clarkiee I don't know about boost of energy as such, but I feel a lot more like my normal self this last week and I could not be happier about it :)

I haven't done...any... exercise in the last 20 week if I'm honest, really should sort that out now I actually feel up to it!

I've finally ventured onto ebay today and am now worried I could spend a small fortune. Looked at travel systems, cots and moses baskets, what else would people recommend off there?

Scan tomorrow, I'm still freaking out a little about PCK or something not else not being right so have been trying not to think about it too much. There's someone else having theirs tomorrow too, sorry I forget who, but good luck :)

sasamaxx · 19/01/2011 22:15

TTL - so sorry that you've been so upset Sad - you described exactly how I feel when someone upsets me when pregnant so I do understnad. Try to rest and look after yourself - some people just don't consider other people's feelings enough and don't seem to have any sensitivity whatsoever.

Swanny sorry you had a horrible reaction to your flu jab - hope it all settles down really soon for you.

Jer79 You know for a lot of people, the stage at which the pain actually becomes unbearable is the 'transition' stage when the baby is about to be born Smile. I understand you'd like to know that the pain will stop at a specific point - but sometimes, if you hang on just a tiny bit longer, the baby is born and you didn't need an epidural at all. There is nothing wrong with epidural, of course, but intervention leads to more intervention and all that Smile

sasamaxx · 19/01/2011 22:17

Oh - almost forgot - had my 20 week scan today Grin
The baby was in a very awkward position so although she managed (eventually) to do all her measurements, the sonographer couldn't tell if boy or girl so the decision to find out/not to find out was taken completely out of my hands.
Anyway, the baby weighs approx 1lb 1oz at the moment and has really cute feet Grin

takethatlady · 19/01/2011 23:13

clarkiee me too. The right side of my chin is a constant spot-fest.

Glad some people are getting more energy! I wasn't very tired in the first trimester but I'm knackered now! Aww thank you sasamaxx, it's all sorted out now - just a silly misunderstanding and all has come out in the wash. To be honest I now think it was maybe a bit my fault Hmm Grin but everybody is laughing about it so I feel much better. I hate getting upset! Roll on tomorrow and a new day :)

And congratulations on your scan! 1lb 1oz already! I didn't know that the weights would be that much by now! Wow - makes it feel real. And now you'll get a lovely surprise when the baby is born. Grin at 'cute feet' :)

Merlion · 20/01/2011 05:53

Jer like Gillzz I felt really sick this time and had nothing with DS. My skin has been terrible this time and last time. Also that Chinese Astrological Predictor that someone linked to on here ages ago was correct too. Also people here in my office seem to go by shape of bump. My bosses PA predicted correctly last time for DS (when I didn't find out) and told me last week that I was having a girl so she's been right twice now.

TTL and Sasa I've been exactly the same - really over sensitive to comments at work and getting very wound up about things that really aren't my issue.

Sasa it always seems strange now that you won't get to see the baby again until it's born. Probably because I have a scan every month. I had to 'book' my room/bed for delivery on Tuesday and decide which 'package' to go for (we have to pay for everything as not citizens so not entitled to medisave or anything like that) so have just gone for normal delivery at the moment and if I need anything else they will add to it. Was still very scary though - made it more real!

AlmightyCitrus · 20/01/2011 09:08

I got really spotty when I had my DS. I suppose it could be something to do with the baby pumping out male hormones.

I wasn't sick much with any of my other 3, and am quite chuffed to say that despite feeling queasy for a few weeks early on, I've not actually been sick at all this time.

Hello everyone.

Thanks for all your kind messages last week. Have been prodded, poked, blood pressure taken, had a blood test and everything else and hopefully will find out this afternoon with the midwife whether I need an iron supplement or something similar to stop more of the silly fainting. It was so kind of all of you to post and make me feel less guilty and it really does mean a lot - so thank you again.

Went for my 20 week scan this morning. It's a girl! Can't believe it. We've been calling her Brucie for the past 4 months and the poor thing is a girl. Everything looks OK at the scan and we're very happy. When they were doing the measurements they said that the stomach was a little larger than 20 weeks and the legs a little shorter (only by a day or 2, nothing to worry about), sounds like me with a round tum and dumpy legs!

Must try and knuckle down and think of some girl names now as we've been concentrating on boys' for so long. I love Esme Rebecca (I would have been called Esme if it was my Mum's turn to choose, and Rebecca is the name of my childhood best friend who died when we were little). What a surprise, DP doesn't like either.

Hope you're all feeling well and have a great weekend!

jasmine51 · 20/01/2011 11:48

Daisy Brucina? Brucella? Brucine? ha ha. My DH named our bump years ago (!) until I pointed out that is could actually be a girl so he just came up with ridiculous female versions of the boys names! It is a boy so we're safe thank gawd.

Had a nice apt this morning with the new MW -she actually said I looked nice and trim, not like a walrus at all! I LOVE HER!

Also got my ebay delivery of baby clothes..nearly burst into tears, sooooo cute. I have the furry teddybear suit sitting in the car seat in front of me at the moment...hope no-one drops in!

Clarkiee Its not surprising you havent got the 'energy surge' yet - you are packing a double load, doesnt that make everything later anyway?

Have a good day everyone x

treez10 · 20/01/2011 12:23

Hi everyone. Ok for a newbie to join?? I am due 30 June for baby number 2. I have a daughter who is 2 years old. Erm....don't know what else to say really!

