ledkr booking a holiday sounds like you'll have something nice to look forward to this summer, and I always find choosing the holiday and where to stay etc half the fun anyway. Hope you and DH are doing OK and glad you're feeling better.

Speaking of having to get to hospital ladies, what happens if we miss our mw apts due to snow? I've had to have my high bp check put back to tues because of snow but I'm not sure I'll make it then as roads here are so bad. I can't not see a mw for too long as they are worried about my bp - do they send someone out to the house to check you or what??

prof - did you get out anywhere today??

needto I feel the cabin fever pain - driving me mad!

xkatyx · 19/12/2010 17:12

Hi ladies, i am 33 weeks pregnant with 3rd baby Smile

I was just woundering as we are all at roughly same stage is anyone else concerned about the swine flu jab?

Im really freaking out

PolkaDotRudolf · 19/12/2010 17:25

xkatyx there are several ladies on here who have had it in the last week... I personally am not having it and my GP advised against it but I did have the Swine Flu last December and as it's the same strain around this year it's unlikely I would get it again.... I guess everyone has to make their own decision based on their individual circumstances.

ledkr happy holiday hunting :) I love organising holidays! I find it almost as exciting as the actual holiday Hmm Must get out more. We are booked up until end 2011 so now planning ahead for 2012 Shock What a loser I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

angels really not sure what happens re midwife appointments in the snow. I am guessing if you can't get out they can't get to you either? I would also presume that they are even more short staffed than usual so may have to prioritise women in labour? How high is your BP? Have they offered you meds to control it? What a worry.

EauRudolph · 19/12/2010 17:25

HI xkatyx, I had my flu jab the other day (am 31 weeks). There isn't a lot of info available because it's so new but there haven't been any stories about problems from last year... I think there's a thread in the pregnancy forum about it.

knittamerrykid · 19/12/2010 18:04

I also had it last week (flu jab). It has some swine flu in it as well, so I think it's important to get it, and it's not a live vaccine so should do no harm.

Question, I'm looking for a natal hypnotherapy cd second hand, is the home birth one very different from the hospital/birth centre one?

snowangels1 · 19/12/2010 18:28

knitter I've got the hospital one but haven't listened to that CD yet (have another week until I'm due that excitement). I would imagine there are subtle differences and it depends how much you're going to use it/how important it is for you. If you want me to try and make a copy for you of hospital one from mine [worried emoticon that everyone will want one now so will have to make it a one time only to knitta offer] then message me.

polkadot yes that's what I was thinking. My bp is on the cusp of being serious concern (apparently) but is just below the threshold of further action. Thing is, roads here are bad enough for a pathetic pg lady to not want to take a trip out for fear of accidents/getting stuck, but not so bad that other people arn't risking it giving it a go Hmm.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 19/12/2010 19:08

katy and all who asked,i was totally agains t the flu jab although havent been offerred it,mostly as i tend not to get colds etc. However last week i was struck down by what i consider to be a coldand not flu as had no fever,i can honestly say i have never felt so ill.In bed for 3 days for 1st time in my life.I have ended up with a horrible chest infection and thus aching ribs etc,i was already breathless too.I would certainly have had it if i had hindsight.Just my experience for what its worth. It would seem that it is true for me that being pg definatley lowered my resistance.
Just aquick question, and i have not gone bomkers.I have been occasionally hearing a "click" from my bump.I had read something on mn about it so had alook and low and behold others have had it.Anyone else had this.maybe its the baby tutting at her lazy arsed daddy Xmas Grin

xkatyx · 19/12/2010 19:14

tahnk you everyone, such a hard choice to make.

I have that clicking to .. i got told it was because of my spd??? not really sure, but this s my 3rd baby and had with all.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 19/12/2010 19:18

I have spd but the click is nothing to do with me,it comes from the top of my bump and sounds like someones knuckles cracking. Can imagine baby in there cracking her knuckles to give lazy dh a good sock in the jaw when she is free,us girls need to stick together.

