I find doughnuts are an excellent way to prompt one's memory, Sancerre. Enjoy mat leave!

umf · 22/11/2010 20:52

Mmmm, doughnuts! What a good idea! Hope you get a few more doughnut days, Sancerre. Tho not too many. I'm also due tomorrow.

sancerrre · 23/11/2010 12:15

Hmmm, due date today, dum dee dum, (drums fingers on table) Anything happening with you umf? This one obviously takes after his father and is in there doing his hair and going to turn up late.

comtessa · 23/11/2010 12:33

(Passes doughnuts between umf and Sancerre)
39+2, so can't complain yet really Blush, just very achy interspersed with hurty.
Anyone got snow yet? Really hope LO arrives pre-snow.

sancerrre · 23/11/2010 13:16

Oooohh, doughnuts much appreciated. I'd run out here! You're probably ahead of me, comtessa, if you've got achy and hurty, none of that here. Seems strange that I'm wanting the tiniest twinge to turn into something more painful.

lainey1981 · 23/11/2010 13:37

pass the donuts my way please!

40+2, thoroughly fed up of the squatter in my uterus, he is clearly going to have to be coaxed out -

I just hope the sweep at the hospital works tomorrow.

think I actually hope it's a man doing it (longer fingers) Blush

PrivetDancer · 23/11/2010 14:07

Lob me a doughnut please!

Not got a sweep booked until Saturday, hopefully won't get that far! although last night I thought things might be starting and got quite scared, was glad when it tailed off, so maybe the later the better!

40+3

umf · 23/11/2010 14:30

Also thought was starting last night, but calmed down when went to bed.

Ridiculous - only due date today, but have been expecting him daily for a week and a half cos DS1 was early.

Today doing squats and lunges (SPD miraculously disappeared) and bouncing on ball like tantruming toddler to try and get head engaged.

Keep thinking maybe I'm thinking the wrong things - scared of labour, don't really believe another baby coming... but that's bollocks, right? Women go into labour whatever mindgames they play, huh?

JFly · 23/11/2010 14:56

Umf, you sound like me. I just had a chat with my doula and told her I'm in total denial and terrified. Cue nervous laughter. But, she's really good at calming me down and has said, you know what to expect with a CS and if that's what happens, that what happens. And she was very supportive of the idea of going straight to CS should an instrumental intervention be proposed.

She also said if baby is back to back, there's not a lot you can do. So, as you say I think I just need to let it go and get my head around the fact that I will eventually have to give birth to this child!

4madboys · 23/11/2010 15:24

afternoon all :)

congrats on the new arrivals :)

nowt happening here, but i am actually grateful as have had a fluey type bug the past two days and feel like death warmed up, slightly better today, but so so achey and all i can take is paracetamol which does sod all.

midwife on fri for a sweep and then will go see consultant at hospital to decide when/if i am to be induced, went 14days over and more with the boys but i am not doing that this time, am too tired and dont want her getting huge like all the boys were!

good luck everybody!

umf · 23/11/2010 15:31

JFly thanks! Maybe I should call mine, actually!

Is your LO stubbornly b-to-b? DS1 was, or perhaps just went b-to-b in early labour.

Vix7 · 23/11/2010 15:34

JFly, why CS over instrumental? what are the advantages?
Just asking cos had to hv instrumental n CS as backup.

sending safe labour vibes to all those due/overdue!

comtessa · 23/11/2010 16:11

Ok, please can everyone tell me this is nothing and everything will be okay but realised short time ago that I haven't felt baby all day. Called labour suite who told me to come in for monitoring at 5.30pm - this is going to be a long 90 minutes. Just so worried.

PrivetDancer · 23/11/2010 16:15

Don't worry, comtessa, as soon as they strap you to the monitors the baby will go crazy :)

I did this in last pregnancy. You should definitely get checked but I'm sure all is fine and you've just not noticed the movements. My movements have definitely been a lot gentler recently.
Sit on the sofa and have a bit of a poke, see if you get poked back

Mibby · 23/11/2010 16:50

Comtessa you'll be fine, bet he/ shes just a bit squashed and is having a quiet day. Agree with PrivetDancer, Baby will wake up as soon as they get the monitor on (or possibly as soon as you get to hospital, thus making you feel daft :))

pyjamalover · 23/11/2010 17:52

Hope your baby wakes up soon comtessa.

I'm off for acupuncture this evening to try and bring it on! Am 40+4 now so don't feel bad about evicting the baby.

Had check up this morning and was hooked up to a monitor, had to press a button every time the baby moved, baby seemed to see this as a challenge and wriggled almost the whole time!

Hope you're all ok and enjoying the doughnuts.

JFly · 23/11/2010 18:30

Hope your monitoring goes well, Comtessa. I had that last time and was told to have a sugary drink/eat something to stimulate baby's movement. Also went in for good measure. DS started wriggling the minute I got to hospital, as I recall! It is reassuring to hear thumping heartbeat, nonetheless.

Good luck with acupuncture! I had a treatment with DS the day before I went into labour, so hope it works for you!

I'm seeing the oesteo tomorrow and have reflexology on Thursday. Although I need to wait until my doula's other November client has her baby! I really hope that we don't go into labour on the same day. Oh, that would be dire.

JFly · 23/11/2010 19:24

Another thing: someone on another thread linked to this about warm-up labour. Some of us might find it comforting??

umf · 23/11/2010 19:48

Good luck comtessa, hope woke up and kicked nicely. I almost went in yesterday late afternoon cos had been so quiet all day, but some serious poking did the trick eventually. Must be pretty cramped in there by now.

JFly loving that article! Especially as I had the same thing as her in first labour - no prelabour, really painful and ineffective contractions straightaway, due to poor foetal positioning.

PrivetDancer · 23/11/2010 21:53

Are you back yet, comtessa?

OP posts:
comtessa · 23/11/2010 22:39

Hello all, just got home (went out for Chinese post-hospital as we were there for more than two hours).
Thanks so much for your messages. Little one has good strong heartbeat, but movements were still a bit less than usual so have been booked in for emergency scan tomorrow just to double-check everything.

Interestingly enough, I've been saying to my MW all along "I'm huge, is this normal?". And she's been saying that it's fine as I'm 5ft8in and my husband's 6ft2in tall. However both the Dr and MW at hospital remarked on my size and fundus height of LO and also want to scan partly to check on the size of the baby. And presumably to consider whether any intervention might be needed. So not a wasted trip by any means.

Feeling so relieved and also interested to see what news tomorrow's scan will bring. Also, just read the article JFly linked to. Thanks for that, very reassuring.

Goodnight all, and thanks again. Smile

Mibby · 23/11/2010 22:57

Glad its all ok comtessa, let us know how tomorrow goes

sancerrre · 23/11/2010 22:59

Yay, glad the LO is all right. Hope the scan goes well tomorrow.

umf · 24/11/2010 08:55

Phew, glad all ok comtessa. Worried about you during one of my night wakings.

lainey1981 · 24/11/2010 09:32

So glad all is ok comtessa good luck with the scan today - keep us posted Smile

I'm just ploughing through my bowl of hot weetabix (is it too late to have cravings?) can't get enough of the stuff. then off to the hospital for a sweep.
DP offered to come with me, but have sent him to work, don't think he's keen on the idea of a big strapping man doing the sweep Grin

hopefully I shall report later that it has been a total success and within seconds of said sweep being performed my waters broke and baby popped out [hmm

hope everyone else ok today
