Nothing to say really, just here it is!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kiwifruit · 25/09/2005 13:45

Hi STM - not much chance of a bumpy tractor ride in central London, so am trying to summon the enthusiasm for sex (DH is definitely keen, so that's a start!) .

Thanks for thinking of us RedHelen!!

So who is still left waiting?
Kiwifruit
STM
RedZuleika
Jessysmummy
Katts (??)
Milward

Have I missed anyone?

milward · 25/09/2005 13:51

Hello Kiwifruit & everyone still preg!! - still waiting here - due date was yesterday!!
Had backache contractions most of last night but they stopped when I walked around. Great for no sleep! Wished it was the real thing. Really think I'll be very over due now.

Lots of best wishes to all - looking forward to reading the birth announcements xxx

singleteenagemum · 25/09/2005 13:54

think that's everyone kiwifruit. katts must've popped by now though.

You could always try a bus KF.

Milward - hope you're not going to be VERY overdue...i'm +5 today and it's horrible.

I went to church and someone said to me 2still not had it then"...i replied "it's at hoke looking after the dog!" the old lady in question wasn't amused lol

milward · 25/09/2005 13:57

stm - just feel that I will be. Not looking forward to all the 'well meaning' comments at school tomorrow...will remember your reply!! Plus I look really huge! - can't believe it really.

singleteenagemum · 25/09/2005 13:59

i seem to have doubled in size over last few weeks thought i was doing quite well but not now! Got Noah's coming home outfit out to look at the other day...it's for up to 7.5lbs....may have to rethink!!

milward · 25/09/2005 14:02

Think that my little one will be toddler size - it's either that or the effect of too many biscuits!

KiwiKate · 25/09/2005 14:28

Hi all
hope you are well & close to delivering
xxx

singleteenagemum · 25/09/2005 14:37

Like JM said yesterday, we're not pregnant it's just wind and chocolate

beatie · 25/09/2005 17:10

Hi everyone ~ I went into town today and saw two heavily pregnant women walking around and could so empathise with the strained expressions on their faces. A week ago that was me. It seems hard to believe... this time last week DH, DD and I went for a country walk and pic-nic!

Ditto to Andif about the food. I was lucky this time as I had Alice at 5amish. I got tea and toast straight after delivery and then only had to wait until 8am for some cornflakes and toast and more tea. If no-one else has told you this, here's another food tip for first timers. When you get your menu cards in hospital, tick as many of the snack options as you can so you have some food saved up for when you're awake in the night.

Kiwifruit - I sympathise with you having to do the 24 hour urine collection. I had to do one at University, during my first month in halls. Imagine how great it was to lug that big container down the hall to the communal bathroom

Anyway - thinking of you all and wondering who will have the next arrival.

beatie · 25/09/2005 17:13

Oh yes - please think of me tomorrow when DH goes back to work - when our precious little girl is only 6 days old He works in an antiquated Independent school The highlight of my day will be an afternoon visit from the midwife. The challenge for tomorrow will be getting us all dressed before she arrives.

Kiwifruit · 25/09/2005 17:20

Beatie - great tip about the menu cards, shall have to remember that one...

Just spoke to a friend of mine whose wife was also due today, but she had a section on Friday because the baby is breech. Gave him a call to see how they were doing, and all sounds like it's going really well. I got off the phone and burst into tears as feels like I'm never going to get this baby out . Poor DH arrived home from the gym to find a blubbering mess...

Don't think I've got much bigger in the last few weeks, but something is poking me right next to my belly button, and it's really tender to touch. Have to say, need to get this baby out from the practical point that I don't really have much in the way of warm maternity clothes, and there's no point in buying anymore, but if the weather gets much worse, I'll be in trouble!! Also, can still only wear my Birkenstocks, and they're getting VERY smelly !!

singleteenagemum · 25/09/2005 18:33

With you on the clothes front...have taken to wearing my dad's shirts round the house. Only have 2pairs of trousers that fit me and it;s a nightmare...want my old clothes back

milward · 25/09/2005 20:39

Have 3 skirts that fit! - plus some tops. Have a long cardi for the colder mornings.
Know how you feel Kiwifruit - I just want ds to be born as well. A mum at school due the same as me had her little one 2 weeks early - very jealous. This happened to me with dd3 though. Had hoped ds would put in the same sort of appearence.

singleteenagemum · 25/09/2005 21:30

DNM just surprised me with a bunch of flowers and some chocolate - wasn't meant to be seeing him till little one is born.... apparently just cuddling can help....guess he'll be born tonight then lol

Cabe · 26/09/2005 01:12

Hello everyone, sorry to have abandoned you all for so long...

Nikkinoo kiwifruit STM redzuleika jessysmummy katts and milward

I've been thinking of you each day wondering if your little ones had arrived on the scene yet and at last have a few moments (whilst I wait for Conrad Milan to settle into sleep mode before I join him in the bedroom) to catch up on your progress...

