MummyW Can you complain to someone? That really is out of order, this is a baby we are talking about Angry the stress a bleed can cause could make it 10 times worse. To even ask you in for a chat would of been good, but to fob you off like you were after another peek is just nasty. What a bitch!

IheartRPatz · 04/10/2010 13:10

These posts do remind me of when I was pregnant with my first. Everything was perfectly fine and I was due to have my "12 week" scan at 14 weeks. At 12/13 weeks I started to bleed, I was terrified. Dh rang the hospital and they refused to scan me as I had a scan booked so I needed to wait. They said I could only go in if I had pain, and to use pads if the bleeding got heavy. I felt really sick at my scan because I'd had two weeks being terrified that something had gone horribly wrong.

Purple so sorry to hear your news.

MummyW hope they scan you and put your mind at ease. I had stopped spotting before my early scan but did bleed afterwards.

I am still feeling exhausted, but like there is light at the end of the tunnel. I feel a bit iffy, and am off my food, but aside from that (and the really sore chest!) I feel okay. I had a chat with work re the job that was advertised, and that looks hopeful, and they were really fine about the idea of me being on mat leave as well... my current boss has been on holiday, so I'm going to have 'fess up that I've applied for another job AND that I'm pregnant.

MummyWilliams · 04/10/2010 14:17

Just had scan, bean is all ok! Phew! Gonna try to relax for a bit. Deep breaths, deep breaths.

xxx

zinnia · 04/10/2010 14:56

What a relief! Fx no more scares for you...

runningmonkey · 04/10/2010 15:39

Thank goodness MummyW hope you are relaxing.

Thanks also for the info about H. Its pretty much what I've heard from everyone who has given birth there. Much to think about.

just got back from a long weekend away, relaxing in front of a fire and reading....
it was a great as work has been so stressful.

I haven't seen a doctor yet, will get hold of my GP this week and find out about scans and hospitals etc....

feeling exhausted today too, but so far so good.

Shocked at the blase attitude some of you are experiencing!!! Shock

cowboylover · 04/10/2010 18:20

I hope you can enjoy a bit of relaxation time now MummyW as stress is not going to make either of you or bean feel better.

Sorry for your horrible treatment!

I told a close co-worker today as been suffering with sickness and not pulling my weight today who then took it upon herself to share my news with some of the team! I feel a little hurt as it is MY news not anyone elses to share; her saying she swore them to not to tell anyone did not make me feel any better.

Tinwe · 04/10/2010 18:45

Good news *MummyWillims", have been thinking of you today, so glad you can relax again. Shocked about the hospital's attitude though!

Pochard - I too am confused with my testing options and unimpressed with my midwife so far. She just gives me leaflets every time I ask a question... get this feeling she's too busy to actually chat! Will come down to personal research I think, unfortunately.

Good for you Iheartpatz re: the job... when would the interview be?

zinnia how come you've booked the 20 week scan when you've not had the 12 week one yet?

I had a similar experience re: telling people at work cowboylover. My boss asked me to tell my small team "for risk management reasons" but I was soon congratulated from my boss's boss's boss and someone in another team who'd been told by someone. Not very happy 'cos we've not told some close friends yet (waiting for the scan) and they may well end up hearing through the grapevine, so I've been forced to "out" myself earlier than planned. On the other hand, I suppose if anything did go wrong (God forbid), everyone would also find out quickly through the grapevine, which could be a blessing. Maybe you are best just telling people yourself cowboylover... once a few people know it's not a secret anymore!

Anyone's morning sickness started easing/passing yet (think I'm one of the earliest due dates and mine's still going strong)?

KatnKankles · 04/10/2010 19:45

Hiya all. Purple so sorry to hear your news. I've been there sadly :( mummywilliams pleased everything is ok for you
loopy how are you? I bet it's so stressful but it's all going to be worth it :)))
I'm ok, feeling sick and knackered, dd3 still not sleeping through but she's a little angel so I'll forgive her :)
dh not really acknowledging the pg to be honest, I know he'll be ok but it's a bit annoying that he won't talk about it when I have to do all the sensible things like getting my implant out, booking mw appt ad well as going through all the feeling crap business..
Sorry to whinge, haven't told many ppl in rl and need to vent. I am excited about a baby really I am it's just such a shock and I'm pretty terrified of an 11/12 month age gap to be honest!

DragonMamiCooksWelshCakes · 05/10/2010 08:08

I had my reassurance scan yesterday & all is well. Baby's measuring about 9 weeks & has a heartbeat.

