Hi yes I think they probably do. I suppose it depends on each area but the longer course was already booked when I enquired with my son, I was only about 16 weeks I think. Why not give them a ring to see if you can reserve a place and pay later?

Muser · 28/09/2010 17:07

You can pay for the NCT course in installments. You don't need to pay all at once.

Hello all.

Random question, but any good tips for maternity bras?
Have some t-shirt ones from mothercare, but they randomly seem to make me itch on one of the seams (cue dirty look from lady next me on train back from London).

Tis quite spportive, but wondered if somenthing better out there??

Chickie - you are so brave re: test - I would be terrified of the large needle. Hope results are quick.

Larty74 · 28/09/2010 17:47

really helpful Catherine and Evian many , many thanks.

Muser · 28/09/2010 19:11

I refuse to have anything to do with maternity bras Jupiter. As long as you're properly fitted you can carry on wearing underwires. I went to Bravissimo when the norks exploded and got some new ones. Watching them carefully and if they show signs of cutting into breast tissue I will be off for new ones.

Thanks for the antenatal classes info.

In case anyone's interested, in my area the NHS classes don't actually require booking. They run 2 Saturdays every month and you just turn up. They are free. We'll probably go in Dec or Feb (though Feb maybe cutting it fine with my EDD on Feb 25th!)

I've registered my interest in the NCT classes in January (£157 here for one evening, one full Saturday, one Saturday afternoon and one breastfeeding session), so I'm waiting to here if there are spaces on that. I figure there must be as the course in Jan is designed for babies due in late Feb, March and April. The April ladies might only be about 8 weeks now, so would need a chance to book!

Jupiter I have the M&S 2 pack of maternity bras (£25). They seem fine, but I'm not wearing a particularly large size so couldn't vouch for support for the well endowed! I've gone from 34B to 36D. They are nice and soft and also have the nursing clips incase they still fit in the spring.

spilttheteaagain · 28/09/2010 19:39

One day I will learn to write a short post Blush

niamh29 · 28/09/2010 20:13

So I'm feeling very sorry for myself, my ms has just eased off in the last week (I'm 15 weeks today) and the on Sunday I get the flu, ended up at the docs today and I have tonsillitis too so I'm off work for the week and feeling absolutely yuck! It's horrible being sick when your pregnant!

pushmepullyou · 28/09/2010 20:54

Poor you niamh. I've got a sore throat myself, so I empathise!

Thinking of you chickie

Didn't manage antenatal classes last time and doesn't seem much point this time as I will probably have an ELCS. Don't have any mum and baby type social life here though so am feeling a bit concerned already as I felt very isolated last time.

Struggling with bras myself at the minute. I have a couple of hot milk nursing bras which are fab, but getting a bit long in the tooth now as I've only just stopped wearing them from breastfeeding DD.

sam26oscar · 28/09/2010 21:30

Thanks great news sam. S/he obviously approves of Holby!

Jupiter118 · 28/09/2010 22:09

Thank you for the bra tips ladies.

V exciting that Holby induced soem movement Sam - have to confess to liking Holby myself.

I then watched the scientology programme - fascinating.

Muser · 28/09/2010 22:10

Fab news sam. I bet you feel them lots now. After last night's performance I've been treated to loads more today.

PipPipPip · 28/09/2010 23:22

Scientology programme was fascinating but more importantly....WooHoo Sam!!

Larty74 · 29/09/2010 08:18

Couldn't get to sleep last night, but could have sworn I felt that bubble-bursting sensation you described Muser?? off and on for about 5 mins. but then, how do you really know??? I then proceeded to have dreams it was moving so much its you could make out the shape of its feet through my skin.

On that note, the dreaming has never in my life been so bizarre, out of this world and sometimes horrific!! I won't go into detail. Confused

JoJoB77 · 29/09/2010 09:04

Morning everyone

Hope you don't mind a latecomer to the thread?!

I've been a lurker for a while but have decided to take the plunge and join (crikey, that sounds a bit dramatic).

Anyway, I'm Jo, first baby due 30th March 2011 which makes me 14 weeks today - woop! I've finally come out the other end of the sickness and can say that I feel relatively normal. I'm just waiting for my bump now!

Pleased to virtually meet you all!

superpenguin · 29/09/2010 09:56

Hello Jo and welcome!

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences of antenatal classes. I think we will try and do both NCT and NHS.

great news about feeling movement sam too!

jeffily · 29/09/2010 10:27

Hello all

Rare day off today. DD is at nursery, DH is at work and I have the whole day to myself! So am going to buy some maternity bras (boobs have now remembered what to do when preg and seem to have grown at least 2 cup sizes in the last week! I've discovered Elle McPherson maternity bras- non wired but not hideous!), get a hair cut and frighten myself about actually having another baby by going to visit a friend with a newborn! Lovely!

