Here's the new thread for the September 2010 arrivals - though some babies have already come in July and August, and maybe more to come in August before we're done with this month...

OP posts:

StrictlyTory · 02/09/2010 13:31

Hehehehe! I just want sleep, I don't want any touching Grin

What brand is yours? £45 seems a lot to spend at this point when I already have a Widgey from DS so won't be using it as a feeding pillow....

Chathappy · 02/09/2010 13:32

Wow, so many posts to catch up on in such a short time !

Congratulations Patito !!! What a fab birth - sounds perfect Smile

I have a dreamgenii pillow and it has been a god send but yes I agree with picklesarnie - it's like having a little dividing wall between me and dh !

Park, sounds like you are having a long latent phase ? I had this with ds1... I dont envy you and hope I dont get it this time ! But it shouldn't be long at all now before it kicks off properly though if that makes you feel any better ? !

I'm having the grandparents staying round my house to look after my 2 boys when the event happens so they are on red alert. They are only 10 mins away. I couldnt think of anything worse than being in labour in front of them though so Ill be leaving it till the very last minute to call them I think !

I'm not sure but I think I may have had a show yesterday ? (sorry please dont read if you are eating your lunch !! ).... I had a load of brown discharge in my underwear? Like at the end of a period? Does anyone know what it is supposed to look like? I reckon I 'may' be gearing up for something in the next few days but not sure... also been going for 'number 2's' a lot !!!! How glamourous is pregnancy - sorry if I've put anyone off their dinner !

I have been feeling extra emotional the past couple of days too and at my midwife appointment they said the one birth pool they have at the hospital is out of action for 3-4 weeks because of some kind of infection found in it? I'm so gutted ! I really wanted to try for a waterbirth ! Nearly blubbed when she said that (and felt really silly !)! Sad

My eldest started school today so I feel like Im ready to have the baby now his first day is out of the way.... here's hoping aye!

Hope you're all coping okay in these final weeks......

Really sorry cluds that's awful for you all!

I know what you mean parkj83, starting to think I wouldn't know if was in labour which is totally stupid but you have to have faith in yourself and your body. My waters went by themselves but when I was in hospital and went with a gush so if they go at home we will ahve some clearing up to do but might be a good excuse for a desperately needed new carpet Wink

My bump is so tight today and I am getting pains in the tops of my thighs, which is not nice. Still need to go shopping tonight too. DS was so brave with his jabs, no tears at all and did exactly what he was told- got a sticker for each arm from the nurse and some sweeties from mummy so well worth it in his eyes!

whirleywoo72 · 02/09/2010 17:27

just an update x had my last growth scan yesterday, and been booked in for induction on the 13th sept xxx

Monstermuncher · 02/09/2010 20:38

Congratulations Patito - you have made it sound very easy!

Cluds - thats awful, hope you are ok.

Lots of tightenings today, plus very sharp pains in the pelvic region. I'm also super emotional at the moment, it doesn't take much for me to be in tears. Oh I wish something would happen soon, I hate the waiting and the just not knowing what is going on, I'm such a control freak. In some ways I am more worried about the whole logistics of getting DD to her nana's house and the possibility of my waters breaking in public than I am worried about the whole giving birth/pain thing

EDD - 3 days

bellabelly · 02/09/2010 20:54

Ooh, it sounds like lots of you are getting some promising twinges! I have finally got a date for my c-sect - 13th Sept, am so glad to have a date to count down to but it's also suddenly seeming scarily real. Only 11 days to go!

Dixiebell · 02/09/2010 21:21

I bought a Dreamgenii a few months back, beacause of the hip pain I was getting, but have never really got on with it. The hip pain is inevitable no matter how much leg propping I do, and I can't get through the night without turning from side to side. Beacause the dreamgenii is designed to keep you lying on your left hand side, I found it a real faff when I needed to turn over, as I had to lift the whole thing and bring it over with me. Just didn't work! I'm not sure that it would do anything that several pillows strategically placed wouldn't do, especially as you've gone this far without strictly, but others obviously have found it much better!

