So sad to hear your news MrsChemist, we will be thinking of you on Wednesday.

Loopsy, hope the next few days and weeks pass smoothly and you can relax into it..

I am seeing my GP tomorrow and we will discuss all options etc and get the bloodwork done. You have your first scan at 8 -10 weeks here so I am hoping it all looks right, trying not to think too much about it

southpacificfish · 10/10/2010 11:29

MrsChemist Very sad for you. Hope you get through this with lots of support and love.

Loopy you are the eternal optimist I think! Here's hoping you can buy a sling soon!

Bonkerz · 10/10/2010 12:50

have my first midwife appointment tomorrow and its also my birthday. Been having vivid dreams recently and one of them was the midwife felt my tummy and sent us straight for a scan because she reckoned it was either twins or that im alot further on than i thought! Im FAT so thought it would be ages before i started to show BUT my waistline is rock solid already and my normally flabby droopy belly is pointy! lol
Am still trying to relax about everything, 2 previous MC have made me so nervous.....but every day that passes sees me relax a little more and i just hope we can get a scan as soon as we get back off holiday next week (would love one before we go but not sure its going to happen!)
morning sickness is coming in waves right now, can go all day with nothing and then it hits about 8pm or i wake up and its really bad and then nothing for 36 hours!

Am going to let you in on something now and it sounds really morbid and weird but its reality for me.
When i was pregnant with my DS my dad died, when i was pregnant with my DD my mum died and on friday my Uncle died.......i have a feeling this means i am carrying a boy.

thell · 10/10/2010 13:35

There are people going for 12 week appointments!! I'm 8 weeks now, and it seems like forever until mine. I've finally got them though - a booking-in appointment at my local hospital, then two days after that a nuchal scan and about a million other tests at King's! It's a research centre, so they're asking to spend two hours taking various measurements and blood tests aswell as the scan. As long as they don't find anything that might scare me witless for no good reason Hmm :o

So sorry to hear more bad news, ladies.
I'm definitely more worried this time than with DD - she was a spur of the moment decision, and a first pregnancy, so I didn't have the time or experience to worry about it.

Fingers remaining crossed for all the remaining little beanies.

tigerbear · 10/10/2010 14:05

Mrs Chemist, so sorry to hear your sad news :(
And Loopy, that's scary about the bleed - I hope things are ok. Following my scan at 7 weeks 2 weeks ago where I saw a heartbeat, I was tentatively hoping things would be ok and had no bleeding for over 4 weeks. Until this morning, and have had some brown spotting :( Will go to the EPU early in the morning to see what's happening, but the thought of sitting there for hours waiting to be seen stresses me out even more.

Have the most horrendous week ahead even without this to worry about - DH and I are in the process of moving house, letting out our current property, moving temporarily until our new house is ready (put all of our stuff in storage on Friday). Still have to clean our current place ready for the new tenant who is supposed to move in on Tuesday (DH is now deep cleaning the carpets while I rest. Feel guilty he has so much to do). On top of that I'm away overseas on business this week, with no way of cancelling as I'm self employed. Loads of other work to finish before then, plus lots of prep for the trip needed. Arghhhh!

Gosh, that was a self indulgent rant wasn't it! I know many people are going through worse at the moment, but it all seems too much to think about right now :(

DMCWelshCakes · 10/10/2010 14:58

Sorry to see that there's more bad news on this thread. I hope everyone's as well as can be. :(

thell · 10/10/2010 15:23

My friend has just had a lovely little baby girl at home! I'm so pleased for her - and good to hear a story with a happy ending :)

Unfortunately she's called her Penelope, which was on my list!! Bah.

Thats a nice name thell!

Has anyone started thinking of names? I do then and tell myself off for geting ahead of myself!

I think I have also imagined decorating the nursery more times than is healthy Smile

southpacificfish · 10/10/2010 17:48

Talking of names, I have to stop myself coming up with names because I do numerology for a bit of extra income and I wouldn't want to make the perfect set of numbers up with a name for the sake of it! With DD however, I couldn't think of any girls names I liked and was convinced I was having a boy. When she arrived it took about 36 hours to name her and I just waited to see what she "looked like" which is what you're supposed to do with numerology. We chose her name without me doing her numbers and she ended up with a lovely set anyway! Hard to stop myself thinking about names though...

Yorkstar · 10/10/2010 21:24

When is your next scan arranged for Loopy? - it's this week right?

Sorry to hear others are worrying too. Good luck at the EPU tomorrow Tigerbear. Pregnancy is so stressful.

Loopy in response to your earlier question, i had a scan at 8 weeks and saw heartbeat but irrational part of me is convinced something has happened since, even though i know odds are in my favour. Im 12 weeks on Wed and have scan on Sat. Will be so nervous.

