Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mummyhill · 28/09/2005 15:22

Don't you dare join Octobers post natal thread girls we have seen each other through the highs and lows of the last nine months lets continue that support. I feel as if we have all gotten to know each other quite well and am disapointed that I have not been able to come and meet you for pedicures etc but birmingham to london is a bit far for an afternoon when pregnant!!!

singleteenagemum · 28/09/2005 15:58

Not sure if i'm imagining it, but i think i;m getting contractions every 20mins or so...not sure so i dont think i am lol.

feel really crappy today, i'm not even dressed!!

singleteenagemum · 28/09/2005 15:59

kelli22 · 28/09/2005 20:48

kelli22 · 29/09/2005 00:34

i am def in labour, no mistaking it, contractions are every 6mins (approx) been having them since 8pm (regularly but having niggles since midwife did my sweep at 10am) 2 baths and some paracetamol later the contractions are only lasting just less than 30secs and ive got to wait until they last a minute and are 3 mins apart before i go into hospital, they are like strong period pains and though uncomfortable they are bearable at the min......... hopefully this time tomorrow i will be holding my little girl. i hope the rest of you girls join me soon, sorry for my short stay on this board! ill update when im home safe thanks for your support girls i thought this baby was never coming....im now 41wks (as of 12am 29/9/05)

KiwiKate · 29/09/2005 02:30

I agree with Mummyhill. Don't dare join the October postnatal thread. The September thread would miss you too much!

Take care and hope you are all well.

jessysmummy · 29/09/2005 07:21

Go for it Kelli! Hope all goes ok. Looking forward to hear your news!
STM - did your pains turn into anything?
And Kiwifruit was quiet yesterday, too. Ooh, everyone could be having/have had babies...except me, of course!!!
RZ are you still waiting?...And Rhumba?

Katts · 29/09/2005 07:52

Apologies for not having time to read all the messages just wanted to pass on our news.

Lola Emanuelle arrived at 12:39 a.m. last Sunday the 25th weighing 7 lbs 6 oz and is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!

Ended up having a cesaerian in the end. This was a far cry from planned homebirth but I feel very positive about the experience and that it was the right thing to do. The doctors in the hospital kept telling me I should be induced first but I had a gut feeling that was the wrong thing to do. Turns out I was absolutely right because the surgical team said my uterus showed signs of an obstructed labour, was kind of pear shaped with Lola's head stuck in the small end and thick muscle wrapped around her neck. So if I had been induced it would have ended in an emergency caeserian anyway - and who knows what else. I'm just really happy that I listened to my body and made the decision I did.

We're at home now and happy. I'm exhausted. Recovering from surgery and taking care of Lola isn't easy but I'm really enjoying it. (that could be all the opiates they've been pumping into me for the last few days though).

jessysmummy · 29/09/2005 08:28

Congratulations Katts and welcome to little Lola! Hope we'll be joining you very soon in mother bliss!

Boompi · 29/09/2005 08:50

Congrats Katts!! Enjoy little Lola.

RedZuleika · 29/09/2005 09:05

Morning morning.

Congratulations Katts!

JM: Yes - I'm still here, still waiting. Feeling nauseous and generally fed up - but nothing happening at all. The midwife came yesterday: peanut fine, amnion levels fine, heartrate fine - it's just too damn comfortable in there.

Daisydot · 29/09/2005 09:07

Congratulations Katts, love the name Lola. Reminds me of that Barry Manilow song..... 'her name was Lola, she was a showgirl.....!' It's such a pretty name.
Andif, Grace was born at Kingston on 21st September. Were you in the hospital then? I came home last Saturday.
Due the fact Grace was breech, she has two dislocated hips, which the paediatrician picked up on before we left for home. We are now under Kingston Hospital for this (boo hoo) and went for a hip scan yesterday. Grace goes back next Wed to be fitted with a leg brace, which looks so sad......... she will need to keep this on for 6-12 weeks and hopefully this will correct the problem. No bathing during this time, just top and tails, and she won't be able to kick her litle legs which is a great shame. She loves doing this.............. Sigh............ Bit the bullet and came off all the painkillers two days ago. Still sore and uncomfortable esp in bed, but it's bearable. Still expressing milk, Grace is not keen on the breast. Phoning La Leche today to see if they can help. Hope there are little mumsnet babies being born as I type, but for those of you still pregnant, enjoy your quality time......... it quickly vanishes when the little one appears!!

RedZuleika · 29/09/2005 09:17

Hmm - not sure about this 'quality time' bit... not sure I've spotted much of that lately.

My wrist brace for the carpal tunnel syndrome has just arrived! Highlight of my day...

Sorry to hear about the hip thing, Daisydot. I went out with a bloke once who had one dislocated hip at birth, but which wasn't spotted. Then everyone wondered why he was a very screamy baby. By the time it was noticed, it was a bit late and he had to have lots of operations, time in hospital etc. Even at the age of 20-something, he had a bit of a limp. Good that it can be dealt with comparatively simply when spotted early.

mummyhill · 29/09/2005 09:28

COngratulations Katts and welcome to Lola Emanuelle.

