong with that but I had an immediate vision of my DH's face if I bent over and presented him with a bottle of oil and instructions!!! lol!!)

Tickle - how did the cafe's first few days go (was it Friday you launched it?) and is DD enjoying her new childcare?

Lyra - hope you're not in too much pain today from your fall!! am going to try to get Millie on the members profile this afternoon..watch this space - but if I go quiet again you'll know what's happened - again!

Rachey1969 · 17/10/2005 11:27

Hi there

My GTT was normal thankfully, anyone else heard? Lyra - hope you are ok? I caught my bump on a door handle once (easily done, I'm already having difficulty with public toilets!) I had a huge bruise too but no ill effects. Sorry I wasn't clear about the cardi from JoJo - I know the one you mean and you're right, you can get away with prettier things for newborns, although my ex sil once made me something with blue ribbons all over it and it was vile! (bless her).

Tickle, I'm right with you on the self-esteem thing, I was clearing out wardrobes yesterday and found tons of tiny (ie size 12!) lingerie and skimpy stuff I wore only a couple of years ago. I feel like an absolute heifer at the moment (40F!) - I hate my reflection! One good thing is that bump has nicely filled out my stretchmarks and those boyish knickers are finally complementing me!

Eshay · 17/10/2005 16:47

Hi girls,

Whatever you do, don't buy lemon flavoured Gaviscon tablets! I bought some as I thought it might be nicer than Rennies or swalowing liquid Gaviscon but these tabs nearly made me puke! It was like chewing on Lemsip flavoured gum! And they stick to your teeth much more than Rennies so half an hour later I was still gagging. If anyone likes them, I'll send them to you free of charge. Yuk!

For those of us who have recently had a GTT - how long can I expect to be in hospital for? I thought I was clever when we made the appointment months ago to have it on my day off but I didn't think about the fact that DS will have to come along now. Not to big a deal as DH will come as well and mind him but I just have visions of this thing dragging out and taking up the whole day.

I'm having some trouble walking today. It's just a muscular thing, somewhere in the groin. Sometimes it's fine but it can hurt quite a bit too. And I have done absolutely nothing to have stretched any muscles. Except maybe climb the stairs at work this morning as the lift was broken and I work on the 4th floor. That really showed what horrible shape I am in...

lyra41 · 17/10/2005 17:03

Rachey

Snap on the bra size. Unbelievable isn't it? The thought of trying to help baby boy get his tiny jaws around those humongous udders isn't all that appealing is it? Especially remembering that I seem to get enough milk for triplets in the first couple of weeks. I must get some of those breast shells as mine leak like mad and it's quite a useful way of collecting ebm.

Day off today, which was good. Not too sore from the fall, thanks, just a rather attractive large bruise on my waist.

It's hard to remember to keep doing the exercises for my back - do you find that Iris, or are you in a routine? The physio offerred me a "pelvic brace" if things got any worse, and I must say, that is sounding more and more attractive, although it sounded a bit scary at first. I find that if I walk any distance at my normal pace, my bump hurts underneath and goes into Braxton Hicks spasms quite easily.

What are you all cooking for tea tonight? We are having shepherd's pie with extra lentils, courgettes, sweet and mash potatoes on top with green cabbage. Got to get those veggies down them somehow!

Jaysfirst · 17/10/2005 18:08

hey people, i am not very good at keeping this up really am i. I have posted this same message in the Due in Dec thread as i am due 31 Dec...so apologies for anyone that may read it twice!! i have been signed off of work now so i might just be able to keep up with all the messages that get posted, and hopefully get a bit more interaction with you all. I have been suffering with SPD, wow what a nightmare it is.. have had physio, painkillers, osteopathy, three diff support belts and now have been given crutchs...dunno about feeling pregnant i feel like i am an OAP. Its quite depressing too as i dont know that many people where i live and all my family are a cpl of hrs away, a cyber network of advice and support is just what i need i think!
I did have a really enjoyable time though last Tuesday, my mum came up and came with me and hubby to have a 4D scan done. It was totally amazing. We got 20 perfect pics of our soon to be daughter and an awesome haf hour DVD of her doing some funky moves!! I was so suprised at the amount of movement that does on with out me actuallly feeling it. I mean i am feeling her kicking all the time but this was something completely different! ANYWAY.... hopefully like i said i should be around a bit more now so waych out for more messages!!

sweetkitty · 17/10/2005 18:11

Haven't even thought about dinner yet, Tescos don't deliver until tomorrow so don't know whats in the cupboard.

Would echo the walking, I'm finding if I walk at normal speed I get a huge sore cramp in my bump was thinking last time with DD I was in New York with DP for his 30th birthday. Did loads of walking then (slowly though).

Not looking forward to the mad leaking boobs again, will have to buy 1000000 breast pads tried reusable ones but didn't get on with them.

Must go and get some gaviscon the heartburn is driving me mad today.

sweetkitty · 17/10/2005 18:13

hi jaysfirst

Sorry to hear about your SPD, I have sacro-iliac pain (in the back as opposed to the front) and feel like my whole body is dropping through my pelvis. Is this your first baby?

I had a 4D scan as well a few weeks ago would agree it's totally awesome and we are having a little girl as well.

