ilovebooks · 19/10/2010 16:29

Hello Everyone,

Can I join please?
Due date calculator says I am due June 23rd (DP's birthday awww). I already have a DS who is 6, so been a while since I was last PG.

Am feeling exceptionally tired, stomach feels REALLY sensitive and have yukk metallic tatste in my mouth most of the time. That's it so far.
Anyone else have the sensitive stomach thing? Am bloated and feel like there's something going on in there - am sure I didn't feel like this til much later on with DS1??

Happy tuesday to all, any excuse to use cute Halloween face .. xxx [hsmile]

cep · 19/10/2010 16:31

Oh Nursesunshine why on earth would he be trying to get you to have an abortion. That's awful.

Was really nice was only 2 labour rooms 1 being a birthing pool, was lovely and quiet and as i'd given birth there was able to have a private room, (as am a bit shy don't like the idea of sharing a room with others.) they gave loads of support regarding breast feeding, and when he was screaming cause he kept getting trapped wind cause i could bf properly one of the assistants had him for a while so i could get some sleep.

it did it went better than i expected.

i was at work but as have been feeling sick and sore came home, mw said is probably cause of infection.

cep · 19/10/2010 16:36

welcome misslittlebump and i love books congratulations.

i've never had to deal with the family planning clinic and from what guys have just said i think i'm glad about that.

i told mw about the odd glass of wine and she just said it was fine that the guidlines keep changing.

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 17:11

Congrats mslittlebump and ilovebooks. I also love books [hsmile]

cep I can only assume it was because I am young. He was really pushing it, said I couldn't leave until I had made a decision! It was a hard thing to come to terms with and though I think I knew deep down I wanted to keep the baby my head was still all over the place. I had to tell him I'd "decided" to keep it just to get out of booking an appointment!
I have no idea why they call it family planning, esp since if you were going in there for abortion info it'd be a right slap in the face.

Tolalola · 19/10/2010 17:17

Hello all, please can I join your gang? Grin.

I'm due 13th June with DC #2 (have a DS 2.10).

So far I'm very dull (just like last time)with no symptoms other than tiredness.

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 17:17

RE alcohol, there's that new study that's come out, you can read about it here, which states that 1-2 units a weeks is ok. So my plan is to have one pint, in two halves with plenty of water in between on a saturday night. Woohooo! And it feels sooo naughty!

cep · 19/10/2010 17:17

That's disgusting, it shouldn't matter what age you are you shouldn't be forced to make a decision there and then. not letting you leave isn't that false imprisonment??? I think i'd be making a complaint. I wonder how many people he's pushed into giving an appointment and having an abortion who then might have had second thoughts too late. That's not what you need at that time.

Sorry but that really annoyed me.(if you hadn't guessed) [hblush]

I'm glad that you got your head cleared and that you're happy about things now.

cep · 19/10/2010 17:19

i may be having a glass with all this info i've been given. :)

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 17:22

Lol thanks, yeah I was just flabbergasted! Go on have a glass! Although I did read somewhere that weeks 6-123 are the most important for developing so maybe stick to a v small glass until week 13. And I'll be having half a pint only [hsmile]

Congrats Tolalola welcome to the tired club, I'd have blow up balloons but I was too knackered

mrswantstobeamum · 19/10/2010 17:33

Welcome 8rubberduckies, mslittlebump, ilovebooks and Tolalola, and congratulations!

Mrshedgie, sounds like a terrifying experience! I'm so glad your baby is okay, and great that you got to see it!

Anyone else have pregnant brain already? I normally have a fantastic memory, but my short-term memory has already gone to crap. I'm making constant, incredibly detailed to-do lists at work, and forgot several items while doing the shopping even though they were on the list! I'll be putting the phone in the fridge before you know it [hwink]

cep · 19/10/2010 18:22

yep i keep forgetting loads of stuff, actually left my car unlocked all morning at work the other day, and it's in a public carpark.

Welcome tolalola

petitech · 19/10/2010 18:34

Hello lovely ladies and welcome friendly newcomers :-)
I am absolutely cream crackered, woke up at 4 and 6am to be violently ill so have spent all day at work in a zombie like state, has felt like the longest day ever.
tumtumgnu all in all I have had spotting for total of six days and by the sounds of it I think it was cep on here had it too and some others mention it being common in friends or previous pregnancies (I've had friends say same) so perhaps it is just 'one of those things'? My spotting was definitely worse after I had an internal examaination and then scan so maybe everything is just a bit sensitive there at the mo. I kind of wish the literature or info would reassure you that this does happen to a lot of people rather than the scare mongering it seems to do.
I am eating like a horse to stave off puking, read somewhere that you are only supposed to eat 100 calories more a day and that not until 2nd or 3rd trimester but I am definitely already putting on weight and getting a little paunch, anyone else?

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 18:40

petitech sorry you are feeing so awful, but all good positive signs.
I have a bug so have been fortunate to spend the last 30 hrs in bed. I am on my own all week so have basically been feeling sorry for myself with no one else to worry about it. just me and the cats tuckd up in bed :)

8rubberduckies · 19/10/2010 19:37

Evening all, well, it seems that as soon as I've tested, the flood-gates have opened and the symptoms are pouring through! Can't believe I didn't notice til 7 weeks last time! I've been a very shouty lady with my DS and DP today, bouts of nausea, feeling exhausted, and to make it even worse I'm coming down with a cold Sad. Its my second in the last 6 weeks, and the last one turned into tonsillitis, so felling sorry for myself tonight!

NurseSunshine that's a pretty nasty experience to have. I think some people in sensitive work roles get a bit immune to the realities of what is happening for the people around them, and end up being as sensitive as bulls in china shops. I would definitely complain, people in front line jobs like that need to be reminded to show a lot more sensitivity, respect people's decisions, and not make assumptions about anyone they deal with. Rant over Grin.

