Good point about the after pains OWO - apparently they get progresivele worse after each pg / labour so am expecting them to be sore this time as after DS2 they were pretty achy. Although I loved BF, the after pains that were triggered by feeding made it a bit sore for a while. Must make sure we have some super strength paracetomol.

DF - I think your baby communication plan sounds spot on! I can't bear the constant update scenario either, just because it would make me feel like a performing monkey... Although I did call my best friend in labour with DS2 as I'd had an epidrual and thought it was the best thing on earth and had to share that with her!!! Also just loved the idea of passing the time with a friend on the phone while contracting away blissfully unaware Wink.

GGG - VERY glad little one had turned and good to hear a positive ECV story Smile. Roll on the home birth... Speaking on which there are a lot of home births on here!!! very excited for you all.

Christmas!!! Have to say I'm pretty much ready - bought and wrapped Blush. Its the first year ever, but as I'm now over 39 wks I thought it best to be as prepared as I can be. Feels great (well, kind of) to be in the final final straight. Although I could go over I'm now in my 40th week Grin. Just gotta write the xmas cards now although I think I'll leave a blank space to add DS3's name... Smile.

Cheryl - Wierd about your bump, but very glad to hear that the movements are back - must have dropped quite a lot... I dont think mine has dropped that much but people keep commenting that it looks lower and today am getting a lot of bottom pressure Blush. I keep thinking I need to do a big poo but there is nothing there - wonder if we're getting close... DH has taken to saying every day - "do you think its today / tonight".... I DONT KNOW!!!!! And my mum is caling more frequently to tell me a) they are going out to lunch b) they can't go to lunch as its snowing heavily c) the snow is getting much heavier d) the snow has finally stopped e) what she's got my dad for xmas etc etc etc.... I like talking to her but there is only so much enthusiasm I can generate for such meaningless calls. I think she's hoping that one time I'll say that things are starting. I shouldn't moan really as it must be hard with her being quite far away.

Right, better get DS1 to bed....

Chooster · 26/11/2010 20:29

Ahhh, crossed OWO and miffster - funny we've got the same problem with mums and meaningless constant calls Smile

jobobpip08 · 26/11/2010 22:21

hi ladies hope you're all safe and well. Just a quick note to say baby Michael arrived today at 00.26 after a planned induction. All safely snuggled at home now. xxx

MrsSnaplegs · 26/11/2010 22:27

Congrats Jobobpip glad you are both ok

GreenGeekGirl · 26/11/2010 23:44

Just watched the film Orgasmic Birth and would massively recommend it - very inspiring!

Mifster It was the (I believe) now defunct official Glastonbury message boards on Virtual Festivals that we were on but I have been on Urban and know that some of the people I mentioned are regulars there too. The internet is obviously not as big as it sometimes seems!

WLL Hooray for no breech! :)

GreenGeekGirl · 26/11/2010 23:49

Ooooh and huge congrats jobobpip! :)

93pjb · 27/11/2010 07:32

Congratulations jobobpip! Hope your are enjoying your snuggles!

Lavitabellissima · 27/11/2010 09:28

Congratulations jobobpip lovely news Grin

notso · 27/11/2010 10:09

Congratulations jobobpip Smile
Wonder who will be next!

miffster pmsl at your anti-visitor pyjamas.

chooster and owo had blissfully banished after-pains to my dim and distant memory along with the 'ring of fire' and several shitty boyfriends. Boo, they were baaad after DC2.

Miffster · 27/11/2010 10:33

Congratulations Jobobpip and welcome to the world baby Michael, a little boy with an archangel name, how lovely!

GGG aha at the Glasto forums & urban. Will check out that film, thanks - the doula mentioned it as well. She texted yesterday to say she is now officially on call for me, which is exciting.

Chooster I bought co-codamol at the chemist yesterday, and lactulose, for after the birth.

My back is not great again, it seizes after I stay in one position for too long. Just did natal hyno CD and struggled to get up afterwards from beanbag.

Last night my bump felt it was going to burst from the baby straining inside it; he feels very big and strong!Shock The activity is quite painful at times!

I think I am in denial about quite how someone so large and wriggly will get out...

maxpower · 27/11/2010 10:54

congratulations jobo wonderful news

DD and I will be attempting to make some fudge this afternoon - if it works out, we'll make a few boxes for people at Christmas. Wish us luck!

Wholelottalove · 27/11/2010 12:11

Congratulations jobo on the birth of baby Michael. Lovely name. Enjoy your snuggles :)

max is fudge hard to make? Hope it turns out nicely.

miffster hope your back isn't playing up too much. I know what you mean about feeling like something is going to burst soon! I have some really attractive new stretchmarks forming to add to the collection.

GGG thanks for the link, I'll have a look at that later.

OMG chooster I have barely started christmas shopping. Feeling very disorganised.

