bugger! 38 weeks and irt moves. I guess I should start bouncing on my ball!

Wholelottalove · 30/11/2010 08:20

DF it might not be transverse. Mine is definitely head down as confirmed by scan and I can feel lump on right where back is and another on the left which is (I assume) part of the leg. I was wondering if it was transverse too, but I know it definitely hasn't moved round since the scan last week. But you could always book yourself appointment to see midwife and get position checked if you're worried. I think for first babies it is less likely to pop back out once engaged but I know they can.

Morning everyone. Hope all ok. Snow here finally. Not much and DH has taken DD to nursery, but feel a little bit guilty as wondering if traffic will be bad or it will be hard to get her later. Last year she went to nursery in the snow as I had to be in work (although stayed home in the worst of it).

Doctor gave me pessary yesterday and also some tablets for heartburn. Took one last night and actually I had a better night in terms of heartburn than usual which was good.

GreenGeekGirl · 30/11/2010 08:44

Grin SNOW! Woke up to a proper winter wonderland this morning in Bristol. I expect I'm much more pleased about the snow than most as we were away all winter last year, so missed all the excitement. I also don't really have to go anywhere too far away. Hope it don't cause too many problems for any of you!

Last NCT class today, which I'm a bit sad about. I've really enjoyed them and we have a really lovely group. I hope we do all meet up afterwards.

DF It is possible but unlikely, so don't panic! They can lie in some funny ways alright, as I have discovered. After the ECv I keep feeling my tummy and having little anxieties that the baby has moved round again but it hasn't, it's just stretching in a different way. Have a look at the Spinning Babies site (recommended to me by the lovely Juls, whom you may also know!), which might help you work it out.

Chooster · 30/11/2010 09:03

Bloody snow!!! Wink... I was really looking forward to getting some and although its lovely and pretty, this is the second day of school closure and there is only so much indoor play and snowman building a person can do - especially 9 months pregnant Smile. DH is home today thought, at least for a bit so perhaps he can be on sledging duty Grin.

Maxpower - I was realyl unsure about getting a TENS. Like others here I used it for DS1 and had no idea if it did anything or not, but again that was an induced labour so it was very sore and intense. I didn't want it taken off though just in case. This time I have hired on as I'm really really hoping for a natural more relaxed start to this labour - really hope I'm not deluding myself. I've not managed to take it out the box yet but will maybe today.

Jobo - I remember your story from the beginning when you joined and so its doubly lovley to hear of the safe arrival of Michael. And wonderful that he looks like DS2 as well. How is DS1 with him, is he a proud big brother?? My DS1 is a very proud big bro and looks forward to being a double one.

GGG - Am sure you guys will keep in touch... I'm meeting my NCT pals from 7 year ago next week - hopefully we'll all make it Smile.

DF - I get that as well so have been a bit confused. Although mine seems more wonky... I get a lot of solid movement at the top right under my ribs - I thought head but MF said feet... but then I get lots of hard solid movement bottom left - above my hip. I thought maybe that was feet (or head) but it may be shoulders of something. Basically I've no idea! But got 40 wk appt on Thursday (stop snowing sky!!!!) so she can double check its all as it should be Smile.

Right, better head off and see what the kids are doing downstairs.

DuelingFanio · 30/11/2010 09:05

Thanks both, It seems less bumpy this morning so perhaps was a leg, knee or heel. I find it really difficult to know!

I am supposed to be getting my crib today but my mum hates driving in snow so I don't think they will be able to bring it over :(

Is anyone continuing to wake up really early? I feel like I am getting enough sleep but really I was up until gone 1am, then again at 3.30, awake at 6 and now I am wide awake and about to get up. I feel fine but everyone has said to me to get as much sleep as I can when I can which I am just not doing!

