Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

7lbs, ooh how exciting! Glad everything's good.. I've never had a little chubby baby... DS was long and stick thin, and still is... I wonder if this one will be cherubic..

I'm off to wake up DH or stick a sock in his gob while I watch House

Redtartanlass · 29/09/2005 22:01

Is everybodys' dh and dps' ill. If my dp tells me one more time how tired he is....well I will not be responsible for my actions

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 29/09/2005 22:14

7lbs?! Jeez... you lot like big babies!!!

Jess was only 6lb 6oz so im hopeing for another tiny tot.... not that Jess stayed that way- she is a right chunky monkey now!

mawbroon · 29/09/2005 22:46

RTL - my DH appears to have come down with a mancold. I made him a hot toddy with honey and lemon and he's away to bed, so we'll see what state he is in tomorrow.....I had a sniff of the whisky and it made me

I had a real panic earlier on today. My pants were a bit wet and I thought that my waters had broken I mentioned it to the consultant and he has taken swabs etc but thinks it is more likely that my bladder has been on the receiving end of a good kicking from my breechie and I have just leaked a bit. I have never leaked before . Just part of the delights I suppose..... I tell you what though, it made me pack my hospital bag double quick!!

I'm feeling a bit better now, sorry for my rant
I had a nice long bath and feel a bit more human. Plus going out shopping tomorrow with my mum (she's managed to get the day off) so will hopefully be nice and chilled out. Plus will have the weekend with DH (he's been on call this week so we can never plan anything) and we'll be putting up the cot. I keep consoling myself that Boo will be here soon and planning lots of things to do before they arrive. Never realised how fed up / emotional the last few weeks of pregnancy can be. (Nobody ever tells you that you'll wail like a banshee or cry because you cant finish a SuDuko puzzle!!)

Hope everybody is well.

Oh, and as for large babies, at the last scan, they estimated our bump at 8lbs and also on the 97th percentile for length and stomach circumference. Blimming heck!! Keep reassuring myself that its the "10% either way" rule.

Elf1981 · 29/09/2005 22:50

Mawbroon - I was told that if I thought my waters had broken, to sniff where ever the wetness was!! Luckily not had to do so yet, but eagerly awaiting to see if waters will break. Mum made me promise that if I go shopping with her, I wont break my waters in the middle of the shops!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 29/09/2005 22:54

wee smells
amniotic fluid doesnt

unfortunately - mine smells!

Redtartanlass · 29/09/2005 22:56

NM said that "I have posted a bit about the birth on the new stats thread too" but I've searched everywhere and can't find it. Has anyone else found it?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 29/09/2005 22:57

stats thread

Redtartanlass · 29/09/2005 22:59

Thanks sweetie, I was looking in post-natal!!

mawbroon · 29/09/2005 23:09

Elf - are you in the same boat as me if your waters break or you start having contractions? I've been told to get straight down the hospital and they will do an emergency section.

Elf1981 · 29/09/2005 23:13

They said that if I went into labour then they'd do an "emergency" section, but still under spinal / epidural depending on babies heartrate. If heartrate showed distress then I'd have to have a general.

mawbroon · 29/09/2005 23:36

Gosh Elf, I imagine that you would want to avoid a general. I know I want to be awake when my baby makes his appearance! Is a general quicker than an epidural perhaps? Oh gosh, I have to read up on all this stuff about sections - I don't really have much of a clue....

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 29/09/2005 23:45

A general is almost instant out coldness as far as im led to believe, where as a spinal/epidural can take up to 20 minutes to be effective..... HTH a little bit!!!

(having another insomniac night!)

Jockey · 30/09/2005 09:03

Hi - just to let you know I might go a bit quiet right now (but I haven't popped!) as dh is in hospital with pneumonia. Feel awful now as I thought he was making a right meal of things, as men typically do. In a way, at least the burden has been lifted - he's in safe hands - although keeps trying to discharge himself! Hopefully he'll be out soon - if not he can meet me in maternity!!

Moomin - you deserve a medal.

Look forward to catching up with you all properly xx

Elf1981 · 30/09/2005 09:34

Jockey - hope your DH gets better soon.

Moomin - chin up, not long left to go.

Mawbroon - both me & DH wish to avoid the option of general for a section as I'd be asleep and DH would not be allowed to be present. We've been told that this should only happen if I went into spontaneous labour and the babies heartrate indicated distress, as they dont like to wait for spinal / epidurals to take effect. If I were you, I'd try to get some more info from your hospital. I was given a great leaflet from them, explained how the sections are done, what pain relief is used, what happens afterwards, what recovery can be expected etc. I read a bit myself in "What to Expect When Expecting" but found the hospital leaflet very good. I could photocopy & post to you if you want (CAT me).

J&BM - sorry to hear you've had a sleepless night. Hope you manage to get to put your feet up for a bit today.

morningpaper · 30/09/2005 09:53

Jockey: BAD LUCK! You never know when DH's are REALLY ill because they moan so much anyway...

I had a friend who had a general for her c-section because the epidural and spinal didn't take properly. I think this is not a particularly uncommon course of events.

nervousmum · 30/09/2005 10:14

Morning all! As soon as he's put Joey down, i'll get DP to put a link up to a photo of my gorgeous boy.

I'm definitely a head sniffer - i could sit all day and just inhale his head. If only i could bottle it, i'd make a fortune! Oh, and don't even get me started on his gorgeous monster munch toes....

Re sections - my spinal only took 5 minutes from when they introduced it to me being fully numb and ready for surgery, but it depends on the skill of the anaesthetist doing it, and how well your body takes to it. I was just relieved to not have a general as it meant i got to see Joey as soon as he was born, but IMO so long as Boo and Mother are safe, everything else pales into insignificance.

nervousmum · 30/09/2005 10:31

Joey

Joey again!

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 30/09/2005 10:35

HE IS GORGEOUS!

Getting impatient again now but hey, ill cope!

Ever so tired this morning - DH has got dentist at 11.30 so hoping to keep Jess awake til about 11 and then i can rest and by the time he gets home she would just be waking up! Great planning!

YOKEFLEET · 30/09/2005 11:45

NM - he looks lovely!

Jockey - I hope your DH is better soon

Soon be October!! yippeee who will be next I wonder!!

triceratops · 30/09/2005 12:47

What a beautiful little boy NM. It has made me go all broody. Lucky I am already pregnant

I hope all ill dhs get better soon. There is nothing more annoying than being upstaged by a man cold (even if it is pneumonia).

I had dh whinging about not getting much sleep last night as I was sorting out ds who had been sick. I could have punched him in the nose for that one .

morningpaper · 30/09/2005 13:16

NM he is LOVELY! Makes me broody too. I can't believe I'm expecting an actual BABY.

Just eaten a whole pineapple for lunch after a conversation with dd who is 3 next week who said "In the morning of my birthday, I will look into the cot and my baby will be there" - panicking now that I've got a week to get it out!

carly82 · 30/09/2005 13:23

hi ladies!
i am currently on th TTC thread and was being nosy just wanted to say a huge congratulations to nervousmum, you have a gorgeous baby boy well done!!! and good luck to everyone due to pop soon xxx

nervousmum · 30/09/2005 13:46

Thanks everyone. Glad you all think He's as gorgeous as i do (though of course i am biased...!). Just got to get rid of interfering M-I-L (she's MUCH worse than i envisaged) on Sunday then we'll be sorted! Off for a nap now - when He sleeps, i should sleep, and all that.

I wonder which one of you will be next? With all this pineapple eating and stuff going on, i'll be surprised there's any babies left to actually be born in October

Take care, NM x
