Managed to get back on - library staff have never seen me so much. Just hope they don't mention the book fines...Glad to hear the sleepset is almost bought Chacha - I always think that once it's in your mind for more than 10 mins, it's yours for keeps, and is simply a case of ordering it (oh yes, and paying for it...)And just think if you have more beanies, it will always be there, waiting for you...
Actually, have just had quite a traumatic antenatal appointment. Only went in for anti-D injection, but they did a general check-up too. Out came the measuring tape (never had one of these used before!), and midwife proclaimed she 'wasn't happy'. Apparently measuring 31 weeks, instead of 34. So off I went down to ultrasound, very anxious, particularly in light of past growth concerns. Sonographer (who was rather sarcastic about the 'scientific status of the tape measure') took all my measurements which actually came out at 35 weeks. Phew!! They can't really explain the discrepancy, but said that the scan is far more accurate so they are happy. Bubs had big layer of fat around its tummy too, which seemed to please the scanner (ie, hardly starving!). I seem to alternate between relief and being extremely irritated by midwifes at the moment! Anyway, determined not to fall into worry mode again, having been there before.
Back to Monday, think a mobile no. would be useful, but can't CAT as no e-mail at library, so...I would put it on here now, but can't for my life remember it . I will get to the food court early and watch out for pregnant women, and just give a nervous wave!
Hope everyone has a good weekend! (especially Rodeo!).

CADS hasn't been around ever since she got her belly bag - I bet she hasn't been able to prise herself away from it!

Well, lunch is possible with a 10 wk old baby - I got my dates wrong and thought he was 4 months, turns out he's only 3. Was odd as we met up with another friend who we were at school with who hasn't got children and it was really hard to not keep ending up talking about pregnancy and babies.

I can't believe how much everyone has to pack for their bags. I feel very fortunate..

I have a tub of ready to bake cookie dough in the fridge, so think it's going to be a night dedicated to freshly baked cookies - yummy.

Busyalexsmummy · 07/10/2005 17:06

SS - Congratulations on getting your pram! I hope mines coming soon!

Londoner-how annoying is that when you take the time to type out a long post?!!

ChaCha-sorry to hear about the sickness, I was doing fine(none for about 3 weeks)till 9am this morning!

hmm, all this talk of cookie dough is making me want to cook some biscuits, think i'll send dp off to the shops to get some eggs etc!

Hiya all

Had an ok day. Weird estate agent women came round and was here for 5 minutes and just kept screaming 'LLLUUURRVVVLLYY' at the top of her voice before opening the door, getting into her car and shouting she'd ring me on Monday as she drove up the lane. She was meant to come and say how we could market our house more for sale etc, keft me needing a lie down.

Two hours later I woke up, feeling really groggy, but needed to go to Tesco, spent an hour just walking round in a daze and came out with about 5 items, felt really out of it, tired, couldn't think etc. Came home and then had to drive out again to meet friend for a drink.

Felt better when in pub having a chat and had a good afternoon/evening, but strange day in total.

Diege and Twinkle I will text you rather than put my number on here, hope you don't mind, just think DH would kill me if I did that.

Also really looking forward to Monday, it is like a little adventure. Apparently we are now staying in three different hotels in three different places, Manchester, Liverpool and then Warrington, hope they have pools etc!!!!!

Hope everyone is alright. Glad to hear you are ok Beks, must have been a little scary, it looking like it was all happening all over again but even earlier!!!!!

Diege - Sorry about MW episode, I had something similar where my MW said she wasn't happy with fundal height but DR said it was fine!!!! Glad all was good in the end, and that you got to see your little one again!!!!

Right better do last jobs before DH makes an appearance, will post before we leave on Sunday.

BBYYYYEEEE

KristinaM · 07/10/2005 20:04

Enthusia - hope you are feeling better. Dont mean to sound like your mum, but are you sure you shoudl be driving when you are feeling so woozy. especially after what happened befroe?

Would love to be joining you all on Monday - hope it goes well. Dont you think its sweet the way the Dp/DHs are coming over all protective? What do they think is going to happen to you meeting up in a shopping centre? With thousands of people, security cameras and security guards all around? Ahhhhh....

Nova - are you having a quiet night in without DP? Hope you're feeling better

Twinkle - how do you manage to bend down to do the woodwork? We painted DS room last weekend but i coudl only do the middle of the walls. Dh wouldnt let me go up ladders as I'm so dizzy ( lietrally not metaphorically)

novadandypowder · 07/10/2005 23:30

kristina, it's been a very quiet night in with cookies and cats for company. Been drifting in and out of sleep on the sofa, and thinking about heading off to bed now.

Just managed to tempt the kitten back into the study for the night, can't leave her in the house as she keeps trying to eat the house plants, but getting her into the room can take a while as she still refuses to be picked up. Thankfully she copies the other cats so if I get them upstairs she tends to follow.

