Strangeways I haven't had Braxton hicks this time but had them from 16 weeks with DD. They seemed to be worse if I was dehydrated or wearing something with too tight a waist band.

Lozario · 29/09/2010 17:48

me23 thanks I had no idea I'd have less appts this time around! That's really useful.

jammiedodger2 · 29/09/2010 18:21

Another hormonal day today! am 15 weeks + and still puking so got to work and had to eat breakfast again! Really emotional meeting all morning with child bereavement charity , had to leave about half way through as it was making me cry. Very relieved another of my colleagues in the corridor having a good sob also!
Then nice visit with one of my mummies who has a poorly 20 month old and is a bit of a star and needs to be told so (I'm a health visitor). She was a bit weepy which nearly set me off again.
Then back to the office for a visit by the head of health visiting and school nursing in the whole trust who basically checked all our security measures and told me off for having patients names entered in my work diary (i'm not sure how else i'm supposed to know who I'm due to visit). No thankyou for all our hard work, we know you've been short staffed since january. Felt utterly undervalued and furious with myself for coming to work even though I was bleeding from 11-14 weeks because obviously management didn't give a stuff. That made me cry so I puked up lunch.
DH says have a glass of wine, you don't need the job that bad. Still crying because hey I'm pregnant!!! And I do love my job and care lots about my mums.
Sorry about long post but this feels like a safe place to dump!
love
jx

You sounds like you are in desperate need of a holiday jammiedodger. Maybe you could get yourself one of the babymoons I keep reading about in the pregnancy magazines. Do you a whole lot of good even if its just a weekend away. get your mind of the stressful and unappreciated job you do. On the bright side, I'm sure all your mums appreciate your time and help :)

Purplefan · 29/09/2010 19:27

Hi,
Just checking in.

Jammiedodger you sound like you are working too hard, go and have a nice soak in the bath and try to chill. I know what you mean about being emotional.. I am crying at anything at the moment!!
DH wanted to go for a ride out on his motorbike on sunday morning and I cried because I didn't want him to go!! WTF Shock

Some of you have mentioned feeling movements - I too have had that bubbly sensation and I tell you what, I so need that reassurance!!!
I have my community midwife coming round tomorrow, I am hoping I get to here my little girls heartbeat!

Still thinking of you Chickie the waiting is so hard. Stay strong xx

StrangewaysHereICome · 29/09/2010 20:37

Oh Jammie what a pants day for you. It makes me cross when people work so hard and get no recognition for it. You are not asking for the moon on a stick, just a little appreciation and thank you for all you do. It doesn't take much does it? I hope things improve for you - good HV's are worth their weight in gold Smile.

purple feeling the movements is great isn't it. Hope you get to hear your little's girls heartbeat tomorrow - another precious moment to savour.

Thanks for the reassurance pushme, and you might be right, I think I was a bit dehydrated this morning. The baby's movements are reassuring me now Smile - thanks again.

Still praying for you Chickie.

sam26oscar · 29/09/2010 21:41

srangewaysHereicome i thought i was getting Braxton Hicks but i think its when baby shifts around that my uteurus (sp) goes hard whilst it finds a new place to settle, as i can feel a shifting sensation whilst my tummy goes hard iyswim!!! Has anyone got a pre natal heartbeat monitor??? i got one from Argos only to read on instructions from 20 weeks Grr!! i have read that the angelsounds doppler is very good and very reasonable at about £18 from Amazon. The one i have is funny to listen to gurgling stomach but pants to hear any heartbeat, but then it does say from 20 and i am 18 tomorrow!!

pushmepullyou · 30/09/2010 12:18

sam I have the angelcare doppler and have been able to hear the heartbeat since about 12 weeks, might even have been 10 now I think about it. The headphones are rubbish though. It might be worth trying your argos one with some ipod headphones or similar before gining up on it completely.

Purplefan · 30/09/2010 13:38

Hi,
Just wanted to say I heard my little girls heart beat this morning and it was fab and so reassuring!! Grin

Midwife said everything felt right and sounded good. Another positive sign in this tricky pregnancy!! Yay!!

Have specialist doing a cardiac scan next weds, so will get another look at my strong little fighter then!!

Hope everyone is feeling well today. xx

chickiewoo · 30/09/2010 14:10

Purple that is fab news - you must be feeling great - what a little fighter she is - you are doing so well and I admire your strength - long may it continue.

We had fab news today too! The Fetal Medicine Unit have confirmed negative results for Downs, Edwards and Patau Syndromes - huge relief - I cried buckets, again! Have to wait about 10 days for complete results and for the risk of miscarriage to pass - but it's another hurdle we've overcome! Our DS has his 5th birthday on 9 October - so the plan is to tell him and the family our news then - fingers crossed all will continue to go well - though it won't stop me from worrying!

Welcome to all the newbies and thanks again to everyone for your love and support xx

sam26oscar · 30/09/2010 14:25

chickie thats fab news sooo happy for you Smile

purple thats great news for you too!!! just out of interest what was your little girls heartbeat rate???

would be interesting to hear those who know what sex they are having and the speed of the heartbeat!!!

