Morning girls,

Decorated the nursery this weekend with friends and I am soooo pleased with it - I keep just going in there and admiring all the cuteness. DH will be so proud of me when he gets home tonight from being away this weekend. My friend also felt the little one move this weekend as he always seems to go quiet when she puts her hand on my tum so she was very excited!

I have been wondering about cloth nappies too but have resigned myself to the fact that I am too lazy to keep up with all the washing etc etc, I find it a struggle at the mo! So I have been buying nappies every time I go shopping to try and keep down the initial cost once the little one is born.

flamebat · 17/10/2005 08:53

To be fair... I didn't switch to cloth til DD was 6 months, so I was settled into mummyness by then - I'm very impressed by first time mums who start off with cloth!

Bewitched · 17/10/2005 09:35

Don't be impressed Flamebat - it's only ignorance about what's involved in looking after a baby that's leading me to try straight away

Chloe - now that you know how to do pics I reckon you should take a photo of your nursery and stick it in member profiles, then we can all share your pride!

Well the good news from me is that I did my first home urine test for glucose this morning (hoping I did it right as she didn't give me the instruction leaflet!) and it was negative - hurrah!

TicTac and 3k - I guess we need to sort out when and where we're going to meet up on Sunday. Don't want to mail you TicTac after you mentioned about folks getting sacked at your place for personal e-mails, but if you can use it ok then drop me a line. Do you have 3ks e-mail already, or shall I CAT her?

teuch · 17/10/2005 09:52

hi folks, been away for a while as had a week off which was great - pity I had such insomnia last night and can't take full advantage of my 'refreshed' feeling at work today!

wee teuch is not so wee anymore as I am measuring big for dates, plus started on the leaky boobs (just during the night tho...so far!). I had also been having lots of tight sensations across the tum and realised they were probably braxton hicks...

since then I have been getting them loads...and some more uncomfortable than others. Going to speak to mw just to see that it is normal. I have had a couple of cramp attacks as well (sort of from back passage round to front) which have doubled me over, although I think that was from constipation

it is not glamorous this pg lark is it!!

3k · 17/10/2005 10:51

Hi Tabs and TicTac,

Think one of you tried to CAT me a while ago, I never received the mail but my e-mail address is [email protected] so feel free to e-mail me.

I thought we could meet at the Pregnacare Juice Bar for a drink and chat. What do you think?

I'm so looking forward to Sun, need to book car parking actually - best do that today!!

Going back to the cloth v's disposable nappy chat, I won those nappies from Pregnacy and Birth mag and they are really cute. Only won 5 though but the thought of soaking the poo off in a bucket makes me feel a bit sick! I too have been buying pampers at ASDA on next size up now (11lbs to 20lbs) and if you buy a box of 108 they are only 9p each or £10.46 for the box. I thought that was quite good so trying to stock up at the moment to cut costs whilst on mat leave. Might still try reusables but must admit they seem more work.

3k · 17/10/2005 10:53

Yay teuch, I'm glad someone else can share my leaky boobs I've been leaking a lot since 17 weeks. If I dont wear a bra I get lovely drops of milky stuff running down my boobs!! DH thinks its hilarious!! I have invested in lots of breast pads to keep me comfy!!!

TicTac · 17/10/2005 10:53

Bewitched, I don't have 3k email address. I think you have my home email address anyway (yahoo?) if not, CAT me too..nothing to do with work then.

I have had the worst morning ever!! We live in a Morris built house and have had loads of issues with customer service, nothing to do with the house just some outstanding works. Anyway, the contractors are forever coming to the house unannounced, not booking themselves in etc and since we are not here, we go to the bottom of the pile..or for outside work, we come home and find half a job and a load of mess! Anyway, same thing happened Friday night, came home to half a job again...unannounced!! So left a stern message on the CS answer phone. The manager called me back this morning and opened with "I don't know why you are complaining, they have not been to the house!!" I then screamed at her..how dare she, I am looking at a row of 1ft plants that where not there when I went out to work on Friday but where there by the time I got home etc...

In the meantime a bloke pulls outside the houseand disappears, as it is a gardening van, I have assumed it is from the people meant to our house! Chap was nowhere to be seen and then I noticed that he was next door so I shouted over for him to move his van off our drive...next door then started to shout at me asking me why I was being so arsy!!!! Part of the drive to our house is shared drive with next door and it is clear in our deeds that next door our never to block the drive etc. We are lucky and have parking for about 8 cars on private drive but next door only have enough room for their 2 cars so we often have to ask them to move. So to start to just use our drive without asking or even appologising when he realised he was in the wrong has really annoyed me....
they don't know I am pregnant but what if I needed to get out of the hosue to hospital in an emergency....am I to ask permission to use my own fuc* driveway?!?!?!

So sorry for rant but am just furious!!

3k · 17/10/2005 12:03

Parking all booked now!! TicTac - did you see my e-mail address below???

Sorry to hear you are having a sh*t day, hope it improves soon x

Frizbe · 17/10/2005 12:04

Tic tac, have a cup of tea with me hon, and take a deep breath....I can fully sympthasie with you re houses, ours is built by Wheldon, and never again, let me tell you, but that's a whole other long story....good job my dads a builder I tell you.......
3k you just made me lol, re the poo, got me thinking back to dd's current potty training and often the state of her knickers.....the things us mums have to do eh!

