Tictac.... welcome home and how fabulous to see tiny tictac!! I've been feeling emotional all day but that has just about finished me off..

ixel · 17/09/2005 11:18

That picture is lovely!!! Am very jealous! My 12 wk hospital scan was good, but the printout was rubbish, so I'm hoping for a better one for the 20wk scan on 26th.
Since I finally felt movement the other day, there hasn't been any since. Opinions please? Do you think this is ok? I cant remember if it was constant right from he start or not with ds.
Frizbe... do a quick search for threads re the buggy; there must be a mumsnetter with one close to you! You can see how much I like it, cant you??!

womba1 · 17/09/2005 11:25

Morning All...i've only come on here for a whinge i'm afraid!!
My ds decided to wake up this morning at 3.30am because he heard his daddy up, who is having trouble sleeping because he is sooooooooooo stressed about his shitty job.
Anyway, dh went off to work at 5.30am saying he had pains in his stomach and felt queasy. At 6.40, dh rang to say he'd been violently sick twice and was going to come home. The thing is, i have a severe phobia about all aspects of vomiting and i'm in a real state! Dh has gone up to bed and my nerves are in tatters... everytime i hear the floorboard squeak, the bed creak or dh cough, i'm sticking my fingers in my ears and turning the volume up on the tele. This must sound really daft to you all but i honestly can't handle this. I don't feel up to going out, as ds is being crabby as he's tired and i feel like death... plus my old c-section scar is really pulling and it's uncomfortable to walk.
Sorry for moaning and in the scheme of things it's no big deal but i'm sitting here in tears.
Some weekend this is turning out to be... all i want to do is escape or sleep and i can't do either.
Hope you're all doing ok??
Love Womba x

spacecadet · 17/09/2005 12:19

womba, you are not being silly, i go pale when one of my dc's gets a sickness bug, i cant bear the the thought of getting it myself and its perfectly normal to have a phobia of sick, bet your poor dh feels rubbish though!, hope he gets better soon

womba1 · 17/09/2005 12:25

Thanks Spacecadet... my poor dh even offered to stay in a b&b tonight because he knows how bad i am with sick, bless him!
On the plus side, hubby hasn't been ill since he got home and is fast asleep upstairs and ds is sprawled out on the sofa, snoring his little head off! Like father like son...

spacecadet · 17/09/2005 13:00

aww bless him! i had a sicknerss bug a few weeks back and it was horrible so i sympathise with your dh, but i think its always horid for the well person, possibly clearing up and wondering if you will get it, dh went mad spraying everything with anti-bacterial spray when i was ill!

flamesparrow · 17/09/2005 13:07

Oh honey - I'm lucky in as far as my phobia is only of me being sick, but I know how debilitating that is, so it must be ten fold when it is a fear of someone else too.

If you have one of those dettol aerosol sprays, then keep it handy and spray everything possible in the hopes that it doesn't get passed round the household. Tea tree oil works well to kill germs too - I tend to flick a bottle of it over our bed etc to kill off nasties lurking in the mattress... no idea if it works, but it makes me feel better, and makes the room smell more fresh.

Sending huge hugs, as there isn't much more I can do

spacecadet · 17/09/2005 13:12

that dettol stuff is great, you can spray it on hard surfaces too.

Frizbe · 17/09/2005 13:16

Never thought about doing that with teatree oil before!
Womba, hope your dh feels better soon, and you can enjoy at least a bit of your weekend {{{Hugs}}}
Ixel, your definatley sold on that buggy aren't you I shall make sure I get a good look at one!

Tabs · 17/09/2005 18:50

Womba - hope your DH is feeling better.

Ixel - wouldn't worry about movements. I had at least 2 weeks of on off movements before they started being regular enough to be able to expect them every day.

Well ladies, I seem to be having a productive weekend. Trekked off to Mothercare in Bedford last night as they had some furniture on display that we wanted to look at. Sadly it wasn't very well put together, so put us off buying it, but I did manage to get some maternity clothes whilst I was there. Got 2 pairs of jeans, 1 denim skirt and a pair of dungarees (had to be done).

One of the pairs of jeans was only £10 in the sale, but they're a bit big. Wore them today and they kept falling down, so better not wear them out again until bump gets bigger .

Oops - forgot to finish my post before posting!

Meant to go on to say that this morning I went to another store (Bush Babes in Ware for the benefit of those who are local) to look at nursery furniture as I heard that they had a sale on and that they had one of the ranges in stock that I wanted to look at.

Anyway, think we've found the furniture that we're going to get. Have spent the afternoon measuring up, and thankfully we seem to be able to fit the cotbed, a dresser and the wardrobe in (room isn't v big). If anyone wants a nose then have a look here

womba1 · 17/09/2005 19:06

Thank you for all your sweet messages today, from me and dh.... he is feeling much better and is begging me to cook him egg and chips. I've said he can have dried toast and thats his lot!!
I can't believe i still get so het up about the whole vomiting thing though. i know no-one likes being sick but i get completely irrational and freak out. I once walked 4 miles across deserted woodland at 3am, after leaving a nightclub, because a man on the night bus was drunk and heaving.. and there was the slightest possibility he may have hurled!! Ridiculous or what??
But anyway, dh is feeling better, ds is fast asleep and i'm feeling much more calm and relaxed, and am just about to run a nice deep bubbly bath.
Hope you're all having a nice weekend so far and thanks again. It's great to know that all you fellow mums with tums don't think i'm completely mad!! x

popmum · 18/09/2005 10:42

Hi Tabs
I am near ware! and got all my stuff for DD1 there - great shop. They will price match too - so if the price on line is cheaper, print off the page and take it in and they will do it for the same price. If you get a pram there you get all sorts of discounts as well. Furniture looks lovely. We must get sorted out soonish, we need to have some work done on the room and then I feel like it is going to be xmas and then there will be not much time left!
I felt a kick on the outside of my tummy this morning for the 1st time, very exciting!

