cheryl hope you're alright. If you are worried, give the midwives a call and get checked out. I think when the baby drops the bump can change shape quite a bit. I'm not sure about it getting smaller, but maybe it would seem smaller?

My bump hasn't dropped this time, so not much help I'm afraid, but I think I remember it changing shape a lot when DD engaged. I defintely had a lot more stomach capacity and less heartburn.

Just back from hospital and baby is not breech :o :o So relieved. I know they needed to check, but it is a shame I had to have all the worry. TBH I think the midwife was being over-cautious as the one who checked me today had a cursory feel, pulled a Confused face and said, 'er, well it's definitely head down' before running the scanner over briefly. A consultant also had to pop in and check as procedure, but there was no mistaking the head. Also, it is not OP, but back lying to my right (I thought it had done a wee bit of shifting side to side last couple of days).

Feeling so pleased and relieved and like I can get myself back into the right calm headpace for HB. Let's hope this is the last hiccup along the way now.

frankenfanny · 26/11/2010 11:59

OMG
birth kit from hospital just arrived. All the scary looking boxes of medical stuff in case of emergencies. Eeek, all too real. < buries head in sand >

Miffster · 26/11/2010 12:03

Hello everyone

hope you are all right cheryl, I'd def ring just to put mind at rest,
C&G hope all your plans work out & scan goes well on Tuesday
notso yikes at you being stuck! def. relax!
lavita glad all is well with your post birth bits!
crazy congrats on making it to the 38 week appointment!
93pjb good luck with the love, hope the weather doesn't make things more hassley in that department
WWSB enjoy mat leave!
GGG congrats on sucessful EGV!

You and DF are referring to another board - not urban or Friday thing by any chance? Only the names of posters you mention sound a bit familiar
Slightly glad your baba is in the right position
WLL hooray baby is not breech!
DF glad you are enjoying being a housewife!

A question -

is anyone having times of feeling emotionally brilliant? absolutely radiant with happiness and joie de vivre?
(as well as hours of feeling weepy and emotional)
or is that just me? I feel so happy and blessed and excited. Sometimes for a whole day at a time. Then I get a bit weepy. Then I go back to feeling brill again. Then I get really moody. Then I feel all emotional and crying but in a good way, such as when I look at a tiny sock.Blush This is very very unlike me. Normally I am hardcore.

Baby very very active yesterday (to the point of being painful) when I did a Red Cross first aid course all day. Was very tired by end of day after crawling on floor resuscitating and bandaging baby and adult dolls for hours. Cried when I got home and said to DH I needed to be looked after and relax instead of rushing about being superwoman all the time. So he is going to be nice to me all weekend and we are going to put up Christmas decorations and be soppy and romantic as snow falls outside and bext week I am going to DO NOTHING just watch girlie films and eat cake and do yoga with my upstairs pregnant neighbour who is almost 37 weeks.

Well, that is the plan.Grin

ooo franken whats in the box? I just got given a list of things I needed to get, and I got myself some pethidine (which is in the cupboard) the MW brings all with her at the time...

cheryl Im sory its all gone weird, have you called the MW?

Im looking out the window at the grey snowy sky and thinking I really didnt plan this very well!!

Just made ginger biscuits with DD :)

WLL that's really good about baby position, there seems to be a few of us that are having HB!!

Is the stats thread up to date if any one know?

frankenfanny · 26/11/2010 12:38

OWO, round here midwives are not allowed to carry stuff with them as they would be a known target Sad. I would have to get my own pethidine too. Also they seal the boxes so noone can steal drugs tamper with them. Going by last time, they will contain gas and air, oxygen, antiseptics, medical instruments, the sort of stuff they have in ambulances, I expect. It should be very reassuring but just freaks me out- I'm just not logical!

