angels, glad I'm not the only one, although not glad you worry about it too, IYSWIM!

I think it doesn't help that you hear/read such conflicting things about it, there are some people who breezily claim that it's all fine and the most natural thing in the world and you will know just what to do and your body just does it instinctively, etc. etc. and others who say it's the hardest thing in the world ever, and pushing can seem like the most insurmountable task, 'like pushing a house over with your bare hands' (in the book I read last night) and you can not possibly have any idea beforehand just how hard it's going to be. I'm assuming the reality is some kind of middle ground, but it's still scary.

Like you, I am hoping for lots of drugs to get me through it...

I too am tired all the time at the moment, but I think some of it is 'mental lethargy' as well as bona fide physical tiredness. Hopefully I'll be better when I finish work for Christmas. I have been going to bed at 10pm instead of 11pm for most of pregnancy, but am currently habitually ready to go at about 9pm these days, but then not sleeping all that well when I get there, very frustrating!

Eeek just had a text off a friend's DP, they were expecting their baby to arrive on January 16th, and she had it last night!

Both doing fine, baby just under 6lbs so little, but perfectly well.

That's early though, yikes!

snowangels1 · 22/12/2010 12:31

wow, and that'll soon be us [jellylegged nervous/excited emoticon]

PolkaDotRudolf · 22/12/2010 13:13

Re: Birth - I was very scared 1st time around and all I can say is, it wasn't as bad as I imagined and although I was in labour for 24 hours (induced) it seemed to go quite quickly.
I am quite matter-of-fact about it now - ie. the baby has to come out somehow so there's nothing you can do about it, not really any "training" you can do so just try and relax until the time comes. You WILL be able to do it. You WILL find the strength!

Just had Xmas shop delivered from Sainsbury's - was wondering if I might have to go and collect it as they were so late but just as I was about to give up I saw the little orange van out the window :)
One trip to M&S to pick up the food I've ordered and I'm done :) :) :) Yay!

Deliaskis · 22/12/2010 13:58

PolkaDot I love the 'I'm done ' part of your email, it totally epitomises what I think I will be feeling when I get through my front door at about 6ish tonight!

Hey I have posted a picture of my bump at 32 weeks if anyone else wants to compare! Grin

snowangels1 · 22/12/2010 14:35

Got my first raised eye brows from someone asking how much longer I had till due date today in a wow-you're-massive-can-you-possibly-have-that-long-to-go look Hmm . I understand how annoying/slightly worrying it is to receive it now. Mw measured me yesterday and told me I was measuring big (33cm - is that big for 31 weeks??). She also wrote ?ceph (can't read writing well) for position of baby - anyone know what that means?

Deliaskis · 22/12/2010 15:34

angels cephalic is head down.

And re measurements, I think the number of cm is meant to roughly correspond with number of weeks i.e. 31 weeks should be roughly 31cm, but I don't think it's an error-free measurement more of a guide.

Somebody said to me the other day that it looked like baby was well cooked already, and was surprised I wasn't due till mid-Feb. It depends on what I'm wearing though, I have one pair of mat trousers that just push baby up and out and are like a wonderbra for my bump (LOL), so people always think I'm further along when I wear those.

NEARLY holiday time now for you delia Xmas Grin

Deliaskis · 22/12/2010 15:47

Can you just imagine how productive I've been today...

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 22/12/2010 16:36

Hi all, just had a catch up and cant remember what everyone said. Thanks for all your kind thoughts, glad wiggles has some time off at last.Happy birthday angels for yesterday. My son is trying to get home today so i am waiting to hear.It is slightly easier to get about here in Cheltenham,i have actually managed to get out today and feel loads better for it.Went to take dd for her appointment then had mcds and watched the new narnier film, dont ask if it was good cos i slept thru it behaind my 3d glasses.Ate a whole bag of wine gums and now have terrible heart burn Xmas Blush
Had my 34 wk app yesterday.saw consultant who is really nice and down to earth.I am measuring 38cm which is ridiculous and he said its all baby and reckoned she will be about 9.5 lbs!!Not convinced myself.cos she has been average on all the scans even the recent 4d one and they also said that with dd1 and she was 6lb 11oz.Poor Ivy has now become Big Bertha in our house and i have popped a couple of bigger babygros in just in case, there is nothing more embarrassing for a girl not to be able to get into her clothes.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 22/12/2010 16:40

Oh yeah and sadly the pil didnt manage to come due to adverse weather conditions Xmas Grin
All i need now is snow again on around the 31st Jan and ill be truly happy. Dr offered me an earlier date for section but it was a Thurs or Fri and if i had to put up with them 2 days after birth then i really would lose my mind.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 22/12/2010 16:42

And another thing. Has anyone noticed just how bloody rude the general public become at xmas.I was trying to get around shops today and nobody lets you thru despite a massive bump which in other circumstnaces they'd probably like to touch or comment on.
I think thats it haha.

