Hi all, and welcome Sarah...

Nothing much to report from me, but am thoroughly enjoying reading all your posts (really quite prolific some of you!). Loads going on at work, so no time to post... but have finally figured out the problem with my mac at home, so can now access this thread in the evening once again, which is a bonus.

Told work today that I am using the last of my holiday to cut down to four day weeks through December - can't wait, it will be so nice to have a longer weekend. They also suggested (I was astonished) that I work from home one or two days a week, which will mean driving the 50-mile round trip into the office only two or three days a week - brilliant!

Lyra, I can't decide whether to hire a pool for my homebirth or not. I think I like the idea of having one available, but the cost is putting me off (I'm such a tightwad at the mo, it seems like preparing for this baby is costing the earth!). Does anyone have experience of using the cheaper inflatable ones?

re. "Saw" - a friend lent me the DVD a few months ago, saying it was a really good film. It sat on top of my TV for weeks on end, with me not being able to stomach even the idea of watching it... I've definitely lost all interest in any entertainment involving blood or gore. Had to admit defeat and give it back to her!

Anyhow, enough blather from me. Have a good Tuesday night y'all (can't believe I'm currently listening to the "organ hour" on radio 2, due TV having blown up - quite literally - on Sunday night!!).

loomer · 08/11/2005 20:53

Yay! Just posted pics on yahoo site... as we don't have any kids or pets I'm afraid it's all rather self-indulgent - photos of me!! Still, you can compare bump sizes eh?

Eshay · 08/11/2005 21:43

I just posted 2 pics too. Great not having to resize them! We don't really have any pics of my bump this time, we really have to take some... For now there's one of me with DS and one of DS by himself. When we get round to taking a pic of my bump I'll add it and let you know. I think it's quite big already!

sweetkitty · 08/11/2005 23:00

Have managed to post some pics of me, DD and DP on the Yahoo site they are really old ones as still can't find the camera leads grrr! But at least you can see my ugly mug.

Very strange putting faces to all the names too

horseshoe · 09/11/2005 09:09

HI everyone...

Im so glad to see that everyone is doing well. I have finally switched to NTL broadband so hopefully my internet problems are long gone...

Im 30 weeks now and still signed off work sick for 2 weeks. I think it's likely I wont be going back for those couple of weeks. I hope not or this cocker spaniel puppy my other half brought me will rip the place to shreads. I think I would rather give birth to triplets and look after them then ever get another puppy. Still I love her all the same.

My Nan is still holding on in there and we have been driving down every weekend to see her so DP is very tired ATM. I think he needs the sick notes more than me.

I spoke to my midwive about rasperry Tea leaf when I had my fist and she advised completely against it until I was overdue at least. As it was I had a sweep and never ever again. Even if I manage to go overdue this time I have already told them NO SWEEPS. A good curry and lots of sex should help things along nicely

Mind you poor DP hasn't had any since we conceived as I found out at 4 weeks and then was worried cause the bleeeding and now been advised not to good job he loves me It's his 30th at the end of the month and I was gonna go for it then as I will be 34 weeks but I brought him a Tag Heur watch instead!!!!

I got a letter through from the plastic surgeon the other day and I thought someone must feel sorry for me and decided to get my stretchmarks fixed but it's to talk about the baby's arm. I was surprised a plastic surgeon would be involved but apparantly they do the prothetics. I haven't really decided if she should have one or not. Maybe when she is more self-concious but I think it could be alien to her in the early years. It's times like that you wish they could speak at birth!!

iris66 · 09/11/2005 09:51

Hi horseshoe - so glad you're back! And able to chat to us more too! - fab - now you'll be able to get some photos up on the Yahoo site (well, don't feel obliged obviously!!).

Blimey they're quick off the mark with the plastic surgery aren't they!! That's got to be a good sign of the level of support you should get though don't you think? lol at your puppy - and DPs watch (DH would go for the watch every time a the mo - he doesn't find the whole pg look attractive at all. As you said.. good job they love us lots eh!)