Need to try and mow the lawn tomorrow before the weather turns, will hopefully have a bit more energy after lazy day today.

ChaCha · 08/10/2005 11:05

Good morning ladies,

Hope everyone is well. Nothing much to say, am still being sick most of the day and night, getting bigger and trying v.hard to be patient. Had a nice evening with some friends which took my mind of the sickness but it returned with a vengeance at 4am
Kind of feels like that first trimester all over again! Baby doesn't seem to be kicking as much but rather just moving around if that makes sense. I don't think he likes me lying on my side, I keep thinking that I'm squashing him and wake up in a panic!

I hope the sickness ceases soon. Have managed to catch up on some light chores this morning and get on while I feel better. Have been craving potato fritters and milkshake, anyone else having those lovely cravings?
Have a lovely weekend ladies and do make me feel better by telling me that you too resemble a rag doll..a fat one at that!!
Love xxx

rodeo1 · 08/10/2005 11:39

Morning Chacha, glad you had a nice evening with friends, really akes a difference sometimes doesn't it? How crappy you're still being sick Are you still on your iron tablets? Do you think it could be them? I keep forgetting to take mine. I have a brain like a sieve at the moment!

Think me and dp are off for a last child free night out tonight (for a while anyway), so lookimng forward to that, off to brave the crowds at the supermarket and Mothercare this afternoon for one last shop. The children are off to the church at 2 for an afternoon of making bread and singing songs for harvest festival so will go then I think.

Feeling a bit calmer today, as long as I don't think too much. Actually have been wondering what 'she'll' look like and how big 'she'll' be which makes a nice change. Trying to concentrate on being positive

Hiya Rodeo - Am going to tell my GP about the iron tablets at appt next week. Like you I too forget to take them and as it had been two days since I last remembered am inclined to think the sickness and tablets are not related. Who knows?

There must be a lot of excitement in your house right now and it's great that you and DP are off for a night out. Hope you have a lovely time.

Pinkminx - Also hasn't posted for a while.

tex111 · 08/10/2005 16:52

What do you guys think of this - Eco-crib .

I'm contemplating it. We've been planning to buy a Moses basket but I saw this and I like the idea of it. I'm just not sure though.

sarahsausage · 08/10/2005 17:57

Tex, that crib is cute. I never thought of buying a crib instead of a moses basket, but i am now actually going to talk dp into buying one of those! Not as costly as a moses basket either. Thanks for that

hamster · 08/10/2005 18:42

Evening ladies,

Cor...busy, busy, busy this week. I am at my mothers house sitting for the week, whilst my parents are away. Apart from babysitting my 14 yr old brother and looking after a ridiculous number of pets...plus a one yr old-I am fine.

Heartburn is the worst I HAVE EVER HAD, to the point that I dread eating anything, not long though I'm hoping.

Feel for you Chacha, it must be horrible to be feeling like that at this late stage....hope you feel better soon.

Got mw on Tuesday, so I'll enlighten you all then.

Hope everyone's well....bumps 'n' all!
xx

tessasmum · 08/10/2005 19:34

Knackered now as have been helping out at NCT sale. Much more tiring than running after a toddler as at least then I can collapse on the sofa with CBeebies and put my feet up for a while
However it was nice to have a child-free day and I got a few bargains. Now have all the bedding for a cot (2 nice cotton blankets and a fleecy one), a Karrimor baby carrier in case we ever start walking again and a few neutral babygrows. Only thing I wanted but didn't get was a highchair (Tessa's was about 7th hand and disintegrated on us!), last time I remember there being about 4 there but nothing this time. Still no rush, I'll pick one up in the small ads probably.

Horrible that you are still feeling so sick ChaCha, that's really not fair. Know what you mean about moving rather than kicking though, this one has been squirming for ages.

Just a thought, I think cold wards and dressing gowns were mentioned a day or two ago by different people. The ward will DEFINATELY not be cold, hospitals seem to operate on a different heating system to the rest of the world, and maternity wards even more so. Tessa was born in February and luckily I was in a bed near a window. I had it open as much as possible, with much tutting from various nursing assistants, but I would have suffocated otherwise. On that note - do NOT take in your cosiest, fleeciest dressing gown, find the lightest summer one you can beg/borrow/steal and use that.

If I don't get on here again before Monday good luck Rodeo, hope it all goes the way you want it. Can't believe that in 2 days time one of us will be holding a real baby, its flown by.

KristinaM · 08/10/2005 19:54

Hi everyone, hope you are all Ok

tex - have you seen the eco cot in real life or just online? I've seen it in the shop and ....welll....its a bit cardboardy. Its much bigger than a moses basket, more the size of a crib. Personallly I would rather buy a crib which will last for about 6 months and you can recycyle it by using it for your next child or giving it to a friend. Buts that's just my opinion.....