Miffster- I feel like that a lot, but then the kids come home from school and I don't sit down till 9pm, and end up exhausted and in a bitch-from-hell mood. Then lovely DH cautiously lowers me onto the sofa and rubs my feet while I glare at him. That passes for romance round here. :) He is quite used to the emotional rollercoaster that a baby brings and says "Oh well, you'll be back to normal in about a year..." :)

OnlyWantsOne · 26/11/2010 12:50

mmm... im exhausted. I ache all over and want to go to bed. Maybe I will shuffle on sofa next to DD and hope she doesnt realise and tell me to go away (wouldnt want to disturb the dora the explorer watching now would i)

Poor DD, this week has sort of been one long TV watching fest. Apart from school twice and seeing grand ma and playing at her friends. I should feel guilty but havent got the energy. I need a nap.

CherylAnnTweedy · 26/11/2010 12:53

WLL glad baby is right way round.

FF how exciting, we, like OWO just have to get a few bits together ourselves and mw brings everything else. If you need extra G&A here they send a taxi for it!

Miffster, enjoy your relaxing week next week, sounds good. Smile

Thanks for your thoughts & messages, about 1/2 hour after I posted there was a little ripple at the front of my belly, I prodded it and it was hard! Had a good feel and baby feels in the same position as it has beeen, although lower. very odd! Bum is only just above my belly button. I've felt a few movements since which is very reassuring. It's definitely dropped as it's even more uncomfortable 'down below'. I can feel it against my pelvis every time I walk and can also feel a lot of pressure at the back there too.

Wholelottalove · 26/11/2010 14:16

Franken that's exciting :) I'm the same as OWO and Cheryl and have just been given list of things to get but no box. I assume they bring it with them on the day. I do have the birth pool in a box in my wadrobe and now we know baby is right way up (or down) I think we'll get it out tonight and check it over.

OWO I've just been looking at your AIBU thread re post-birth and compiling a list of even more things to buy like prune juice and lactulose. Eek.

miffster I've definitely had some very hormonal moments and before the breech saga this week was feeling very up and positive. Feeling happier again today too obviously :)

MrsSnaplegs · 26/11/2010 14:41

Afternoon all - glad some of you have had good news about babies positions and are getting your home births Grin

cherylAT You sound similar to me - definate downward shift (although not yet re-engaged here after all the excitement the other week!)

Saw midwife today, I think I have met the whole team now - it's fab, whoever is on duty when I go into labour will know me Grin
MW has DD in the year above my DD at same school and asked if we were going to the carol concert - said we were going to try but did point out it was my due date - she said she would pack her community/ home birth kit in the car so I didn't need to worry Grin I did point out that giving birth in the church didn't mean it was an immaculate conception Wink
She also said after last delivery she would have classed my last labour as 1 hr 40 mins Shock even though my waters went 24 hours before - she said this time it may be quicker so as soon as waters go I have to get on the way to hospital (20 min drivewhen traffic is good) We did point out if it seemed to be happening that quickly we would dial 999 and crack on with it at home as DH and I have both had experience delivering babies - DH pointed out 1st baby he delivered was in military ambulance in Bosnia!!

OnlyWantsOne · 26/11/2010 15:00

WLL one thingon that list that I didnt get / ask for / think about when I had DD was pain killers for after the birth, because I was completley unaware of after pains etc, they felt like mild contractions for a couple of days - will def be talking to MW about that!!!!

Just had an hours sleep still feel utterly rubbish.

CheeseandGherkins · 26/11/2010 15:29

Just trying out my new phone on here, works pretty well but typing is much slower so I will catch up later hopefully :o

SlightlyTired · 26/11/2010 16:38

CAT, it sounds like you might be getting close!

Have just forced myself to complete a number of baby-related and Christmas jobs. Made second Christmas cake (it suddenly dawned on me that I will need one to take to inlaws' for Christmas itself, as well as one before since my parents will be here for a few weeks. Gave baby car seat a good sponge clean as it had previously been used by my sister who is a grub. Made pastry for mince pies which can go in freezer. Made up moses basket (SO CUTE - starting to feel real now...!).

Need to lie down now.

