MP - im crabby too.... mainly because my partner in crime's waters have broke ALREADY!

ITS JUST NOT FAIR!!! (Tantrum pants here!)

Redtartanlass · 04/10/2005 10:31

Oh fastasleep, how exciting, I coldn't believe it when I saw you had pt an update on at 4am. I thought you would defintately of had her!!! Oh well, next time we hear from you, you'll have a wee babe in arms.

BigBumpBonnie · 04/10/2005 10:55

wow Fastasleep, good luck!!!!! It's really getting exciting on here now, I can't wait to log on every day to see how everyone's doing.

RTL, because you haven't been on for so long I'd started to think you'd popped already!

I went for a walk yesterday and then went shopping with dh last night as I'm thinking the way to get this baby out is to keep active. I'm getting braxton hicks on top of eachother which are quite painful but that's all, would love something concrete to happen like waters breaking. My edd by scan is tomorrow, I've got a midwife appointment on Thursday so if nothings happened by then they will be sending me for monitoring at the hospital (which is the norm here for overdue babies). It's horrible because every midwife appointment you make, you live in hope you won't be keeping. Oh well. Another thing I'm worried about is i've managed to keep stretchmarks at bay but spoke to someone else who didn't have any but got loads as they went a week overdue. Can you imagine

Anyway I think it goes without saying that Fastasleep will be next, can't wait for news

BROWNY · 04/10/2005 11:19

Wishing you all the luck in the world Fastasleep for a very quick, and relatively pain free birth - hope to read your birth announcement very soon!!!!

mawbroon · 04/10/2005 11:39

Fastasleep - hope everything is going/went well for you. And Lexie, you can't be far behind surely........

I am wondering if my baby's bum has maybe engaged (not sure if breechies do that?). I have a heavy feeling on my pelvic floor and haven't had heartburn for a couple of days. Bloody hell, he'll NEVER turn if that's the case . I am seeing the midwife this afternoon so will ask her.

Not long now ladies, even for those of us due at the end of the month. Hang on in there

MB

Elf1981 · 04/10/2005 11:50

mawbroon - breechies do engage head first. Luckily mine has no sense of direction and is trying to swim up through my mouth, or so it feels like
I'll get that leaflet sent out to you today.

Good luck to those close to giving birth, hope it's swift and painless! For everybody else, hang on in there, isn't long left...

Going to hospital today for my bloods, then back in Thursday morning to meet Boo.

My mum checked into hospital this morning for her op (tomorrow) but there's no beds as yet so not sure what's happening. All I know is that when I visit, I've got to take her nail varnish remover as she's got to take the varnish off her toe nails. Not sure why as the op is on her arm!

Lexie100 · 04/10/2005 11:53

they like to check your cuticles when you have an opp. Same for a c section apparently. A friend of mine had a pedicure the day before she had a c section and they took off all the nail varnish. She was not impressed.

Redtartanlass Sorry, you had a shitty weekend. Hope the sun is shining for you today. How far away is DS1? But as you can't count missing in miles, I suppose what matters is he's away..! Hopefully to something he really wants to do!? Soon, your new wee baby will "cushin the bruises". (Can you say that in English?) Thanks for thinking about me it's nice to be missed . I have been quite low, tired and busy. And ex-DH has been visiting. It went OK though very emotional from time to time, and DD asking questions that were hard and painful to answer (about us all not living together...) But of course questions will be asked. Just hard to explain things at her age (2y 9m). Her daddy left today, and although I am completely finished with him as a partner, I am still very sad to see him go -- mostly because of his and DD's pain. Feeling very lonely just now, as DD is in nursery. Tearful, hormonal, fed up with baby being horizontal and me being sore, nervous about MW tomorrow and what the scan will show and if I want a "turn"...

Sorry for the long moan.

Fastasleep -- thinking about you!

danishmummy · 04/10/2005 11:59

Mawbroon -- good luck at MW today! And to your mum.

danishmummy · 04/10/2005 12:00

Sorry -- that "And to your mum" was of course meant for Elf!!!!!

grannygoose · 04/10/2005 15:11

Thinking of you FS - hope that by now you have your beautiful babe in arms, and are enjoying those first precious hours.

