noonee - Yes the greens are passing me by too, really should make and effort to eat them more, i'm strugglignt o find anythign that tastes as good as i need it too.

trick or flum - we've decided against the nuchal scan, won't make any difference to us, we'd rather wait and see, than have something else to worry about during this pregnancy, need as little stress as possible.

Jen1209 · 01/11/2005 15:41

Hi, well I'm afraid the news isn't good and it looks like I may have to leave you lovely ladies to it.

The scan showed that the sac is much smaller than it should be (approx 5 weeks when I should be 8 tomorrow) and is sitting far too low down. I have had bloods / urine / swabs done but the doctors aren't holding out any hope. They have said there is a very small chance that things might turn around but probably not. I have another scan booked for 14th November just in case, but I know in my heart that I am not going to need it. I have started having cramps and the spotting is getting heavier.

I truly hope you all gone on to have the beautiful babies that you all so deserve. I am going to leave this thread now as I don't want to hang around being miserable. I also think I am going to give MN a rest for a while until things have sorted themselves out. Thank you so much for your support and kind words over the last couple of weeks.

justbetweenourselves · 01/11/2005 16:01

Jen, so desperately sorry to hear your news. Hope you and dp get some time over the next couple of weeks to be together, to love and reflect, and "be". Really hope to see your name on one of the ante natal threads soon. Best wishes for the next couple of weeks, and take care of yourself.

Laura032004 · 01/11/2005 16:29

Jen - really sorry to hear that news Don't know what else to say really.

We won't be having the nuchal fold scan. Is that the one for Downs Syndrome? My mum had a scan when pg with my sister, and was told she had Downs. She decided not to do anything anyway, but spent the rest of the pg worried sick. My sister was absolutely fine in the end. So as we probably wouldn't do anything anyway, I think it's best not to worry if that makes sense.

Not doing too well on the green veg either, but really trying. I'm still bf ds1, so I'm trying to eat really healthily to do my best by all of us! I've started having two main meals a day, and that seems to be doing the trick. It's hard with dh away, as I lose the inspiration to cook a 'proper' evening meal.

LilacBump · 01/11/2005 17:46

oh jen i am so sorry to hear your news i wish you lots of strength and love. do take care {{hug}}

Diddle · 01/11/2005 18:13

oh Jen i am so sorry, why is life so rubbish? I wish you all the best x x x

Bugs · 01/11/2005 19:49

Oh (((((((((((jen))))))))))))))) sweetie lifes just not fair is it

On a lighrer note i came home from school today to find midwife on my doorstep asking if she could do my booking appt today Anyway everything went fine did bloods etc ( 4yr dd helped!!) Only downside is i HAVE to have this one in hospital no chance what so ever of a home birth due to pre-emplamsia (spelling i know) and cancerous cells at start of year. Was kind of gutting was hoping to try for a homebirth but dh is happy as he didn't like the idea. Have got to call hospital next wed for dating scan appt. Sorry to waffle on how is everybody else doing?

JJane01 · 02/11/2005 09:28

Hello everyone.
I had started reading this thread and was going to join as was expecting a 20 June 2006 baby, but for some instinctive reason I held off, and unfortunately it was for good reason.
On 29 October I had emergency surgery to remove a "big" ectopic pregnancy and fallopian tube. I was extremely lucky that it hadn't ruptured and that it could be removed by laparoscopy. Unfortunately my other fallopian tube is damaged, so I have a 1 in 20 chance of ectopic recurrence, and also chance of difficulty in conceiving, although I will now qualify for IVF treatment from our local Primary Care Trust.
It has been a traumatic experience, but I am very grateful that I have a supportive network of family and friends, and feel unbelievably lucky to have a child already - our almost 4-year-old son has been so resilient, understanding and good.... he'll be getting some special birthday presents this Saturday (he's a firework).
Anyway, not wishing to be on here on a down note, I want to wish all you June birthers a happy, healthy and handsome pregnancy. It's a shame I couldn't join you all but there's always hope. Jill xxx

Diddle · 02/11/2005 09:55

Oh Jill,

That must have been a terribel experience for you, i hope you are recovering well. would also like to wish you best of luck with ttc in the future, i hope it works out for you.

Trickorflum · 02/11/2005 10:39

Thanks for wishing us well JillJane. That sounds quite a shocking experience you seem to be adjusting to it well. Good luck with IVF.

Now anyone else Nuchal Fold scanning. I really can't decide whether to get it done or not and it is really weighing quite heavily. Seems no point in doing unless you are pretty sure you would terminate if there was a problem. I think I am a bit too emotional for that. DH thinks it is black and white and we should get it done and terminate if problem for the sake of our existing family and their quality of life. ie don't like to think of dd having to care for a SNs person for rest of her life. ho hum.

LilacBump · 02/11/2005 10:42

jill, how awful for you! i hope you recover quickly.

i've just come back from the GP as i had pain in my kidney area and i have an infection. i'm on anti-biotics.
the sickness is now completely gone! and i am a lot less tired. i can't believe this would be it.

Dana · 02/11/2005 11:32

Oh Jen, I am so, so sorry And Jill, you too - what a horrible experience. I wish you both all the best!!