ixel · 18/09/2005 11:02

Womba... must be something in the air... dh phoned me from work about an hr ago complaining about tummy ache and then put the phone down sharpish to run to the loo!!
Am a little bit envious of you lot talking about buying stuff. We have virtually all we need, kept from last time. But I'm itching to buy a few things for this one! Oh well, at least we're not spending money we dont have. Dh has had no overtime since the bombings, so we're skint!
This is a dodgy question to ask, incase you all ruin my dreams, but what do you think of these boys names...? Our shortlist is Bram, Clay, Ash, Lander. Or are there any similar things that I haven't thought of?

Frizbe · 18/09/2005 11:23

I like Bram! I know a Clay and an Ash (in fact two Ash's!) Lander is fairly unusual, although a bit Star Wars..... so out of the 4 my vote is for Bram, although I'm not much use really, as I can't think of any boys names at the mo!

Tabs like the furniture, our poor little un will be getting dd's hand me downs, bar a new matress! dd on the otherhand, got her new bed the other week and will be getting furniture for her new room soon!

JuA · 18/09/2005 12:08

Wow - you guys can chat.
I have only been away for 2 weeks - it has taken me ages to read through!!!! We have had a lovely holiday - the weather was really nice - even got to sit on the beach on a couple of days - which isn't bad for Ireland in September! I can't believe how cold it is today!! and wet and I have got loads of washing to do.
I am so pleased that everyones test results have worked out OK - it must have been a really stressful time.
I have my scan on Friday - and we are going to find out the flavour - my gut feeling is girls - but that means nothing as I was convinced that dd was going to be a boy!!
Normal clothes are a thing of the past for me! I have got all my maternity clothes out and have been contemplating going shopping for some more - I like a couple of things in the Jo-Jo-Maman Bebe catalogue so I might just order on line.
Tic Tac - glad you had a good break - do you want to meet up for coffee again soon?

Jackstini · 18/09/2005 12:26

Amanda1 - thanks for your message on other thread - so pleased to hear your great results and hope you are having a relaxing weekend.
I like Claudia as a name - if you like it go for it! Just think of it as being 'too good' for stupid ex dp to appreciate last time.
If he is that bothered about proof I have no doubt your expanding belly will be seen by mutual aquaintances soon enough!

womba, pleased to hear your dh is better, lol at him wanting egg and chips though.

ixel · 18/09/2005 19:07

Frizbe.... Bram is my running fave at the moment. Thank you!!!

Tabs · 18/09/2005 20:11

Evening ladies.

JuA - glad to hear that you had a great holiday. I'd love one, but have been too nervous to go away (last baby died whilst we were abroad), and we won't really get a chance now. Do have a week off shortly though, so change is as good as a rest and all that!

Ixel - I prefer Ash and Clay. Would Ash be Ashleigh but called Ash for short, or just Ash full stop? Can't say that I've heard of Lander before, so might take me a bit of getting used to. Now you'll prob hate me for this, but I'm a bit unsure about Bram. The only time I've heard of it is as in Bram Stokers Dracula, so I might be worried that he'd be teased for being a vampire!! You should go for what you really like though - I always say that whilst it's nice if other people like a name, stuff 'em if they don't!!

Well I took DH to see the furniture 'in the flesh' today, and he still likes it, so looks like it's a definite now. Just need to decide when to order, as don't know if I want it to arrive before Christmas or after. Decisions, decisions!

TicTac · 18/09/2005 22:13

Hi all, sorry ladies but I am feeling very sorry for myself today, I am really tired and totally full of a cold

Also, my mum thinks my baby scan picture makes my baby look like Gizmo and then after a couple of days she said she had had a look and she thinks it's a really fat baby....HELP!! I didn't think it would upset me but it has tonight!

Ixel - My nephew is call Ashleigh (Ash for short) but he got teased a lot and called Ashtray!!

Tabs - Can you and DH not escape to a gorgeous UK hotel for a night or 2 to have some "away" time? We are not going to get the chance too much when our little bubs come along.

Jua - Yeah that would be nice. We can arrange something and I can go over the Chorley way this time if you like?

spacecadet · 18/09/2005 22:15

tic tac at your mum.

Good luck Amanda1! if your bumps showing that much, then unless its a very big and baggy shirt you'll probably be outing yourself

Tictac, try not to worry about what your mum said, you can't possibly have a fat baby at 20 or so weeks.....its not even started building up supplies properly yet......

Hope you all have a good fun day today, I'm avoiding work so far, by taking the cat to the Vet in a bit! oh and waffling on here of course!! better get summat done soon tho...