DeadBodyofKaraStarbuckThrace · 19/10/2010 19:39

Cep - yeah I still would like to do SW but am going to wait until I book in with the MW and get her approval first.

Balletpink · 19/10/2010 19:44

Wow, what a lot of posts! Hi to everyone, congrats to all the other BFPs and thanks for the warm welcome!

I am also eating too much petitech!, the biscuits help stave off the nausea. I also feel hungry all the time, but I'm trying to keep lots of apples and yoghurts around (still no substitute for carbs but hey).

In my last pregnancy I gained 4 stone Shock and at least over a stone of that was gained in the first 12 weeks. I didn't mind the weight when pg cos the bump disguised it (so I thought!). I thought I'd lose 2 stone straight away after the birth (what with placenta, fluid, actual baby etc) but I only lost around 1 stone Hmm gutted! For at least 6 months after the birth I felt like a real mess, wobbly and fat, none of my clothes fitted, I didn't always feel like going to baby groups because I felt so bad about myself. So THIS TIME, having returned to something of my pre-pg weight (thanks SW!) I have vowed to myself not to pig out Smile and may even do SW to keep on the straight and narrow Smile

cep · 19/10/2010 19:59

kara - if she does we can be diet buddies. :) ooh welcome balletpink another sw fan. Would be nice to have some people on here doing it with me.

cep · 19/10/2010 20:00

Oop sorry petitech, i hope you start feeling better soon, sorry that you're having a such a hard time of it.

sasamaxx · 19/10/2010 20:03

Wow - this thread has gone crazy - will trawl through the last million posts now [hsmile]

I felt so tired this afternoon that I got really ratty with the kids, practically begging DD to go for a nap [hsad]

Evening all!.

Cep, I completely missed your upset post last night, as I'd been writing my own and then continued to ramble on about myself - am so sorry about that - you must have thought I was a right insensitive cow!! Blush glad your feeling better today. Weight concerns are horrible, you'll hear alot of moaning from me over the next few months..

Everyone - thanks a million for the constipation advice Grin (theres a sentence I never thought I'd say.)

Sasamaxx, thanks for that - dont feel so bad about the napping now. Am doing what you described constantly!.

Wonnaywombat, best of luck for scan tomorrow! how exciting! will be thinking of you - make sure you let us know how it goes.

Welcome and huge congratulations to mrswanttobeamum, Supersunnyday, Sarahmumtobe, doughhnutty,8rubberducks, littlemissbump, Ilovebooks and tolalola really looking forward to getting to know you all over the next few months!! and cant believe how many have joined since last night! how brilliant! Smile

Mrsbigw yep!! me! I can smell everything!! my DH doesnt really smoke - only if hes been drinking (which is only about once a month - every 6 weeks) or very rarely i.e. once or twice a year he may have one off someone. He was working until really late Sat night, came in at 1am and was chatting me in bed, gave me a kiss and knew he'd been smoking!!! he said it was at about 4pm!!!.

Moomin so sorry your feeling so ill!. Hope your feeling better soon. Am same regarding doing the deed. Not a chance in hell.

Cuppamouldybatballsbrothjanice (are you sure your name is long enough now? [grin}), never occured to be about the eggs! thank you.

Nursesunshine re: the ADS, I was on lexapro, only for 2 months, I went off them as soon as I received BFP which I thought Doc would actually tell me off for so made an appointment as soon as possible for that reason. Am very nervous/ cautious during pregnancy though, probably since MC, would barely take a panadol. Anyway, GP said there was no way on earth he would allow me to continue on ADs and was very happy I had stopped taking them. I did read leaflet and it says that taking them during the third trimester can cause all sorts of problems for newborn baby but GP was completely against them through any stage of pregnancy. He didnt seemed concerned at all about my mental health though, or an alternative, which, if Im honest I felt concerning as I've been feeling quite crap.

Also, about the 1st trimester tiredness, from my experience it definately does ease in 2nd trimester (but returns in 3rd) I read its because your body is building placenta for the first 14 weeks and its such a massive task that even when your lying down relaxing, your body is doing the equivient of climbing a mountain!!!

Tumtumgnu Hope your ok. I've had period pain through all my pregnancies and all has been fine!. Am thinking of you and will be tomorrow also. x

MrsHedgie You poor, poor thing!! that sounds truely awful. Hope things really improve and your feeling better.

Petitech - me! am very fat. Have gained 7lbs already, despite all the vomiting. Am also in maternity clothes (a couple of weeks now) and have a very, very obvious pregnancy bump.

OP posts:
NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 20:16

supersunny I kind of want ms as well! Although I am trying to remember that I am lucky and I should not tempt fate [hgrin]

RE weight gain/loss, I'm more than a little worried about this tbh. I have/had an ED. Obviously as soon as I found out I was pg the bad behaviours stopped. I'm making huge efforts to eat loads of fruit and veg, drink lots of milk [yuck] and so on but am worried that A) I am using pg as an excuse to eat loads and will gain a million stones only 7lbs or so of which will be baby and B) that I will find it hard to lose after giving birth and will never ever be slim again.

I know the baby's the important thing and I'm trying not to worry but I am a bit Sad
cep, balletpink and deadbody, I think you're great for taking control like this and wanting to become healthier for yours and your baby's sakes [hsmile]

NurseSunshine · 19/10/2010 20:23

Sorry barbie x posts [hsmile]

I am jealous of your bump. I want one! I bet I'll get that in-between thing for ages where I just look like I've eaten too much rather than look pg. May have to invest in one of these

moomin156 · 19/10/2010 20:33

I will probably be gaining loads of weight as i just need carbs.....i normally try to be good but not bothering at the min and just eating so much bread......yummy
