how come people are having their babies so soon?! I've got 8 and a half weeks to go yet! Not fair!

mommainheels · 22/09/2010 10:23

Hello...hope it's not too late for a Novemberee to join you all and say hi? Have only just discovered MN Shock. Am 36 with 1st pg. and with just under 10 weeks to go (due 30th November) am feeling knackered/ anxious/ bewildered/ delighted/ teary/ happy/ justwantlabourtobeover. Hope it's not just me :)
Pg has been quite eventful but bubs seems to be fine in there - altho measuring big (at 28 week scan was already 3 pounds 12...)Hmm

comtessa · 22/09/2010 10:31

Welcom lulastic, irishbird and mommainheels.

Mommainheels - right there with you sister. My LO has been measuring above the scale from 20 weeks... and my DH has a HUGE head. (Hides under duvet and tries not to think about it)

hmmSleep · 22/09/2010 10:32

PrivetDancer, It's because we're cheeky October due dates that have snuck onto the November thread!

Hi mommainheels!

blondecat · 22/09/2010 10:44

Welcome to all first time msnetters! Never too late.

privet dancer, cardicorgi, nomoremagnolia, umf, llandb and hmm sleep thank you so much for piping in! It's great to know I'm not a "more machine than mum" freak of nature.

And it was me asking about non biological laundry. In the end used persil liquid non bio with extra rinse. Now I keep sniffing the clothes suspicious they are too scented for baby. May also give clothes from mil and my mother another wash as am not sure what they used... Paranoid I know. I am sure they used non bio but i can't stop myself.

comtessa · 22/09/2010 10:54

b00kw0rm - boxes, still? Oh dear. We had hoped to be in by the end of August, but sadly things have rather dragged on. We should be exchanging contracts on Friday, with completion the following week... Can't even think about it too much just in case there's another delay (crosses everything - especially legs, in case DD considers an early appearance).

Privetdancer I'm another late November one - not due until 27th.

b00kw0rm · 22/09/2010 11:49

comtessa - yes, still boxes but all confined to the one room (does that make it better?!)
Seems like there's a whole range of due dates on the thread so I predict that we'll have an early one by the end of the month- any volunteers?? Grin Definitely not me though... we're so not ready.
I'm having a sneaky duvet day, although technically working from home, just felt like I needed to put my feet up.
Hope the sun's shining where you are, it's gorgeous here in Nottingham!

nomoremagnolia · 22/09/2010 13:01

Sorry Privetdancer - my original due date was 29th Oct but being a first I assumed it would be late and so joined the nov thread. The 12 wk scan moved me edd to 27th Oct and now with the GD they want to induce me at 38y wks, which brings us to the middle of Oct. Haven't got a date for the induction yet but know they'll induce around 38 weeks and I'm 35 weeks today

Didn't manage to get hospital bag ready yesterday, I have a real mental block over getting it done for some reason, despite being really keep to go out and buy everything months ago....

comtessa · 22/09/2010 13:07

Actually, that does make me feel better. Was assuming we would be in and shipshape within a couple of weeks - but I think it'll take until Christmas at least just to unpack all our books. Something for the in-laws to help with while they're on their extended visit? DFIL does like to have chores to do. Therefore am very kind and thoughtful DIL to leave it to him. :o

I forgot you're Nottingham too, b00kw0rm. Enjoying the sunshine through my office window and looking forward to finishing the day. (looks at clock in a pathetic manner)

Loooopy · 22/09/2010 13:09

i'm hoping for a home birth, but starting to worry that maybe i should pack a bag just in case anything goes wrong - what sort of things are you all packing?

Just wondering, how are you all doing with weight gain? Almost 33 weeks here, and gained 20lb so far (and was overweight to begin with...)

And could any experienced mums out there give any guidance as to when is the right time to buy bras for breastfeeding - and how much more can we expect our boobs to grow? mine grew loads in the first month, but have stayed the same since, but not sure how late i should leave it to get some bras, don't really fancy trekking round the shops in November but i don't want to buy them and end up outgrowing them :)

oh and welcome to mommainheels sounds like you are working your way through the same emotions as me!

PrivetDancer · 22/09/2010 13:12

:) you do realise as our early arrivals we'll need full and intimately detailed birth stories, don't you?

