Calling The Viroids - Just Shagging Graduates!

Just thought I'd start a thread for all those JS graduates, whether a newbie graduate or even if you left us a while ago and are well on your way. Would be good for us to keep in touch, see if we're all staying 'sane'. Grin

Don't know about you ladies, but I am still filled with the overwhelming urge to PIAR (that's POAS for all you older graduates - after you left us we went a little mad and started harnessing the power of the ramekin!) I think once you start the habit it doesn't leave you!

Well, it's good to know that the Just Shagging method works. Even if we did once in a while just cheat a teeny tiny little bit! Wink

Hello viroids! TTL thanks for the mocktail invite I didn't even know this existed! I am hoping I can stay here, stick bean stick!

I'm now 5 weeks tomorrow and docs appt tomorrow evening. Know not much will happen but will make it official so quite excited. I am just hoping nothing breaks at work tomorrow so I get to leave on time for a change at make it to the docs for 19:00!

I am getting paranoid about my even now expanded belly, its clearly a lot bigger already!! Slightly worried! I'm convinced its visible to all... yesterday and this might have been by chance I was chatting to colleagues and one was talking about someone they used to work with who sh*gged the boss, got her upduffed and then took her job when she went on maternity ...I said hats off to him, what a move! A woman that that works for me said 'oh no change of me getting dynababy upduffed ..I'll have to have a word with her old man'..I'm convinced she suspects even now. Growing belly and herbal tea instead of the 10 builders I usually have in the office may have given some crucial signs. I'm hoping if she has spotted no one else will ... they're all blokes and not that observent unlike us eagle eyed woman!

I am realy intrested to here how far on everyone is and when you started showing??

BB good news on the prunes!

cremegg · 18/11/2010 07:01

heya all! Ta for invite nomore.
im 5 weeks tomorrow and going to a friends on sat so will have to put TTLs tips into place! Think it will be v tough tho as may only be a few of us.
dyna didn't think it was even poss to show yet but caught sight of self in car window while petrol filling and it actually looks like my cardi has shrunk! not good, have been trying to eat mega healthy too!
So far no sickness (i know, too early!) Mum said hessien (she had espanrlles-sp!)and ciggie smoke made her puke... Hmm
yay to prunes bb
hope all are good :o

cremegg · 18/11/2010 07:03

jeez i know i put 'sp' but meant to type "espandilles" which as least looks somewhat correct!

frakkinup · 18/11/2010 07:19

Hi all!

18 + 5 (jeez where did the time go?!) and showed at 18 weeks exactly. I had weird twinge/stretch/ache all last week and it just popped on Saturday. Still fairly hideable although a colleague noticed this morning so I think this dress isn't particularly flattering!

takethatlady · 18/11/2010 08:21

Ha ha it was nmcb who threw out the invites. Thanks nmcb, I had lost this thread!

By the way, you got mentioned on the June thread bb. A few people on there knew you from another thread and knew you had had some bad luck, and there was a little moment of happiness that you had got sprogged up :)

I'm going with 8+4. Threw up last night. It was the weirdest ever. Didn't even heave - was about to brush my teeth, opened my mouth, and half my dinner came out. Weird. Puked on my toothbrush though, and DH is away and there are no spares in the house, so had to go to sleep with pukebreath.

Yes, bb, those sodding people who say you sleep better preggo than with alcohol are bloody imbeciles. I haven't woken up after 5am for weeks.

takethatlady · 18/11/2010 08:27

PS, congrats on showing frak! 18+5 - wowsers!

dynababy can't believe you're showing at 5 weeks! I'm not showing at all though the bottom of my stomach is harder and rounder. It only shows in really tight dresses and then I just look like I've bought a size too small rather than preggo. So it's easy to hide at work.

Was teaching a novel this week which is all about a woman who conceals her pregnancy and is convicted of murder when the baby dies, because she concealed it and because of an old law about concealment. The students were coming out with all sorts of stuff about pregnancy and it was so weird sitting there, concealing my own! One of them said it's possible to conceal a pregnancy to 7 months if you're 17 and have strong stomach muscles (that's what happens in the book). Shame I'm 28 with stomach muscles like spam Grin

Going to try to tell work after Christmas. I'll be 12 weeks at the end of term so I could tell them then, but what are they going to do about it over the Christmas vac? Might as well wait until I go back. What are other people doing?

frakkinup · 18/11/2010 10:45

I think it is possible with strong stomach muscles to get to about 28 weeks. And if you're careful about your clothes!

