lainey1981 · 26/11/2010 16:34

thanks fenouille & privet you have made me feel a bit better.
I definitely don't want to wait any longer than 41+3 to get started as worried he will be massive by then, plus have been in such pain with SPD for weeks just really want to not be pregnant anymore (selfish I know when he is clearly just comfy in there)

MW said they would start me off with pessary in for 24hrs but that as my cervix is changing so quickly it might work quicker than that then they would break my water - hopefully I won't have to have a drip as that sounds like the potentially nasty bit.

anyway as DP says I have 5 days til I have to worry about this.
he thinks I need to relax so is coming home to help me into the bath Blush, pour me a glass of wine and generally be lovely I think.
am also in a bit of an arsey mood as have been totally messed around by mamas and papas +DHL this week, they keep trying to deliver a parcel to me when I am in but not ringing my bell. Am I supposed to psychically know they are there? so Angry as have made sure am in on all 3 days, they have now returned it to service centre saying they can't deliver it again. i have spent a fortune trying to speak to someone all week, constantly being promised call backs etc but no one ever does. It is all their fault for splitting my original delivery. it's only a moses basket mattress FGS. I just want to cancel and pop into mothercare tomorrow and pick one up myself.

sorry self indulgent post - feel free to ignore

Mibby · 26/11/2010 17:06

lainey you have my sympathy, just had a similar nightmare delivery with tesco, gave up eventually and went to the store, with DH and a well wrapped up DD, to get the damn groceries myself. Useless idiots! Ditto for the promised call-backs, dont know why they say it cos they never actually ring

comtessa · 26/11/2010 18:13

Likewise Lainey I lose patience with idiot delivery people. Write stroppy letter to Mamas and Papas as well as DHL. Doesn't always have an effect but should make you feel better and they may try and offer you something like vouchers to make up for your inconvenience.

JFly · 26/11/2010 19:43

Funny story: DH told me that tonight a harmless loon came up to him and told DH he was a lucky man. When DH asked why the guy said "three life-changing things will happen on Monday."

Monday would be a good day. I'm at the hospital anyway for my last ante-natal appt with the consultant. I'm hoping the other two things are winning the lottery and a lifetime supply of Haribo.

4madboys · 26/11/2010 20:36

well still the same here, tho my cervix is now very thin? and further forward so all looking good for induction next week if i want it.

i am still all headachey and recovering from flu type bug, feel pretty pants tbh, so tho ihave been having some tightenings since the sweep this afternoon i would rather baby waited at least a day or two. she is very low tho and so i am not feeling very comfortable.

other than that all well, we still ahve snow, hoping there isnt anymore overnight as dp is planning on taking all four boys out to the kids club cinema in the morning so i get a break and if it snows load they wont go.

hope cervix's continue to ripen and we get some more babies soon!

Jenni363 · 26/11/2010 21:18

Hope that you are all doing well!

Just a quick note to say baby Freya Sylvia was born at 2.50 am on 22.11 weighing 3,581 gr and 51 cm tall.

I was due to be induced at St Georges hospital Sunday night, but as I was in more and more agony by lunch time we rang them to see if we can go in earlier, just to be told they were closed, I need to got to St Helier in Epsom - nothing else they can do. Needles to say I did rip off to the poor MF on the phone.

We got to St Helier about 2 pm and the staff were amazing! I was 3 cm dilated, they broke my waters and gave me G&A which did absolutely FA.. I asked and got an epidural which took the pain away (amazing feeling as been having contractions since wed lunch time..).

I was put on Syntocinon drip around 3-4 pm... didn't really do the trick and by 2 am I was still only 8 cm dilated.. Baby was getting v stressed,I was knackered... So she was finally born by emergency c section..

After 3 days in hospital we've now been at home for couple of days. It was a relief when it was finally over, it took a full week from when my contractions started to when we finally came home with Freya.. But it has been worth it - she is absolutely amazing!

Sorry it ended up being a very long post after all - don't really want to bore / scare my friends with all the details.. Hopefully you lot are more understanding... Grin

I will come back later to check who else has popped! Good luck to all new mums, and fingers crossed your time will come soon Smile

xx

umf · 26/11/2010 21:29

Congratulations Jenni! And respect! V glad all ended well - and yet another lovely name.

All best to everyone else - haven't got hang of typing on this phone yet, but finding thread v sanity supporting. Going rather grumpily to bed now.

comtessa · 26/11/2010 22:22

Congratulations Jenni! And welcome to the world, Freya.

(Hands 4madboys and Umf hot water bottles and mugs of cocoa - with extra rum)

Hoping I get somewhat more sleep tonight - unless LO actually decides to arrive instead of practising for the big day. DH took pity on me and bought me a can of ready mixed G&T, am tempted to have a little bit... medicinal purposes only, you understand. Wink

grinningbee · 27/11/2010 08:39

Congratulations Jenni!