Us lot bringing up the rear at the end of Nov will be able to just say 'yep had the baby, it's a boy' etc. Will be old news by then.

I had a dream I had a girl last night. Can't wait at the moment, it's all v exciting :)

comtessa, b00kw0rm I still have an unpacked box by bedroom door and we moved in nearly 4 years ago. I really should just take it to the tip as it's clearly not essential. I think it just contains a load of stuff from my bits of crap drawer, e.g. a discman(!), half used cosmetics, etc.

PrivetDancer · 22/09/2010 13:17

Loooopy, I'm hoping for homebirth too, but yes you are supposed to have a bag ready with stuff for you and the baby in, just in case. Same stuff as you would pack if planning to go in to hospital. If it's not needed it'll just be all the stuff you'll need when the baby arrives in one place anyway

I've put on 2st now (and was 2st overweight beforehand too). Last time I put on 2 and a half stone, so hopefully I won't top that this time.

Really you want to get your breastfeeding bras after you've been feeding a couple of weeks. Get a cheap one now in a size that fits you now but with a bit of give in it so you've got something for the first couple of weeks, but don't spend any serious money til you've settled in to feeding as they will go ginormous after a few days and then smaller again and there's no way really of knowing now what size you will end up.

comtessa · 22/09/2010 13:31

Thanks privetdancer (oh, just got your name and am now chuckling to myself), I was wondering the same thing about nursing bras. Will take myself off shopping in a week or two.

mumcha · 22/09/2010 13:40

hi all havent posted in ages been so busy.I have another scan 2morrow to check growth again even tho baby seems 2 b growing fine.I got weighed the other day and realised i have only went up to 10st 4lb when i was 9st 8lb before so not much weight gain.I cant wait for the nxt 2-3 weeks as i will have my little baby as im getting induced :),so i will share my birth story.Has any1 else been suffering heart palpations as mine started on monday and its starting to worry me now .

mommainheels · 22/09/2010 14:15

Thanks for all the nice welcomes and hellos! Oh I wish I had found this sooner...hearing all these posts makes me feel more normal! None of my friends where I live are pg or they have had babies ages ago so it' lovely to meet ladies in the same boat! Looopy, I have put on two stones and was nearly two overweight before I got pregnant Hmm. Thanks also to privetdancer for advice on nursing bras. Seriously don't know how boobs or bump can get much bigger...honest to god, I am mammoth :)
Am having a hospital birth and have dug out mini case but that's as far as it goes. DH came to ante natal class with me and is now more anxious about me getting it packed as a result...still hasn't gee'd him into action about painting the nursery mind you...Grin

comtessa · 22/09/2010 14:40

Weight update (to make you all feel better!). Was about half-a-stone overweight pre-PG, have gained 2.75st so far. Most of that was second trimester, seems to have eased off now. Am still fitting size 12 maternity clothes though, and some pre-PG tunic tops. I refuse to worry about it as I know I'm not overeating and will consider weight/size etc once Christmas is over. :)

CanIgetmuchbigger · 22/09/2010 17:06

Hi all,

What are you taking in your hospital bag? We've been busy trying to sort the house out (decided to basically redocorate every room - fools) and haven't even thought about what I'll need to take to hospital yet. I'm 32 weeks +5 with first DC; is this too early/late to worry about hospital bag?

sarahbuff · 22/09/2010 17:10

Hi ladies! Sorry to join so late. 33 weeks now, due Nov. 9. 4th baby! I have three boys, don't know the sex of this one (eek! so excited for a surprise!) Anyone else feeling REALLY impatient for November?? :) Not that I should be, I probably have 8.5 more weeks to go, since my other babies were 8, 12 and 10 days overdue! Argh! Happy to say I'm right on track with what I wanted to gain (1.5st in 33 weeks, aiming for about 2st total), but must admit I was not best pleased to see 12 stone on the scales! And would have liked to have been 10 stone or under starting out, BUT can't complain as it is an improvement on my last three pregnancies. With my third son I tipped the scales at 15st 7lbs the day before he was born!!! Ack!