Good luck to others who have scans and appointments this week. :)

tigerbear · 10/10/2010 21:42

Hi Yorkstar, Loopy, and hello to all.
Yorkstar, good luck to you too for Saturday.
Bleeding seems to have stopped, which is good. Undecided whether to go to EPU tomorrow, or see how things go. Might go on Tuesday instead. My lovely Mum is traveling 3.5 hours from where she lives to see me tomorrow - never too old for a mum hug :)

tigerbear · 10/10/2010 21:44

Oh, and anyone else crying their eyes out to that Single Father programme on TV right now? :(

KatnKankles · 10/10/2010 22:46

^^ swooning over David Tennant more like!
He just hasn't met me yet....

I managed just moist eyes at Single Father, but suspect that was only because I was ironing/reading the paper at the same time!

Loopy hope you're holding up OK. Wednesday morning will be upon us before you know it, will be keeping everything crossed for you in the meantime.

Bonkerz so sorry to hear about your bereavements, can understand why you feel the way you do. What an awful co-incidence.

Hope things are OK tigerbear and Yorkstar - can't believe our 12 week scans are starting to come around already. Mine's next Thurs and am trying very hard not to obsess about it. This morning was suddenly struck that can still do up trousers whereas am sure was already in the bellybands at this stage last time, so now panicking that this means all is not well in there. Still only 10 days to go now...

Just told my boss, who had totally guessed! Bless her, she said there was something in my expression when my colleague announced her March due date a few weeks ago. Plus she and I have been pre-guessing every pg in the office for about 6 months now... Grin Thank god for understanding management.

runningmonkey · 11/10/2010 13:49

Sorry not been too good at keeping up lately.

MrsC sorry to hear of your loss. As others have said, I hope you are being looked after x

loopy sorry to hear that you have had more bleeding. Your pragmatism and strength that comes through in your posts is truly inspirational. I will be thinking of you on Weds.

Also be thinking of all those with scans this week and next.

I am suffering with terrible pg insomnia. Am exhausted but just can't sleep and end up thinking all sorts of terrible things and getting myself in a right old tizz. I think its partly stress about telling everyone in work as I know that the reaction is going to be bad from a few colleagues and worries about money and things for mat leave but as my DH keeps saying, we'll get by whatever I guess. I might try braving a swim this evening to see if a bit of exercise helps me sleep.

names I know its early but it is nice to talk about isn't it? I love the name Penelope - conjures up images of the very glamourous Penelope Pitstop who I adored when I was little :) We'll be going for a Welsh name as we did with DD which was an agreement DH and I made when we got married - that if I took his surname our children would have Welsh names in tribute to my roots :) We really struggled with boys names last time but still have a copy of our lists from last time somewhere on my phone to get started from.

Right best go and do some tidying up - got some friends and their DD's coming over in a little while for a cuppa, chat and play.

zinnia · 11/10/2010 14:40

Bizarrely, was thinking only this weekend how Penelope is not a name you ever hear of being given these days! Just goes to show how much I know...

MummyWilliams · 11/10/2010 15:34

Hello all.

tigerbear how are things? Did you go to EPU? Very nice to have your mum visiting.

loopy how are things with you? Not long to go til Wednesday, am thinking of you anyway, but especially for Wednesday.

Bonkerz they are completely mad coincidencies!!!

runningmonkey can't bear to think about names at the mo. thell mentioned Penelope, her friend had had a baby this weekend and had called her Penelope. Must be popular this year. I knew somebody called Penelope and wouldn't choose that name. It's funny how people you have known in your past affect how you feel about a name. Hope you have a lovely afternoon with friends.

I did some baking this weekend Grin citrus tart & chocolate fudge brownies mmm! yum! yum!

We went to a car boot sale yesterday - its amazing how many baby items were on sale from cribs to clothes. Can't touch, look or dare think about buying anything. Won't for a long, long time. We will be buying second hand though, IF we get there.

We told my parents late last week. They are very happy for us. Said they are with us all the way. I work for myself, but the woman who I do alot of work for has been told. Because I am a coffee addict, and she would question me as to why I switched to decaff. I told her as soon as we found out - she said "Why? Why put yourself through it all again?" - understanding [sarcasm] eh!

I think I have got 'nesting' very very early, I have a massive desire to get the house straight, organised, decorated etc - but no energy to do it. We moved here just over a year ago, but everything is still a mess. Shock

Our next scan is this Friday at 2pm. Already very anxious.

One last thing - I think I can feel very tiny movements here & there. Definately nothing regular, just very, very tiny little flutters. I am 10 weeks 1 day today (going by conception date). Should be 10 weeks & 5 days by LMP. This is my 5th pregnancy. But it could just be wind. Grin

xxx

zinnia · 11/10/2010 15:57

MummyW hang on in there, Friday must seem like a long time away. Will they be doing dating/nuchal fold etc. as well at this one?

Cheered myself up at lunchtime by recalling that of course I wasn't wearing bellybands at 10 weeks last time, was only made aware that such things existed by the woman I sat next to at work at the time, and she didn't know was pg until I told work at post 12 weeks. My memory is rubbish.