Oneof4 · 19/12/2010 19:20

Re: the flu jab, I got a letter in Sept from my GP the day after I came down with flu....which saw me consigned to bed for EIGHT days. Honestly - it completely floored me. I actually felt like I couldnt bear it any longer: migraine, shaking, vomiting, the works. And there's nothing they can give you because your pg. So I guess I'm saying that I really wish the letter had come a week earlier and I'd had the jab, because it was B.A.D.

Ho hum. :)

PolkaDotRudolf · 19/12/2010 19:50

angels in that case the midwives have probably made it in so might do a home visit? I imagine they'd prefer that than you trying to venture out and raising your bp even more!!!! Wink Or maybe the district nurse could pop in and do your bp check... Worth asking anyway...

God I don't know what it is about DHs but mine is really annoying me today. He didn't get up until 11am and then has been reading the paper / watching (rubbish man) TV pretty much ever since apart from a reprieve when my Uncle came round for about an hour this afternoon. He watched me struggle to get down on the floor to play with DS, didn't entertain him (other than putting Disney on) while I was trying to cook roast and now has not helped me drag him kicking and screaming to the bath :( My DMum (who lives with us in annexe) has taken pity on me and is bathing DS (he refused to get in for me but is now merrily splashing Nanny who is singing Jingle Bells!) and I just asked DH if he was going to go up in a minute and get him out / put pjs etc and he said "Mum's doing it now" Angry WTF?! What a lazy sod.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 19/12/2010 19:52

Hello xkatyx, I'm having the flu jab tomorrow afternoon, assuming I can get to the docs in the snow and ice. It's really a personal decision, my surgery told me they were recommending it but I had every right to refuse.

angels How is the weather up with you? Have you managed to get out today? I went into town briefly before the next bout of snow but I saw on the news that you've had it badly again. I do hope your bp is okay, have you been able to report things to your mw over the phone? Maybe she can get to you if necessary? Stay sane Wink

ledkr Hope you and your D(?)H are okay now, OH and I have had a few run ins lately, all his fault of course! I remember reading about the clicking noise on here as well, I haven't had it but I remember others saying it was another one of those pg things (yet ANOTHER one that no one tells you about!).

wigglesrock · 19/12/2010 20:30

katy I had combined flu jab last week, hummed and haaaaaad for ages and in the end just went for it. So glad I did, my sister, just spent Fri night in A&E - couldn't bring her temp down, spent night on a paracetamol drip, has flu and on painkillers and antibiotics, she is fit, 34 and no kids etc and she is absolutely floored by it, she can barely move, she's had to come back to my mums for a few days to rest (my mum of course is loving it!!!, she is getting a chance to baby her baby Xmas Grin)

Ledkr Xmas Envy re Ibiza, we were there in May this year and last and fingers crossed am hoping to head over in May/June this year.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 19/12/2010 20:32

one of 4 thats a good point about not being able to have any "cures" if do get ill.I was begging for sudafed as i couldnt breathe and was halucenating night nurse bottles, almost cried when they said i could have 2 codiene!
Need to sleep Thanks,we are just not talking which has never happened before.I have been cooped up in the hosue for nearly 3 wks now with either dd or me ill and normally love all the xmas build up and do like to have the house nice and clean soi am sure i am extra sensitive.
He has been so bloody spineless about speaking to pil re post baby visits that i am still none the wiser to their intentions and i have 6 wks left.

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 19/12/2010 20:37

wiggleswhere abouts? I am in love with the place, before i met dh it was just me and dd and i was on the verge of moving there permenantly(still bloody might if thing carry on)I am renting a flat on the beach at playa de bossa it is fab,can wash and sterilise etc and doors open onto the beach so i can sunbathe whilst baby sleeps.Bliss.