DuelingFanio · 30/11/2010 09:08

ooh - cross posted with chooster

I was thinking I might shovel tne snow outside and then remembered I'm pregnant and probably shouldn't Grin

CheeseandGherkins · 30/11/2010 09:17

Morning. We have some snow here too but it isn't snowing at the moment, some settled overnight though. I'm still waking a lot in the night and early in the morning, it's hard to sleep when you feel so uncomfortable! DS1 is off school again today, had a temp of 104 the night before last and hasn't been well in himself at all. Have to see how he goes.

Scan this afternoon at 3 and have to talk to them about the unstable lie. I can feel that she's still moving all over the place, can't tell exactly which bit is where but definitely not in the same position for long.

Freezing today, hope everyone's well. How are you all doing?

Miffster · 30/11/2010 09:53

Morning everyone. Snow here.

Have just discovered something which has made me really anxious and pissed off.Angry

Bloody Thames Water are cutting off my water supply from 9am - 8pm on Thursday 2nd December because they are replacing the water mains in my road. There were notes put through doors asking to call them if there is someone in household with special need for water.

So I have just spoken to a woman on the Customer care line and explained that like 1 in 9 women in this part of London, I have chosen to have my baby at home, that my DD is 8th December
(went with my conception DD not NHS one for extra impact) and that I will need access to water. And that following the birth I will also need access to water.

And that I am fine and always have been fine about them doing what they have been doing previously which is turning the water off for 2 hours at a time (with notice), but all day???? And how long was this going on for?

She said they were scheduled to continue the work over the next few weeks or months. So I have asked someone to call me back and explain what the schedule is and what they are going to do about my important medical need for a water supply that is not switched off all day.

And that 'oh well she can just transfer to hospital to have the baby' is NOT an option, I have chosen to have the baby at home for important reasons and I am not able to alter my plans just because Thames Water want to dig outside my flat.

Oh, and my upstairs neighbour's DD is New Year's Eve so it is not just me being inconvenienced.

The lady I spoke to is a mum and was very nice and wished me good luck with the birth and she will make sure someone calls me back within one working day.

And breathe.

Hopefully me feeling anxious about not being able to have baby at home will mean my hormones kick in and I don't go into labour, because it is not safe to do so in my environment, what do you think?

Sorry about rant but flaming hell. Just when I thought everything was completely sorted and under control, this nonsense starts off. Gah.

Good luck with your scan today c&g

miffster welldone you sound like you were and are being very assertive!hope they deliver you some water somehow!

Miffster · 30/11/2010 10:40

Now going to read rest of the thread... Good luck with scan C&G, good luck with sweep lauranamium,
DF yes I wake up before 6am most days, still go to bed late, need to learn to do early nights better. About baby bits - might it not just be a long leg, and they might be scrunched up like a frog/in yoga 'child pose' position? Hope so.
maxpower I bought a tens off ebay for A a fiver more than they cost to hire, I reckon I can always sell it if it is not my thing. Good news about the cots parts.
WLL hope the heartburn improves.
Japh enjoy your massage

waves at everyone I've missed, will be back to chat more in a mo, just going to feed the birdies with stale porridge oats

japhrimel · 30/11/2010 12:10

DF - could it be a bum and a shoulder? My LO has her bum in the top right of my bump and one shoulder poking into the left side of my bump. She's head down and 1/5 engaged (4/5 out), facing my right-hand side, so in a good position.

Miffster - OMG, hope that gets sorted asap. Not what you need right now.

GGG - if no-one else in your class suggests anything, suggest meeting up for coffee soon. Our class is great and us girls have had lunch once already and have coffee scheduled for Thursday. The guys are also organising a curry night this week! It can need someone to suggest something though - maybe do it by email if you're unsure about saying anything in person?

We now have snow as well (Berkshire) but it's not too bad yet. Hoping it doesn't get much worse and that nothing happens with baby today as DH has had to drive into London for a funeral!

Wholelottalove · 30/11/2010 12:56

Have just finished scrubbing under the knobs on the hob. They were grim. Urgh. I'm not sure this counts as nesting. I don't think I realised they even came off until today so the scum underneath them was epic. Got a gleaming hob now though :)

Miffster OMG bloody Thames Water! I would be fuming as well. You don't need any extra worries at this stage and I think it's really important you feel relaxed and not anxious. They will have to arrange a supply on standby for you if you do go into labour. You're having a pool aren't you?