Last day at work today, hooray! Can't quite believe I won't be back there for over a year, it just felt like I am off on holiday for a few weeks. But so glad to not be commuting any more. Now just need to survive a trip to Cornwall (just the 5 hours in the car, then...) and not give birth there a la Samantha Cameron, then I can really relax...!

parkj83 · 02/09/2010 22:10

Thanks Swordfish, Cinnamon and Chat,

Yup, this does seem like a loooooong latent phase! I had another long squeezing session today, steady & strong contractions from about 11.30 onwards, stayed fairly steady but then started to fizzle out from about 2.30 onwards. So I took a homeopathic supplement on the advice of my doula, and had a shower to refresh and relax a bit... it now is becoming apparant I shouldn't go near water with this one!! My squeezes shut down completely for a couple of hours, and haven't really re-established themselves since - argh!

Swordfish, if by posterior, you mean back to back, nope, this one def isn't (DS was, so that's been checked regularly with Fidget). Fidge does like to sit slightly sideways, but is very definitly head down, and his/her back is usually to one side or t'other of my navel.

Cinnamon, I was/am worried about the mess with my waters breaking, so I begged DH to get some cheap shower curtains from ASDA, (£1 each!), and I've spread them out on the floor over my usual path of pacing for when I'm trying to encourage things. That has helped me relax about that a bit :) Also, I had my waters broken for me with DS, plus I had extra with him, so it was a massive gush that happened in the hospital. (I kept apologising to the mws - they couldn't stop laughing! Blush)

Chat, that sounds a lot like the show I had with DS, but mine was like a big blob of jelly, and came out in 2 stages. I'm waiting for this show to show! as the midwife did a bit of a stretch and sweep when she examined me last night, but although I've had a thicker than usual discharge appear today, it's a typical creamy colour (sorry, tmi!) - I'm expecting brown or similar? Or was my last one like that because I had a deliberate sweep done?

I had another chat with my doula today, and we've decided to not call either her or mw until I'm in established labour (not wanting to eat/talk/drink/walk, which so far, I've managed to do through the squeezes I've had) or my waters go.

I'm trying a bit of everything to help things along though, pineapple, RLT, walking about etc. I've run out of curry, and DH is reluctant to help out (ahem) so far, so I'm fast running out of ideas. The crazy thing is, I'm still getting contractions, but they're just not regular at the moment, unless I'm pottering about the house. But there's only so much pottering I can do!

Oh well. Thanks for letting me waffle ladies, hope you all have a good night. xx

cinnamon It hurt last time with DD and this time with Isobel. Jacob dosn't hurt me at all, infact twice the pain has got so bad with Isobel that i have swapped boobs to give Jacob the chance to heal it for me. It's not supposed to hurt though and the midwife has shown me a different way to get Isobel on without pain, but she has slight tongue tie and it doesn't always work.

Cluds I was burgled in 2006 during the night while me and DD were upstairs in bed- it's awful. Luckily (or not) i had £200 on the bookcase to pay for DD birthday party, so they just snatched that and left. I'm sorry that they've been through all your stuff. Hope you and your sons are ok. I worked in a youth offenders prison for 2 years and believe me they are not worth getting upset over or losing any sleep over. xxx

sassy34264 · 02/09/2010 22:22

cluds just re-read what i've wrote.......i mean they are not worth getting upset over with regards to being scared in your own home etc, not about what they took from you- that is very upsetting. (hope you see what i mean)

Debs75 · 02/09/2010 22:36

Cluds Really sorry to hear you have been burgled. I hope you can get things sorted out quickly.

Park All my shows have been different. DC1 was like a thick mucus pink plug.

DC2 more of like the start of a period.
DC3 none as was induced.

DC4 a stringy bloody mucus
The same goes for waters
DC1 a steady flow
DC2 more like egg whites and no gushing
DC3 a huge gush like a waterfall
DC4 half way between a gush and a flow

I know what you mean about the pottering. I tried eveything I could not to lie down with Lucy as I knew things would slow. I bounced on the ball and marched around the labour room as much as I could before I had my drip put in. None of it worked this time as it was another 18 hours before I went into actual labour.
With dc2 just walking from the bed to the loo was enough to move labour along, he was raring to be born.