PolkaDotRudolf · 19/12/2010 20:42

Question who has started Mat Leave now (or AL before official ML starts) and who is still soldiering on?

wigglesrock · 19/12/2010 20:54

Ledkr We go to Santa Eulalia, we stumbled onto it by accident when I was pregnant with dd2 and wanted a quiet week away, have been there for holidays ever since. The girls love it, weather brillant for the kids and people so nice. Not to mention the food, the beach, the walks, now I have to stop before I hop on a plane Xmas Grin

PolkaDotRudolf I finish work on Christmas Eve, am on annual leave until mid Jan, then start maternity leave until hopefully early November Xmas Grin

ledkrsbellyislikesantas · 19/12/2010 20:58

wiggles love it there.
polka i start a/l at end of dec and mat leave the day the baby is due.Not soldiering on tho cos signed off so am a big fat fraud really. In yrs to come ill be able to spout "i worked until the day i had you" haha

PolkaDotRudolf · 19/12/2010 21:12

Ooo only a few more days then Wiggles :)

angels I just remembered I've got midwife appointment tomorrow at 2pm! We've only had about 8 inches of snow but it's total chaos and our drive / cul-de-sac is like an ice rink and like you I probably wouldn't venture out myself but I've seen the neighbours going out and about.
DH says he will probably (??!) take me as he is on an early shift tomorrow anyway and that's if he even has to go in.

PolkaDotRudolf · 19/12/2010 21:16

haha ledkr I start AL tomorrow and actual ML in January sometime but like you am signed off so the only difference is I will now start getting paid again :)

I'm not due back until 1st Feb 2012 Shock seems so far away but I'm sure it will fly by! I remember with DS I didn't really plan what would happen after ML ended but before I knew it, I was due back :( I am keeping up the pretence that I am going back to work after this one but actually DH and I have discussed that it might be better for our family as a whole if I become SAHM. Not confirmed yet by any means but it's on the cards.

Grannyapple · 19/12/2010 22:06

Hi polka I go on a/l mid jan then start mat leave 31st jan. I too am due to go back end jan/early feb 2012 but have suggested will take 9 months max. Work don't yet know that I am going to ask to go back part time.....

Off during Xmas & new year too.... Hoping the 2 weeks after new year fly by...have to get furniture etc sorted Grin

at least I have most of hos bag stuff purchased if
nothing else!

Hope the snow stays away-sis is coming down for Xmas so hope she can make it!!

PinkElephant73 · 19/12/2010 22:14

PolkaDotRudolf I finished work on Friday, my colleagues threw me a surprise baby shower which was lovely. Felt quite sad to be leaving, had to remind myself that I don't get to have a baby shower every day!

doesnt feel like mat leave yet though cos of Xmas!

How is everyone managing with the snow? I havent been out today, bit worried about having a fall or a bump in the car. DH took the kids sledging though and they had a whale of a time.

janedoe25 · 20/12/2010 07:17

Morning all, i have been struck down with the dreaded lurgy. Have a horrible chesty cough and sore throat along with a raging temperature Sad.

I dont start maternity leave ubtil the 7th feb and im only off for 10 weeks - the joys of being self employed! However i finish up work on wednesday until the 5th jan, iam so looking forward to it, hopefully we can get the nursery decorated abd set up then.

Hope u are all managing in the snow, im glas we only have about 2inches this time (we had 2foot a fortnight ago!)

janedoe25 · 20/12/2010 07:18

ooft sorry for all the typos!

snowangels1 · 20/12/2010 07:36

polka my DH has said the same re: my mw apt - if he's not working (or moving boxes to our new house) he'll drive me to mw, but even me not driving, I'm sure the worry of ice/DHs (lack of) driving skill in our tiny car will sky rocket the old bp!

I've never ever heard of the clicking thing in bump - there are so many oddities that no one ever mentions Shock

I've decided to have the flu jab (still haven't been offered it but will be proactive now about getting it) but hope that leaving it until after christmas isn't a bad move [prays I don't get flu in the mean time emoticon]. I'm barely going out much with snow etc so am hoping that minimises my risks. I've had flu before and you are sooooo ill even when you can take all the strong drugs, and it leaves you weak and wobbly (well, it did me) for weeks after. I've read terrible horror stories about pg women who have had flu on mn and it has really Shock Confused me. needto hope you make it safely (if you try) to GP for yours today.

janedoe hope you feel better for christmas.

Anyones christmas plans getting scarpered by the snow? Luckily we're only going to parents who are down the road. Must be terrible for all those folks with flights etc booked. Might have my first snowy birthday possibly since the year I was born tomorrow though.