PlumPuddingPopsy · 22/12/2010 16:47

Hi ladies with babies
so exciting nearly time to put our feet up and be looked after by our families (snigger emoticon)

Is DS last day at nursery today - feels really weird as was such a big deal putting her in there now I'll be at home again...time just flies! Am hoping my family will do all the sit down stand up stuff that I've been struggling with the past few months - though if I'm around she always wants mummy to do it grrrrrrr (poor DH doesn't get a look in which you can imagine is very upsetting for him with the constant potty trips Xmas Wink)

polka thanks for the pram info - I did see Janes online but have never seen one "in the flesh" so to speak - am just feeling bah humbug about spending any more money...

happy belated birthday snowangels - what a lovely festive time to have a bday - is my sisters today and always marks the start of xmas for us Xmas Grin

delia my flu jab was cancelled today - any luck with yours? I was told at my 25 wk appt that they weren't recommending it (by shit midwife with hairy chin don't know why I listened to her). Anyway they booked me in immed when I called but apparently the nurse is snowed in so I'm going back on 31st - am a teeny bit relived as have only just stopped feeling totally sh*te with fluey symptoms that I didn't know if were pg related or not so am glad to have xmas feeling at least able to get out of bed in the morning without a shot of adrenalin

Good to know am not the only beached whale lying in bed at 3am wondering how I'll manage on this little sleep for the next 8 weeks (and more when LO comes YIKES). Is sods law that I just seem to get cosy and drop off as DS starts her morning "I NEED A WEE MUMMY" foghorn alarm clock...

polka am off to see if can see your pic as we are dd twins Xmas Grin I feel MAHOOOOSIVE this time round and keep getting the OMG when people find out not due til feb - who was it who mentionned the due in jan thread - got me excited/shitting myself as I keep presuming I'll be massively late like last time...

Righto off to collect my lovely girl and get into xmas spirit (by letting her eat the rest of the chocs off the tree)

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE Xmas Grin

Deliaskis · 22/12/2010 16:47

ledkr I have experienced the whole gamut of treatment from various people, to lovely thoughtful people offering to hold my place in a queue if I wanted to sit down, people making plenty of room for me to get past etc. to others looking at my belly like it is just annoying and in their way and how dare I say 'excuse me' to ask if I can get my fat belly past them having their stupid conversation right in front of something vital in Sainsburys.

Ooops that turned into a bit of a rant! No idea where that came from, I think I have just had one or two experiences over the weekend where I have just thought people could have been...yer know...nicer about things!

D

Deliaskis · 22/12/2010 16:51

PPP no luck with flu jab yet, but have now been told to call tomorrow at 8 and they will see if they can get me an emergency appointment. Weird though as I would feel weird taking an apt off someone who is actually ill right now, in order to have something that might help me not to be ill, but I guess that's for them to prioritise.

To echo your sentiment...MERRY CHRISTMAS ONE AND ALL. I'm off work after today, and don't know how much mning I will do from home, so I hope everybody has a lovely Christmas and stays happy and healthy. If I don't get on here before, see you in the new year, when it will be mere weeks until our babies will be due!

Dx

PlumPuddingPopsy · 22/12/2010 16:51

delia I agree - is amazing how few people get out of way of the bump and feels a bit icky to squeeze past them!

polka No way am posting pics of my bump now - am telling myself you are so neat cos you have youth on your side Xmas Envy

PlumPuddingPopsy · 22/12/2010 16:53

delia don't worry about taking anyone elses appt - this is the one time in life to let everyone prioritise you - doesn't happen often does it? (selfish cow emoticon)

You can let me know how you get on before I go for mine - am weirdly nervous about it and am never bothered by stuff like that normally - suppose we now have more than us to think about...

Deliaskis · 22/12/2010 17:04

PPP I am actually just starting to come round to the way of thinking that yes, if there is any time when I need a bit of extra consideration/support/priority/etc. then it's now, there are no prizes for being a martyr the whole way through are there!

Will post if I manage to get a jab tomorrow.

D

NeedToSleepZZZ · 22/12/2010 17:11

Wow PDR, you look amazing...Envy Envy Wink! I might put a pic up but only if I have a mad brave minute....

angels I was measuring big too and I think I was 33 at 31 weeks, can't remember now but I posted about it as was really worried (coupled with mw saying they might have my EDD wrong...). Just to say that last measurement everything was fine so please don't worry! Smile

I know what you mean about people not caring about you in shops and pushing you, just went into town and it was horrible, really horrible, nearly cried as got a bit scared and hormonal clutching my bump!

Just off out to see my cousin for an hour as it's his bday today, he's so autistic and makes brilliant if somewhat inappropriate comments about my big fat tummy! Will be back here later {grin]

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 22/12/2010 17:16

Forgot to say i manged to get the jab yesterday, feel ok but my arm really hurts which has reduced my sleeping positions to one!!
Please dont worry about births,it all just happens and you get swept away on the excitment of it all.I find it easier to "go with the flow" the baby is coming out whether you like it or not and its so much better to be in controll. This is coming from the woman who actually put on her coat to "go home" halfway thru the birth of ds1.
Breaking news. The army have laid on coaches to get them to Bristol then he should get a coach home. He is very excited. My 3 ds like the pigs in blankets and i never do enough so i am doing 50 this yr,what do you think?

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 22/12/2010 17:18

needto sleep i dodnt get emotional,i get vile and shouty like a fishwife. DD and Dh get very embarrassed "ILL JUST STAND HERE ALL SODDING DAY SHALL I" was my chant today.

wigglesrock · 22/12/2010 18:45

Ledkr great news about ds, hope you see him soon.

Well I spent my first day off doing some Christmas shopping and braved the ice and fog to do my "big" Tesco shop!! I managed to fill an entire a trolley full of nonsense, even though I'm not doing any cooking this Christmas, to be fair I never cook at Christmas but at least I have an excuse this year Xmas Grin

DD1 finishes school tomorrow and has spent the last 30 mins picking what she wants to wear, she doesn't have to wear her uniform!! Oh am not looking forward to the teenage years, she's only 5.5 (the .5 is very important to her)

PolkaDotRudolf · 22/12/2010 19:02

angels I was measuring big too but on Monday (31+3) I was measuring 32 so I think it balances out in the end. Also, even scans cannot predict an accurate rate so I doubt some woman with a tapemeasure can Wink My friend was put through hell having to be monitored on a daily basis and have weekly scans for a "small" baby which was born over 8lbs at term Hmm.

PolkaDotRudolf · 22/12/2010 19:03

oops accurate weight not rate Confused