Great photos girls! Eshay/Sweetkitty your DS/DD's are sooooo gorgeous!!! (can't wait to have this baby - want him now!) Loomer - I love your pg shots (are you at Bowood in the first piccie?)

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 09/11/2005 11:49

hi horseshoe lol at you and the puppy - at least the baby will stay in the one place unlike the puppy. You will have to post some pics! Glad she's hanging on in there I think every week past the magic 28 is great.

Has anyone seen the episode of Friends when Rachel is trying to get Ross to have sex with her to start her labour, it's so funny. Poor DP was promised loads of sex last time if I went overdue but didn't get any as DD was early. I'm still taking the RLT this time, theres never been any proof that it makes a difference I think like everything else they come when they are ready.

Think I'm nesting put up a curtain pole yesterday (have only been nagging DP to do it for 2 1/2 months) took it very easy and it looks quite good now. Hemmed the curtains and hung them up as well. Bought some roman blinds today might attempt to fit one of them if DD sleeps this afternoon. Oh and I bought DD2 (strange saying that) her first outfit today. Very cute couldn't resist.

Does anyone else feel a bit harassed and impatient about things? I think it's because I want to get some of the DIY finished around the house, get Christmas sorted and get everything ready for the new baby. Oh and I'm very impatient DP calls me Monica from Friends as I'm so organised. We are going pram shopping at the weekend though.

Bit of an essay there, hope everyone else is doing ok, it's a lovely sunny day here today might take DD out for a rare walk this afternoon.

GeorginaP · 09/11/2005 12:06

Hi everyone. And welcome Sarah. Horseshoe - lovely to hear from you, so glad everything still OK.

Been a bit of a funny few days for me. Last week was having really bad pains in tummy and stitch didn't feel right. Finally admitted defeat and went to hospital on Sunday (v quiet on Sunday, we should all try and have our babies on a Sunday!). They hooked me up to monitor and doc came in to do an internal. Plus he had the BIGGEST damn torch to check out my stitch! Didn't know where to look when she shone it up my hoo-hoo . Poor DH trying to be supportive but also keep DD from having a good butchers too .

Anyway it turns out that I have an infection by my stitch which is why it was hurting. They have given me antibiotics that are so big they would gag a horse. Plus they make me feel really sick, last night I actually did a fantastic impression of the Exorcist!!!

Everything is OK with Beany, but they've asked me to take it easy for next four weeks and try not to put too much pressure on the stitch. DH would strap me to sofa if he had his way..... just wish this damn nesting instinct would bugger off so I could stop cleaning everything!

Talking of Boots stuff..... have you tried the Med range Preg Wonderbalm? Got it free with one of my vouchers. It's scrummy and really lubricates the old bump.

DH thinks I'm turning into a little Hitler after he came shopping with me to Sainsbury's. Kept giving him 'looks' when he picked up stuff that we didn't need. Then back seat drove all the way home and nagged him about putting up curtains!!!

Horseshoe - my DH in same position as your's! Sex? What's that?!! Not allowed to do anything because of stitch and it's more frustrating to do PG13 stuff than nothing at all. Will try and make it up to him after Beany born. But thought of flouncing around the bedroom in sexy nighty whilst still retaining baby weight doesn't appeal. Although he's going to be so glad of anything I bet I could just blow on it and it'd be all over!!!! Sorry, TMI

Got the all clear on gest diab. But I am aneamic. Iron tablets and constipation for me!

OK, am going to stop this novel now.

Hugs to everyone that's feeling hormonal, emotional or just down right miffed at being big and uncomfortable.

G xx

Rachey1969 · 09/11/2005 14:32

Loving all the new pics great to see you all and your ds/dd/dps!

Absolutely laughing (in a nice way!) at all the hormones and the sex stuff! Georgie, what a nightmare - you take it easy! Totally empathise, for some reason, even tho I'm fatter than ever before (including 2 wks overdue) and moan constantly about heartburn, trapped nerves, carpal tunnel etc etc dp seems to find me irresistable and I have to fight him off with a v-shaped cushion and acid burping! I think he likes the womanly, barefoot in kitchen thing. keeps talking about no.5... eek!

