Found the smae thing (big at the back of the waist band) with some of the maternity jeans in Next too moomin. I got a pair in the end.

Main problem I have is that I'm 5'8 which isnt that tall but I've got a long torso (which I'm glad about now it'll give babies extra room) which means that tops are often short on me. Could cope with the odd belly flash when my stomach was flat but now it's far from ideal especially in this chilli weather. Thought I bump band might do the job- has anyone tried one- are they worth having?

moomin156 · 14/12/2010 18:18

I have one and have been using it for a few weeks......it stops the flash of wobbly tummy and means i have had my button undone on jeans with no one seeing

moomin156 · 14/12/2010 18:19

been a lovely extra warm layer too.......mine is a bit baggy at the top but i dont wear tops that are too tight so it doesnt show

knackered76 · 14/12/2010 18:47

Clarkiee 5'8 not that tall, you are a giant to me Grin I'm only jealous as I would love a couple of extra inches in height, unfortunately I appear to have them around the middle and can't see that ending anytime soon!

Congratulations on good scan news those who have had them :)

Also have bump bands and have found them quite good, had meant I haven't needed to go into maternity tops yet, just slowly ruining my old ones Grin

santamaxx · 14/12/2010 19:05

moomin if you like Boden for yourself, just you WAIT until you can start buying mini boden - it's just GORGEOUS!!!

moomin156 · 14/12/2010 19:07

I know santa......my neice has always been spoilt, shes now 10 and folds the corners of the catalogue for the outfits she likes LOL. Expensive taste my family!

santamaxx · 14/12/2010 21:03

lol fantastic Xmas Grin

cameli · 14/12/2010 22:13

Well my baby wouldn't co-operate for the gender scan. I tried drinking fizzy pop, going for a walk etc but still no joy but it does mean I get to go back next week for another scan. I will be nearly 18 weeks so will only have a couple of weeks to wait before I have my anomaly scan :)

GoodVibrations · 14/12/2010 22:19

I've been in mat clothes for quite a few weeks. I'm mainly using the ones from my last pg (mamas & papas, Next and a few larger size/ floaty tops). I've bought a knitted dress from H&M - it's a bit short but looks nice. I bought some maternity leggings from M&P - they were expensive for what you get but soooooo comfy (moo-hassive over the bump ones!!).

Can't wait to hear the news from Thursday scans - are those the last ones past the 12 week mark? V exciting

Bought a sledge today as they've forecast a huge amount of snow for Thursday/ Friday. DD is scared of the snow Hmm, so hopefully this means we can actually escape from the house this time.

Feeling very happy tonight Grin

moomin156 · 14/12/2010 22:27

Where do you live GV........just wondered if i need to be worried

bananarama05 · 14/12/2010 22:43

Another vote for Topshop maternity jeans here, haven't tried any myself by my friend was raving about them at the weekend. Saing that she's about 5 foot nothing and normally a size 6...but she did literally double her weight with 1st pg!! 6 stone to 12 stone in 9 short months :)

Dorothy Perkins had some fab long sleeved dresses when I went shopping at the weekend. Had lots of compliments on the one I got for night out on Saturday and even a compliment from DP when I got home which is most unusual so can't of been bad :) May have to venture back and get a couple more.

3 day migraine has finally gone...and brought with it a cold. I think I've forgotten what feeling normal is like! Anyone else suffering with headaches?

bananarama05 · 14/12/2010 22:44

moomin I thought it was meant to be pretty much blanket snow across the UK from Thursday onwards.

moomin156 · 14/12/2010 22:46

Bugger.......supposed to be driving up to Leeds at the weekend to see MIL. What a shame if we cant go Tehehehehe

cameli · 15/12/2010 07:21

moomin I'm in Leeds so happy to keep you updated about the weather-wouldn't want you missing out on seeing the MIL ;)

takethatlady · 15/12/2010 08:23

Oh no my SIL is a grad student at Leeds and she's got to get all the way down to the south-eastern corner of Kent this weekend for Christmas ...

I am basically bumpless!! Xmas Sad No need for maternity clothes. 12+2 and it's my first, though my belly is definitely much much rounder this week and if I wear bodycon dresses you can see it. A pair of high-waisted trousers were very tight yesterday. But I'm clutching at straws ...

Scans tomorrow ladies. I cannot WAIT!!! What is it with time? I am actually using my Cadbury's advent calendar to count down to the scan. Not sure that's what it was intended for!

