I have my 20 week scan on Wednesday sarahmumtobe (I'm called Sarah too you know) Grin

jasmine51 · 16/01/2011 13:55

Mother and Lisa Im about to be given a whole load of baby girl clothes. If I refuse them the donator will know we are having a ds, if I accept them our new bub will grow up 'confused' do you know what you are having or know anyone who is defo having a dd and would like a rummage? Its going to be good stuff, my neighbours are more Fortnum and Masons than Lidl if you know what I mean!

jbells · 16/01/2011 14:32

just a quick one to let everyone know if u register for the asda baby group u will get a free voucher to print off for a huggies newborn starter kit and inside the started kit the is a £2 off newborn nappies which makes them around a pound :)

misshoohaa · 16/01/2011 14:33

I have my 20 week scan too! Friday - can't wait to see the little wormy again!

I've juse end DH a text ordering asking him to bring me home cake - either chocolate or coffee. It's all I can think about!

Having a very lazy day today, still in bed albeit dressed, although our whole downstairs is being renovated so there is not really anywhere else to go. Can't wait to the kitchen is finished so I can bake again!

Clarkiee · 16/01/2011 14:52

Had a viewer of our house today. A young couple who were DH's former neighbours and I worked with the girl too. They have already put an offer on a house on our street and have had trouble with it and decided that one wasn't to be. They seemed to really like it and discussed putting in a private offer (as estate agents haven't been involved) Grin plus they are getting married in April so want to move as closely to that as possible (which fits in with our urgency to move). Fingers crossed Smile.

Got an observation of my teaching tomorrow. Hopefully my lovely new boss will remember my horrible week and take it easy on me Wink

Heard someone mentioning HEART BURN- I HATE IT!! It just comes from nowhere- we've asked the milkman to bring us another pint a week.

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and its exciting to hear about your shopping trips- can't wait to go on a big one myself. Its great that some of you live near each other! Does anyone live in Greater Manchester/ Lancashire area? (I know a couple of people do but I can't remember who Blush).

Take care preggers ladies Grin

jasmine51 · 16/01/2011 15:43

clarkiee Your house viewers sound promising...things are defo on the up for you now x
By the way, doing our research trip for buggies yesterday I kept thinking of you when I saw all the doubles - so cute. Do you know if your two are likely to be identical?

Clarkiee · 16/01/2011 15:59

Hi jasmine how are you?

Can't wait to go buggy shopping Grin! Did you decide on one by the way? (sorry you might have already said but not had chance to read all posts).

These twins are identical because identical twins share the same placenta. Non-identical twins have their own placenta- and are basically siblings that happen to get cooked at the same time Grin. Non-identical twins usually come with less complications (which I have found out is true the last couple of weeks).

jasmine51 · 16/01/2011 16:14

Wow, how lovely really excited.
Yes I've settled on a buggy, a Baby Jogger City Elite. It wouldnt be everyones cup of tea but it suits us well, and the collapse mechanism is a dream so that swung it. Desperately trying to hold off from buying one til dh gets home so he can be involved in the choosing process!

Clarkiee · 16/01/2011 17:50

Ah we've been considering the Baby Jogger mini Metro Double. Fantastic reviews and like you say easy to collaspe making it user friendly.

The couple came back and put in an offer- the asking price!!!! So pleased, can't believe it. Already started deciding which of our furniture to put where in the house we looked at last week Grin. Don't want to carried away because everything is subject to conditions but- woo hoo can't help but get excited!

Hmm Hmm better get on with my bloody school work- struggling to concentrate now

jasmine51 · 16/01/2011 18:26

Clarkiee so SmileSmilefor your news!

Hey all, I've just made my first purchase! Bought a maxi cosi car seat...can I officially get excited now or do I have to put it straight in the wardrobe and not play with it for a few months?

jasmine51 · 16/01/2011 18:29

Oh and clarkiee I was told by the guy in the Babyworld shop that the Baby Jogger Mini is due to have a new model released in March that has a firmer fabric base. It will however go up in price at that point so maybe check which model you are buying when the time comes...and get mega £ off if its the older model!

Clarkiee · 16/01/2011 18:36

Thanks Jasmine Grin

You can defo get excited now especially as you must be at or very near to the half way point now! Thanks for tip on jogger. The double one has £70 off at kiddiecare.com. Going to go for a play at mothercare next week and if we like it buy it online for less Wink

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/01/2011 19:09

Misshoohaa - we're scan buddies, I have my 20 week scan on Friday Grin

Jasmine - well done for your clear out, you must have started nesting already. Grin at finding the suspenders, I reckon that is worth a bunch of roses and a box of posh chocs ;)

I'm really itching to start buying things, especially since that Mothercare one is currently in the sale with £50 off!

I've now spotted this one though!

knackered76 · 16/01/2011 19:48

Clarkiee Hooray on the house offer Grin! Good luck tomorrow with your observation, they were always the most fun part of my job too!

Jasmine Go ahead, get excited! I am determined to start getting more excited about this pregnancy as it's likely to be my last one. Just waiting to get the scan out of the way and then bring on the excitement :)

Scan tomorrow, midday. Half excited, half dreading . ... will let you all know!