I am starting to veer between being concerned I'm now 37 weeks so labour could start any time and I'm not ready and feeling pretty sanguine about it all. I think because I went over last time, I feel like I still have another month to go. Just as well, given my lack of xmas shopping. Haven't even got tap attachment for the hosepipe to fill birth pool yet. Think we're going later when DH finished work.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

KittyBump · 27/11/2010 12:31

Hi All,
I've been a bit AWOL -lots to catch up on! Congratulations Jobobpip welcome to the world little Michael :)

I may have had my first BH!!! Or just a weird low down cramp - lasted about 30 seconds and hurt a little bit (I'm such a wuss!)
don't like the sound of after pains either!

So far I've been on maternity leave for one week and it seems my work have already managed to fuck my pay up so I'm not a happy bunny. I was posted my payslip this morning and despite getting a small raise, back pay for the raise till July and a small bonus I have been paid less than I usually get Angry so now I'll need to try and sort that out. Very annoying as I was planning to spend the extra pay on washable nappies :(

Sorry to those getting nagging phonecalls, that really is the last thing you need. I think I may also be quite blunt if I start getting calls checking if I've gone into labour!

I am in awe of those of you who have Christmas sorted. I have bought 3 presents so far Confused I must get online and try and find some inspiration. I cannot bake or make sweets I'm Envy of those of you who are doing this. Good luck with the fudge maxpower I've tried fudge before but it went all grainy Hmm

lee69 · 27/11/2010 15:12

Grab a cuppa this is a long one!!!and I posted this elswhere so sorry if you have read it twice ooops!
Just been for my 36 week scan yesterday and was told that baby is wrong waySad, head under my ribs and body in a kind of diagonal position with feet down, facing out the way, this is no4, and my first 2babys were lovely natural deliverys.
No3 was breech and transverse(spotted at about 34 weeks and MW was very casual in the asumption that she would turnShock)she never did and I ended up having a very truamatic emergency c-section.(that was 9 years ago)its taken me this long to be brave and have another go !!
I was hoping to have no4 natural water birth so after yesterdays scan Im a wee bit upset. Surgeon said he did not think there was much probability of the baby turning due to too much room in my womb.
I have another scan in 2 weeks and from there it will be decided if I am having a c-section.
Im a bit confused, would I be better just to settle for c-section or are there any secrets out there to get this baby to turn?
I also have SPD and again with this result from yesterday should I just resign myself to getting my head round another c-section to not add any more pain to my pelvis?(also means I can be sterillised at the same time and get the baby a bit earlier than the due date of 26th dec.......confused Confused
thanks for reading
Ps Kittybump try finding a NCT sale or nearly new baby sale, I went to one a few weks back and there were tons of Bundles of washable Nappies at low prices you would save a fortune Wink

maxpower · 27/11/2010 17:20

lee that's a tough one. I totally sympathise on the emcs dilemma as I had one with DD. I made the decision that if there were indicatiosn with this pg that a VBAC didn't stand a good chance of working, I'd go for an elcs as I just couldn't face the prospect of another emcs. Maybe it's worth trying the baby spinning techniques and seeing where things stand at your next scan before making a firm decision?

maxpower · 27/11/2010 17:21

btw we made the fudge - it's a bit sweet for my liking but DH and DD love it. It was really easy.

CheeseandGherkins · 27/11/2010 17:59

Afternoon all, nearly evening I guess. It's been busy on here, wow. Spent 2 hours in tesco this afternoon shopping...my mum looked after dcs thankfully so didn't take them. I've been getting lots of aches and cramps since being back though, maybe all the walking? I think baby may be breech again but she seems to flip about so much that I don't know what's what anymore. Getting fairly painful tightnenings, fairly often and feeling (sorry for tmi) quite wet all the time, changed my liner twice in the past hour so will see. I had a dream that I had a bloody show last night which was weird.

Loving my new iphone, not on it at the moment though as it takes too long to type out for on here. So addicited already to all the book apps and games etc, so great for waking in the night and I can't sleep, I think it will be really useful for when baby is having night feeds too! Just need to put some music on it now.

Cheryl hope things are better now, odd about your bump.

chooster almost done for Christmas here as well, had the kids presents sorted ages ago but they do need wrapping. Have all dh's family done other than his mum, just need my parents and grandad and a few more bits for DH and I'm done. How is the pressure today? Any news?

jobobpip great news, congrats :o

Miffster bad pain sounds shitty :( I feel the same with the baby movements, the last few nights I've woken really wondering if she will kick her way out! I wonder how waters haven't gone with the strength of her kicks.

Maxpower glad the fudge making went well, I made vanilla fudge once and it was lovely but the next time I tried it didn't set!

notso how are you getting on now?

WLL I'm 36+2 now and realising that baby could be born soon. I'm more or less "ready" in my mind for a vaginal birth but I'm trying desperately to get my head round a possible c-section. I still get overcome with a wave of fear at times though!

Kitty glad to see you back :)

lee I'm in a similar position in that my baby was oblique but has been said she has an unstable lie as she is constantly moving about. I'm really not sure either but have a scan on Tuesday and will need to discuss options after that. Hope you manage to figure things out. I really don't know what's best.

