I haven't stopped being sick yet today and still have an hour train journey home :( obviously I wish none of us felt like this but its reassuring to know I'm not on my own :)

mrshedgie · 04/10/2010 17:18

HI and welcome evie2000!

I still haven't been hit with the morning sickness, and no doubt I'll be anxious until it does hit...I'm still more tired than usual.

CuppaTeaJanice · 04/10/2010 18:26

Welcome to Evie2000!

I can't really give any advice on BF either - DS went on nursing strike at 9 weeks, really hated it, screamed whenever I tried to feed him! I mix fed to 4 months before going to FF. I'm hoping for a better experience this time!! Good luck with whatever you decide to do - I'm sure it will work out in the end.

Barbie yes I have started thinking about names, mainly because I don't love any boys names so need 9 months to find a good 'un! I inadvertantly started a really long name thread here - I wasn't expecting quite so many suggestions! Girls names are easy, there are loads of beautiful girls names around.

No sickness yet, but my gag reflex seems to have increased. I find it really difficult to clean my teeth without barfing, and swallowing my folic acid tablets is pretty tricky, even though they're tiny! I hope everybody else is coping with the sickyness - so difficult when you're at work or on public transport and can't tell people why you're feeling fragile. I'm sure some of them assume you're hungover or have some nasty lurgy!!

petitech · 04/10/2010 19:25

Happy Monday everyone... I DARENT think of names yet... although keep finding myself day-dreaming generally :)
I haven't really been sick at all yet, not sure if that's a bad or a good thing?! Sorry to hear about others not feeling so great. I still feel bloated and now have a niggly headache as have cut out caffeine, ouch!

GoodVibrations · 04/10/2010 20:17

Congratulations evie2000!

Janice your name thread is hilarious!! I have to admit to really struggling with boys names aswell. We had lots of girls names on the shortlist for DD but not a single boys name. DH decided that only a star wars name would do. I was ok with Luke but drew the line at Chewbacca!

I'm not feeling very sick (sorry to those that are!) but I am sooooooo tired. Doesn't help that DD woke at 5am.

I was on holiday today, which was perfect timing with the weather. Took DD to the airport and we sat in the sunshine having a picnic and watching the planes. Was lovely :)

I'm going to have to go to sleep, 8.15pm that's quite rubbish really Blush

melltobe · 05/10/2010 06:29

Hi all, I'm starting to feel a bit worried about still not 'feeling' pregnant. Apart from tender boobs I still don't have any symptoms. Is there anyone else in the same position? Do you think I should be worried or am I being silly? Confused

misshoohaa · 05/10/2010 08:10

Hi all,
Found out a few days ago that I am due my first beautiful baby in June 2011!
So unbelievably excited, scared, paranoid, shocked at the same time, my head is buzzing!
Working out my dates I am 5 weeks (actually only concieved 3 weeks ago but apparently that makes me 5 in pregnancy world?)
most dominate feeling right now is fear of an MC or getting to that 12 week scan and the news not bring good. Trying very hard to be positive but really struggling to push down the concerns!
My symptoms are pretty mild at the moment, a bit off my food and can smell everything but other than that feeling OK!
Off to the GP tomorrow so will hopefully get some more info then! So pleased I found this thread!
sorry for typos on iPhone! X

Igglybuff · 05/10/2010 08:38

Welcome miss! yes the extra 2 weeks of pregnancy is because they count from last period. No idea why!

mell I don't feel pregnant either. I'm trying not to worry as I know every pregnancy is different. It's normal to worry - withDS I never relaxed until he arrived! Take things a day at a time and don't google too much :)

CuppaTeaJanice · 05/10/2010 09:08

Welcome and congratulations misshoohaa!!

meltobe I don't think lack of symptoms is necessarily something to worry about. Women are all different and early pregnancy symptoms cover the whole spectrum from faint niggles to feeling absolute cack all day. It's early days so you have plenty of time to catch up in the vomiting stakes!!

misshoohaa please try to not let worry about MC spoil your enjoyment of your pregnancy. I think everybody hears the stats '1 in 3' and panics, but in reality the figures are skewed by certain medical conditions, like my poor friend who has a condition where the cells in her womb reject the embryo, lifestyle factors like heavy drinking and drug abuse, and social factors such as DV, first cousin marriages etc. Of course there are still women who sadly have chance miscarriages, as several people on this thread know only too well, but for most women the chances of having a successful and healthy pregnancy are much higher than the statistics would lead you to believe.

I had a bit of a panic last night when the chicken burgers I had cooked for tea turned out to be a bit underdone in the middle Blush. I had visions of food poisoning, salmonella etc., but it's been 14 hours now so hopefully they were ok (touch wood!).

melltobe · 05/10/2010 09:57

Welcome misshoohaa and congratulations!

Phew igglybuff that makes me feel much better. And of course I've been going google mad, so I'm going to take your advice and stop now!