Went for dinner last night with old colleagues/friends. A very annoying girl interrogated me quite loudly about whether the baby was planned and how quickly it had happened. So that was my first experience of inappropriate questioning! Obviously since then I've been formulating better responses than 'yes' and 'erm ... well it takes different amounts of time for everyone' (I was thinking 'no, it wasn't planned at all, and I shagged quite a few people other than DH that month so God only knows whose it is' might work. Telling people at work tomorrow at the Christmas party, so preparing myself for round 2. And will inevitably say 'yes' and 'erm ... well it takes different amounts of time for everyone' ... Xmas Grin Xmas Hmm

moomin156 · 15/12/2010 08:34

Morning everyone........1 more sleep for all you lovely ladies with scans tomorrow Grin

TTL i think you should try to use your prepared answers, id love to see the look on their faces with the maybe its not me husbands comment LOL, so funny.

I dont really need maternity clothes yet either, Im 15+2, but just being prepared as i have been told it happens quite quickly.....no bump to bump :) and im thinking its christmas, newyear, then january sales. I have put on weight and have lost my shape and have a lot more wobble in the tummy department, at least maternity clothes hide that.

Meeting a friend for coffee ( well maybe hot ribena) this morning, she had a baby in June, so this time next year our beans will all be the same age as the one i get to munch today. And as a colleague at work pointed out......next christmas our beans will be able to have some christmas dinner with us as they will be 6 months old. How scary is that Xmas Grin

neenewps · 15/12/2010 08:51

ttl and (i think it's) supersunny nearly there :o

I am definitely chunkier! I was chatting to the sonographer yesterday and she said, oh you aren't showing yet, it must be your first. I was devastated as I then realised the weight on my tummy (which wasn't there before I fell pregnant) was just fat!

My friend is 4 weeks ahead of me and she said she was the same and then one day last week she woke up and there was a bump. Just like that!

moomin that is a VERY scary thought!

jbells · 15/12/2010 09:00

morning all, im 17+2 now and still no showing bump i dont look pg yet just like ive been eating too many pies my waiteline is thicker and fatter but no defined bump i can still wear a couple of pears of my normal jeans, but some of the tighter ones i had dont do up anymore, with my first i didnt look pg till about 25 weeks and started wearing matt clothes at about 23 weeks i think i will need them a bit sooner this time round tho, ill prob be in only mat jeans from around 20 wks this time at a guess lol mat clothes are def more forgiving and comfortable tho :)

jbells · 15/12/2010 09:01

Hello e'one,

I have been a quiet reader of this thread and part 3 and 4 as well. Returned to it today after a long gap..its difficult to catch up on e'thing..But, I do recognise a few names and it feels nice to be back reading up..

Am almost 15 weeks now; So far, things have been largely fine, apart from the fatigue and nausea and hyper-anxiety (had a mc in July).

Apologies for this lengthy post, this matter has been bothering me for a while now, i thought this is a good forum to seek some answers.

Had my 12 week (external) scan a while ago, it was a sort of a combined dating and downs screening scan. The radiographer dated it as 11 w 6 d. She took the nuchal measurements and heartbeat and assured us e'thing was fine. They took the blood tests as well on the same day. Subsequently, I have got the letter informing that they didn not find any risk regarding Down's screening which obviously is good news (am 34).

However, the radiographer complained that my (1) bladder was too full. (2) Also, in the letter she has said that she couldn't get a good view due to "adiposity"..Well, am not morbidly obese, but am certainly overweight and hold much of it in the abdomen. So, that bit is certainly plausible.

But, couldn't she have done an internal scan?
This occurred to us later..Neither me nor my husband voiced it at that point.

The thing is that despite she reassuring us that e'thing was fine, to me, the scan didn't really show much (of course, am talking of it as a picture) as the baby was in a crouched sort of position..and the magic of the 12 week scan calming down anxieties didn't exactly work for me.

Also, she has asked for the same reasons of not being able to get a good view for another 16 week scan..(which the paranoid bit of me reads as: is there a cause for concern?)

Also, it made me to wonder how despite (1) and (2), she could do all the other measurements?

Maybe I am overanalysing..

But, I will be grateful to hear what you ladies think about it.

Hi can I join the Jue in June crowd. Had my dating scan yesterday and was 13+2, due on 19th June. Have been lurking until now as I have a terrible mc record. This will be my first successful scan! Fingers crossed for next 6 months.