Hate to say it but at 5 weeks it's more likely to be constipation/bloating! I had moments around 9/10 weeks where I thought I was showing but it would, ahem, deflate once measures were taken. Or you might be much further along Grin

BrassicaBabe · 18/11/2010 11:10

I can't decide if my big tummy is a pro or a con in this preggo game. My weight does yo-yo, but I've kept it reasonable for the last couple of years now. Am a size 12 which is as small as I'm ever going to get. Grin But my tummy is the worst bit of me. I'm "apple" without being overweight iyswim. So I reckon I can hide my "condition" for quite some time Hmm

Ah, nice to get noticed takethat. That's kind.

Dunno about you guys but I'm dying to tell someone. Anyone! I need to talk about it to make it real in my head. But at 4+4 I need to keep quiet for rather longer!

takethatlady · 18/11/2010 11:47

We told family at 5+5, mainly because it was getting impossible to hide the drinking, and I've just told our closest uni friends because I'm going to visit them this weekend and they know we're ttc and all the chat about the weekend is about how drunk I'm going to get Grin I knew they'd guess within two seconds so I thought I might as well tell (so that's 8+4).

Am going out to celebrate a friend's exam results tomorrow and I know she's going to expect muchos wine consumption. Am going to try to get away with it but might crack.

Wish I could have held out until next week's scan though. One week to go!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 18/11/2010 12:41

Hello new viroid graduates, I thought the offer of pretend alcoholic drinks would help draw a crowd. Grin

Apparently Salt and Vinegar chips are not repulsive to me! Just as well I've lost weight the last few weeks, cause at this rate I'll be piling it all back on again.

Sadly I have one of those post baby saggy bellies. Annoyingly the bottom half is tight and lovely, then the top half up to the belly button is a saggy mess. Tight bottom bit is slowly getting harder and rounder, but not enough to show yet.

Frak! You're nearly half way there! Blimey. How are you holding up? I saw a post from you on another thread, hope you're coping.

frakkinup · 18/11/2010 15:29

TBH we've still managed to keep it pretty quiet. I had to delete a comment on FB earlier Blush

Part of me doesn't want to tell people, is that strange? DH had to persuade me to tell family but I liked it being our delicious little secret.

takethatlady · 19/11/2010 11:31

frak all that fb stuff is so annoying, isn't it? When I had my cp in August my stepbrother had obviously heard I was pregnant but not heard that I'd lost it, and went on my wall and said 'Congratulations to you and DH on the baby news' or some such thing. We hadn't told anybody else, there are loads of people on facebook I wouldn't want to know until after 12 weeks, and I'd already lost it by the time he posted.

I didn't say anything because I knew it was well-intentioned, and then it vanished the next day. My dad since told me he told him off about it. Feel bad for him but Shock

Defo NOT announcing it on fb or putting my scan pic as my profile pic or anything. Don't have anything against people that do - but I'd feel weird.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/11/2010 10:08

Oh I agree that fb profile pics of scans are weird. I may one day post something like NMCB has a bun in the oven and leave it at that. I'll see.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/11/2010 10:44
Bear
BrassicaBabe · 20/11/2010 11:22

Morning all.

I actually managed to not POAS one day this week. But then got out my posh digi test to PO this morning. It said 3+ weeks. Yeah!

I've got my 1st doc appointment on Friday. Bearing in mind how crap slack my surgery is, can you help me make a list of the questions I need to ask and what I should expect? As I'm 37 I want to make sure I get the right tests at the right stage. I believe some of the tests need to be done before 12 weeks which seems to be the usual NHS scan date?

frakkinup · 20/11/2010 11:32

Ask your surgery what is standard and the timeline, then emphasise your age and ask the doctor/midwife whether there are any additional tests you should consider.