Jaysfirst · 17/10/2005 18:54

hiya sweetkitty, yeah its my first baby, and up till about four weeks ago i was really enjoying being pregnant. The SPD is so debilitating, but i am finding that being of work and resting ( i appreciate that its all well and good when you dont have any other kiddies to look i after!) combined with the osteopath and belt reay does help. Have you thought of any names yet for your little girl?

Rachey1969 · 17/10/2005 18:59

Glad you're not feeling too bad Lyra. My boobs really are amazing - way bigger than a baby's head and the milk's not even in yet!!

Tesco have delivered here and I am awash with onken mousse and finest prunes... yum! Your tea sounds fab, love lentils (continental green?) in shepherds pie. We are having chicken curry from yesterday's roast. I'm cooking and dp and ds1 are dog walking on the beach. Ds2 is at karate and dd at gym, electrician in the loft... phew! I am planning to make chicken soup with the carcass (going through v thrifty mode) nice to see Tesco have BOGOF on covent garden soup - lovley carrot n coriander!

Sweetkitty - have you tried breast shells? (not shields) I'm with Lyra and highly recommend them for profuse leaking especially from the other side when feeding. You can save/freeze it for later if you sterilise them first. Only for home though, they are slightly obtrusive but well worth it.

Jaysfirst - sorry to hear about the SPD, a friend of mine was on crutches with it too but went on to have a normal delivery and pregnancy with number 2.

Eshay - the GTT took about 2 1/2 hrs - blood tests (+28 week tests), then a yucky drink, 2 hrs rest then more blood tests - be warned, I felt very weird after it - too much sugar on an empty stomach and after a cuppa and a sandwich in the cafe felt really sick. Good luck with yours.

loomer · 17/10/2005 19:16

Aaaaah! Just lost my post due to stupid computer-freezing-for-no-apparent-reason annoyingness!

In absence of will to type it all out again, the essentials:
Sweetkitty, do you think that strange draggin feeling in my womb that I described last week could be sacro-iliac pain? If so, what can one do to relieve it? It seems to improve when I'm not on my feet/walking around.

Iris, saw another hypnobirthing video last night at class (penultimate one, then it's just up to us to keep practising), which was amazingly calm and peacful and very impressive. Mind you they're not goign to show you the ones that are a bit traumatic and don't really work are they?! Still, DH is feeling very positive about the whole thing, and really keen on a homebirth to ensure we are in control of the situation and as relaxed and comfortable as possible.

Also Iris - did you get the pic of Millie on, or did you lose the will to try after computer crashed? Grrrrr...

Anyone seen the dreaded stretch marks appearing yet? Thought I found one yesterday, but it was at a really stupid angle, and realised it was just a scratch!

Oh, and somebody pleased enlighten me on what SPD stands for?!

Cheers ladies, must make exotic and exciting (not) pasta dish for tea now... I would much rather be having your shepherds pie and cabbage Lyra!

Jaysfirst · 17/10/2005 19:41

hey loomer, SPD is symphisis pubis dysfunction. It occurs when the ligaments over the pubic bone soften up too much and the pubic joint ( which is normally static) moves backwards and forwards. Its agony, specially getting in and out of cars, getting dressed, turnning over in bed and even walking. It can also affect the back of your pelvic bone and i have been having pain in my hip and lower back! Glad to hear Rachey that yr friend went on to have a nor delivery, i ave had a few horror stories...

iris66 · 17/10/2005 20:06

Hi there again. Haven't been brave enough to try camera software again - so no piccies of Millie for the mo. TBH I've not had much of a chance as I had to spend 3 hours redoing all my accounts this afternoon then DH needed to do some work & finally DD snuck in to plug herself into MSN. She 's having major teen angst at the mo because she has NOTHING to wear to the 6th Form social tomorrow night & I've been summoned to her room to help her find something that looks "absolutely gorgeous but not that I've been trying too hard" hmmmmmmm only wish I had Trinny & Suzannah on hand!!

Sweetkitty - more support from me for breast shells (discovered my v ancient pair from DD a while back so have stashed them safely away, ready to catch all the spontaneous spurtings again!)
Your grub all sounds lovely! I seem to have lost all enthusiasm for food again(though managed to eat a whole pack of mince pies and 1/2 a bar of green & blacks chocolate this afternoon so clearly I'm getting the calories in! We ended up with pie, chips & peas tonight(threw yesterday's chicken carcass away this morning in fit of can't be arsedness despite best intention of making soup) Thank goodness for pregnacare eh!

SPD must be catching - seems like nearly everyone is getting pain of some sort Touch wood mine seems to be staying away so far - though clearly not because of all the exercises - haven't done any for ages (except pelvic floors and I'm having to do those like mad as the baby keeps headbutting &/or kicking my bladder - wish he was just a tad quieter though. On the plus side he's not been so violent as to give me any stretchmarks yet !!
Anyway - gotta go & help DD (who's hissy fitting like a toddler at the mo!! - tell me, why am I doing this all again???) chow 4 now!

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 14:42

is there anyone here today thats not on the other post for Dec due? Seems a bit quite....

iris66 · 18/10/2005 15:20

Hi Jaysfirst - it gets like this sometimes I know I tend to have waffly days & then just dry up. It'll probably pick up later on this evening.

Sorry that you're off work (though good that you're resting) how are you feeling today? It can get a bit boring home alone can't it (I work from home and I get a bit stir crazy on a quiet day.
Have you bought much for your DD yet?