C&G good luck with the scan, hope it goes ok.

maxpower · 30/11/2010 13:49

Shock miffster that's a hassle you really don't need!

We've got snow - managed to get into work as by some freak event my train was the only one running out of my station this morning. DH says roads etc at home are really bad now though so I'm not looking forward to my journey home. He says he'll have to walk down to the station with DD to make sure I get back without falling over.

DF when I was expecting DD I didn't sleep past 4am for about the last 2 months of the pregnancy and I was still at work so was fairly busy during the day. This time round I could sleep 'til noon mind Wink

notso · 30/11/2010 14:04

Hello everybody,

WLL very impressed at your gleaming hob knobs Grin

japh hope your LO stays put for today.

miffster wave back Smile what a nightmare about the water, hope you get something sorted. When DS was a newborn the water was off for two days, and there was a help line to phone for elderly, vulnerable etc, I phoned and they bought round a massive bowser just for us! it was a bit Blush

C&G hope all goes well with the scan, and that DS gets better soon.

DF hope you get your crib soon, our friends finally bought the moses basket round last night. I feel calmer now the LO has somewhere to sleep.
I have developed a bad sleeping pattern of going to bed about 9, sleeping until 2, then lying there wide awake until 4, then napping after DC have gone to school.

chooster my DC are desparate for a snow day, but seeing as school is only over the road and the head lives in the road behind their chances are pretty slim!

GGG hope you enjoy your last class, and I'm sure you will get to meet up again.

thanks all for agreeing IANBU reguarding DH's party. The matter is still not resolved, as I don't have the energy to argue.
I'm not particularly annoyed, I don't mind if he is there or not during the labour, I tend to get in the zone so am happy to be on my own. I just don't want him there drunk, or smelling of drink or hungover.

Been for CTG and bloods again today, Bile Acids now 6 from being a nice steady 2 itching really bad on hands and feet too. Also while LO's heart rate was within normal range there were a lot less accelerations than there has been. Scan, and review on Friday.

See you all in December!

jobobpip08 · 30/11/2010 14:08

hi chooster I remember you too Smile.

DS1 is in theory a proud big brother, in reality he hasn't held the baby yet. I chose to leave the hospital 12 hours after the birth to try to keep things as normal as possible for him. He hasn't yet held the baby and can only say he's frightened but not explain it any more than than. Sad We had lots of anxiety prior to the birth, worries about family/baby dying etc, he's 6 so the right age to comprehend the permanence of it. He was also scared of the hospital altho we took him to show him where maternity was a few weeks before. He was 3 1/2 when we lost DS2 and he remembered the lifts. I'm hoping it won't take too long for him to come round, we're taking an easy no pressure approach and hope this works...[fingers crossed emoticon]

laurenamium · 30/11/2010 14:18

Hi all I'm back from my sweep...it wasn't very pleasant and she couldn't even do it in the end as my cervix was completely shut but very soft apparently :-/

Due tomorrow and baby is showing zero signs of coming out so looks like I've got to go the full 2 weeks knowing my luck! I've been booked in for another sweep a week tomorrow though and midwife said she will book me in for induction then too!

MrsSnaplegs · 30/11/2010 18:40

Evening all - well we had our first snow today, it was about as thick as icing sugar Sad didn't settle but was very cold - typical today was the day I HAD to pick DD up from school as DH at old house Hmm

Bit of a saga with old place, organised a cleaner for our move out inspection - today should have been day 2 for him, urgent phonecall from him at lunchtime to say he couldn't do anything as the pipes had burst and house was flooded Shock DH was on the way up anyway so sorted everything out. Shame as poor bloke had already cleaned half the house and that was the bit that got flooded Hmm At least we don't have to clean house now - they have said just to do the cooker Grin

laurenium Sorry to hear about the lack of a sweep - soft cervix is good news though!

notso how long have you got left? Have they talked about induction with your increasing bile levels?
maxp Hope you got home safe from work!!
WLL Shiny knobs eh Wink
miffster did you get the water sorted?
DF this little one is all over the place - I have given up trying to work out which bit is which he wriggles around so much - just hope he gets it the right way when it is time to come out Grin and snap to the early morning waking - I was the same last time though so it's no surprise!
C&G hope scan was okay today

right off for bath with DD (easier to get in with her than lean over side to wash her!)

