Regarding running, I run a bit but I don't know how regular you have to run to qualify as a 'runner' :-) I've done the odd 10k and do fitness type runs of about 7k ish every now and again. Haven't ran at all the last couple months though as I read it can interfere with ovulation and the month I stopped I conceived, could be total coincidence of course.
At the moment I don't feel like doing anything running or otherwise but I'm thinking I ought to start doing some regular walking or swimming or something so I don't become a ball of lard!

broughthimroundtotheidea · 14/10/2010 17:00

To the runners / joggers out there - here's a link to another topic on mn on the subject that has some quite useful advice. Also, on the Runners World website there is quite a useful topic thread on the subject - can't find the link for now.

Ran almost as much I normally would - 7-10 km each time approx 4-5 x a week all on treadmill during first pg that ended in mc at 5+2 weeks. I genuinely don't think the mc was down to that, but this time I have taken it way down in terms of speed and distance and not for longer than 30 mins which is annoying the heck out of me but all in a very good cause Smile.

The main advice seems to be listen to your body, not get to the point of being so breathless you can't hold a conversation, sweat excessively or overheat....

If you have a heart rate monitor, the advice the GP gave was not to go over 130 heart rate, but that seemed ridiculous as it's just fast uphill walking for me. According to some sites, the advice of 140 HR (not even 130) is now out of date and would only apply to those who don't regularly exercise.

Confused yet?! I know I am!

featherblue · 14/10/2010 17:56

wonnaywombat thanks for the link. I ran 5k today (well, started to. Ended up walking the end) and wasn't feeling all that hot. And started feeling (probably in my head) some little weird cramps/feelings.

It's possible I'm just too paranoid, but I may switch to fast walking until after 12 weeks, just to be safe. I just don't want to risk it. I may change my mind in a couple of weeks though!

Hello ladies,

sorry I'm quite behind on what's been happening on the thread...but hello to all the newcomers and congratulations!

So sorry for those of you who've been going through losses; it's just hard and it feels as though you'll never want to even go there again so as not to get hurt again. Give yourselves time, anyway, my heart goes out to you.

I'm feeling sickly on and off, mainly in the afternoon to early evening. If I don't eat, it's quite a bit worse, but at the moment it's bearable and I'm quite glad. I'm 7 weeks along today! (well, I hope so :-) )Should have a scan some time next week, as the midwife put me through as 'high risk' pregnancy because I've had a molar pregnancy. I'd rather have a later scan to be honest, because I've miscarried from 12 weeks, but I can always look into hiring a doppler if need be, as long as they find a viable bean.

Have a lovely evening :-)

TumTumGnu · 14/10/2010 19:31

I've just remembered I'm 6 weeks today! Yay! And I did another pregnancy test yesterday (DP thinks I'm nuts) for no other reason then DP is going to a family thing at the weekend and wants to tell his mum the news and I came over all paranoid. Anyway the line can up pretty much straight away and was really strong so I'm feeling much more positive.

I'm glad your scan went well petitech! It's great to have good news Smile.

I have to confess that I have already been peeking at baby things on the web though I know it is far too early to be looking at stuff really. Must stop but I just can't help myelf! Confused

Girlsworld · 14/10/2010 19:44

Hello! I've added myself to the list. Proper BFP today following a few days of faint BFPs, but cautiously joining - hopefully it'll feel a bit more real soon!

Not sure of due date as think I ov'd later than usual but have put 25th as that's the estimated date from the due date calculators.

Clarkiee · 14/10/2010 19:46

Thanks featherblue Wink

The main sympton I has been having is tiredness- can't get out of bed! This is not helped by the fact that it's so dark in the morning. Keep expecting to wake up feeling sick but only had some fleeting queasiness so far!

Clarkiee · 14/10/2010 19:52

Can I ask a general question .....

Who have you told that you are pregnant?

So far I've only told my mum, dad, father in law and good friend from work (who keeps grinning like a Cheshire cat at me from across the staffroom).

Humania · 14/10/2010 19:53

So sorry to hear your news brassicababe and starflowergirl. Look after yourselves.

God I am so pathetically fragile at the mo - the RSPCA advert just made me cry!

petitech · 14/10/2010 19:55

So far told....
Mum, Brother/Sister-in Law /1 friend / 1 work friend / my boss... that's all so far... am a bit nervous about telling people before 12 weeks I think?!?