DuelingFanio · 27/11/2010 19:54

Congratulations Jobobpip Grin

I am loving the fact that you have no facebook Mifster One thing I have always wondered - if I put mine into hibernation (ie delete the account) can I reactivate it later and still have everything there? I like the idea of shutting it down for a while. I am also liking the idea of not answering calls etc for a while. I might at the very least not update my status as much as I usually do.

WhatWillSantaBring how is maternity leave going, hope you're not too lonely? I have loved my first week.

I am trying to sort the spare room out but realised there is no point putting the cot together in the spare room as it won't fit out of the door and we'll need it in our bedroom for a while anyway so we may as well wait until the baby needs it and put it up in our room. DH's friend helpfully suggested not to worry, telling me the baby should be kicked out of our room as soon as it outgrows the crib anyway Confused - idiot.

The bed is dismantled at least, though we will still have the mattress in there for a while and then a small sofabed. I am still a little worried about MIL and where she is planning to stay when she first flies over and then again in the spring. I don't fancy having a baby going through the 4 month growth spurt/sleep regression and my MIL in the house!

Had a pre-birth haircut yesterday and am really disappointed. It's way too short, ah well I guess it will grow again.

My baby isn't moving much - I am a little worried but then everytime I sit down and relax I get a little nudge or wriggle so I guess everything is ok.

KittyBump · 27/11/2010 21:11

Hi DF we are due at the same time and my bby is definitely moving less too (though it's never been massively active) seems this is perfectly normal though, and means we're getting closer to meeting our babies Grin here's something i found on the internet....

Less Movement Means Baby is Getting Ready

Though you do want to be careful to ensure that baby is moving here and there, as you near your due date the movement will be very different. While as you used to feel the baby roll over and could maybe even see this, you will likely experience a bit less of that as the baby gets into position for birth. Not only that, but the baby has grown so much that it has taken up a good amount of space leaving it far less room to move about within.

As you near your due date, you do want to ensure that baby is moving and always ask your doctor if you are concerned. However you do want to be aware that baby may very well be moving into position, have far less room to move, and is doing exactly what it?s supposed to do if you experience less movement.

DuelingFanio · 27/11/2010 21:32

oooh - thank you Grin

I wonder how close that means it is? It's my worst fear that I will actually give birth on my due date - the day MIL arrives. I want early or late but nothing inbetween. Still, we can't choose can we!

SlightlyTired · 28/11/2010 05:01

Hi all. Congrats Jobobpip!

It is sooooo coooold out there at the moment! Well, it is around 5am so sort of to be expected (damn pregnancy insomnia again) but yesterday was bitter and today not forecast to creep above freezing, though no snow here yet. Thank God I am due soon - do not have proper maternity coat and so am making do with ridiculous michelin man layers of knitwear.

Have thought things might be kicking off two nights in a row now. But has settled each time. First time I felt that dragging, contracting pain I thought "oh goody, here we go", followed quickly by "oh my GOD not this again, what have I gone and let myself in for?!" People did tell me that the memories would all start to come flooding back, and it seems they were right. Confused Really want to get this underway now. It may be time to start crawling around on all fours.

Kittybump I can sympathise on the work front - I received a completely unintelligible summary of mat payments in the post yesterday from payroll - will now have to give them a call, which is last thing I feel like doing, to ask them why the hell they cannot manage the simplest tasks... Angry

DF quite jealous of your too short haircut actually. I had mine done a couple of weeks ago and I swear I had a hairstyle for about 2 days before it degenerated into shaggy bush hair again. Something about these pregnancy hormones that makes my hair go crazy. I think I will need to get it cut again before the birth or by the time I do get around to it after Christmas I will look truly horrendous.

MrsSnaplegs · 28/11/2010 07:39

Morning all - don't really want to be awake yet bit DD decided to come in and join me! DH still staying up/ sleeping in lounge watching cricket overnight! How come when I am away and DD sneaks in with DH she goes back to sleep but with me fidgets , chatters and pokes!!
Have you seen owo other thread sounds as of she was in labour last night!

I slept last night! from 12.30pm - 6.40am! I only woke up once! And I feel great!

Have come to the conclusion that most of my feeling crap is because of not enough sleep. The key thing seems to be getting 4 uninterrupted hours. Hmmmm.

DH is mad keen to for me to express so he can be on middle of the night feeding duty when Tiny arrives. This is because he wants an excuse to watch the Ashes.

However the Ashes finish in January.

Hmm

Lavitabellissima · 28/11/2010 10:05

Miffster I would definitely take your DH's offer of help Smile those early days it would be great to not get up in the night Smile

I bought this double breast pump and it's brilliant, takes me 10 mins and I have enough milk for the twins 11pm feed that DP does (alone!) each night, so I go to bed at about 9.30/10pm and then sleep until the 3am feed. It's brilliant, and I feel so much better for the sleep.

I am lucky in a lot of ways as because the girls were premature they are sleepy, but we have them in a daytime 3 hourly feed routine and at night 4 hourly, but we often wake them to feed. It's going very well at the moment, I'm sure once we start the postnatal thread I'll be screaming for help, but so far so good.

I can't wait to hear more birth stories, hope it's going well for OWO Grin