I managed to get through the weekend by doing as you suggested - CBeebies & spending as much time as I could on the sofa. By the time DH got home I couldn't take any more though so he sent me to bed to enjoy the nausea in peace. :)

I've now got a nasty upset stomach (rather than vomiting) which isn't very nice. Has anyone else had this in early PG?

GP appointment this morning so fingers crossed that goes well & they can reassure me about the stomach thing.

fijibaby · 05/10/2010 08:28

Hello all,

Had 7 week scan this afternoon and Doc confirmed my dates so EDD 24th May. Little heartbeat blinking gently on the screen - it was lovely to see.

It's 7.30pm and I'm off to bed now. Tragic really!

cowboylover · 05/10/2010 11:19

I have been the same fiji as I just can stay away much longer which feels so daught! On the weekends I have started having a sleep in the late afternoon so I can still go out at night as I dont want to miss anything and be a hermit but just cant stay away any later!

Feel like crap today as not gone to work and feeling super guilty!! It's the first day I have had off due to pregnancy symptoms but I don't have a great sickness record so I hope I don't get in trouble. Does anyone know if pregnancy related is treated differently?

I am not getting morning sickness but all night sickness which starts at about 10pm and all night until 9am by which time I am late for work, cant face the hours commute and an emotional wreck due to lack of sleep!

Sorry for such a long me post, I hope everyone else is doing well

zinnia · 05/10/2010 12:31

Tinwe it's just how they do it round here - I guess because I was at the hospital for blood tests anyway. Just as well I did go myself, they'd already allocated me an appt for midday on the day I turn 20 weeks. Midday being about the least convenient time when both DH and I work full time at least 45 mins' journey from the hospital! Re-booked for 9.00am same day. It is a big, busy central London Trust though so they prob just like to get everyone lined up ASAP.

DragonMami early pregnancy can play havoc with your digestive system - for me it seems to be mainly constipation, but believe the opposite is also very common.

General knackeredness/nausea still going strong for me at 9+4, but was amazed how much better I felt at the weekend after kind friends managed to get me 8 hrs' sleep. Have now resolved to get to bed an hour earlier every night until this passes.

IheartRPatz · 05/10/2010 14:11

Am so sick today :( Struggling at work.
Had my interview this morning as well, looking a little green around the gills. Just waiting to see now...
Told my boss both bits of news. He was fine.

Cowboylover - that sucks. I had the same thing with my SIL, she found out accidentally that I was pg (at a spa, of all places!) and then just could not keep the news to herself. She'd dragged it out of me/DH after hearing that, DH said it was true, she wanted to know when we were telling everybody as she wouldn't be able to keep the news to herself. I was really angry about it, we ended up rushing to tell everybody, ahead of when we wanted to. Frustrating. I know its exciting for people, but, its not that hard to keep from repeating the news!

LoobyLou33 · 05/10/2010 16:19

Hi folks, whoever recommended nibbling rich tea biscuits for a MS cure - good work! I've been munching my way through a packet and it's a good solution (along with having to eat other food ALL the time too!)

Dragonmami don't wish to worry you, but if your sickness bug is extreme - like gastroenteritis - it can be a symptom of an eptopic pregnancy. I'm sure it's not that but just wanted to let you know, as my sister's friend had that and thought it was just a tummy bug, then collapsed in the shower because it was an eptopic pregnancy. Thankfully she's OK but it was a rather close call. If you're seeing your doctor anyway I'm sure they'll consider all that, and I hope I haven't worried you I just know from this friend that that can happen.

I saw my mw last Monday and still no letter with scan date - should I pester or can it take a while to come through? 11 weeks today.

DragonMamiCooksWelshCakes · 05/10/2010 17:50

LoubyLoo - Don't worry, it's definitely not ectopic. I had a scan yesterday & everything's where it should be & trundling along nicely.

The weird thing is that it doesn't feel like a stomach bug. More like MS heading the wrong way. Mind you, I'm NEVER sick (even when I had norovirus I threw up only once, never threw up with swine flu etc etc etc) so my stomach does tend to work on the premise that it's a one way system.

I am heartily sick of the sight of my own toilet though. I really hope it improves soon - I work full time & have a toddler. I don't have time to be tied to the bog for the next however many months!

cowboylover · 05/10/2010 18:12

I just find myself being more panicy than I have been since I was suffering with depression. Has anyone else felt like this?

Dont know how to explain this but I just wake up and im stressed and cant relax or face going out on my own. I think im leaching on to my DH and think I have been stuck to my sofa more than I have ever in my life!

fijibaby · 05/10/2010 19:43

Morning!

