Hello all,

I just realised I put the 1000'th message on our last thread (uh oh, I think that's the limit), so in my Blush at not realising I'd reached the limit, thought I'd better start a new thread if anyone finds it.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
zerominuszero · 03/09/2010 20:41

Well I definately agree about not liking food,I hate everything including chocolate! All I'm really eating right now is fruit, crisps and curry. I grew up with spicy food and think my taste buds are reverting to their childhood state.

And I hate SO MUCH being asked if its planned but the weird thing is ours was planned but I don't like telling people that. I'm 25 and most of our friends are at least five years off having kids so we feel odd being the front runners, as sometimes we feel like they're all looking down on us for having an expensive baby when we should be concentrating on our careers like them (though they probably aren't)

Oh well. Got first mat jeans in post yesterday so will year them tomorrow, they look pretty comfy!

jackinthebump · 03/09/2010 20:52

I had my midwife 16 week appt today, got her to do the doppler for me as haven't heard heart beats yet, she was a little reluctant saying often can only find one hb or can't tell the difference between the 2 but gave it a go anyway. Found both hb very quickly (almost immediately!) One each side and they do sound slightly different, was very sweet!

She gave me ante natal dates to book, mine will be November and December although mid day on tuesday which im sure will go down really well with work!

Also meant to go to twin ante natal on Friday nights in October!

Couldn't tell from 16 week scan what sex they were but I was really amazed how clear the scan was - they look like little babies!!!

20 week scan in 3 weeks time - hopefully they will be a bit more co-operative and I can find out if I buy ponies or motorbikes!

MY sickness has mainly gone now although still have bad days - was sick last weekend!

My sister has given us a load of stuff already - she has given us a car seat but Im a little unsure of it - not been in accident or anything but she was given it by her SIL so is 7 or 8 years old now - should I use it or get another???

tadjennyp · 03/09/2010 21:35

I used my brother's carseat for both of mine as I trusted him and it was 5 years old by then. As you need 2 anyway, couldn't you say you wanted them to match????

ILovePonyo · 03/09/2010 21:38

i had my midwife appointment today and heard the babys heartbeat too, I nearly cried! Really made my day :)

I also keep feeling wierd popping/sort of fluttery feelings in my belly, now I don't know if its baby or my stomach but I don't care, keep telling myself its the baby and giving my belly a little stroke!

I also had the wierdest, most vivid dream last night about breastfeeding, really strange but nice too.

zero I think I have reverted to my childhood food tastes, really bland food like beans on toast and chips and gravy!

Hope you are all well :)

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 03/09/2010 21:52

You can always pick the twin you love best and use your sister's carseat for the other one...? Grin

Or keep it for spare, or give it to your mother/MIL to use in her car?

I think I'd probably want something newer than that for daily use. Although, that said, SIL is going to be using our original carseat which will be nearly 6 years old by the time her baby arrives.

ledkr · 03/09/2010 22:14

Sbf are you not going to make all your decisions around pils wishes? Some parents just can't separate grand kids from own kids. I'm always amazed by it. my mIl was on about coming into delivery room. fortunately its a planned section but wtf?only met her about 20 times. bit personal the birth process I recall!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 03/09/2010 22:21

If you've not met her often you could maybe send her into someone else's birth and claim you're not looking your usual self under the circumstances...?

tadjennyp · 04/09/2010 02:15

Although my MIL hasn't actually said congratulations or asked my how my pregnancy is going yet, so there is always one extreme to the other. Having said that FIL has cancer at the moment, kept it secret for ages from the rest of us and had the worry of that to contend with, so maybe that accounts for the lack of interest. Or it could be that it's the third and we live so far away... Anyway, a bit of interest would be nice, but the delivery room? That's just crazy. Lol at prof's suggestion! Grin

40Weeks · 04/09/2010 08:50

OMG I cant believe MIL wants to come into delivery room - hello?!?! My mum was present for DS2 birth (at home) and am sure it put PIL's noses out of joint but what can they say?! No way I would even consider it. How funny of her to think its ok. Mind you MVs are pretty good, if you tell them on the sly they will kick anyone out of rom that you dont want there Grin in case anyone else is fending off an audience!

I told my Mum I might find out baby's sex and she said great but please dont tell me as I dont know if I could keep it a secret -also she has 6 grandsons and is sick of people assuming she wants a grand daughter this time when all she wants is a healthy grandchild (thats what she says anyway) but she didnt ask me to not find out. My sister found out with her DS2 and didnt tell anyone, not even her DH (until after he was born). He is still annoyed about that now! Do what you want to do (am sure you will anyway, just agreeing with you really)

Hope you all enjoy the sunshine this weekend, wherever you are Smile

40Weeks · 04/09/2010 08:51

And congrats to everyone who had a lovely mw appt

smallblackflowers · 04/09/2010 09:05

ledkr I get on very well with my PIL - have known them for 13 years now and they are generally great(not delivery suite material though!). Its just the finding out the sex thing.....we found out with DD and they thought it was wrong, and they don't want us to make the same 'mistake' again. I am pretty bloody minded though and won't be pushed around by anyone, DH just wants to keep everyone happy...that being said, we will find out, just not sure who we'll tell!