You all seem to be getting loads of early signs so I'm hoping tomorrow we have some more babies.

MammyG · 02/09/2010 23:24

Patito - all sounds lovely - well done you and huge congrats.
Cluds - you are being such a trooper about it all! Im sorry it happened. Hopefully you will get some of it back.
Im feeling ick at the moment. Just very uncomfortable at times. I was induced on both boys and just dont know what to expect if I managed to go myself. I would love to go this time as its my last but then find myself totally apprehensive as I live almost 2 hours from the hospital. Anyway too uncomfortable to stay on on

Hi folks. Am feeling terrible this morning! We went to the cinema last night and through the evening I got really painful in my lower abdomen, but feels like the scarred muscle form my last section. Anyway, eventually phoned the ward and they said take paracetamol and call back if no better, so I did that and got some sleep. Woke again at 5, still very tender, but baby moving loads. Had a bath (getting back out unaided was fun, thought I'd have to shout DP at one point) and discovered I have a rash all over me! DS had a rash for about 24hrs earlier in the week and now has a sore throat/cold etc so hopefully just a minor viral thing but Google is not my friend.

Anyway, I've had a cuppa and wandered around but I'm sooo sore (feels like I was a few days post-section actually, really bruised) so I think when DP wakes we'll decide whether to see the local MW or make the big trip to hospital for a check up.

Just want to cry and cry this morning, sorry for misery post :(

beaditAli · 03/09/2010 08:01

So impressed with all of you that have other DC's and are coping so well in pregnancy. Doing this for the first time with just a big, poorly, lanky hound is bad enough. I have however had 3 nights of dreamy sleep so don't think there's much chance of Bumpy arriving this early.
So good to read about everyone's experiences:
thanks Debs75

it does make it easier to know slightly what to expect.
Hope everyone is staying as happy as poss and if we have any newbies..... WELCOME little ones! x

cinnamongreyhound · 03/09/2010 08:02

Are you tandem feeding then sassy34264? Fantastic that Jacob is feeding so well that you feel he can heal you! I fed DS for 15 months in the end and I think had I not had thrush, which really slowed my healing, I wouldn't have had pain for so long but I had inverted nipples before I fed him and I really feel that didn't help.

Have a great holiday Dixiebell!

Had something which I think I could call a contraction last night and then had period cramps in the bottom of my bump all evening but nothing more in the night, although the cramping has come back since I've been up and about this morning so who knows might manage to do it myself after all.

That sounds awful ThatDamnDog and I think I'd be tempted to get it checked out. Hope you're feeling happier soon and that someone can put your mind at rest.

Ohmigod... the timing! Just had my first experience of a leaky boob. How close does this normally happen to birth??
Hee hee.... quite exciting. Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 03/09/2010 08:27

Mine started leaking at night only from 20 weeks with DS and about 30 weeks this time beaditAli. Don't think it's a sign of impending labour I'm afraid :(

beaditAli · 03/09/2010 08:37

Figured as much. Nothing will stop me being hopeful though! I bet I'll go over and he'll definitely be the size of a two year old. Shock

skyeplusbump · 03/09/2010 09:13

so, contractions for the last 3 days and nights, going nowhere...cant sleep as theyre uncomfortable but not painfull, they dont go away but dont seem to be getting any worse either,i have no idea weather this is bh,false labour or a really long latent stage, but im exausted, and starting to worry i'll be to tierd to pish him out once im in active labour...Sad

as for the leaky nipples mine leaked early last time and have been going from about 26weeks this time too...i had alot of milk with dd,the mw's were very shocked!i advise taking breast pads and comfy nighttime bra to the hostpital!Smile

sorry about the moan guys!Blush

parkj83 · 03/09/2010 10:29

Morning all,

Debs75 that's interesting to know, so maybe it is my show on its way out...