Mine was 135-140 this morning which according to internet could indicate a boy???!!!

Purplefan · 30/09/2010 14:39

Chickie Huge hugs - sooo pleased for you!! x
Sam I don't know the rate of her heartbeat - midwife didn't say and I didn't think to ask. Was just relieved to hear it Smile

Muser · 30/09/2010 15:42

chickie I am so happy for you, wonderful news. And to you too purple, it's lovely hearing the heartbeat.

pushmepullyou · 30/09/2010 17:34

Yay, so happy for you both chickie and purple Grin

Oceanbreeze · 30/09/2010 18:40

Welcome to lovdy and jojo

Sorry you had a pants day yesterday jammie hope today was better!

Fantastic news Purple and Chickie both made my day Grin

So exciting for all of you feeling movements - bit early for me yet I think, am trying to squash my envy Wink

PipPipPip · 30/09/2010 18:47

Chickie I so admire your attitude: "its another hurdle we've overcome." That is an inspiring, hurdle-by-hurdle approach. Congrats on the latest news.

Purple yippee!

No news from me: so far (touching wood!) my pregnancy has been a breeze.

However, I have to agree with whoever posted recently about dreams - my dreams are full-on, psychadelic events these days. Every night I seem to take some insane journey. Last night it was all about Paris. WTF!?

1Catherine1 · 30/09/2010 19:10

Great news Chickie and Purple!

I've got my 16 week midwife check up in the morning. Not expecting anything exciting to be honest. I am currently so thankful that my pregnancy has been uneventful and normal. I love boring!

StrangewaysHereICome · 30/09/2010 19:41

Whoopee to Chickie and Purple you are both amazing. I really hope things go smoothly from now on xx

Starting to get a bit nervous for the scan next week.... won't be long before we'll be having a rush of 20 week scans here.

Oh and I had fab news today, a good friend of mine is pg too - 12 weeks now so I'll have a RL baby buddy Grin

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 30/09/2010 19:52

Great news Chickie and Purple.

I had 16 week appt today (although am nearly 18 but was away last week) and heartbeat was 150 - but I've no idea of sex so not helpful (although it is supposed to be an old wives' tale!).

I also bought an AngelSounds from Amazon (plus extra gel - it comes with one the size of airline toothpaste which does one listen) - for two big bottles and the Doppler (plus p&p) it came to just under £30 - but I love it! Have used it since 16.5 weeks and it really couldn't be clearer. Have also been able to record and email to DH as he's away.

Tummy now looking properly round - but no definite movements Envy

sam26oscar · 30/09/2010 20:19

nowpanicandfreakout when you listen to baby can you hear it when s/he kicks you away?? If so can you feel baby then?? is this your first?? i was about 18 weeks with 1st and this time about 16 but that was only a couple of times when i thought ooh i wonder!! I have only really started to feel them more regularly when i was on holiday maybe cos all i did was sit on my arse!! this week though much more definite and distinctive...it will come i promise Wink

Muser · 30/09/2010 20:34

Top tip. KY jelly or other lube works just as well with the Doppler, and cheaper than the official stuff. Plus has more uses. Heh.

Brilliant news chickie and purplefan, it must be such a relief to finally have some good news after so much worry!

I'm still feeling crap and have been off work all week with tonsillitis and a horrible cough, usually I'm too busy with 2 DD's and a full time job to worry about this pregnancy but I guess this week I've had a lot of alone time and I've decided I hate this stage of pregnancy, I have very little symptoms except for very slight nausea and as I'm only 15 weeks I won't feel any movement for another 4'ish weeks and because I am larger I don't really feel a hard bump and I am still wearing all my normal clothes and basically at the moment I don't feel pregnant which makes me worry, bring on those reassuring kicks!

pushmepullyou · 30/09/2010 21:29

Sad niamh sorry you're feeling down. I fon't really have a hard bump either, more a podgy lookin pot belly!

For those of you dopplering - bio oil works instead of the gel as well

NowPanicAndFreakOut · 30/09/2010 22:37

Thanks Sam - will have a go, although at present I think most of the weird sensations in my abdomen are digestive related Sad. Does anyone know if it is possible to use a Doppler too much? Am sure it's a really stupid question but have been limiting myself to once every other day just in case!

The midwife asked me today if I'd felt anything and I said I'd felt something that was a bit like a twitchy muscle and she agreed it probably was Blush.

Muser - great to know about alternatives for the ultrasound gel - will def save me from buying any more. Also, agree with you on maternity bras - a professional fitter and two midwives have agreed that as long as it doesn't cut into your breast tissue then underwire is fine (and I cannot bring myself to buy those stolid, ugly maternity ones...)

Sorry to everyone feeling rubbish - it should start getting better. Agree with posters on dreams - mine are psychedelic, bizarre and sometimes really scary (having never previously had nightmares of any kind, before my BFP I thought I was going mad!).

BTW has anyone seen the news that pregnant women are to get a routine flu jab?

Sorry for long post Grin
