Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi! I'm after a bit of a pep talk and a cheer-up, please. Just reading back the last couple of pages, Cerubina I'm having the same sort of problems you were, I think. 33 weeks now and bump is so difficult so much of the time I'm starting feel really down and worn out. Babies growing like mad and very wiggly, which is great, but I literally can't get comfortable and I can't rest. Lying down? Ha! I dream about being able to lie down. When the babies are asleep, everything softens and if I'm quick I can get in a snooze too, but as long as they're awake and there's any kind of tension in their bodies I'm a sore, bumpy, miserable woman!

I should buck up, really, it'll all be worth it. But it's hard, isn't it.

Since people are talking about delivery etc, I'm looking at a c-section at 38 weeks, as twin one is breech. My hospital care has been fantastic, I have a scan and see my twins consultant every two weeks (since 28 weeks) even though the twins are DCDA and we've had no problems so far.

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 23/02/2011 17:34

Hugs for your cantdrink it is such hard work, I have been pretty much in bed for the last 3 weeks as I just find everything impossible/uncomfortable/painful/HELL now. Don't be hard on yourself you are doing such a good job. I totally understand about the not sleeping I am up nearly all night and can sleep for a max of about 2 hours a night........I doze during the day and have been able to get about an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon good sleep (luckily DD is at school/MIL helping out during half term so I can rest). My only other advice is drink loads of water (I know this means peeing more but it def helps with all the other niggles). Chin up it will be so worth it :)

My bump has really dropped so breathing is much easier.........lots of BHs today although sometimes I can't tell what's BHs and what's movement it is so tight in there!

holidays2010 · 23/02/2011 21:32

Wow we've already done over 700 msgs on this thread - we'll have to make a new one soon!
OH assembled the cot today, it sits next to my bed, makes things more real once you have everything set up and ready!
He doesnt think i'll make it to my induction day but i'm feeling fine and hope to make it. He also hasnt come to terms with the fact we're having twins, poor man will probably put one car seat in the car when he picks me up from the hospital! Grin

The dr at hospital spoke to me about doing a 'sweep' but i think that would stress me out, id rather just go in for the induction on the date set.

Hope those of you who are having difficulty catch a break soon!

Cerubina · 24/02/2011 09:46

Morning all

Magic I wondered if I might bump into you in the delivery suite yesterday. I was told to go down there and get checked out - had a little bit of bloody mucus (TMI) and wondered if things were starting up early. All is fine, bleeding is just from cervix and all quiet since. They've taken a swab to test for Group B Strep which is quite good as it's not done routinely, but they do want me to have a GTT as well which is more of a drag (I'm sure I don't have diabetes).

They were mega busy in there yesterday so hope things have calmed down by the time you go. Glad the MIL is on hand and taking a load off your hands for you. It does sound as though you are on the verge of it all now - and soon all the discomfort and aggravation will be melting away when you meet your little ones.

Cantdrink you sound really fed up, I don't blame you. Carrying twins is bloody hard work. Are you on maternity leave at least? And do you have help around the house so you're not having to tire yourself out on chores? I think my twins get extra uncomfortable if I have over-exerted myself, so rest is really important - not easy if you can't get comfy in any position, but a hot water bottle really helps me relax. Hope you can find some relief.

Holidays great to have the cot set up. I can imagine having it sitting by the bed might be a bit scary though, like you say a real reminder that it is all about to happen. I might have a moment of realisation myself after this weekend - at the moment the nursery is full of boxes of flatpack furniture which my family are coming to help us assemble. We're also picking up a sofabed that we're buying from friends and all of a sudden a room that's just been full of crap for 6 months is going to be properly set up to receive two babies. That'll be a shock.

Jenz I agree with everyone else - your swift weight loss and success with BF are a bit impressive! It's nice for us to hear encouraging stories, especially on days when we're all feeling like big fat sows...

I've got a quiet day planned today after several days of admin tasks, deliveries and internet research. We're going to a Tamba class tonight on "what to expect" and tomorrow I'm meeting our NCT ladies for coffee - fortunately all seem nice and not at all competitive mum-like, which I feared from NCT to be honest.