ThatDamnDog oh dear, I hope you feel a bit better soon - I second/third the advice to talk to your GP.

My milk has been quite relaxed this time round - with DS it was flooding out from about 35 weeks onwards, and I went through so many breast pads each day. This time, I've hardly needed them. I get the occasional wet feeling if my arm brushes against my nipple when getting dressed, but I'm not flooding my bras out. Not even in the bath/shower!

parkj83 · 03/09/2010 10:30

(Not that I wear bras in the shower) pmsl!

sassy34264 · 03/09/2010 10:53

cinnamon I have no routine! I just feed them on demand. Sometimes they feed straight after each other sometimes not. I have had them feeding every 3 hours but 1 and a half hour apart! (that was fun!!!) The worst is probably when they need to feed at the same time and one of them has to eat while the other is crying...........
I've not been able to feed at the same time cos of the carpal tunnel in my hands. They were still painful at first and even now they regularly go numb. And also the feeding pillow i bought wouldn't fit around me until recently. (i still look about 4 months pregnant........3 weeks later!)

Dp is very chuffed with the fact that Jacob is so good at sucking on boobs- especially since i told him that he calmed down when having his bloods taken by my rubbing his bum. That didn't go down well. Hehehehehe.

Cluds · 03/09/2010 11:44

Thank you, THANK YOU everyone for your lovely kind words about the burglary. sassy, i knew exactly what you meant!

Can't join in the leaky boobs debate as never in any of my 3 pregnancies have i experienced it. Have never been known for my huge nawks pre-pregnancy anyway, and during pregnancy the biggest they seem to get is about a b cup so maybe that's why??!
ThatDamnDog Poor you, that sounds very painful. Really hope you feel better soon. I am with everyone else about seeing your GP.

skye not long now!! Must be so annoying at night for you. Are you able to put your feet up at all during the day? You def need to try and get some peace and quiet to catch up on some sleep or at least get some sort of relaxation.
mammyG you do sound really low and down. You and I are due about the same time (I am due 20/9) so lets hold internet hands and go through this together! Try not to worry (i know, easier said than done) too much about it all. Remember that you aren't in control of your emotions at the moment (bloody pregnancy hormones!) and so this isn't really the real you! Everything will be fine.
And finally, dixie enjoy your first day on maternity leave!

Oh cluds, sorry to hear about the burglary - ive just read back the thread and missed that post... Sometimes there are so many to read when I check back on it again I struggle to keep up !

That is horrible though, hope you're okay.

Sassy, you are truly a super mum with the bf - well done!

Leaky boobs - I had none in my first 2 pregnancies and at 36 wks with this one I had one big leak (!) and since then nothing really, just oh so slightly.

Hope you feel better soon thatdamndog - sounds horrible and last thing you need right now.

I felt really pre menstrual last night and I keep thinking 'tonight must be the night' and then nothing! Had lots of bh this morning. I had been telling baby that this weekend would be perfect to come out so I don't have to worry about ds1 getting to school in the week. Please be listening baby! Grin

1 1/2 hours of 3 children sleeping and I had forgotten the childminding co-ordinator was visiting, so instead of vegging in front of the TV with junk food I have had to show her all of my documentation and talk about work :(

On top of that I totally forgot she was coming (bloody pregnancy brain) hopefully didn't look too vague when she arrived!!!!

On the same vague theme sassy34264 I knew a lady who breastfed all 3 of her daughters but couldn't understand how I could breastfeed my son, as it was too sexual Shock
Glad your DH takes some comfort in it! You must be spending a lot of time feeding, you are doing great though. I so desperately want to give this baby the same as I did DS but I know I won't have the same time to dedicate to him which is sad. At the moment I will have 4 kids under 4 for 6 hours a day, 4 days a week and although slightly less still have multiple children from 7.30-6 every day so I will be stretched to say the least! You are giving me hope though that breastfeeding will be possible!

No signs of baby appearing so far today, despite doing the school run, a walk to the park and sitting/bouncing on my ball the rest of the day. More sex tonight I think and perhaps a pineapple Grin
