wonnaywombat · 12/10/2010 07:47

Good to hear from you Barbie as you are our OP!

Welcome to all the newcomers and congrats!

I still seem to be avoiding the nausea although there is this ridiculous part of me that would like some to feel a bit more PG... mind you, boobs are a good indicator.

Still worrying of course especially as mc was about this time last time. Scan is a week tomorrow but I'm trying not to think about it toooooo much.

6+3 today (I think!)

misshoohaa · 12/10/2010 08:45

Hi Goodvibrations, I too am having an early scan on the 23rd. I'll be 7+3 then so figure that is a more achievable date to work to than that epic 12 week wait!

Can't believe some nhs areas are cutting back to one scan that's terrible!

Well if anyone is in the Southampton area there is a private clinic at Whiteley that do them for £55 which I think is good value.
I did another test this morning my DP thinks I am crazy but all of my symptoms have gone, and that little stick instigates a big sigh of relief! Phew!!
So according to the magical baby wand I am still pregnant, and off to see the midwife today so looking forward to that. My DP is coming with me, that will be OK won't it??

Misshoohaa 5+6

Igglybuff · 12/10/2010 09:11

Welcome to the newcomers!

miss, of course it'll be fine your DP comes along. DH came along to most of my appointments. Glad to hear you're still preggers Wink

My nausea is getting worse. Bleur. I have to wake up, eat, feed DS, eat, go back to bed for ten minutes, make brekkie, eat... Just to get through the first part of the day!

LobstersLass · 12/10/2010 09:11

Morning all.
Still no morning sickness here, although I am peeing ALL THE TIME, and have very sore breasts. Have also struggled to fall asleep the last two nights, but I think that's because I'm worrying that something's going to go wrong again.

I have the odd sneaky look at our scan picture from last Friday (5+3) and just hope that everything's going to be ok this time. Have got another scan a week on Friday (7+3) so hopefully all will be well at that one too. It will be the furthest I've ever progressed in a pregnancy.

Still taking my aspirin and hoping that it's enough to stop my stupid immune system from rejecting the baby.

TumTumGnu · 12/10/2010 09:19

Ah petitech don't cats just have the loveliest taste in gifts Grin

I'm trying to avoid going for a private scan as I know I really have no reason to worry so much, never had a micarriage and still relatively young. However if it looks like i'm not going to get the 12 week one before my work christmas lunch in early december then I will probably end up having one. I just know that faced with a room full of people all expecting me to be drinking with abandon I will lose any ability to keep it secret. But I do really want to have had a scan before I go public.

misshoohaa my DP is coming with me to my first midwife appointment next wednesday as well, figured it would be good for him to come along and hold my hand. I've told him if he comes to this one and the scans then he doesn't need to come to any others unless there is a problem.

IamMrsJones · 12/10/2010 09:25

Morning everyone, hope everyone is feeling somewhat queasy this morning. Grin

79monica - we were also married a few months ago, I think that makes ours honeymoon babies!

Welcome to all the newcomers, lookin forward to being able to compare notes with everyone over the coming months.

I'm feeling slightly worried this morning. Had bad cramps on Fri so my boss sent me to EPAU where I had a scan. They saw the baby, complete with heartbeat, yay! However; they discovered a large area of bruising, which is much bigger than the pregnancy and may have a big bleed. This is from where I had emergency surgery/PPH after my first. Now this morning, I am convinced I don't have many symptoms, despite feeling hideous for the last few weeks. I'm 7+3 now.

Will have a good read through the messages now and catch up with everyone.

Euughhh feeling sick and wobbly this morning.

I work from home so not too bad, as toilet is next door to my office lol.

mad panic this morning as DS and I overslept, got up at 7:30am and I had to be back at my desk to log on to work systems at 8:30!

Managed but felt so guilty as small was clinging on to me and saying he didn't want to go to school :(

Sure he will be fine though.

Not really had sore boobs but then I didn't when pg with ds either! I was paranoid when I had ds as my boobs did not leak at all during late pg, but was still able to bf, and did so until DS was 2.7! So don't panic if coming the later months that you don't leak :D

janeybooks · 12/10/2010 11:32

Hi all. New to this so forgive me not knowing the right abbreviations! Hoping I'm around 7 weeks now, although had minor bleeding yesterday which was scary. I know this is common but didn't have any with dd1 (4). Anyone been to an early pregnancy clinic for a scan as GP suggested this to me? Otherwise feeling tired, constantly queasy and hungry but never sure what I want to eat! And gone off chocolate which is a first!

MoogHasNoBrain · 12/10/2010 11:39

stargirl30 · 12/10/2010 15:38

Hi all, had first midwife appointment today. My due date is somewhere between mid may and beginning of June so lucky me will be getting my scan a bit early!
V V tired but not really sick as long as I eat little and often.
Hope you are al well and hugs to those who have had bad news
stargirl xx

mrshedgie · 12/10/2010 16:21

SO far, my nausea has been very mild, and only bothers me if I don't eat frequently. I should be 6 +5 today, and I'm sure that last time I felt more ill, but I'm not worried about it.