Still waiting on the full results of our amnio. Generally I am ok, as I think that it is now highly unlikely that they are going to find anything, but every now and then I have a wobble and start fretting that it is still going to be bad news. I'm ready to just get on with it now, I really want all this waiting and uncertainty to be over.

Seems ludicrous to be whining about that when others are going through much worse though.

Welcome to everyone new, it's nice to be (mostly) out the sickness and starting to bloom at last!

emma31177 · 29/09/2010 12:20

hello all mummys-to-be welcome new people

please tell when is this sickness gonna stop all blody night i feel sick cant take drink eat anything to make it stop am 14weeks now and want to bloom not feel like this
never had this with ds and dd why now ....lol
but on the plus side looking foward to my gender scan on the 16th .....

am988 · 29/09/2010 13:08

Hello All,

Haven't been for ages so trying to read everything now - I did read about the NCT suggestions though and I registered my interest. Yesterday I got letter from them and they do seem pricey but on your suggestions I trust that it will be a good move. I am also hoping to meet some nice people there. Am not from this country also so.. somehow it feels harder as the system is different!

Yest I had an appointment with the Obstetrician because midwife referred me as I had a gynae operation earlier in March & some other complications - normally cases like mine woud end up as a C-Section but by some miracle it won't have to be so I'm relieved as I don't know how a cut over another cut within less than a year of each other could end up! But obstetrician still wants to see me again at 28 wks. Finally got the date for the 20-wk scan which is on 28 October.

As for sickness - mine kind of stopped after 14wks - although I do feel nauseous the odd day! And emma 3117 it also used to wake me up..

Thinking of you Chickie.. just hold on - it is hard but you are strong enough and stronger than you think.

And welcome to all mummies-to-be xx
A

StrangewaysHereICome · 29/09/2010 13:29

Hello everyone, and welcome to lovdy and jojo Smile

Is anyone getting braxton hicks yet? I had quite a few this morning and started to worry a bit. They have eased off now and I have felt the baby moving but I am surprised to get them this early. They arent painful just a bit uncomfortable. The nausea has come back too, I am tired though as my youngest keeps getting nosebleeds in the the night and then I have trouble getting back to sleep.

Sorry to moan.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 29/09/2010 14:18

Hello all

Chickie - ditto everyone else

I have to say I love holby and watched the scientology thing too.... was a bit dispointed they didnt seem to point out much tht made the "bad" bits any worse than any other religion IYSWIM. I couldnt really figure it out.

I have had 2 definite kicks/elbows etc which I could not mistake for anything else.

My next MW appointment now is not until week 28 ShockI guess it is fine as I have had twi very straightforward pregnancies but still seems ages from 16 weeks.,

Lozario · 29/09/2010 14:35

Hello all, goodness this thread moves so fast I'll never be able to respond to everyone!

15 weeks for me now and the sickness seems to have stopped - I think 15 weeks is the magic number judging from us all on here, not 12 weeks. I've started feeling the little thing grooving around in there too now and it makes it all worthwhile - I feel sooooooo much better now the puking and retching has stopped!!!! I really think there should be a morning sickness hotline you can ring, just for sympathy - it's SO awful and with one or more kids already, just impossible.

Speaking of which, my ds (15 months) has just started sleeping in until 7.30 - 8am too which is amazing; yesterday morning he and I woke at 8.30am and my dh had already gone to work!!! I was very confused for a moment.

Anyway. mixedmamameansbusiness that does seem a long time! You have the second scan in-between though do you? Wait til after 32 weeks or whatever it is when you have to see her every 3 weeks, then 2 weeks, then every week if you go overdue... I was sick of the sight of my midwife by the end of last time! I have to say though I'm sure I never went that long, 12 weeks is a long gap. Maybe she's going on holiday or something - mine only works on Tuesdays in term time!! She is lovely though.

emma31177 This time last week I was still feeling wretched and now I'm feeling much better. All of a sudden. Hang in there, it can't last forever!!!

jeffily the whole day to yourself!!!! WOW. Enjoy it. And I think everyone worries at almost every appointment whether there is something to worry about or not, so it's only natural you're concerned about the amnio results. It's the waiting that is horrible - I'm sure everything will be fine, but don't beat yourself up about worrying because it's only natural.

Thoughts and love to Chickie

And hope everyone else is doing well

Off to eat another peanut butter sandwich now before ds wakes up!

me23 · 29/09/2010 15:47

with your 2nd or subsequent pregnancy you usually only get 7 appt at 12 16 28 34 36 40 and 41. It it a long gap from 16-28 weeks though. I have my 16 week appt tomorrow I'm 15 weeks today time is going so slowly.

emma31177 · 29/09/2010 15:52

i was thinking about appts i had my 12week scan and was told that i will have my next scan then will see a mw but am sure with dd i see someone at 16weeks this is one reason i wanted to book a gender scan cause it seems a long time till i see somone again time is going so slowly wish i could sleep and wake in march .......