Horseshoe, glad you're holding in there and again totally empathise with the puppy situation! I think I will have to get a playpen to put the baby in to keep him safe from Billy nibbles! He would eat all the baby socks, hats, bibs etc

horseshoe · 09/11/2005 15:09

LOL I have a play pen to keep the dog in. It's her time out area when she nibbles my ankles but I end up with her yelping...then DD having a tantrum cause she cant hear Cebeebies.

DP has just gone mad cause new towels have just arrived from bid-up TV.......He's gonna get even more mad when he finds out the delivery i'm expecting tomorrow consists of a new computer desk/chair, a bathroom cabinet and a mobile phone. Better hope I get outbid on the new dining set from ebay!!!!! oooppps. I told him it's all to do with nesting and I want everything bright and new for the babies arrival. He said that would be OK but I do the same when we are expecting his mother to tea and that can't be nesting. I held back saying that the reason I do it for his mothers visit is because she's a fussy cow!!!!!

horseshoe · 09/11/2005 15:22

OMG the month after next you guys!!!!

sweetkitty · 09/11/2005 16:21

lol @ georgie our erm bedroom life has taken a nosedive as well, by the time I get the v shaped cushion sorted, toss and turn about 20 times, moan about the sacro-iliac pain, get some more pillows I think I have scared DP off! He says he scared to even suggest anything as I moan so much about turning over nevermind anything else. Poor man he still has the giant pants/sanitary towels/leaking boobs/feeding bras/jelly belly stage to come yet.

georgie - glad you checked out ok, pregnancy/childbirth is so undignifed!!!

horseshoe - I'm the exact same feel the need to be buying things right now.

Off to get some Rennie Rapeze tablets, good for the acid indigestion and less offensive than Gaviscon.

lyra41 · 09/11/2005 18:16

Hiya

Feeling a bit grot today. Our school's being inspected next week by the National Autistic Society and everyone's working themselves into a feverpitch of anxiety. One teacher went home in tears this afternoon, and my team leader is spending hours every night preparing everything - I just don't have the energy! I lazily think, oh it'll all be ok, they'll find a few things we need to improve, and then we'll follow their advice - doesn't sound too bad. Could do without it though.

Went for a lovely swim and jacuszzi last night, but then the car konked out, so had to spend hours waiting for the RAC and didn't get to bed till much too late. Definitely an early with a good book tonight.

As for action in the bedroom, as I've said before, dh and me are sleeping separately at athe mo, due to my tossing and turning and multitude of pillows, so not much action there. Still getting the erotic dreams from time to time tho, definitely missing dh, as he's always the star!

What else, nothing else to report really. Baby boy still very active and bump still very sore with BH.

Will try to think of something more positive to say next post! Sorry to be glum!

Tickle · 09/11/2005 19:14

HI gals...

welcome Sarah, and nice to hear from loomer & horseshoe - been wondering where you were

Cheered me up no end to hear about the various puppy & bedroom antics

sitting here with a bag of maltesers... dh has gone off to an evening meeting, so I got the kids into bed and will face the spectre of the washing up in a little while! Went to the doc today, and they did do a finger tip blood test, but blood sugars & haemoglobin normal. he puts the migraine down to a predisposition to them, and feeling low to hormones. Good to know blood is ok tho.

Still feeling a bit miserable - had a pathetic dream the other night about being ignored at a bar trying to buy drinks for an hour & a half (yes, it felt like a long dream!), and actually woke up in tears. That has never happened to me before.

As for the bedroom, I've been feeling very fruity throughout this pregnancy, much to dh's enjoyment Mind you, actually finding the energy to see it thru, and a comfortable position, is not as easy! So all those whose dps are getting zilch, there is not much to be jealous of chez Tickle

Georgie, glad to know Beany is ok, & good luck with the enormous a-bs. It's weird with the modesty thing - I used to be quite shy about flashing my bits at the doctor, but once I'd done labour, a boatload of Japanese tourists could march in & I wouldn't bat an eyelid!