StarflowerGirl · 12/10/2010 16:51

Welcome to the newcomers!

I'm feeling much better after yesterday's wobble moment. My boobs are still not as sore as they were but I was as sick as a dog this morning so I'm being optimistic and hoping that everything is ok.

mrshedgie Like you I find that the nausea doesn't bother me so much if I eat regularly.

At how many weeks are people having their first midwife appointment? I'm 6+1 and my GP told me I'd have mine at around 7 weeks but I've not had anything through from the midwife yet.

yellowtomato · 12/10/2010 16:57

Afternoon all

Last time my midwife appt didn't come through until 12 weeks (had had mc by then) so I am not holding my breath!

Not feeling sick or tired today but I am only 4+3 today.

Igglybuff · 12/10/2010 17:14

No midwife yet but that's because I haven't let them know! I'm going to see the docs on Friday so will tell them then. Last time with DS I couldn't wait - this time, I'm not in a huge rush. I couldn't stand the appointments anyway - they were rushed off their feet and I remember once them answering their phones mid sentence Hmm

TumTumGnu · 12/10/2010 18:17

When I phoned my drs at 4 weeks they just booked me a midwife appointment straight away, they said that as long as I was feeling fine then they didn't bother with a gp appointment. Mines booked for next wednesday, so at 7 weeks.

cameli · 12/10/2010 18:36

I've has mine today and im 6w+5d.

Feel as if all my symptoms have gone though :(

petitech · 12/10/2010 18:40

Ooh very exciting people getting first midwife appts, I've had nothing yet but am expecting a phone call in the next week or so to book. Sorry for being thick but how come so many people are going for pre 10-12 week scans, is it precautionary or is it just a case of privately being able to get that earlier?
What kind of thing do they go through at a midwife app?

Clarkiee · 12/10/2010 18:51

I was wondering about the early scan thing too petitech

This might sound really thick but how do you all know how many exact days pregnant you are? I conceived mid Sep (14th/15th ish)which would make me 4 weeks but all due date things say I'm 5 weeks pregnant. Why?

Clarkiee · 12/10/2010 18:52

Oh and also wanted to say hope everything is okay cameli- thinking of you

79monica · 12/10/2010 19:01

Clarkiee from what I have read on various websites they count the number of weeks you are from the date of the 1st day of your last period rather than from the date when you actually conceived. I am certain that I conceived on Sept 18 which would mean that I am 3 weeks plus 3 days but the on-line calculators put it at 5 weeks 1 day. I suppose it is an easier measure as lots of people wouldn't know exactly when they conceived.

IamMrsJones, I'm glad to be in the honeymoon club with you! :) We've been together nearly 12 years and during my DH's wedding speech he said "I promise I won't make her wait another 12 years for the next big event". He didn't actually mean babies, he was just acknowledging that he took a very long time to propose, but everyone interpreted it as that and so people were shouting out that I would only have to wait to May 2011 - they were only a few weeks out! Grin

petitech · 12/10/2010 19:13

Ahhhh that's a lovely story 79monica made me smile :-)

GoodVibrations · 12/10/2010 19:14

Barbie Good to hear from you, I was starting to worry, but sorry that you are feeling so rotten :(

IamMrsJones great news on the heartbeat, that's a big milestone. What happens with the bruising, do they carry out any more tests or just keep an eye on it?. Hope you're ok

janeybooks - congratulations and welcome! Sorry to hear about the bleed. I had an early scan at the EPU last time and it was very scary and stressful, not a pleasant place to be at all. I guess you need to way up how worried you are. I personally would go if my GP recommended it but then I am a natural born worrier!

I think some other people asked about early scans. I am having a private scan because I went through an incredibly stressful time at work and have been so worried about the baby since then. It is really to try and stop me worrying (though I will soon find something else to worry about no doubt!!). Also I had an early scan last time (suspected ectopic) and I just can't wait for 12 weeks, I will be a jibbering wreck! Confused And I am really impatient aswell!!!

petitech · 12/10/2010 19:30

How do you go about booking a private scan?

StarflowerGirl · 12/10/2010 19:39

Cameli You're not alone. Yesterday I was convinced that all of my pg symptoms had disappeared so I started preparing myself for the worst. After a bit of research though I found out that pg symptoms can come and go as the hormone levels fluctuate in the first trimester. I've had some of the symptoms come back today but not all. I'm still nervous but determined to be positive.

Thanks everyone for sharing your midwife appointment info. If I haven't heard anything by this time next week I'll ring the midwife unit and enquire.

goodvibrations I'm really tempted to book a private scan. There's a clinic in town that does the Babybond ones but it's £99 a pop and I don't think hubby would approve since money is really tight right now.