I haven't been on here for a while as I have been in bed (in between frequent visits to the loo) with a horrible stomach bug. I have had terrible stomach cramps and pains, which were quite worrying, but my gp has assured me that it is just a bug and won't affect the baby. Can't help being a bit paranoid though. I am feeling a bit better now and hoping to go back to work tomorrow.

Flum, we have chosen not to have the nuchal fold scan and blood test done. We want the baby regardless so don't want the extra worry during pregnancy.

Dana · 02/11/2005 11:34

I really need to learn to preview. That was obviously meant to be a . Stupid, stupid me

slinkstah · 02/11/2005 11:42

hello all,

lilacbump- glad your feeling better

trikorflum- i will not be having the nuchal fold scan as i know that i will never contemplate terminating this pg. i have terminated before on doctors advice for abnormalities, well a 50% chance of abnormaly as i was on medication that harmed the baby it happened a long time ago now, but i deeply regret my decision. the medical world have since found out that the chance of abnormality was only 2%.

so sorry to here about mc jen i really hope you recover well.
jill- so sorry to hear whats happened, good luck ttc in future

how is everyone else doing, im feeling fine although i think i had a craving last night- egg sandwiches with salad cream, i sent dp out at 10.30 to get some eggs and salad cream lol

6.5 weeks

Diddle · 02/11/2005 11:51

slink - you got me wanting an egg sarnie now, and we've got some and some salad cream yummy, know what i'm having thanks mate

flum - there is no way we could consider terminating this pregnancy for any reason, we have tried so hard to get this far, and will definityl nto be having the test. I think eveyr ;ife is precious regardless of special needs, all children have their difficulties and its just something we'll have to cope with if it happens.

LilacBump · 02/11/2005 11:55

dana, sad to hear you've been poorly too.

we need some positive news on this thread!

Diddle · 02/11/2005 12:10

yes we do!!!! haven't got any though. I think the fact that we're pregnant at all is pretty positive at the moment, we're all having our ups and downs, but we'll come through.

JJane01 · 02/11/2005 14:33

If it's any consolation, Dana, I had a terrible tummy bug when pregnant with my son in 2001, but everything turned out fine.
As for eating eggs, will it sound strange for me to say that I feel extremely offended every time I open the fridge door and see them staring at me?!
It's interesting looking at the June thread from a statistical perspective (sorry, I'm an Info Analyst) - there is that "standard split" between the overwhelming majority of you are experiencing the normalities of pregnancy, with just a few of us affected by something more serious. There's some consolation in knowing that this is very normal.
However, I smile because although sad, I have a lot to be happy about and a lot to look forward to (even when the weather's naff outside).
You're all cruising towards the blossoming stage of pregnancy... enjoy it... and remember to get plenty of sleep!!!!! Jill x

Bugs · 03/11/2005 10:07

Morning ladies .
How are we all feeling today? Well my morning sickness has truely kicked in today and it most annoyingly it was just as we were about to leave for school. On a plus note i managed to eat a full proper meal with greens last night and felt fine afterwards which made a nice change.
Has anybody started baby shopping yet? we bought a fetal heart monitor at the weekend and can't wait till we can hear the heartbeat.

Heres hoping everybodys feeling good today.
D

carly82 · 03/11/2005 10:19

hi bugs im currently on the july 2006 thread and was wondering where i could get a fetal heart monior as the ones i found were really expensive? would be grateful for any advice

LilacBump · 03/11/2005 11:42

hi bugs, i am feeling ok, just have a lot of pain with this kidney infection. i went to bed at 8pm last night. but thank goodness, the sickness is gone. DP makes me laugh, he's buying all this weird food like dates and gherkins! i thought i was supposed to have cravings, not him! i've started buying a few baby things. when can you hear the heartbeat with a fetal heart monitor then?

Bugs · 03/11/2005 12:05

Hi all
You can get the fetal heart monitor for £30 from either Boots ot Mothercare. A word of warning tho we went to 4 different boots shops only to be told at each shop there's no such thing (good product knowledge there mate! not) I ended up getting mine from Mothercare who knew what i meant and took me straight to it. You are suspossed to be able to pick up the heartbeat at approx 20 weeks but if you know what your listening for i'd say any where from 12 to 16 weeks. I'm now approx 8 weeks so am playing with it every night just to check lol.

Dana · 03/11/2005 12:45

Like the thought of having my own fetal heart monitor, but I probably wouldn't buy one.

I just phoned the pregnancy unit at my hospital to cancel the appointment I got in for the nuchal fold scan (which I don't want) but managed to get myself a dating scan next Thursday instead. Sooo excited, but also a little bit nervous. Just want everything to be ok.

Oooh, and another thing. Just found out yesterday that my best friend is pregnant and due a month later than me. Excellent timing

Lilac, glad to hear you have stopped feeling so sick. I hope the antibiotics will kick in soon for your infection as well.

carly82 · 03/11/2005 13:00

with my 2ds i had choleastasis so i had an ecg monitor to take home from thiry weeks and that was great but would love one from early on just for that extra reassurance thanks

slinkstah · 03/11/2005 16:20

i had one of those fetal heart monitors for £30 from motherecare, i bought it at 20 weeks and could not hear anything but gurgles, i used it until my pregnancy sadly ended at 23 weeks and even at 23 weeks no heartbeat with the thing. i would splash out on a real doppler that can detect the heartbeat from 12 weeks.