Anything else you want to know? :)

Anyway, hope you are all blooming by now! I am so glad to be through that horrid nausea stage.

Looking forward to chatting with you.

CMH1stbaby · 20/01/2011 12:30

morning everyone, I am also a newbie!

Its my first baby, due on 21st June.

Found all your messages and news really reassuring as don't really know any pregnant women to check in with!

Am starting pregnancy yoga tonight as part of my new years resolution to get off the sofa Grin

xx

AlmightyCitrus · 20/01/2011 12:55

Hello! treez10 and CMH1stbaby

DaisyFields · 20/01/2011 13:00

Hello treez and cmh, lovely to meet you!

Bruce has been temporarily renamed Sheila :)

Jer79 · 20/01/2011 13:06

Merlion and Clarkiee Thanks - the old wives' tales are mainly a lot of codswallop then I suppose? I can't use the high/low bump thing that worked for your boss Merlion, as my bump is well and truly hiding under my tum Blush Thank goodness for 20 week scans!

LeroyJethroGibbs I'm having really, really crappy nightmares too.

Jasmine Love your MW!

Daisy Those are gorgeous names. Hope your DH comes round, they are really beautiful, as are your reasons for them.

I just found out something a bit annoying. All the money my friends got when they had their babies - the 'cot and pram' money of about £290 before the baby comes, and the trust fund money of £250 that everybody also gets after the baby is born for when their child turns 18 - well we 2011 ladies won't see a penny of it. The Coalition apparently changed the rules in August 2010. A bit miffed tbh. Sad Anybody know anything different?

Also (and unrelated to my last comment I swear!) has anyone using Angelsounds been noticing their heart rate is getting higher after 17 weeks? Mine is about 92. Googled it Confused and apparently it's all normal but just wondering if anyone else noticed it too?

neenewps · 20/01/2011 13:08

Hi all

Welcome to the newbies waves and hello to the oldies waves again :o

Have been reading but not posting as I have had my Mum visiting for 4 days so have been busy there.

My bump seems to have appeared overnight! Even my Mum said that it had grown in the 4 days she was here! I think I have also felt 2 kicks when I had my hand resting just above my pubic area... very excited about that!

Got my scan date through for 2nd February... still undecided whether to find out if it's a boy or girl although my DH is certain that he is knowing Hmm

We call the bump Glenda Brenda!! :o

OP posts:
neenewps · 20/01/2011 13:10

ps my Mum and some of my friends and me, are convinced I am having a girl as my weight gain seems to be all over rather than just a bump.

jer79 We don't get the HIP (health in pregnancy) but if it's your first child I think you still get the child trust fund but the amount has been lowered. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

OP posts:
LisasCat · 20/01/2011 13:30

An easy way to tell about the trust fund money - have you seen any info from banks in your maternity packs? When I had DD every Bounty pack was crammed with leaflets from financial companies promoting ways to invest your child's £250. I don't think I've seen anything this time around. I'd take that as proof it's completely gone, for first born as well. Or maybe I'm just a cynic because I work in marketing!

swannny · 20/01/2011 13:41

Hi treez10 and CMH1stbaby Welcome to our little thread :)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 20/01/2011 13:42

No trust fund or HIP grant for us, thanks the f*ing ConDems Angry

GDMT - poor you maybe try a different physio doesn't sound like he was very good!

Congrats to all those who now know the sex, maybe a time for an update on the stats!

Welcome newbies!! We chat alot and I can't keep up!

My scan tomorrow!

Sassamax Grin your baby's cute fee. I confess I am obssessed with my DS's feet he really does have very cute feet and I love kissing his toes and making him giggle. DOubt I'll be doing that once he is a smelly teenager Grin

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/01/2011 13:42

I'm posting just to put this at the top of my threads I'm on list, otherwise I'll keep going back to another thread I've posted on and writing more. I already have enough stress in my life with out letting MN add to it!Grin

CMH1stbaby · 20/01/2011 13:47

neenewps - my bump has also appeared from nowhere in the last few days, I think that's what's got me organised with yoga and also looking on here! it finally seems more real!

LeroyJethroGibbs & jer79 - I've also been having bad dreams and normally I sleep like a log Confused

jasmine51 · 20/01/2011 14:12

URGENT south oxon ladies - baby shop gone bankrupt at Benson marina - stock being given away. travel systems, moses baskets etc -builders want to clear everything....get down there!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/01/2011 14:17

And now i've actually read everyones posts. Hello Newbies. It's great that people feel comfortable joining in at this stage. Grin We must be a friendly lot.

Just tried lookinga t ebay for moses baskets and they're all pick up only and miles and miles away. Never mind, we need to move house before getting all that stuff anyway.

Jer79 · 20/01/2011 14:17

I just found this info on a bank website. Sad No money for us.

If these sods now vote in their 1% pay rise...

crumbletastic · 20/01/2011 14:21

Welcome new ladies!

This might not be a popular opinion but I am glad the HIP grant and the trust fund have been scrapped. Whilst I believe that ladies who can't afford it should get some help, giving every pregnant lady 'cot and pram' money is frankly ridiculous. And that £250 grant will be practically worthless in 18 years time so I'd rather it went to people who need help now.

And bloody jealous of those oxon ladies, run run get your freebies!