Hope everyone has a good day.

MissyMolly · 24/02/2011 13:00

Hi everyone, hope everyone is hanging in there Smile

Is anyone starting to get a little, um, scared about soon having two babies to look after?! Blush or is it just me?! I'm very excited and so happy to be having twins but I am having little moments of "oh my god how are we going to cope!"

Please someone say I'm not the only one??

holidays2010 · 24/02/2011 17:10

Dont worry missymolly, ive been through that but ive managed to relax. im just taking each day as it comes and keeping my cool.
Im hoping having two babies plus one child to look after wont prove too much for me. Ive managed the pregnancy well so maybe the rest will be ok too??
We're even in the middle of some money problems at the mo but im not stressing at all, just waiting to see the outcome!

hippy3 · 24/02/2011 18:55

i am scared too...Keep praying that they wont come before we move next weekend.... ! have just thought am probably going to be offline for a bit until we get internet sorted for our new place... Sad so am prob going to miss some birth stories on here...! gutted....

Think Ive been suffering from BH over the last few days. It feels like a huge stitch after running. That is stuck in one muscle, one minute one side the next tine the other side...Is this BH??? Blush

Also was a bit worried earlier , seemed that the one had stopped moving so much but have felt them both loads again this afternoon, and the midwife did say they wont move as much when they get bigger as there is less room? but it seems the last few weeks they have been going demented ! I can feel a hard lump under my ribs..its either a bum or head. Who knows...? and flicking very low down...

am so excited as it is MY LAST DAY OF WORK TOMORROW!!! thank god is all I can say...

magic keep us posted.....x
cerub sounds like youve had a hard run over the last few weeks... xx all the ladies who are due in the next few weeks am so excited for you...we have done really well to get this far I think ! x

MissyMolly · 24/02/2011 18:57

Holidays, you're doing so well staying positive and not stressing- I still haven't completely got my head around finances and still waiting to move house- just want to get sorted now!

MissyMolly · 24/02/2011 19:01

How many weeks are you now hippy? Good luck with the move and last day at work. I've thought I've had BH a couple of times, everything went very 'tight' and felt strange- not sure though!

holidays2010 · 24/02/2011 23:53

Just been thinking about how many nappies theyl get through - now that does worry me! So am seriously considering going reusable but dont know if i have enough to fork up front for equipment..and my stupid council arent even in any schemes to help with costs. i might have to start with disposables then when money comes in for the twins il get the reusable set.
Il speak to DH tomorrow about it see what he thinks then il use his pc to see where i can get the best deal on a starter kit.

Jenzopos · 25/02/2011 08:24

The cheapest are terry towel style with a wrap but these are probably more fiddly than the shaped or pocket ones. I use Bum genius One size birth to potty..good because you don't have to buy different sizes. They are also as easy to put on as a disposable and i dry pail them and do a wash every other day. Good deals at the moment on version 3s as they are now discontinued! Bgs won't fit until they are 8-9lbs so might give you time to save up

Cantdrinkanymoremilk · 25/02/2011 12:33

Thanks Magic8 and everyone, it helps so much to know it's not just me! Feeling a bit brighter now - washed all the little baby clothes and hung them up to dry, they're so cute I can't help but smile. I'm lucky, I've got tons of support - my husband is brilliant and he can't do enough for us, it's hard for him to understand what it really feels like sometimes though.

I'm not really panicking about the reality of having two babies to take care of (yet!) - the upside of being so uncomfortable is that I can't think beyond actually having them! Just a few weeks to go now...

hippy3 · 25/02/2011 17:40

missmolly am 31 weeks in two days.... where the hell has this time gone !! Cried today when I left work, not what I would normally do, I also know monday morning when I wake up and dont have to drag my ass out of bed I will be smiling !

Am tired, we have my DP brother over this weekend from Ireland, I am already in my pyjamas. ! Hope hes not expecting to be entertained !!