I hope the rest of you still waiting haven't gone mad yet. I know that first time around I was at the tail end of the list (was due the 26th) and it was miserable. I ended up going to the 4th of the following month and was the second to last to pop!

Things here are not too bad. I'm not getting very much sleep at all, but Jack is a boob monster. Trouble is he is drinking so much that he keeps flooding his nappies. Cue mucho washing Grin

He likes to drop off properly at around 5am, which is when dd has decided she will wake up and cry for mummy. Bless.

Dh has just gone out to help someone move house. I don't know when he'll be back, so it's going to be interesting. I've just sat and had a cry which is stupid.

Funny to think that this time last week I was in the process of giving birth.

Good luck to those of you still waiting, and I'll pass around the industrial sized box of jammy doughnuts... GrinGrin

P.S Doesn't it look festive outside today Shock I'm so glad I did the weekly shop yesterday.

4madboys · 27/11/2010 09:47

morning all :)

congrats jenni, sorry you had sucha time of giving birth, glad she is worth it!

still the same here, have a very upset tummy and a bit more show etc, but no real contractions.

given that it is snowing here and the roads are chaos i think madame can wait a few days!

JFly · 27/11/2010 10:03

Urgh. Night of cx, only got to sleep at 4:30. Then woke up to a few more hours of cx. Bouncing on my ball for comfort now. Don't really know if this will turn into anything or not.

DH is supposed to go to the rugby today, but I've said I'm not really sure he should. I think he's still counting on going! Hmm It would probably only take 1/2 hour-45 minutes for him to get home, but I did point out that I'd have to deal with DS and cx without him. Not nice!

Anyhoo, may try to strike a deal and go to the pub to watch it instead. Not sure that's quite good enough!

comtessa · 27/11/2010 10:42

Morning all. JFly sounds like your LO is as indecisive as mine. Had strong but not excruciating cx between 4 and 7 minutes apart last night around 2am. Decided that I would call labour suite once they'd been going for an hour. Just over an hour after they started I managed to fall asleep. Mild discomfort since but certainly not labour.

Hope your DH makes the right decision JFLy.

4mad I think between us we'd have established labour symptoms. I keep getting the cx but no show or anything else. Want to go present to labour suite together and insist that together we are in labour? Grin

40wks today. (Tells bump firmly: And the 27th would be such a nice date for a birthday.)

umf · 27/11/2010 11:14

More period pain and intermittent ouches today... come ON little dawdler!!

Annoyed: thought PGP/SPD much better, walked places yesterday, now can barely stand. Grr. Turns out not better, just affecting new areas.

Babybean thanks for the induction reassurance, that's good to hear. Glad Evie doing well!

Ebb sorry to hear about Abbie's nappy rash. It's so upsetting to see those sore little botties! Hope the treatment is working now.

And thanks for all the hot choc and doughnuts, everyone! Sending you nice ripe cervix thoughts...

JFly · 27/11/2010 11:17

Unlikely, Comtessa. Just had a row because I finally asked him not to go and he said "why, what's wrong with you?" And, "you're not in labour." HmmAngry

So, now if he stays home I'm guilt tripped if I don't go into labour, or I'm a bit passive aggressive and tell him to go anyway. Honestly, I don't want him around if he's going to pout about it all day. Grrrr! What a fun Saturday for us all! I feel a serious case of the grumps coming on.

Jenni, congratulations! I can't believe George's was closed! Shock When does that ever happen?? A bit worrying as that's my other closest hospital. Will hope the fact that I'm VBAC and sort of under consultant care (ish) will trump others if it comes down to a crowded C&W. Yikes!

PrivetDancer · 27/11/2010 12:48

Morning everybody. Congratulations, jenni!! you certainly had the works, didn't you! Glad all ok in the end.

I'm really fed up today, not really about lack of baby I don't think, but knackered and got stinking cold and just can't be bothered to do anything.

The girl I mentioned yesterday who had pushed back induction to 43 weeks had her baby naturally last night at 42+2 so they do come out eventually :)
She got her homebirth too!

PrivetDancer · 27/11/2010 12:51

Oh and JFly, sounds v annoying. If I was you I'd probably go the passive aggressive route and then be in an absolutely foul mood by the time he got home. I am not recommending this though!

41 weeks today.

Could somebody enlighten this newbie MN'r what is this stats board and where can one find it?

MW just paid us a visit and she was very impressed with Freya and said she wishes all babies were like her (bet you she says that to everybody...). She didn't cry when blood sample was taken from her heel, and she had only lost 9gr's from her birth weight! Apparently I have very good milk. I am so proud of us as I'm a first time mum and totally clueless.. But she's such a happy baby and keeps giving us gummy smiles all the time! (yes, I am convinced of this!) Grin.