Quick update from OWO other thread - she thought her waters were leaking earlier so was off to hospital for check - that was lunchtime - nothing else since

CheeseandGherkins · 30/11/2010 18:48

Back from hospital and not good news. Scan showed she's transverse and they wanted me to stay in, I had to discharge myself. I'm calling in the morning to see if they have a bed and then staying in. I wanted to come home tonight to sort the kids out and get some things ready. Basically if she stays this way they'll do a section in about 2 weeks time. If she turns head down and stays that way for 24 hours they will leave me to go naturally.

I have to stay in until she turns or is born now :( I'm so scared :( I don't want a section and I don't want to stay in hospital :( They said the risk of my waters breaking and cord prolapse are high and that if my waters do break I will be given an emergency section. I can't get my head round it, it all feels so surreal.

I feel quite panicky about it and worried about the kids, so close to Christmas. I know it's for the best for the baby but it all feels too real now and I'm so, so scared. I want her to be healthy and well.

ButtonAzure · 30/11/2010 19:01

Gosh C&G i'm really sorry to hear that :(

DuelingFanio · 30/11/2010 19:20

C&G :( I hope it all turns out ok for you. I will be thinking of you.

japhrimel · 30/11/2010 19:29

Sorry to hear that C&G. Sad

notso - did they check your LFTs as well? What's your ALT level? If they're concerned it could be a late showing of OC (which is possible - I've heard of BA levels shooting up suddenly and they only have to be over 10 to warrant an OC diagnosis with typical symptoms) then make sure they put you on Urso straight away. It can make a difference at any stage, unless you're being induced that very day. My levels have been remarkably stable thanks to being put on it so early and it kicks in within a few days.

Had my 38 week check today with a very excited GP who kept saying "cool!" to everything. Grin Think he was enjoying having a pregnant patient with nothing to complain about! BP a bit high, but OC bloods still pretty stable and nothing else wrong.

crazykat · 30/11/2010 20:32

Hope baby turns C&G, try not to worry even though it's easier said than done.

We had snow all night last night (I was obsessed with looking out the window every time I had to get up). I'm not looking forward to tomorrow though as it's supposed to snow again and be below freezing over night so all the slush will have turned to ice by morning.

My hips are killing me, feels like baby is trying to push them apart from the middle, it's especially painful in the early hours due to sleeping on my left side all the time. I ended up getting up at four this morning as it hurt so much I had no chance of sleeping.

laurenamium · 30/11/2010 20:39

c&g goodness that sounds awful!I hope baby turns over night for you I've got my fingers crossed

CherylAnnTweedy · 30/11/2010 20:59

C&G sorry to hear that. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you that she turns herself round tonight.

Wholelottalove · 30/11/2010 22:01

C&G I'm really sorry things have not worked out to plan for you. I hope the baby turns head down for you. I know how difficult it must be to be in hospital, but it sounds like it is the right place with the baby in such an awkward position. Make sure you pack lots of things to keep you distracted. Will you be able to MN? If you can, keep posting to get support on here.

crazykat I'm having a lot of trouble with my pelvis again due to position of the baby. I'm just consoling myself its not long to go now and trying to take it one day at a time.

notso and MrsS I'm very proud of my hob knobs! :o

japh glad your check went ok today.

We don't have much snow but it is quite icy and treacherous out there. DD and I are going to stay in and potter tomorrow - do some play dough and make a cake, plus I suspect plenty of cbeebies!