Agree with Tessa about the heat in the hospital ward. The one i was in last time had no windows and it was stiflingly hot and very noisy. But then there were 6 mums and babies plus their parents & parents in law, partners and kids in all day from 10am - about 50 people in this tiny bed bay. Def take lightweight clothes. And old slippers, not nice new pink fluffy ones

KristinaM · 08/10/2005 20:30

Chacha - are you still trying to decide between ward and single room. you have to read this thread...

here

before you decide!!

BEKsmum · 09/10/2005 11:02

Morning all, not much going on here although have had some good news as my mum & dad have decided to come home early from Spain after this weeks little scare - hooray this means I'll get to put my feet up a bit more and it may also settle Ben down seeing them around! Roll on Thursday!!!

Really came on to wish Rodeo the very best of luck and everything for tomorrow. I hope they don't make you wait around to long and that you're holding your beautiful baby girl before lunch! Take care of yourself and get Mr Rodeo to let us know that all went well if he gets a chance.

Chacha sorry to hear you're still being so sick, it must be exhausting. Hope you get some rest this weekend.

Right off to do a big supermarket run, then to clear the garden of most of the summer toys as it looks like an abandoned junk yard out there at the moment.

Hope you all have a good weekend BEKs (35wks)

goldenoldie · 09/10/2005 11:50

Agree with others about heating in labour and post-natal wards. Always seems to be around 80 degrees - I kid you not. A fan would be perfect. I know you get one in your room at the Portland but doubt the NHS provides many plug in ones.

And for those (mad!) people who want to share a room for the company, or those that will have no choice, be careful about taking lots of nice new slippers/nighties/baby things/toiletries with you. Nicking is pretty common and there is no-where secure to leave your things when you go to the loo/shower anyway.

In addition, given all the lurgies/germs in hospital I like to take my oldest things and leave them in the hospital bin when I am discharged to reduce risk of cross contamination or taking hospital infections home..................

KristinaM · 09/10/2005 12:10

beksmum - good news about your parents coming home. Make sure you get lots of rest while they are watching Ben.

Rodeo - good luck for tomorrow - we will be waiting for news

Golden young thing - so glad its not just me who had a less than positive experince of hospital. i feel i am such a killjoy....

Who is having their baby next, after Rodeo? One of you elective section girls, surely?. Keeping fingers crossed its not me [hopeful emoticon]

How are all the toxic / crazy MIL? We are spared all the manipulations & emotional blackmail as neither even know I'm pregnant - MIL hasnt even seen Ds who is 17 months old ( she's been too busy ) and I've not seen my parents since about Easter. We send presents/cards/flowers on their birthdays but dont hear back from them .Oh well its their loss.....

ChaCha · 09/10/2005 12:53

Tex - I had a look at one of those eco-cribs not so long ago in Mothercare and I didn't like it TBH. At first I thought 'what a great idea' but on further inspection changed my mind. Personally i'd opt for the moses basket but you know what's best for your baby and might be great for you

Kristina - I spent quite some time reading through that thread. Some of the posts left me with my mouth hanging open in total shock horror and others in hysterics. In light of everything I've read as to date I have told DH that I want my own room. Will look into this further when on hospital tour. I've had one laparoscopy performed privately and the other on the NHS. As the private was performed first time round I think my expectations of NHS ward were a tad naive. Nope, that's it, have made up my mind now. Private room!!!!!!

Beks - That's great news about your folks coming over early. You must be thrilled.

Rodeo - All looking fwd to hearing your news

Nova - Hope your weekend has been okay without DH and that you're well.

See you all later x

karmamother · 09/10/2005 13:35

Hi all,

just a relaxing hour catching up on the posts. ChaCha - I agree with you about the thread of hospital inmates was truly shocking/hilarious. Suddenly, a 6 hr discharge seems necessary.

Well, yesterday I had a tour of one of the hospitals I can deliver in. As I've just moved to York I have a choice of 2. Remembered to ask if they'd provide stuff to top & tail baby with! Also, the pool isn't used very often so there's a good chance I might get to use it. HOwever, when I asked if I could use it if I'd been induced (even just an ARM) I was told emphatically, NO. Bugger. I don't necessarily want to delivery in it, just use it for pain relief. Got an appointment next week to see a consultant who looks after the mums with GD so I'm looking forward to that. This afternoon, I'm going to look at the other hospital just to compare. Must remember to wear light clothing as I nearly passed out yesterday at the other hospital!

Feel I should pack a bag now as you all seem to be be so organised. Gives you a reality check, doesn't it?

twinkle1 · 09/10/2005 14:49