Lyra - good luck with the inspection. my mum is a teacher & has exactly the same attitude to ofsted inspections. They have to find some things for you to work on, otherwise it's not worth paying them to do the job. I'm sure it'll go fine

Turning into a long post, this one! I'll finish off on a good note - dd2 is loving her childminder, and yesterday & today just said "bye bye mummy" and waved, before diving back into the play kitchen awesome!

T xxx

Eshay · 09/11/2005 20:15

Hi ladies,

Glad to read many of you aren't too active in the bedroom either. I don't really have too many pains and aches but I just don't really feel in the mood too often. And DH is a bit scared to hurt the baby so he never shows any signs of wanting any action. Still, it's nice not to feel pressured into anything.

Horseshoe, with my last pg I had loads of Raspberry leaf tea, curry and other spicey food all the time, sex the last few weeks AND a sweep but still nothing happened. At 42 weeks I was induced and even then nothing happened... My friend suggested jumping on a trampoline, which I didn't do for obvious reasons but afterwards I wish I had. Maybe some bouncing on a gym ball might do the trick

Mak · 09/11/2005 20:30

Hi all - you've all really cheered me up reading the last posts - pmsl.
Glad to hear that in the main everyone is doing OK. My GTT was fine but - like you Georgina P - extremely anaemic.
If it's any consolation to anyone else my libido has gone to the southpole and frozen me thinks. Brain says yes - but body says no, psychological? - probably.
Saw a new fantastic consultant last week - who congratulated me on choosing a VBAC this time (didn't have much say in CS last time) also told me he doesn't want to see me anymore for any scans etc. HOORAY
Looking at the stats thread you can put me down for a girl. Poor DH he'll have three of us nagging him now.
Lovely pics from everyone - will have to sort some out of us. Nesting is kicking in - just had baby's room replastered so hopefully will be in full action this weekend, carpets, curtains etc. Pram will be arriving next week. We just need to decide on a cot or cotbed - DD2 will be in the small bedroom so we're still not decided, how about the rest of you?
Bucket of maltesers beckons
M x

loomer · 09/11/2005 20:45

Ha! Loving the tales from the bedroom (or lack thereof, more to the point)... there's certainly nothing been going on chez Loomer for several months now, but lots of cuddles, which is lovely. Oh, and something called 'light touch massage', which is part of the hypnobirthing technique... basically featherlight strokes all over the back, arms, belly etc. Very nice too!

Am currently awaiting my jacket potato to finish in the oven - why do they always take longer than you think they should?! Am eating it with mackerel fillets, cucumber, tomato and homemade coleslaw, as I eat lots of rubbish at work during the day, and feel in need of something a bit more healthy and 'noble' by the time I get home.

Made a complete t*t of myself at work last week too, by falling over whilst walking along a completely flat and trip-hazard-free terrace... in front of a bunch of students too - what an idiot ! Came away with a big hole in my tights, and a large graze on my left knee... ran off to the nurse to get some TCP and a plaster, and felt just like I was five years old again!!

Really hope your infection clears up soon Georgie, poor you, bet you thought you'd got over all that vomiting by now .

Iris, no the photo of me and hubbie isn't at Bowood - what's that, I'm intrigued? It was taken at a friend's wedding at a hotel in the New Forest.

Good to hear from you Horseshoe, as upbeat as ever. I'm amazed that the surgeon is contacting you about prosthetics already - but as Iris says, hat must be a positive thing. I guess it would be nice to think that it's a decision which your daughter could be involved in later on...