Have a nice evening ladies :)

smellyeli · 16/01/2011 19:58

Um, can I join your lovely thread? - you all seem to know each other by now, but I am due 25th June (DC3 - DS is 6, DD is 2) and don't really know anyone else due around the same time. My current main concerns are keeping my trousers from falling down and being very keen that people realise I am not just paunchy. (as well as the usual and more serious concerns that don't seem to get better despite having done this twice before!)and it would be lovely to be in touch with people at the same sort of stage, even if none of you have any problems with your trousers (sorry, have not read whole thread, but was pointed to it from another one) Smile

moomin156 · 16/01/2011 20:40

Hey all. hope you have all had a good weekend. We have spent our looking at prams.....what a new world i am starting to live in. Its worse than buying a car.
We want a pram which combines a cot with a pram. Dont want to be able attach car seat so thats not important. We are lucky that budget is not really restricted but the less we pay the more we have for other stuff. I dont like trendy, want a big basket and 4 wheels.
We liked the babystyle oyster and also the silvercross freeway ( linear chassis), but both have pros and cons. Anyone got any thoughts????

MainlyMaynie · 16/01/2011 20:53

Gosh all these people buying things makes it seem very real! I'm only 17 weeks, so won't actually be buying anything big for a while, but I've been looking!

Moomim, one of my main things for a pram is a big shopping basket with easy access whether you have the cot or pushchair on it. I'm shocked at how small and inaccessible some of them are! The Britax B Smart has a large and accessible basket and comes in a 4 wheel model.

Welcome smellyeli. I'm due the day after you and seem to have developed a proper bump this week.

LisasCat · 16/01/2011 21:09

Jasmine thank you for the offer, but if our bump turns out to be a girl, we've got all of DD's clothes up in the loft. But if it's a boy we have to send family and friends out to buy us clothes as pressies! Of course, even if it is a girl, there's no harm in having extras, and hopefully we'll find out at next scan on 7th Feb. Why don't I say yes, we'd love to, and then if it turns out I'm cooking a blue one, I can take yours along to the charity shop in the same run as taking all of DD's.

sasamaxx · 16/01/2011 21:36

Welcome to the thread smellyeli Smile

Oh Clarkiee that is fantastic about your house - bet you are soooo excited. Mine has been on the market for 20 months Shock

Jasmine I know 3 people round here who have the baby jogger city mini and they all love it.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 16/01/2011 22:01

Welcome SmelliEli. I recommend having a look on Kiddicare, a lot of good brands and they have some bargains. They tend to have lots of reviews, though always a bit Hmm at the reviews from people who have just bought the pushchair but haven't actually got the baby to put in it yet!

Gracos are good, I had one before and they have nice big shopping baskets and you can buy ones with travel cots. They are reasonably priced too. Mothercare stock some Gracos so worth popping in and having a look.

79monica · 16/01/2011 22:03

smellyeli I have the same problem with falling down maternity jeans at the moment! I bought my third pair last week in an attempt to find a pair that doesn't sag as soon as I start walking (luckily I haven't cut the tags off one of the pairs so I can still return them). Hopefully this problem will get better as my bump gets bigger and fills out the over-bump elastic to hold the jeans up?!

My 20 weeks scan is on Wednesday, can't wait! DH is very jealous that I have started to feel movements but that he can't feel them yet so he is really excited to see the baby again.

We took my MIL to see Strictly Come Dancing Live yesterday as a surprise for her 60th. I didn't really watch it on TV but really loved the show and when Jimi Mistry was dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller the baby started to move around loads Smile. If it's a boy it might get Michael or Jack as a middle name in honour of its dancingGrin (not Jackson as I'm not keen on surnames as first or middle names).

Welcome Smellyeli

I have to say that I feel my boobs weigh about 10 tons now - they are literally dragging me down. I got my first wireless bra and am dreading wearing it in public due to the dire mono-bosom it seems to result in!

I've also got a cramp just under my right boob in the last hour - like a jabby pain Confused. Anyone else had a stitch like feeling?

Fingers crossed Clarkiee on the house!

At 14 weeks I hadn't gained any weight from pre-preg weight but I feel like i have balooned in the last week or so - I don't own a scales and the MW locally refuses to weigh people as we are 'too multicultural' for it to be meaningful Biscuit. Have any of you gained quite a bit already?

jasmine51 · 17/01/2011 05:32

gdmts weight? Oh yes, enough for me to be having a house not a baby! I actually put most of mine on in the first few weeks and now I am a bit more mobile I think its levelling off a bit. Just as well because I'm sure my MW tutted last time! Why is weight multiculturally sensitive? Sheesh!

AlmightyCitrus · 17/01/2011 09:02

The midwives where I live are bloody obsessive about weight. I am very overweight. I know that, and I've got a good idea of my pre-pregnancy weight. I refused to be weighed. Don't need the added pressure of being lectured about it.

As it happens, pregnancy has made me (almost) stop drinking and eat better, and as a result I've lost loads of weight. I'm still wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans, and have a fair bit of room left in them.