Daisydot to just to reiterate what red has said. It's great that they have picked up on grace's hips now. My baby sister had a dislocated hip at birth and it wasn't detected till she was 18months and still not walking having been an extremley fractious baby. She had to have surgery to correct it and still limps occassionally now when tired. And is very self concious when swimming as the scars run to half way down her thigh.

Keeping my fingers crossed for eveyone still waiting.

andif · 29/09/2005 09:30

Morning all!
Congrats to Katts and Lola
Daisydot - I gave birth on 22nd, so wish I'd made an effort to find you at Kingston, although 1 day after a c-section is probably not the best time for a meet-up! Sorry to hear about Grace's hips, at least it's something that can be sorted relatively easily, even though it probably doesn't feel like it at the moment.
Labour vibes coming your way to everybody still waiting!! I know it's frustrating, but I do think late babies are born a bit more ready for the world - Nell is incredibly alert [proud mother emotion] already!!

OP posts:
RedZuleika · 29/09/2005 09:32

Yes - this bloke I went out with was really self-conscious about his scarring too! He would turn the lights out before getting his kit off - which I think is rather unusual in a man. Slide out of bed in the morning with his left leg turned away from me.

I really don't know for how long he thought I wouldn't notice... [bewildered emoticon] Or why I would care...

beatie · 29/09/2005 10:17

Congrats Katts and welcome to the world baby Lola. That's amazing that you had a 6th sense about something being not quite right. Glad she got here safely.

Kelli - Hope you've had your baby by now. I would tell all others still waiting to stuff the paracetamol. I think they make your contractions feel shorter. Once I took the paracetamol I was only able to feel the contraction when it was at its peak.

Andif - I have to agree with you - Alice is so alert too. She has many moments of contented wakefulness. And won't they smile a little sooner too?

singleteenagemum · 29/09/2005 10:40

Good morning everyone,
It;s been a while since i've had that many posts to catch up on...

Kelli - hope you're not reading this, but that you got some rest last night and are now holding your little girl.

Daisy - sorry to hear about Grace, you sound quite positive about it and it;s good they're doing something so soon. Fingers crossed for you and Grace.

Well case you hadn't noticed i'm still here...you're not on your own yet JM! Still getting horrible pains every 20mins or so but nothing major, not expecting it to turn into anything, keeping my mind fixed on Saturday, i cant be disappointed that way.

Nights are good atm, cant get off to sleep and then when i do at about 3 i wake up every hour til 8 and then sleep through till 10...i hope it;'s a sign that he's not a morning baby...he knows mummy needs her lie ins already...isn't that sweet lol

O and congratualtions Katts, we were wandering were you'd got to. Sorry you didn't get the birth you wanted...glad you're positve about the one you got though.

bubbles2904 · 29/09/2005 11:28

Good morning all
KATTS, congratulations and welcome Lola.
DAISYDOT, sorry about grace, hope she's ok.
KELLI, good luck, hope you've got your gorgeous daughter in your arms as i speak.
STM, sorry, you're still here, in the nicest possible way, but i'm all excited for you now.
JESSYSMUMMY, REDZ, RHUMBA,KF, and if i've forgotten anyone then you too, my fingers are crossed for all of you. i really can't wait until we're all on the other side together.

RedZuleika · 29/09/2005 11:35

Thanks!

STM: Mine is definitely Not A Morning Baby. Very wriggly in the evening, but generally barely a squeak out of it from waking til about 11-ish. Which is a shame, in a way, because I'm more of a morning person.

singleteenagemum · 29/09/2005 12:58

This threads getting a bit full again. we cant have a number 16 though that's awful!!

bubbles2904 · 29/09/2005 14:42

oohh it's dead in here, hope you're all busy having babies

RedZuleika · 29/09/2005 14:49

Nooooo - and my husband was tidying at the weekend, so I can't even find my caulophyllum now.

KiwiKate · 29/09/2005 16:40

dd has just had her longest sleep in her whole (2-wk) life. 2 and a half hours!

Rz. hope you find it!!

Rhumba · 29/09/2005 20:59

Still here too. Just had a very busy day. Went swimming with DS, shopping for food then friends over for luch, brisk (as much as you can be when dragging a toddler)walk to the park and then once Dh was home a brisk walk round the shops to get new swimming trunks. Think I had a show this am. otherwise nothing - It's my due date today so still fairly calm although had got hopes up after I saw the midwife on Tuesday.

Just went and bought some caulophyllum 200mg. How do youtake it? Person said to take it weekly but I thought you took it more often. there is loads in the bottle so can throw some in the post if you can't find yours RZ - just CAT me if you want some.

Congrats to Katts and sorry to here about Grace but agreee with other comments made by others.