Thank you CuppaTeaJanice, I'll let you know as soon as the vomiting kicks in :)

misshoohaa · 05/10/2010 09:58

Thanks Janice, your reasonable approach has made me feel better, I just need to try and adopt the same attitude! Bring on week 12 hey!

Totallyfloaty35 · 05/10/2010 10:56

Morning all, welcome misshoohaa.
Melltobe, all pregnancys are different,in my last one i didnt have any symptoms apart from tender boobs up until i was 8wks(when morning sickness kicked in) my very lucky friend had no sickness at all and i was so envious of her.

TumTumGnu · 05/10/2010 14:26

Hello everyone!

I got my BFP last week so am coming to join the june crew Smile

I am far too excited! It is shockingly difficult not to run around and tell everyone but me and dp have decided to keep the number of people who know down to mums and best friend until the 12 week scan. Though if my boobs keep expanding at the rate they are at the moment it is going to be pretty hard to hide.

I'm not really getting sickness but my sleep patterns have gone to pot, I've always been a big sleeper but over the past week I have barely slept at all. Keep having to get up in the night to eat toast and drink camomile tea. I really, really would like to be able to sleep through the night again Hmm

sasamaxx · 05/10/2010 14:30

Welcome evie2000 and misshoohaa and congratulations Smile

I'm another one that is really really tired already - DH thinks I'm imagining it but from about 3pm until evening, I am struggling to keep my eyes open - zzzzzzzzzz

I can understand people being nervous about no symptoms at this stage, but some people are just lucky and sail through pregnancy feeling great. I think we all want week 12 to hurry up so we can relax a little.

It will be so exciting when we are all getting our scans Grin

mrshedgie · 05/10/2010 17:07

HI to all!

Melltobe,

it's still early; not all women get sickness early on (I didn't with my first baby to start with). It often doesn't start until 6-7 weeks, as most will tell you. Some get it earlier, and it's not that nice really, so enjoy your pregnancy for now, lol.

I've just started to feel a bit 'off' and I'm coming up to 6 weeks on Thursday, when sickness often begins for me.

mrshedgie · 05/10/2010 17:08

i51.tinypic.com/255400l.jpg

Wondering if that link works; it's a pic of two preg tests; one at 18 DPO and the bottom one at 26 DPO.

sasamaxx · 05/10/2010 17:56

Wow - what a difference!! Are they your tests?

sasamaxx · 05/10/2010 17:58

Does anyone else pile on the pounds right at the start like me?
I always put on about 5lbs before my period for some reason. Obviously this hasn't shifted and I've gained another 2 or 3lbs too.
I always gain weight really early though

Irrelephant · 05/10/2010 17:58

Oh my goodness thats an amazing difference! Mine went like the bottom one within seconds of doing the test!
Welcome misshoohaa and congratulations :)

Irrelephant · 05/10/2010 18:01

Sasamaxx I've lost weight which I don't quite understand Confused

wonnaywombat · 05/10/2010 18:01

Hi everyone and I'd love to join you! According to 2 x online due date calculators, I'm due my 1st on 4th June - eeeek! and gulp! :) Have been a bit nervous about joining you as I don't want to tempt fate due to MC at around 5.5 weeks in June..... Doc has suggested first scan on the 20th of this month as an extra precaution.

it's already so great to be reading all the supportive posts. Looking forward to sharing tips and advice with you all!

Gillzz · 05/10/2010 19:45

Hi every1 found out I was pregnant on friday very early will be 5 weeks this thursday soo happy as been trying but bit worried 2! got DS who was 4 last week! worked out i'm due 9th june xx:)

petitech · 05/10/2010 19:47

Hello recent additions... so nice to see so many newbies and quite a few first-timers like me!
Hi wonnaywombat, misshoohaa and tumtumgnu
Sasamaxx I feel like I've put on weight, all clothes tighter, and boobs feel like they're stretching, ewww, not sure I've actually put on weight though or just bloated and full of gas, oh the glamour!
I can't concentrate in work anymore, keep thinking (tentatively!) how long will I be here for!

mrshedgie · 05/10/2010 20:24

Sasamaxx,

yep, those are my tests, the darker one from today. Please excuse the minging floor around the loo, didn't realise it would look so badly worn in the picture...needs changing.

Feeling a bit 'off' still. I'd only agreed to join Slimming World with my daughter a few weeks ago, and I put a bit of weight on....so I had to tell the consultant. Then I ended up telling my daughter because I was going to find it difficult to explain gains rather than losses...plus, I'm going to be feeling yucky soon.

I still haven't told Mum, or the younger kids...I'll get it in the neck from Mum, lol.

sasamaxx · 05/10/2010 21:25

Congratulations wonnaywombat gillzz and tumtumgnu Smile

Irrelephant - it's probably the sickness Sad - hope you feel better soon!

petitech - I know what you mean. I'm so constipated and bloated - think this might be the culprit. I also always get water retention so that might be starting too - nice Wink