Just like Beatie I feel totally in love with my little baby and can't believe that it's only a week ago when I was just waiting - counting every contraction and desperately trying every method of getting things started. Honestly it does all get forgotten in the very first moments of meeting your new arrival - so hang on in there girls... it really can't be long now

{{{hugs}}} to each and every one of you - best wishes for wonderful birth experiences - I've still not got over my overwhelming sense of achievement

Will keep peeking at the thread over the week to watch for good news... I've not yet visited the post natal group and suppose I should rightfully be posting there... just wanted to visit you all here first though

xxx Cabe xxx

bubbles2904 · 26/09/2005 07:15

good morning everyone still waiting on here, sorry if you feel we've all abandoned you, it isn't intentional, just everyone is busy with their babies, as you all will be in the next week. this is the 3rd time mia has had me up tonight so whilst i've got a few mins before waking dd1 for school, i thought i'd pop in to say hi and that you're all still in my thoughts. as someone else said, the post natal thread is quiet too.
congratulations jen and family. sorry if i've missed anyone out.
i have a strong feeling that one of you are going to pop today.

jessysmummy · 26/09/2005 10:16

Good Morning Everyone!
Unfortunately my wind and chocolate induced bump is still here! Sorry I was quiet again yesterday. Wasn't feeling too good - hoping DD hasn't passed on the gastro bug thing she had earlier on in the week. Have also discovered that my nephew has chickenpox. He's just come out in spots. Does anyone know how long he would have been infectious before that? Last thing I need is for DD to get chickenpox just as newby arrives.
Anyway, lovely to hear from you old-hand mums and thanks for the encouragement - Cabe, Bubbles, Redhelen, Kiwikate, Andif, Beatie (good luck today for when DH goes back to work!).
Happy due date for yesterday Kiwifruit - anything happen? Have any of the sept mums actually given birth on or within a couple of days of due date? MW was saying that she didn't know if there was something in the weather but all of her current mums seemed to be going over...great!!
Milward - hope you had another (more productive) uncomfortable night!
Milward and STM - I have the opposite problem - no one believes that I am 9 months pregnant and midwife keeps measuring baby a couple of weeks behind so another reason for me to believe that this little bundle is going to go quite a bit overdue. Have big hopes for my sweep tomorrow morning, though. Good luck with your appt tomorrow, too STM.

singleteenagemum · 26/09/2005 10:44

Welcome back JM. maybe you'll be the lucky one out of us left and have an averaged sized baby...MW on Saturday agrees on 9lb+ for me....yay considering i'm only 5ft3"

Anyway have given up on all methods of self induction he'll come when he's ready...i'm still taking the RLT tho, just so i feel as if i';m doing something! Sorry if TMI but my bowels haven't moved for a few days now, they did constantly but now nothing...is it a sign? not had an appetite either, except at 4 this morning when i went down for some cornflakes!

jessysmummy · 26/09/2005 10:54

That's what I was like yesterday, STM, no apetite at all.
MWs often get the baby size wrong - maybe I'll be the one that ends up with the 9lber! My DS's first was 10lb 4 and second was 9lb 13 so I was expecting DD to be big. She ended up a nice 7lb 10. I think that cos I'm quite tall - 5' 10" - bump looks smaller than it actually is. Also my huge boobs make bump look smaller too.
I'm persevering with the RLT too. TMI warning Still getting small amounts of jelly like discharge most times when I go to the loo so hoping that cervix is thinning away.

KiwiKate · 26/09/2005 11:09

Come on September babies! Time to get moving now and give your mum's a break from being pregnant!
(hope my pep talk helps getting someone moving)

Rhumba · 26/09/2005 11:21

I'm still here but just been busy getting every thing ready and everything we do seems to creat another job! Think I've found and washed all the baby stuff but also had to put loads in the loft so lots of sorting and tidying done! Not due til Thursday so enjoying the the time off with out the horrors of being over due. Was induced at 13+ last time so am sure I'll be over this time too. Hopefully not as much though! Midwife is going to try a sweep tomorrow as she know's how keen I am for a more natural labour

Had a lovely weekend. Went into London and to the Aquarium with Dh and DS. really weird to think this could be the last weekend just the three of us (and the last time for a while we can do something like that so easiy without carting heaps of stuff around with us - didn't even bother with the buggy)

Already have the "any twinges" messages pouring in. Nothing so far. Must admit I've been very impressed by the reports of the DAU at UCh (Iused to work at UCH) seems like KF and Katts are being really supported. Just heard my local hospital is short staffed at the moment and from my previous experience, have a very medicalised "we know best" approach.

jessysmummy · 26/09/2005 11:24

Thanks Kiwikate!!
Rhumba - so you're joining the sweeping crew with STM and I tomorrow. Do you think we could all produce on the same day? We'll see...good luck!

RedZuleika · 26/09/2005 11:53

Morning morning.

I'm getting loads of those 'any twinges?' messages too. I appreciate that people care, but it's bloody irritating. YES - I'M ONE BIG TWINGE - they're just not amounting to anything!

mymama · 26/09/2005 11:59

jessysmummy your nephew would have been infectious just prior to the spots. If your ds has caught it he should get his first spot around 14 days from contact with nephew. My dd caught from cousin and showed exactly 14 days from contact and her baby brother showed exactly 14 days from her first spot.

mymama · 26/09/2005 12:00

forgot to mention that the "postules" are contagious until they have scabbed over and dried out.