ledkr · 04/09/2010 09:10

Prof...pmsl.
Difficult to be a pil I know but obviously most women have closer relationship with own mum! just because you are having their sons child it doesn't suddenly mean its ok to see u give birth! having said that my dIl are very close but we see eachother often and are similar.
Got all the worry of overly intrusive visits to come as well. Wish I could go to a desert island until its born ha ha

ledkr · 04/09/2010 09:18

Yeah. we had a probability of girl at nt scan but i know that's too early to rely on. I never found out with other 4 and when had dd after 3 ds it was best surprise ever had. this time we weren't going to find out then caved in at nt and now hope to have it confirmed at 20wks.don't really want to but I have a pink carpet in babies room and want to get it ready.
Think we won't tell others tho but way guess from stuff we buy and fact I refer to her as she. thought its nice for dd to pick outfits etc.

ledkr · 04/09/2010 09:20

ConstipatIon anyone? what is safe to take?

EauRouge · 04/09/2010 10:08

Nice to hear about lots of successful 16 week appointments- I finally got around to booking mine and it's on Monday afternoon, can't wait! DH is coming with me this time, he didn't come to the 16 week check with DD because he was working abroad.

ledkr I was prescribed Lactulose when I was expecting DD, I would go and ask your GP just in case though.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 04/09/2010 10:32

Prunes are good (and also help prevent osteoporosis). No need to eat many, three or four a day should help to keep you moving. Or dried apricots if you don't like prunes (fortunately I love prunes).

knittakid · 04/09/2010 10:50

Hi ledkr, poor you, appart from prunes, muesly with yogurt, but apparently the most important thing is water.

Has anybody been ill lately? I've got a cold and on one hand hope it helps the blob's inmune system, on the other hand worry i might have a fever, but the most disturbing thing is to think that each sneeze must feel like an earthquake in there!

Hope you are all out enjoying the sun. Xxx

moonminmama · 04/09/2010 11:02

Hello all. Feel as though I have missed loads! I've been back at work this week and despite passing over the nausea/sickness stage, work has absolutely wiped me out! I have had a little pain too of an evening in my belly (which for some reason all my colleagues have HAD to touch!) woman trying to take it easy.

As for the boobs question. Well i had the chest of a 12 yr old before pg (34a/b) and I now have 36b/c which dh is enjoying lol. I am still in underwired bras, but they are becoming uncomfortable (and very very itchy)

Sorry this has been a very 'me' post. I hopeeveryone is ok and things are looking up for you knitta. My scan is aweek on Tuesday. V excited!

jackinthebump · 04/09/2010 11:08

Both of the first car seats are being given to us, one from my sister (just found out it was given to her!) and one from sister in law. Might put them in DH car and get new ones for everyday use, can't do the 'i want matching' as I have said from the beggining I dont want them having matching stuff!

My sister invited her MIL into the delivery room for birth of her son - she did say she didn't expect her to be at the business end but she watched the whole thing - I found this very strange!!!

I told my MIL and we both had the same reaction to it!

moonminmama · 04/09/2010 11:36

Ew couldn't think of anything worse than m or fil being there for the birth. They are both lovely people and we see a lot of each other but it's definately a no! My mum and dh were both with me for birth of ds which was good for me.

I recently gave our old car seat to my best friend and she now uses it. I'm glad it's gone to a good home. We will be using part of the travel system seat for new lo the. Buying new once they grow out of it.

I too am having trouble with constipation. Hate prunes so willgive the apricots a go.

Off to buy the finishing touches to ds uniform today. I can't believe he stRts school on the 20th!

zerominuszero · 04/09/2010 11:58

smallblackflowers what IS it with these idiots who think there's something "wrong" with finding out the sex?! Grrr. BTW is your name a Manic Street Preachers reference...?

ledkr · 04/09/2010 12:04

Thanks all i love prunes esp on porridge i will have some and osteoparosis is probably next for me at my ripe old age so double benefits.
knitta i had a terrible cold on my return from spain went on ages. I must admit i engaged my pelvic floors on sneezing as i feared the baby would fly out.now that is paranoid.Had really high temp and headaches just took paracetamol and kept cool with ice packs. It is causing me some mild embarrasment-ok wind.Last night was terrible dh nearly went to the spare room. luckily i have a very small en suite so i kept nipping in there-not very soundproof tho such a shame we were such newly weds before all this haha.
I think occasionally mil have a very close relationship with dil. I love mine and i told her i was pg just after dh and went in just after dgs was born and chatted to her when in the bath but as i said not too close to mine due to distance and they not really my type of people-bit posh dont swear drink sensibly all the things im not really:o

jackinthebump · 04/09/2010 12:18

I have terrible back ache already, also, think I have a trapped nerve as it really hurts when I stand in certain positions - obviously trying to avoid those positions but not always that easy! Any suggestions???

moonminmama · 04/09/2010 12:22

ledkr I too have suffered with wind Blush it's usually of an evening. Dh and I been married for 5 yes so he's used to me now, warts an' all Smile luckily for us all they tend to be noisy rather than smelly...sorry if TMI lol

Hope you all have a lovely weekend x

40Weeks · 04/09/2010 12:50

Hello all - quick question for you - anyone needing to wee more than usual? I mean, more than usual in pgcy? This morning its one after the other, every 10 mins or so - not usually that frequent!? As soon as I go, I feel the need to go again.

Sory if TMI, needed to know if normal!