Oh my lawks-a-lordie who else is freaked out about January being suddenly so close? So much to do before then... but only 30 working days left for me, yippee!

iris66 · 10/11/2005 06:43

Morning all - just a quick post before I get stuck in to making DD's birthday breakfast of scrambled egg & mushrooms on toast with some crispy bacon laid artistically over the top yummmm! (almost slipped into a little avertising reverie there...not just any birthday breakfast, this is a Marks and Spencers lovingly made by mum breakfast.....- I love those adverts
I think I get as excited as her when it comes to birthdays. Her b/f came over yesterday and left some flowers for her (3 roses, red, pink & white, ahhhh, cue Love Story music...la la la la laaaaa...) so I have to brave the cold in a mo to go & get them and it's right nippy noodles here today! I was going to chat more (& not just have an over excited verbal diarrhoea attack) but I can hear "stirrings"!.... more later!!

OP posts:
iris66 · 10/11/2005 08:27

well, she's gone to school an utterly happy bunny in a cloud of perfume.Where was I.....

Congrats to all of you who passed your glucose tests! am utterly jealous on my biccie ban but have come to terms with it and feel much better in myself now.
How are you felling now Georgie? - hope your pills have kicked in (excuse the horse reference.I know, I know....groan) and you're less uncomfortable now. Good excuse to get DH to wait on you hand foot and finger for a bit though (and good practise for him eh!)

Blimey is everyone doing a changing rooms for their new baby?! - Puts me to utter shame. All I've done is slap a quick coat of cream paint on - and that was because it was the only room left that we hadn't decorated. I haven't even thought of colour and co-ordinated stuff (although DD did mention last night she want to get him into pirates and sea faring stuff and it sounded like a nice theme)

Loomer - Bowood is a posh country house hotel & golf club near Chippenham (never stayed there, more's the pity, but went to a lovely wedding there in July). Your piccie looks very like the entrance to their grounds. PMSL at your tripping incident (sorry) it reminded me of when I was being clever once and decided to jump over a rope barrier (only about 8" high) in a long coat. Legs got tangled up and I went sprawling flat on my face - oooh the

Lyra - think all teachers deserve medals and a huge pay rise. It appears to have become so driven, yet constrained, by beaurocracy that it amazes me that we have any teachers left!

All the talk of "weeks left" is making me feel slightly nervous I have to admit (10 weeks & 3 days to go Need to go to do some nervous OCD style cleaning now to calm self down. ...(Iris slinks off, stage left, heads for the sink, dons rubber gloves and starts humming in slightly manic way....)

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 10/11/2005 09:02

aww hope your DD has a lovely birthday Iris.

Well I feel mega guilty about all these nurseries, DD2 isn't even going to get a nursery. She's got 4 drawers in DD1's chest of drawers and some hanging space in her wardrobe. She will be sleeping with us for the first year so I don't feel the need to splash out and decorate a room she won't be in.

Loomer - I feel over on the pavement in front of our offices at work whilst pregnant, a nice man kind of picked me up again but I was practically in tears, had to get DP (who worked across the road) to come and take me for a nice lunch.

Feel much better it's not just our bedroom that is a love free zone right now, had another bad night last night just couldn't get comfy whatsoever. It's a lot worse than last time and to be honest gets me down a lot as I'm usually an active person, still shouldn't complain theres women that have to spend months in hospital on bedrest. Still only 9 weeks to go to D-Day.

Sarah1976 · 10/11/2005 10:18

Thank you all what fun post, you have cheered me up no end!! Thought I was the only one who's hubby put her on a sex ban! With my 1st had the naughty dreams about an old boy at work in his 50's Yuk!! but this time was worse it was the young 17th yr old up the road cann't look him in the eye, felt like a right dirty old woman, thank god they've stopped!!
I love cocker spaniels had a ginger one bless him he was the best, now have very naughty 2yr old boxer who thinks shes the size of a spaniel not so bless (big dog = lots of mud in house)
I am longing for the nesting instinct to kick in house is a mess, just do not seem to get anywhere. As for baby changing rooms, live in a 2 bed bunaglow need to do loft and as we only have just over 7weeks to go and xmas on the way looking unlikely!! Panic!!!
I am going to get a friend to help put some pic on yahoo site as not very good with computers. So will let you know my progess.
Thank you all for being so friendly and welcoming!