bunnygirl80 · 23/09/2010 00:27

blondecat I'll also join you in the not bothered by hospitals camp. While I'd love to have a natural birth with minimal pain relief, I'm trying to mentally prepare myself for the possibility that it'll hurt more or take longer than I'm expecting. Epidurals aren't covered by health insurance here for some reason though, so DH's wallet would be much happier if I can manage without Grin

I reckon if I had a home birth, I'd end up tidying up and cooking for DH and various random visitors rather than recovering and getting to know LO. Am actually looking forwards to spending 5 days in hospital after the birth - although admittedly this is all down the the fact it's private, so will have own room with the option to have people come and give me a massage/manicure if while baby sleeps Grin

I'm now officially on mat leave so I'm hoping to get started on the very long list of things I need to do before LO arrives. Might allow myself to spend the first few days relaxing on the sofa though!

grinningbee · 23/09/2010 09:07

Hello to the newcomers! Grin

Well, wasn't it a beautiful day in Nottingham yesterday. It was dh's birthday, and we took a picnic to Woollaton park. Parked in the bottom carpark and walked up to the house. My goodness that was knackering!

Dd was fascinated by the deer and squirrels, and kept walking back down the hill instead of up, bless her. Still, it was a nice day in the sunshine and she was so pooped when we got home last night (after obligatory birthday pub visit) I managed to change her nappy and get pj's on without waking her up!

Machines that go "bing" - that reminded me of the Monty Python film The Meaning of Life. There's the whole sequence in that of a lady giving birth with a machine that goes "bing"!. It's funny. I'm also in the camp that doesn't mind hospitals. My chosen one is just over an hour away, and seeing as we have dd to drop off on the way this time as well, that'll be extra fun when the time comes Grin I do hope the labour will be shorter this time.

Weight gain update - was overweight before (not saying how much!) and at 32+5 have so far put on 19.8 pounds. I'm pretty pleased with that. I put on 21 with dd and it all went very quickly luckily.

We're off on holiday for a few days next week with dh's mum. I just hope the weather is a bit kind to us so we're not cooped up in the caravan all the time. Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!!

umf · 23/09/2010 10:40

bunnygirl80 that sounds like heavenly postnatal care! I'd be into hospital like a shot if that was on offer here!

hmmSleep · 23/09/2010 11:13

Hi sarahbuff, welcome to the thread.

Think I'm going a bit mad, not sleeping well at all but rather than using what little energy I have to do useful, important jobs, yesterday I:

Cleaned under the bath.
Bleached and scrubbed the kitchen sink.
Polished all the computer, laptop, tv screens.

Hmm, there's piles of washing / toys / other household crap everywhere, why didn't I tidy that instead?

Think I've gained around 16lb in weight, 35 wks, doesn't sound too bad but there's certainly plenty of back padding going on, guess that'll be all those chocolate eclairs!

OP posts:
grinningbee · 23/09/2010 12:25

Hmmsleep you cleaned under the bath?

Okay... It must be nesting!

I am doing some washing here. Got some of dd's newborn things in at the mo that I can get away with for ds. It's going to seem really weird in a few minutes to hang those out again! Must admit, the other day when I was sorting through the bag of clothes I felt a little sad to see little dresses and things that won't get worn this time. Mind you, dh is already on about a 3rd dc Shock

Would anyone like to slap him for me?

Grin

Oh, washing done. The scratch mitts are sooooo weeny!

sarahbuff · 23/09/2010 12:30

sigh Dresses! I have three boys, and we've waited to find out the sex of this one. I dreamed last night that the baby was born, and was a boy, and I was really disappointed!! Then I woke up feeling really guilty for feeling that way, even though it was a dream! Oh dear. I'm trying to think of ways to distract my thought for the next 7 weeks, this clearly isn't healthy! :)

mommainheels · 23/09/2010 13:25

hmmsleep I am doing similar things here. Yesterday, washed all skirting boards with milton spray stuff (first time used and smells quite nice), washed out and bleached all household bins and cleaned bathrooms which allowed me to avoid packing hospital bag and generally tidy up...on washing, I could use some guidance. Have been told that baba might be quite big...trying not to think about that TOO hard...Hmm so I have some newborn stuff as well as 0-3 months. Do I leave everything with labels on so that if he is ginormous I can take back and exchange, or do I wash stuff?? How tims have changed...this has ctually been worrying me. Do I need to get a grip? Grin
