My bump is now stick out further than my boobs.

So I no longer look like a fat woman, I now look like a pregnant fat woman Grin

I've gained about 8lbs since I felt pg, but I am trying to manage my weight as I am already a lot overweight.

LisasCat · 30/01/2011 09:09

Morning all, can I have a quick consensus of who else isn't feeling the baby move yet? I'm currently 19+3, and still haven't felt the little blighter. I'm trying not to let it concern me, I know there are a million reasons why the baby could be perfectly safe but in a position I can't feel. It's just niggling a little. It's got to the point now where I'm thinking of not taking DD to the scan on 7th Feb, in case it's bad news, even though to not take her would be a logistical nightmare, not to mention the fact that she knows it's coming up and would be upset to realise we didn't take her to this one.

So who else has a stubborn so-and-so in their tummy who's refusing to put their mind at ease?

jasmine51 · 30/01/2011 09:23

Hi Lisa, hows the nits+ village lurgy?
I have been aware of bubbling movement for a little while but can honestly say nothing like kicks til last day or so - I'm 20+3. This time last week I saw the MW and reported I hadnt felt anything significant and was worried. There is nothing on my notes re the position of the placenta...have they put anything on your last scan report? You know about the anterior placenta effect I'm sure.

takethatlady · 30/01/2011 09:46

Hi lisascat I'm 19 weeks today and I don't think I've felt the baby move. I thought I did at 15 weeks but then nothing. Then yesterday and the day before I thought I felt very tiny sort of folding/bubbling movements in my tummy, but my tummy was rumbling at the same time (I am suddenly starving) so I really don't know if it was anything at all.

And that's it. So no definite movements at all. I've googled it and it can be up to 22 weeks before you feel the baby so I really think it's nothing to worry about (I've heard the baby's heartbeat twice and had a scan at A&E since Christmas so, despite no movement, things seem to be absolutely fine).

Try not to worry, and have a Bear :)

Clarkiee · 30/01/2011 10:01

ttl is right jas51 my doctor said that it can be up to 22 weeks too. One of my friends who is a week or so in front of me said she could feel hers moving all the time and at the time I couldn't feel mine at all- but a just a week later they wouldn't keep still, so I bet all of a sudden you'll just start to be able to feel baby all the time.

My bump is pretty prominant now (although still getting the 'your bump is small' and a few 'your bump is big' comments Confused). A few semi strangers have now asked 'when are you due?' a few times so it must have gone past the 'pot belly' Grin stage. Had a strange compliment last night 'wow you look great you don't even look pregnant from behind' Hmm. Glad to say I've not filled out everywhere yet but there is still plenty of time Wink.

What are we all up to today?

Clarkiee · 30/01/2011 10:02

Sorry baby movements comment was meant for lisacat too x

Clarkiee · 30/01/2011 10:04

Oh another quickie kiddiecare sale ends tomorrow still quite a few bargains left www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/TopCategoriesDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10751&msg=

bananarama05 · 30/01/2011 10:11

Good to hear all is ok jasmine, I too am a little freaked out by the placenta with a mind of it's own image!

We ended up at Mcdonalds before the show! Went to 6 or 7 different places (Chiquitos/Nandos/Ask/Prezzo etc) which all had an hour+ wait for a table at 6pm! Show started at 8 so we were going to go back for food after, thinking we'd be done by 10 but he tried out a load of his stuff for an ITV show he's doing tonight so we didn't get out til 10.40 and abandoned food for bed! Bloody funny though Grin

TTL a friend of mine also has a Freeway and a Focus and mentioned she can only just get it on so I know it's not practical... but I still like it :) We're DP's 306 has done over 90,000 miles now so he's just going to drive it til it dies then we might get rid of both cars and get a nice shiny new one on lease. We're just trying to figure out if we could cope with just the 1 car again.

Lisas I'm 22 weeks today and still haven't really felt what I'd call "proper" kicks. Lots of bubbling etc but no real kick sensations. I'd hardly had anything before my 20wk scan. At my scan however bubs was ALL over the place, grabbing toes, wriggling about etc and I've borrowed a friends angel sounds and found the heartbeat both time I've tried so it can be ok. As other have said you could have an anterior placenta blocking you feeling movements. I know it's easier said than done but please do try not to worry and look forward to your scan.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend, who wants to tidy my house for me so I can stay here on the sofa? Grin

bananarama05 · 30/01/2011 10:14

Ooh quick question, is anyone else REALLY REALLY snotty when they first get up in the morning? It's starting to wake me up sometimes as well and am really hoping I'm not getting ANOTHER cold :(

sasamaxx · 30/01/2011 10:21

bananarama I feel like my nose is slightly blocked pretty much all the time - it's V annoying.

