I also feel enormous in the evenings and stomach/bumps hurts from carrying the weight. Except the weight is probably going to double over the next couple of months!!!

And that's what I find most depressing!

I just want to sleeeeeep!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 13/01/2011 18:18

I'm 25 weeks tomorrow and I swear I look like I did before at term - although dh gives me a Hmm look when I say that.

I probably am being a bit highly strung about it Blush but I seem to be feeling all of the ailments about 2 months early than previously.

By the end of the day I swear I can feel the weight of my uterus pressing against my internal organs and my lungs. I also think it doesn't help that I'm eating my biggest meal of the day in the evening.

The only consolation is I remember feeling like this before and remembering even though you think you can't possibly get any bigger, you do and you cope with it as it's gradual.

hippy3 · 13/01/2011 18:45

excuse thanks for redirecting me here..its been a while !..... hope everyone is great. Am still trying to catch up on previous posts....

JustKeepSwimming · 13/01/2011 19:15

Hi Hippy :)

ILike - i am the same, sure that everything is bigger, sorer, more achier, etc than both previous pgs, sure it's all in my head. Oh the only thing that isn't is the boob leakage, no sign yet. Hmm

Liv77 · 13/01/2011 20:42

£75 pounds for a canvas changing bag Shock you wouldn't even be able to wipe it clean when the baby throws up all over it, no wonder Brad got it in leather Grin

architien · 13/01/2011 20:48

Hi there,

I like Avery too. I'm thinking Rose (I knew an old inspirational lady when I was a little girl called Rose who helped me a great deal and I have a thing for Roses, for some it's shoes for me when the David Austin catalogue drops on the doormat it warrents a special time set aside to enjoy it) for a girl and my boy name is unusual but I'm letting it sit for a while before I decide. Last time it was easier to pick boys names, this time its much easier to pick a girls.

On the changing bag front for Fraser I found this but on ebay and I've used it solidly almost every single day for 18 months with no sign of wear on it so plan to use it for this little one too:

On the subject of bump size/comfort: my aunt ccame up to Edinburgh to visit and told me that I looked ready to give birth now....
Ive taken to waking two of three times a night for loo stop and the pelvic pain is getting just plain annoying now. When I move in a certain way it can be eye watering but I had it last time and told them then qute a few times and nothing was done to help. This time I'm hoping to stay at home for birth and so I'm not bothering to ask them to do anything about the SPD as they just seem to have such kittens about the idea of a home birth in the first place even when the OB wrote on my notes clearly "suitable for home birth". Next week they Head of Midwifery wants to come to my house to talk me through things that can go wrong with childbirth.
I watched OBEM and saw The Screamer. My first reaction was repulsion that she was just making such a fuss until I realised that she was just plain scared and needed to be told she can do it, shes doing great etc not "screaming wont change anything". I read once in Midwifery Today that if a woman is a vocal type that loud moans in the very least can help with her perception of pain. I was quite quiet with Fraser a bit of grunting until they came to do the stitches afterwards, when I wasnt numbed by the needle properly and after about 5 stitches (which were fine just tuggy and a a bit sore)I felt everything they were doing and screamed quite loud. At the time I thought everyone felt them but Ive since found out that they just hadnt done the needle properly. Well I'll know next time. I just hope that I wont need them all together next time. Don't worry those who are horrified by this, thinking it may happen to them. I tore as Fraser was a back to back 9lb baby with his hand by his face and a midwife who told me i had a deadline in time so I produced him in one contraction, the chances of anyone here having that scenario is pretty slim.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 14/01/2011 08:56

I am 25 weeks today - hurrah. It feels like a milestone, the previous one was half way and the next one will be 30 weeks

ANyway, I just came here to say that Sainsburys have a 1/3 off baby wipes, nappies and accessories until 19th Jan.

Cyclebump · 14/01/2011 09:22

Told my mum I'd bought the nappy bag and she's desperate to 'practice pack' and put all the stuff in there.

She and dad are moving to France in about a month and I'm trying not to show her how much I'll miss her once she's gone. She's planning to come over for the birth (she's threatened to camp out in local friends' houses to wait it out if needs be) but right now having her around is so nice.