Um..not much else to report at the moment, can feel them kicking me allover the pace again today.. so am relieved about that ! Smile hope everyone has a great weekend.....xxx

holidays2010 · 25/02/2011 18:41

Well unless OH gets his increase on his credit card next week these babies will be nappy-less within days of getting home, at least they wont go hungry with BF'ing!
i'll have a look at those bumgenius v3 nappies...

smokeybacon · 26/02/2011 08:42

Has anyone heard from tabbycat? She was due on the 21st.

hippy3 · 26/02/2011 15:30

smokey was wondering the same thing...?? Hope everything is ok...

ilove2shop · 27/02/2011 20:49

hello!!

hope you are all ok - i have just found out i am expecting twins.... im only 6wks gone, so very early days!

If you had to give a newbie any tips what would they be? Also, did anyone experience any low down twinges?? Other than that im feeling just fine, no sickness, just very tired!!! xxxxxxxxxxx

thingamajig · 27/02/2011 21:45

Hi all,
Haven't caught up yet, hope you are all well. My 2 were born on 13th Feb, we have just got out of hospital and I am loving my first night home. They were born very quickly and naturally - all over in 2 and a half hours! Hannah 5lb4oz and Louise 4lb4oz.
I will post properly soon.
Nappywise I change them every feed, so with 4hr feeds thats 6 a day x 2 babies=12 a day, 84 a week. One 24 pack of nappies lasts 2 days.

restingkitty · 28/02/2011 09:12

Huge congratulations!!! Fantastic news to be back at home with two lovely girls - well done Smile

welcome ilove and congratulations to you too! I'm only 25 weeks, but my advice so far would be: listen to your body - eat what you like when you like; rest when you can; drink lots of water; take any assistance offered...and try to be patient when you start telling people your news! I was asked the same questions again...and again...and again....! (although so far I've only had one person ask me whether my B/G twins will be identical Confused

We completed on our new house on Friday! Big relief. I hope the other various moves and house hunts are going well. I feel for you all, on FRiday night I was EXHAUSTED

Jenzopos · 28/02/2011 09:48

seeing all these weights makes me realize what whoppers i had at 6lb 7 and 7lb 5!

holidays2010 · 28/02/2011 10:34

Great news thingamajig!

on my last scan the twins were estimated at 6lbs 2 but the other at 6lbs 5! Guess i'll find out soon enough... :D
And welcome ilove2shop!

hippy3 · 28/02/2011 10:48

thingamajig congrats....!!! I think they are pretty good weights to be honest I am not expecting mine to be much over 5 lb ish each....? as there are two of them, and I am not that big.

jenz yep your babies were big babies ..... Smile

restingkitty we move friday cannot wait. Have my first day of mat leave today and woke up at 10.20 !!! slept from 11 last night. But am going to spend the day packing things that I can...i.e. any light bits and pieces. am thinking i am going to go out for the day and let my DP and friends sort out the move...I have a tendancy to interfere... so I might just be better off leaving them too it.
Ilove2shop welcome..... You will probably find you are on here loads..I know I have been. I second that advice, take it easy, take everyting the doctors tell you with a pinch of salt..they seemed to spend the first few weeks freaking us out repeating what the risks are, and juts enjoy being pregnant with tinws...your VERY lucky that you dont feel sick... my first 12 weeks I felt I was on a boat all day everyday... Smile .

Still no word from tabby ??

restingkitty · 28/02/2011 11:35

Hi hippy yes definitely go out and get others to sort out the move. TBH I think I did too much and was really feeling quite a lot of pain across the bottom of my bump. As you say, LIGHT bits only!

ps - additional advice: step away from google searches!! I did far too much reading on vanishing twins and complications in twin pregnancy. Did that help me at all? No. Be as positive as you can.

holidays2010 · 28/02/2011 17:07

Hippy3, i'm only 5'1 but my first was nearly 10lbs! And these two have been estimated over 6lbs each, so i dont think your size will necesarily mean your having small babies.

hippy3 · 28/02/2011 18:10

holidays thats really good to hear... they are doing fine at the moment anyway. Another scan on wednesday..am actually look forward to them now. Smile fingers crossed they are still growing nicely...off to a breast feeding talk /class thing this eve.... all I want to do is go to bed and watch OBEM. [smile)