JFly what is your closest hospital? I would choose Helier over George anytime. The staff are amazing, so caring and attentive. They really take the time to look after you, and no question is stupid.
I was really distressed when we finally arrived there as I had no idea of where it is and we have no car so had to get a friend to drop us of. First thing the mw said in a very soothing voice was - don't worry, you're in good hands, we'll look after you, and you're not going back home without the baby... I started crying straight away, what a relief after being turned away from my "own hospital" when I was 42 weeks and in labour.

I also received plenty of help with bf from the mw's and they had special bf councellors who helped me out too. I felt really comfortable coming home and I knew I'd be just ok with it. Freya latches on well most of the time but sometimes she's faffing on too much to get on with it and I have to be really patient to get her on.

Looking for a baby to observe

Dear mums and mums-to-be,

I hope you are all well. I though I would drop a line here as it seems a relevant place to look for a baby..

I started a course in Psychoanalytic Infant Observational Studies this academic year at the Tavistock Clinic. As the name of the course suggests, the course offers the opportunity to learn about the emotional development and communication in the early years through weekly baby observations. This course is essential for a further training in child psychotherapy.

The observations take place in the participant parents' home, weekly, usually on the same day at the same time - from the baby's birth up to the baby's 2nd birthday.

The Tavistock offers a letter that explains what it is about, but the responsibility is mine to find a baby for myself I can observe. This is the reason why I am writing to you..

By any chance do you have anyone in your network of friends who is pregnant and due soon and would allow me to observe her baby? Someone who ideally lives in North or Central London, or not a long commute away from NW3.

If you have anyone in your mind, please let me know - I am happy to talk about the process in detail and I can forward more information about the course if needed.

Thank you so much in advance. Your help is greatly appreciated.

I wish you all the very best with your baby!
Judit

hmmSleep · 27/11/2010 18:05

Jenni363, there is a link to the stats on the first post of this thread. It's just a thread showing whose on the thread, when we're due etc. Smile.

hmmSleep · 27/11/2010 18:07

Here's the link to the post-natal thread again too for those that have popped!

lainey1981 · 27/11/2010 18:10

jenni the stats board is a place where we have recorded our EDDs etc, we are now updating with date of birth and weight etc. If you go to page 1 of this thread there is a link (sorry can't find it paste the link here)

hope everyone still waiting is either progressing or having an evening free of twinges.

I had another big show this morning and since about 4 have been having twinges about every 12 minutes - they aren't massively painful but definitely uncomfortable and seem to have a pattern - so who knows? for the first time in my life am wishing pain on myself just so I know for sure Grin
baby feels super low compared to yesterday when was 2/5 engaged, so much that walking up and down stairs is v painful.

I am just settling down with my hot water bottle ready for an evening of strictly and x factor ..... and hopefully a hospital vist (but not getting hopes up yet)

lainey1981 · 27/11/2010 18:16

oh and 40+6

pkugirl · 27/11/2010 18:57

Congratulations to all mums with babes and good luck to those with all the twinges and cx. Am v jealous....!

Now 41 weeks 1 day and, apart from a few v mild cx/bh/period pains in night (you'd think 3rd time round i'd be able to tell!!!), nothing - zip - zero:(

Been to walk length and breadth of trafford centre today and watched friends in a matinee of Scrooge but nothing seems to be budging this bundle. Am feeling a bit Christmassy at least:)

I know you don't really know me, but I wanted to run a name by you if that's ok, to see yr opinions pls?

Don't know if baby's a boy or girl, but if we're blue, was thinking of going maybe with Tom - though we have a family connection with the Scottish spelling Thom. Just can't decide if it's a good idea or if everyone would read it as 'th' instead of 't' as it's meant to be. Honest thoughts would be really appreciated.

Midwife coming round in am to do sweep and I told her I'd try and beat her to it, thinking there was no way I'd get this far - how stupid do I feel now?!

Have a good night all: cxs if you want them, colds getting better and babies giving you some sleep (delete as appropriate!).:)

Don't anyone worry about being last to pop - think I'm destined to be pg FOREVER!!!!!!

balijay · 27/11/2010 19:57

Hi everyone, baby Isabella Robyn born thur 27th at 23.24 following early induction. Weighed 6lb 15.5oz. Fab labour - only 1.5 hours despite my whinging about the synto drip. Back later with more when I can stop baby-gazing Grin

PrivetDancer · 27/11/2010 20:26

Wow - that's good to hear of another nice quick induction! Congrats balijay!!
Did they just break your waters? Presume in 1.5 hours they didn't bother with a drip!