Teuch, all of your aches and pains sound normal to me, I get same! nice eh.....

Bewitched Hurrah, no glucose and thanks for the hip info, fingers are very crossed, but it does run in the family, my Gran, my mum, me, dd......still better than some of the other horrible things we could have right!

Flame, lol re the off button and thanks for the thoughts

Chloe, don't you go over doing it now! but I can fully understand that you a) wanted to do it and b) if we wait for the men, things never get done!

TicTac · 17/10/2005 12:09

3K - saw the email but it has bounced back. Try me on [email protected]

Thanks Frizbe...I might par-take in that cup of tea!

Chloe - did you put the cot up? how does it look? Ours isn't here yet

Chloe55 · 17/10/2005 12:14

Sounds like you are having a nightmare TicTac - hope things improve for you.

Our cot hasn't arrived yet but I will let you know as soon as it does.

Frizbe you sound like my mum but if I'd left the nursery to DH it would look a right mess, he's not the best at DIY. I had to laugh though because a couple of the girls helped me and we had to drill holes in the wall to put up the curtain rail and I had a wobbly step ladder as support. The girls refused to use the drill in case they messed up so I had one of them holding the ladder and the other supporting me, with me, drill in both hands, nervously drilling holes! We must have looked a right sight and I was so ashamed at how girly we were about it!

Frizbe · 17/10/2005 12:17

Argh! noooooo don't say that chloe well I guess I am someones mum...... was just thinking that cause of dh having a go at me, for painting the kitchen last week, but if I didn't do it, who would? the cat?? (don't picture that one)

Bewitched · 17/10/2005 12:25

teuch - did you get up to anything exciting in your week off then?

3K - I got a delivery failure when trying to mail you too - says that you don't have a yahoo account!

TicTac - deep breaths and count to 10!

All this talk of new houses makes me want to share how shocked I was yesterday afternoon. We decided to call in and look at the showhome that has just opened for a cluster of new houses in the village down the road. Thought we could pretend that in-laws, who were with us, were interested. Looked at house which is 2/3 bed. 2 bed upstairs, but another room downstairs that could be used as either bedroom or good sized study. There was a shower room next to it too, so they are trying to market it as a 3 bed. I estimated that it would cost £375k, which I still think is tonnes for a 2/3 bed semi (technically end of terrace, but only a terrace of 3!). Got the brochure afterwards, and they haven't released the price of the showhome yet, but it's bigger than many of the others in the cluster that are selling for up to £500k!!!!! Think DH is finally convinced that our house is worth about what I have been estimating, rather than the lower figure that he thought!

teuch · 17/10/2005 13:39

ah Tabs...I am afraid you might as well be talking monopoly money there...I live in Scotland where houses just don't cost that much (well, unless they are in edinburgh or huuuuge!!) Sell your house, move to scotland and you will have all that money in the bank!! Come and keep me company on my wee island...

Visited said island on week off and got great weather. was (discreetly) measuring up the house (DH parents in it just now - farmhouse that comes with farm) but is soooo difficult as they are really old fashioned and keep telling that the carpets will last another 20yrs at least...

Bewitched · 17/10/2005 14:07

Hmmm - wonder how much a private jet would cost so that DH could afford to get to work (Dublin currently, but anywhere in world generally!). If I could get one of those thrown in then perhaps I'd take your offer seriously

Frizbe · 17/10/2005 14:45

oooh Teuch, sounds lovely, if we weren't bound by ss, I'm sure we'd have moved elsewhere by now! as it is, we try to keep within an hour of him, so scotland is out of the question....

flamebat · 17/10/2005 14:50

Just a quicky cos I'm at my friend's - I'll try and reply to everyone properly later.

at Babyshow still.

3k - which make were the nappies you won?

And I'm also a little at proper leaking ladies.. I have gunk... it is itchy and smells like manky old breastmilk. Kinda feel like if they properly leaked then it would be slightly cleaner feeling!!!

3k · 17/10/2005 15:05

Hi Flame,

The nappies I won are One Life - www.onelifeworld.com They are little terry nappies but already folded etc, really cute and all soft.

I have a very inflamed red belly button that is itching a lot, also have blotches on my belly. Any ideas? Got to get DH some clariten on way home as he is allergic to mosquito bites and got bitten in the garden yesterday so will ask pharmacist.

Frizbe · 17/10/2005 15:07

3k, I'd ring midwife to check the blotches asap?

3k · 17/10/2005 15:13

It's not very noticable, just looks like a little faint rash under the skin. It could be just wear my skin is stretching very tight. Will see what pharmacist says.

Chloe55 · 17/10/2005 15:18

I haven't stated leaking anything booby wise yet - not that I particularly want to but feeling a little left out

3k · 17/10/2005 15:24

You wouldnt want to Chloe, it's horrible!! When I put my PJ's on I get wet marks coming through!! YUK! Mind you I suppose it is a good sign that things are working well.

Off home shortly, will catch up with you girls tomorrow

TicTac · 17/10/2005 15:36

Chloe - I'm not leaking anything from anywhere yet either although from what the ladies have all said...it is a symptom I am happy to pass on!!!

just got back from MW...all ok, checked the usual and despite my outrageous morning BP was not up....thought it would be through the roof!!

TicTac · 17/10/2005 16:19

Oh...NCT class starts tonight!
Have perked up a lot....kind of got over my horrid morning

Chloe55 · 17/10/2005 16:31