MummyWilliams so good to hear your scan showed everything going well. What a relief!

Sorry for not including congratulations in last night's post... brain fade caused by fatigue.

Aren't people incredible when it's not their secret to tell?
With prev pg we were kind of forced to tell everyone really early (the day I got my BFP) because it was DH's 50th Birthday party shared with his triplet brothers. We planned to warn a few people so that he didn't get any ribbing during speeches but it spiralled from there. Plus the standard "Fiji's not drinking... is she pregnant?" My mother's response when we told her was "Well that was to be expected" Hmm then took it upon herself to inform some of MY friends with the phrase "I think they must have told us the moment they got out of bed"... Gotta love my mum!

On a slightly different note, DragonMami I'm like you. When pg with DS I was eating kiwifruit and pawpaw like they were going out of fashion just to get some movement and this time is completely opposite. I'm hoping it stops soon coz I'm getting frightened to leave the house!

To other tired people I don't think you can underestimate the impact tiredness has on your mood. This first trimester is a killer and from memory... IT DOES GET BETTER The couch is a prefectly reasonable place to spend a large amount of time. Give in to it now because once the LO arrives you won't get to choose when you sleep. Be nice to yourself. Smile

QwertyQueen · 05/10/2010 19:46

Feeling very down today.... Work is so stressful and my ankle is very sore. Have had bad joint pains for ages and was in the process of testing when got preggers. Since being preggers there has been no joint pain which is wonderful... Until now :(
on a lighter note tho- it is so difficult to
plan meals isn't it?!
I really felt like meat the other day so bought enough steaks and sausages etc to feed a small army. Now I can't stomach the thought of meat so DH and DS are having to work their way through it!

Rollercoasteryears · 05/10/2010 20:04

Hello everyone,

Purple, so sorry to read your news.

MummyW, sorry to see you've had such a stressful few days and such a crappy experience with the hospital - but great news that everything's ok.

Had a v slight bit of blood on tissue earlier, but am doing best to convince self it's nothing, probably a result of sex with DH yesterday! (sorry, TMI I know...)

Off to lie listlessly on sofa now while DH cooks me dinner! Hope everyone's feeling ok and those that aren't, that it picks up soon...

Hi everyone, hope some of the worrying is starting to ease up for as many of you as possible.

Re other people spreading your news I go out to work once a week on a Saturday in the pub. My goes to DH the pub a couple of times a week and I find he tells a friend or two (then doesn't tell me he has) who then tell other people and then I get someone yelling across the bar at me about being pregnant. I have to say I'm not very gracious about some of the congratulations as it tends to wind me up that they can be so insensitive as so spread the news pre 12 weeks - especially at volume across a busy village pub. So I share your annoyance but in my case it's often DH that can't keep his mouth shut!

Anybody feeling tired I am now 10 wks and have had 3 days of pretty good energy and no sickness. Have forced a bowl of porridge down every morning and it's made a real difference. There's light at the end of the tunnel...

Qwerty Planning meals = pain the backside when you feel sick and only fancy anything that you don't have in the house! I've gone right off chicken, sausages and fish and want steak steak steak so it's getting a little expensive!

Good luck to anyone being scanned or meeting their midwife today.

zinnia · 06/10/2010 10:44

Morning ladies
well I don't know if it's because I'm heading towards the 10 week line or whether the new going to bed early regime is working, but am feeling much better today. A bit tired but no nausea at all this morning. Yay!

Am however utterly depressed because we've just found out that the people whose house we're in the process of buying have suddenly and entirely without warning changed their minds about selling. Bs. Am crushed as it was the ideal buy for us and a real bargain, and timing would have been perfect for this pg too.

PS get well soon Loopy, had the same thing week before last. Rubbish, isn't it?

MrsChemist · 06/10/2010 12:21

Hey everyone. I had my scan last Friday and they said that they didn't think the pregnancy was viable Sad
There had been some growth from the last scan, so I'm having another this Friday, just to make absolutely sure that they have stopped growing, but they said they don't want to give us any false hope, because they are almst certain it's not good news. I'm not sure what happens after the scan on Friday They said we would discuss it after the next scan.

I'm upset, but I knew something was wrong. it just felt all wrong, so I'm not dwelling on it. I've just been keeping myself busy with DS.

Thanks for everything ladies. I'll update after my scan on Friday, but like I said, it's probably just going to be to say goodbye.

Hope everything goes well with all of you xx
