well my scan was all good. Did find out the sex, but gonna keep it to myself for now - sorry girls! Don't yet know if we are going to be telling anyone in real life so would seem a bit weird telling you guys!

Baby baths, Tabs - we had one and for the sake of how much they cost i think it is worth it for the first few weeks. If you get a moses basket or carry cot stand it can go in that whilst you bath baby, or in bath when he/she is a bit bigger. Or do as my friend does and just get in bath with baby and hold them (though am not sure how you get out with baby.....!). I'd say just get a cheap one. Ours ended up chilling beers at a party once so they have other uses!

flamebat · 27/09/2005 16:15

My friend showed me a little inflatable baby bath she's got - tis great - light and easy to use/fill

Chloe55 · 27/09/2005 16:16

Ooh you little tease Popmum! I wish I had your patience though. I planned to not tell anyone and then burst it out within 5 mins of leaving the hospital!!

flamebat · 27/09/2005 16:16

like this

TicTac · 27/09/2005 16:25

Tabs - We are getting a baby bath (will use on moses basket stand) but if you are not keen then there is always the kitchen sink! Loads of room for a new born!

TicTac · 27/09/2005 16:26

So have people been shopping for baby stuff now then?

flamebat · 27/09/2005 16:26

Nope, not a thing here.

Oooh, I tell a lie - buying a sling off a mate on Thursday.

Chloe55 · 27/09/2005 16:28

My mum and MIL have been spend spend spend! I have told them not to until I was 20 weeks so God knows how much they will go overboard now!! It's mums first grandchild though so she is gettting a bit carried away. I like that inflatable baby bath.

Tabs · 27/09/2005 16:29

Wow - not seen an inflatable bath before! I guess the only disadvantage to this would be having to use it on the floor, as a moses stand wouldn't work with it.

Has anyone got/knows anyone who's got the bucket style baths, like this , and if so, what do you/they think?

Popmum - like the idea of putting beer in the bath afterwards! Roughly what age do these baths last up to? I know the inflatable and the bucket ones say about 6 months, and the tall one with the changer says a year (though I thought it looked a bit small for a 1 year old) but what about the standard plastic ones?

Tabs · 27/09/2005 16:31

Popmum - you know you want to tell us really - go on, go on, go on, go on, go on (said a la Mrs Doyle) .

I've not actually bought anything yet - saving it for the babyshow next month, but trying to pick stuff so that I know what I want and can look for bargain prices, rather than being blinded with unresearched choice!

Same friend (with inflatable) has the bucket one, she seemed to like it... not too sure about it myself.

I used one of the plastic shaped bath thingies in a normal bath (like this , but not good if your bath is deep

TicTac · 27/09/2005 16:32

Tabs - B&Q sell orange buckets for 97p! Not keen on the idea of plopping baby in a bucket....although very funny!!

Frizbe · 27/09/2005 16:39

Tabs, I have an associate (!) who has a tummy tub, reckons its great! have to say they do look a bit odd to me tho.....sure I've said this before but we had a bath and cause I couldn't bath dd, it was no use what so ever!! good job we'd borrowed it! when dd was able to be bathed, very briefly and quickly from 3mths onwards, we did her on a baby shaped sponge in the normal bath.
Lol at the toothpaste boobs you could make some money out of that!
Oh & Congrats on the boy Chloe!

Frizbe · 27/09/2005 16:39

Oh also congrats on the scan too Hotmama!

JuA · 27/09/2005 16:47

We had a baby bath for dd - we used it for about 3 months I think - we used it on the floor in the bathroom. It was a pain to fill up. I think you can get them that sit on top of the bath and so you don't have to lift a full baby bath or use jugs of water. After that we just used the normal bath and put an inch of water in the bottom and laid her down so she could kick - she loved it. I don't know what we will do this time - probably just dunk them in the bath whilst dd is in there!!

TicTac · 27/09/2005 16:53

Just worked out finances and maternity pay.....gulp.

I think I am going to start mat leave on the 8th Jan but actually leave the office on the 16th Dec on annual leave! That way I get paid until 12th June....just 1 month before my redundancy!!

Tabs · 27/09/2005 17:05

Frizbe - why couldn't you bath DD?

JuA - the ones that fit over the bath unfortunately won't work for us, as they are designed for 'standard' baths, which ours certainly aren't!

Part of me likes the idea of the tummy tub because baby is immersed in water up to shoulders, which is how I like my baths (hence Japanese soaking tub)!

TicTac - 97p eh? Sounds like a bargain! Maybe you should consider it if finances will be tight during ML .

forgot to tell you all that i found out the flavour on friday.

Tabs · 27/09/2005 18:35

The only reason I didn't ask was because you said that your hospital wouldn't tell you! So what was it?????

OP posts:
spacecadet · 27/09/2005 18:59

Always thought I was a fairly good judge of character, but obviously not, as I hadn't put spacecadet down as a cruel, sadistic woman!