Good luck to Elf's mum too. Thanks for the toenail tips - I was planning to go for a pedicure next week, but might not bother about that now. Perhaps save that for afterwards.

Does anybody have any advice on how to tell which bits of baby are making those interesting pyramids on my tummy? I think he is head down, as the hiccups always feel really low down, but what's that bit shoogling from side to side across the middle? Just worried about "back labour"

triceratops · 04/10/2005 15:15

Looks like fastasleep won't be getting any sleep for a while now . I am so jealous

I hope everything goes OK.

triceratops · 04/10/2005 15:16

Elf if the baby is head down and back to front the sticky out bit near your tummy button is the babies bum.

alterego · 04/10/2005 15:40

Fastasleep - sending good luck vibes to you, wherever you are, if you haven't given birth already that is. What's with the a/bs - is that because you weren't well. So sorry you have to put up with this - didn't I warn/frighten you that you could go into labour soon

Too late now to tell you (but may be useful for others planning homebirth) that when my community m/w came round after the birth she said that she could have attended me at home even though she hadn't delivered the kit etc. and babe being only 37+1. Was very surprised (given the very consultant-led approach of my hospital) and also very disappointed that I had assumed that it wasn't an option.

ANyway, enough rambling, hope everything goes really well and that you're back here soon telling us all about it.

grannygoose · 04/10/2005 15:41

I have been scaring myself to death reading the thread about bedmates in the labour wards. Aarrgh - How soon can you discharge yourself?

nervousmum · 04/10/2005 16:00

Hi All

Well, i was admitted on the Monday for my section, then discharged on the Wednesday morning. Basically, you can discharge yourself when you want, within reason.

Joey is still doing well, thankfully my boobs have settled down though i too have red-raw nips courtesy of my little 'vacuum cleaner' boy. Ahh, the joys of motherhood...

Good luck Fastasleep - looking forward to the birth announcement and seeing you on the postnatal club forum. And good luck to everyone else - not long to go now

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 04/10/2005 19:05

STILL no news?!

Well ive just had my first cup of raspberry leaf tea..... not too bad ( ok so there was 3 sugars in it ) so lets see if it does anything!!

Anyone know how many you are supposed to have in a day?!

morningpaper · 04/10/2005 19:15

We aren't doing very well - no birth announcements for AAAAGES! Hope you are are all okay. xxx

Lexie100 · 04/10/2005 19:59

Raspberry leaf tea - My MW says have one cup a week for the first week, two cups for the second week and three cups thereafter. Also, she said that the loose tea is better than bags or tablets.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 04/10/2005 20:03

A WEEK?????

NO chance!

Im gonna go for 1/2 a day i think!!! It doesnt say on the box - all it says is not to take before 35 weeks.

fastasleep · 04/10/2005 20:43

Hello... so very very tired, got home at about 6:30... (next bit copied and pasted from email to friend!)

After the no sleep etc lol we got back to the womens at about 4:30am... contractions were every five minutes, I wangled my way onto to the gasp posh Diana suite, and had no needles at all throughout the whole thing!!! Sophia was born at 10:37am weighing in at a dainty 6 pounds 6 ounces, we're still looking for that other 6 on her person so that we can proove she really is her brother's sister :D... she's very sleepy though after such a mammoth labour, and I've only managed to breastfeed her once so far, she's perfectly well though... and so so so tiny and soft as velvet seal skin brushed with fairy dust lol.... the contractions were absolute AGONY but I was incredibly brave if I do say so myself - I flopped over a beanbag and managed to sort of hoot like an owl in an attempt to breathe through them, then had gas and air for the delivery which did feel like shitting a melon!

I can't smell her though girls, which is terrible... damn this cold! Must run off and try to get her latched, she's so sleepy! She's so gorgeous, I'm so sore...no stitches and no tears though, good eh!!

Best of luck to everyone else and CONGRATS nervousmum, hopefully big CONGRATS to Marinda too?

Too tired for proper announcement... everyone enjoy those gorgeous sexy bumps for the last few days! xxx

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 04/10/2005 20:45

YAY!!!!!

Congrats hun..... so pleased..... she weighed the same as Jess did - tiny isnt she!!

Give her big cuddles from me, and you look after yourself.

Big hugs xxx