Thank goodness for MN!

JoEW · 14/01/2011 09:35

Oh Liv77 I hadn't even thought about getting vomit on it, just thought 'oh, that looks nice and DH probably wouldn't mind carrying it'. I have SO much to learn. I really haven't a clue! Off to find uni-sex style with wipe clean surface....

Also starting to get quite uncomfortable, though my bump isn't that big yet, only 26 weeks. My back, hips and pelvis are falling apart though. Is that normal? At the end of the day I feel as though I've run a marathon and I'm having to ease myself out of chairs. I haven't put on loads of weight so I guess it must just be softening ligaments. Went to yoga for the first time in a couple of weeks, after Christmas, and I really noticed the difference in what I could and couldn't do. Also, I seem to be getting water retention in my legs and feet, which is really sexy! I am sure my feet are bigger, shoes are tight, and I get big sock rings around my ankles at the end of the day. This is only going to get worse too, isn't it?!

Architien I think the name Rose is lovely. I do not think your story about tearing is though! Oof. Made my eyes water just reading it. I'm not surprised you screamed.

Petal I'll agree to labels if you do cat food - I am going to guess, Felix?

Off to a lovely hotel in Devon for a three day weekend this evening. Oh joy! Got a massage booked for tomorrow evening and they have a pool and spa. Yay, yay, yay.

Have lovely weekends all.

Zafnoodles · 14/01/2011 09:36

Thanks very much for your welcome.

I'm off to buy some nightware today. At the moment I have nothing I could wear in hospital if I end up there. Buying something to wear should hopefully mean it won't happen!

Poodle82 · 14/01/2011 14:37

Welcome Zaf and any other newbies to the thread.
I am currently at home and feeling sorry for myself with a cold. Managed to keep my temperature below 37.5 degrees despite sweating loads at night so hoping all is ok for the bump. He's definetely still kicking away and started to see the bump moving from outside now and not just feeling the kicks on the inside.
I'm 29 weeks now and have had the local NHS antenatal classes in the last week. They were done by the local community midwife and about 8 couples were there. Covered lots in the classes but now have about 10 weeks minimum till I can put it all into practice!

kittycatcat · 14/01/2011 16:14

Hi all

Welcome Marthamydear DaisyEmma and Zafnoodles

Jenat have you moved yet? Hope all went well.

Salted thanks for the great tips and am jealous you are almost on mat leave. I go 31st March, and hopefully for 7 months.

justkeepswimming try freecycle to get rid of your stuff.

JoEw i'm on the fence with Avery too. It doesnt offend. just not me :). I am also starting to struggle. Am moving slower and getting off the sofa is a mission and i am only 25 weeks! Have to walk vvvv slow too.

Re slings i just bought one on ebay by cot2tot, i tried it out at the baby show and it comes with instructions so fingers crossed.

I had the flu jab wed. All ok seemingly although kittens been v quiet today :(

Have good weekends all. x

marthamydear · 14/01/2011 17:40

Kitty cat - Just to let you know, I had the flu jab on Christmas eve and my little Roobs(baby) was really quiet on Christmas eve and Christmas day. I was worried sick - as I thought, what detrimental effects has the flu jab had on Roobs.

Thankfully by boxing day I was being punched and kicked again - so He is still going strong.

I learned today that a singer in a band I like (Broadcast) has died from Swine Flu (well Pneumonia) caused by contracting Swine Flu. I can believe it. She must have been around my age :-(

So sad x I'm pleased I had the jab now - just hope Roobs is ok too x

Love to everyone x

kittycatcat · 14/01/2011 17:54

Thanks Martha very reassuring. V sad re singer.

Petalouda · 14/01/2011 18:27

Woop! It's friday!

Sofa & tv aaaaallll weekend! :)

JenAT · 14/01/2011 19:04

Hi all,

kittycatcat move day is Wed 19th. Going to have a really fun weekend of packing, or trying to pack with a 3yr old underfoot. Luckily I'm not working all next week.

JoEW enjoy your spa weekend in Devon. I'm not at all jealous ...much.