Mumfun · 10/11/2005 12:28

hi all

Fab messages - dont know how you manage to do it with busy lives.

so sorry for Georgie -had infection on my stitches after DS birth and was indescribably bad so hope they sort you out well

had GTT too - felt really well then and got good result but then 10 days later have started to get really thirsty and seem to react badly to sugar and not feeling very well. so will see GP in the next week for something else and ask her what she thinks.

still havent sorted double buggy. not sure what to sleep baby in - have some offers so need to make mind up what to take. bedroom completely untouched for DS - but decided not to worry about it - DH will have a good bit of time off after birth so maybe get something done then. Babe will be with us for at least 4 months I think.

still very lucky in that can sleep but have to get up at least once nightly.

Have to cut down on the socialising as am getting a bit tired. went to kew yesterday and was gorgeous day but just cream crackered today! am going to wedding flying at 32 weeks but will take it easy.

getting exciting and near the time now -only 9.5 weeks. looking forward to DS birthday and XMas hoping babe does not arrive early.

bye for now. take care all

Eshay · 10/11/2005 12:54

Iris, happy birthday to your DD. That breakfast sounded wonderful! But how cayou love those M&S ads? The chicken they show is the most digusting overcooked chicken I have ever seen! The choccie cake at the end does look yum though, I have to admit.

We are not doing any redecorating for the new baby. His room is quite neutrally decorated (by the landlord) and this is fine with us. Some colourful sheets is all he will get to enjoy.

Georgia, hope you are feeling a bit better now.

PS - I put up one more pic on Yahoo of Ds when he was a newborn - very wrinkly

Rachey1969 · 10/11/2005 15:05

Wow, took me ages to catch up today, really nice! Just noticed teh stats thread is updated so must get over there too. It's suddenly dawning on me that I'M HAVING A BABY!!!

Happy Birthday to your dd, Iris - does it take you right back to her birth every year? Personally, I can't believe I will have a 12 year old soon - I'm too young! I still think I'm 22!

Good luck with the inspection Lyra, I think you have just the right attitude, way too much stress on teachers as it is.

Really awful day here again, was going to walk Billy up to school but think I will have to take my life in my hands and take dp's car (which just miserably failed its MOT). Anyone ever bought a car on ebay? We have found a nice estate near Reading and are going to see it on Saturday, I suppose it's no different from any private buyer (in fact we have got a buyer's report on it) but it feels weird somehow? There's nothing affordable locally.

I have finally gone mad and ordered tons of carpet, whoo hoo! That should get the paintbrushes moving! (Poor dp is working such long hours at the mo). Well they are coming to measure up on Monday. Dp's parents and sister are coming round for ' a painting party' so hopefully we (they) will get the loft room and stairs done at least. Only the hall, stairs and two bedrooms to go... It's not so much that baby needs a nursery but that dd needs to get up into the loft, her room is only 2m square - fine for baby's stuff which is currently in our bedroom. Dp mum taking me for some baby shopping (she just loves it - first grandchild etc) tomorrow.

Mumfun - everyone has their own preference, but mine was for a double pushchair side by side (ds2 and dd were 22 months apart - I didn't bother with ds1 and 2 - 25 months apart because I was working - different lifestyle - and we mostly pushed a buggy each or persuaded ds1 to walk). The kids will entertain each other and they are easier to push. Tandems are very front heavy (with older child in front) and difficult to get up n down kerbs etc. Also the baby can't see much. Do check your boot size of course but you can get some nice light buggy type doubles now. They will get through more doors than you might think - and if they don't - make a fuss! All public places should have disabled access (or help you) these days (a double buggy should fit through wheelchair access).

sweetkitty · 10/11/2005 16:24

Rachey thanks for the advice we are off pram shopping on Sunday, still don't know what to get! Like the idea of an e3 explorer but don't like the idea that the baby would be in the second seat and it's low to the ground. Don't like the tandems they look so bulky and child no 1 seems like miles away when you are pushing it. That leaves side by side! Needs to be able to fit into my Clio as well. Oh it's driving me mad.