Miffster · 26/11/2010 17:46

OWO are you ok, after your neighbour's kids being ill and stuff?
Just read the thread and :(

OP posts:
OnlyWantsOne · 26/11/2010 19:07

OH i CANT FIND THE oo caps button obviously
what I mean is I cant find the thread about her baby, yes im fine, he's sadly not though and very poorly

notso · 26/11/2010 19:26

Hi all, just saying good evening. Am Envy of all you lot having homebirths, wish I could.
Been for more monitoring and bloods again today, my bile acids have risen from two to four so although they are still in normal range they are continuing monitoring as they have been consistantly two for weeks. Waiting for scan next week.

We have had snow here, just a bit but it looks nice outside.
Really need to crack on with our bedroom but DC are taking up the whole weekend with parties, rugby, and dancing, only have sat morning free but DH is working so won't get much done on my own.
Thanks for replies about HIP grant, I guess I should chase it up then, maybe thats why I seem to be having poor health in this pregnancyGrin
Thanks also for Seraphine tip, I think a wrap dress might be good.

Have a good weekend all Smile

Miffster · 26/11/2010 19:49

Oh dear OWO poor neighbour's baby. :(

Have been to Primark today and bought me and DH naff but warm pyjamas for a fiver each, the plan is to wear them to repel visitors after the birth.

Actually, might start wearing them now, it's flipping freezing, DH slept in a dressing gown last night. Am worried about a) the heating bill and drying effect of radiators on all the time b) the poor baby getting all cold in his hammock/bednest or me putting too many layers/blankets on him.

Also went to the new pound shop for a nosey and bought lots of random things for a pound including giant Toblerone and Lucozade for during/after the birth.

The birth and being a mother feel a bit theoretical, despite being imminent in about 2 weeks or less

Still like being pregnant and am not in rush to have baby as am enjoying faffing about, although walking is so s-l-o-w and need loo constantly and feel like I am about to burst if I eat anything and baby is quite wriggly. But I like the excuse to chill at home and think it will be hard work when the baby comes, plus I don't think I will feel the same sense of wellbeing that I have now.

Maybe the dying to get on and have the baby thing will kick in again soon but at the moment, being heavily pg is chiming nicely with my natural lazy hibernating instinctsin this cold weather.

OP posts:
OnlyWantsOne · 26/11/2010 19:51

Miffster, I dont actually intend on telling any one that the baby has been born!! ha

OnlyWantsOne · 26/11/2010 19:51

miffster be thee on face book?

Miffster · 26/11/2010 19:53

No, I deleted my FB account. I might start another one at some stage but I really do not need any more excuses to faff about on the internet.

OP posts:
Miffster · 26/11/2010 19:54

ha, good plan not to tell anyone about baby being born.
I am SO not telling anyone I am going into labour and have even managed not to tell loads of people about being pg (this is where not being on FB is good).
Boy are they in for a surprise.

OP posts:
OnlyWantsOne · 26/11/2010 19:54

Mmm sneaky, thinking of deleting mine for couple of weeks so people stop bloody asking if Ive had the baby yet.

Miffster · 26/11/2010 19:58

I have started being deliberately crap about responding to phone calls, texts, emails etc, so people are trained to understand that I am not necessarily in labour, just not fucking instantly available to respond immediately to every random communication, even though I am on mat leave so 'not doing anything'. I am doing things. I am, for example, having a nap. Or going for a walk. Or eating carrot cake in a park cafe. Or reading G2. Or doing yoga. Or listening to natal hynotherapy. Or making a stew. Or on a bus to Primark.

So I am not always going to be able or willing to respond to texts from my stepmother in law etc straight away, or even for several hours, or even for a couple of days. And this DOES NOT MEAN I AM IN LABOUR.

Harsh, but effective.

OP posts:
OnlyWantsOne · 26/11/2010 20:02

I ctually told my mum to fucking leave me alone when she phoned for the 6th day in a row at 8am to ask if i was having any "pains"

Miffster · 26/11/2010 20:13

fair play.

OP posts:
OnlyWantsOne · 26/11/2010 20:22

Very unfair of me, but ive been getting sod all sleep (why is my bed so much more comfortable at the moment with out DP in it?) and she never ever normally phones me...