I'm getting all stiff and achy now, especially in my lower back if I sit in the wrong position. Also I have started to do the pregnancy waddle walk especially when I have just got out of the car.

Cyclebump France is not too far away. Will they be moving somewhere nice with lots of room for you to go and stay?Smile I know I would really miss my parents if they moved abroad, even though my Mum can totally do my head in sometimes.

Well have a lovely weekend everyone, hope you get to put your feet up and relax.

Jaylar · 14/01/2011 20:23

Architien I have similar thoughts on being noisy during labour. I was quiet and calm. Thought that was what I was supposed to be. But the mws definitely underestimated both how much pain I was in and what stage of dilation I was at the whole way through. Hoping for the home birth option this time around but think I will resort to swearing and shouting if I feel I'm not getting my point across.

I should get the scary home visit later this month. I know they have to do it but when I did the pre-labour hospital visit with my first pregnancy no-one tells you then about all the stuff that can go wrong giving birth in hospital. You just have to get on with it regardless if you are at hospital, home or in the car park with your knickers round your ankles, as one rather unforunate woman in my local paper had to do this month. And her wee baby is just fine. Though her car uphosltery is buggered I'll bet.

3 months to go this weekend!

Cyclebump · 14/01/2011 21:51

My parents will have a spare room and I'll the going over at some point in May. DP wants me to go over for about a month and he'll fly over on weekends. Mum is anxious to spoil me for a bit and she and dad are really excited about the baby so want to dote on the grandchild. Bless them Smile

SaltedPretzels · 15/01/2011 09:56

Cycle You have it made, nice bit of pampering for you and baby, I'm envious, enjoy the rest!

Hippy Lovely to see you back, I wondered where you'd sneaked off to x

Kitty Baby also went quiet for a couple of days after he jab, but kicking up a storm now though HmmGrin x

caramellokoalalover · 15/01/2011 11:22

It's the weekend - hooray! I am living for the weekends at the moment. Same as some of you, by the evenings my bump is massive and heavy. Is it bloating or food or what?! Very strange! All I want to do is lay on the couch and I know that I should be upright on the ball but it's so hard not to give in to the temptation of nice, soft, squishy couch. Especially when I did everything right with DS and he was back-to-back anyway!

Hippy glad to hear everything is going well!

Cycle what a fab plan to go to France and get looked after by your mum and dad, that will be lovely.

Now that the date is approaching where we can't travel too far I'm starting to get really itchy feet and am dreaming of a holiday. We're moving in 3 weeks though so maybe the old saying that a change is as good as a holiday will ring true Hmm

Hope everyone enjoys the weekend!

JustKeepSwimming · 15/01/2011 11:32

We've booked a weekend away in Norfolk in a few weeks time. i hope that will ease a certain amount of itchy feet Hmm

Got brother & his GF coming later for the night, DS1 particularly loves my brother :)

architien · 15/01/2011 11:53

I'm watching Saturday Kitchen there are french pastries, figs and a cake with fresh raspberries and chocolate. With my present ever growing bump it's like watching food porn. I've had to open the window...in winter...in Scotland.

I had what I thought was a great idea in the middle of the night. From here on I'm going to be magneticly drawn toward the sofa and after the birth I'm hoping to breastfeed so I expect to be sat for a while recovering/feeding..I thought it was a great idea to start encouraging the birds to come into the garden that way I've an extra bit of something to entertain me. Great plan I thought...they've about half a kg of various bird food out there but no show so far :(

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/01/2011 12:26

We're going for a night away for dh's 40th in March. I think most pregnant couples try to get away before the baby is born, I guess you're more aware it will be the last time for a while Grin

architien - I'm sure I've read somewhere that new bird feeders take a while to get established. The birds check out the joint for a while before they trust it - iyswim. It was the same with ours, and it also doesn't help that EVERY house in our village has bird feeders as well.

In my previous pregnancies I've never been that interested in food, yet this one I could eat my bloody face off given half the chance Blush

GoldFrakkincenseAndMyrrh · 15/01/2011 14:38

With you all on the getting away! We're off to SA for a week in Thursday just the 2 of us and I'm hoping we can manage another weekend in March for DHs birthday.

And then that'll be it until baby's arrived!