Jasmine that beginning bit of the Horse Whisperer is so awful. Did you read the book? Then endiong of the book is absolutely horrific as well - totally depressing. They changed it in the film for some reason.

jasmine51 · 30/01/2011 10:22

Look out everyone I've just taken some Lactulose...the results could be explosive!

The bleeding thing continues this morning - still brown and messy. I'm pretty sure at scan they are going to find a placental abruption as I am quite tender on the right hand side with sharp stabs. Hope its not too serious but instinct tells me I'm going to have to take things very very easy from now on. I kind of had a strong feeling yesterday that bump was telling me he was ok but that he might not wait full term to appear - hard to explain but it was a weird strong feeling. Not sure I want the honour of being the first delivery in our group, we'll see.

Lisa if you are worrying alot is there any chance of getting hold of a doppler to put your mind at rest? I have just sent mine back otherwise I'd offer to send DH over with it (dont worry, he's a medical man not just some perve!)

Jasmine So happy to hear all is good.
Lisascat I am also 19+3 today. I feel what are more like very brief pulses inside low down, the kind that I mistook for muscle spasms until I decided it was the baby. I recommend hiring a good Doppler for a month or buying one, to make these next weeks more reassuring. Whatever people say, once you get a worry into your head very little can make it go away apart from a doctor saying 'Everything is perfect'. The Doppler can have a little bit of that effect.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 30/01/2011 11:59

banana I have snot every morning and thought it was a left over from the christmas cold, but reading your question I suddenly remembered reading in the bounty book the extra phlegm(sp?) is normal at this time of pregnancy.

jasmine what a scarey time it sounds like you're having. Good you went and got yourself checked out though. Fingers crossed all stays okay.

Nothing much doing here beyond the vagaries of my guts (won't share). 20 weeks this weekend. Halfway Grin

Clarkiee · 30/01/2011 12:05

I'm very snotty at the moment (not extra in the morning jsut got a general cold- althought the extra phlegm makes sense)- glad I purchased man sized tissues!!!

Clarkiee · 30/01/2011 12:53

Anyone recommend a shop with good maternity tights? Last night I put a pair of ordinary black tights on- they were tight on my bump but dug in my hips if I put them below my bump- so I got a pair of scissors and cut a big slit at the front of the tights to allow my bump to breathe Grin Blush. Worked a treat but think I better invest in some tights.

sasamaxx · 30/01/2011 14:45

I think the h&m tights are supposed to be pretty good Smile

79monica · 30/01/2011 14:52

I got some h&m tights last week and they seem fine. No digging in and didn't fall down either. £5 for 2 pairs. Smile

ohnomummy · 30/01/2011 16:28

lisa i didnt feel anything till 20 weeks! not a bubble flutter or kick! went to the midwife to ask if all was ok and waiting in the waiting roon felt an almighty kick! and they have been hit or miss since and that was only last week haha its also my second so i thought id feel them sooner! i dont know what your midwife is like but mine is happy for me to call (well she says she is haha) and she will let me listen to heartbeat :)

Clarkiee · 30/01/2011 17:02

Thank you sasa and monica we have an H&M in twon so will pop in next week xx

nicki1978 · 30/01/2011 19:14

lisa I am 20 weeks tmw and I have also felt nothing (at least I don't think I have), but figured it might be down to me being 4 stones overweight to start with (I have been told that was about 2 inch of fat, lol, not sure how true that is Grin. My belly has in the last week or two popped out and I look more pregnant than fat, lol Grin xx

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow so that should put my mind completely at rest. xx

nicki1978 · 30/01/2011 19:18

bananarama - Yep, I have a bunged up nose as well (particularly through night and morning) and thought it was because I'd had a cold on and off for last couple of months and it was back end of that.

I had a look in my Pregnancy for Dummies (would recommend) book and it says in there about Nasal Congestion pretty much can be part and parcel of being pregnant, so man tissues at the ready. Also, my DH has taken to waking me up several times a night as I've taken up snoring, lol xx

vdelacruz · 30/01/2011 19:22

Hi there!
My name is Virginia. I'm 32, married and living in Kilburn, due on June 18th. I am desperately looking for some antenatal classes I can go to with my husband, whether it is yoga, breathing, relaxation, swimming, etc, we just want to prepare together for the birth of our first baby!
Anyone knows about antenatal lessons for both parents in North London?
Thanks!!!
V

jasmine51 · 30/01/2011 19:30

banana snot? yup, had it since day 1 and also nose bleeds constantly.

v Hiya. Not from North London I'm afraid but I'm sure someone here will be and can help you. Have you tried the NCT website as a first port of call?
Congrats on your first LO, plenty of us first timers here to share stories with!