I only had a blood screen to check for HCG, blood type, red/white blood cell count and platelets, toxoplasmosis, HIV, hep B and a couple of other things before I went for my first ob/gyn apt at 12 weeks and they did the NT test then at the scan and gave me the forms for the triple screen (and additional toxoplasmosis Hmm) to be done before 16 weeks. That said I'm very slack on tests....

I'd also ask things about whether you need to book in at hospitals or MLUs quickly, what arrangements would be for a homebirth (if you're interested) and whether there's anything else that in their experience needs to be sorted quickly. It seems to vary from are to area.

cowboylover · 20/11/2010 19:27

BrassicaBabe I did not have anything except a scan at 12 weeks and now at 15 weeks I am having blood tests so I dont think there is anything they need to do before. The wait before the 1st appointment seams to take for ages and then now I dont need to go again til 12 weeks I am again going through that lull in the middle. This pregnancy game feels like a lot of waiting!

I was deleting stuff off FB as peps kept commenting but as a close friend of ours had just had a still birth so it really didnt feel right. Now she is a bit happier and supporting us I put my status as looking forward to having a little one in the house soon.

I am getting really excited now and starting to feel better! And more energy Grin

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/11/2010 20:14

Coyboy! Long time no see, good to have you back.

BB my experience is that the Dr's are somewhat useless because it's not really their job, but the midwives are really helpful and should go through all the options with you (roll up your sleeves and say bye bye to several vials of the red stuff!)

BrassicaBabe · 21/11/2010 11:43

Hiya cowboy. Not getting a scan until 12 weeks is one of the things I'm worried about. I'm sure some of the tests need to be done at 8-10 weeks and being a old giffer bit older I don't want to miss the boat. Hmm

I'm sure I've had half those blood test recently. I'd like to think that the fertility clinic has shared the results with GP. But I know that kind of joined up thinking is bloody unlikely Hmm

Stocked up on more alcohol free wine today....

Made it to 5 weeks today. Fingers crossed it's still sticking! Grin

frakkinup · 21/11/2010 13:07

Nothing can be done at 8-10 weeks with any accuracy. The earliest you can actually see anything clearly is 10 weeks and even then my scan was fuzzy so I was told to come back in 3 weeks.

Early pregnancy scans are just to check that it's still sticking/in the right place/whether there's the start of a heartbeat (probably not before 7 weeks). 8-10 would be blood work if anything for the HCG peak and even then they can't tell you much.

Don't worry :) Even here, which has to be one of the countries on earth where they test you most during the course of your pregnancy it doesn't start before 3 months!

CVS can be done at 9-11 weeks but that's riskier than amnio (we were offered it because of family history and declined). You might be offered is being over 35 but the risk of miscarriage for us was too high and there are very few conditions we would consider termination for. It depends on your personal beliefs whether you want to ask about that.

cowboylover · 21/11/2010 17:30

Will try harder to keep in touch with you girls with differing baby bumps!

BrassicaBabe I hope you will be able to get some good support soon as now I am seeing the consultants and my care has really kiced in I suppose they are great. I remember for the tread that you had lots to do to get this far so I am sure they will look after you well x

I feel so rubbish today I am already in bed and I think only a Twilight film session will make me better Smile

Dynababy · 22/11/2010 19:46

Hey viroids!! Reading all your comments i know your right the bean isn't even the size of a bean yet (i'm 5+4 today)! I think i'm paranoid as someone mentioned getting me up the stick at work just seemed like a massive coincidence..maybe it the 'erbal tea giving me away. mt stomach is defo bigger but as you say its likely to be a bit of bloating definately longer between no. 2's now although wouldn't say i'm massively constipated.

I ended up telling my mum on sat though when she pointed at my stomach and asked me if i'd put on weight!! Not a great opening but she would not be silenced on the subject of stomach growth so i blurted it out..it worked she stopped focusing on weight gain and cried!! I think I probably have put on a few pounds recently as was away with work eatinbg in hotels then on holiday..oh well rrsigned to it getting worse but trying to be healthy and eat the right things.

NMCB thanks for invite and sorry fr mixing up with TTL.

TTL poor you being sick on toothbrush..bah!! I was wondering if someone could tell me when you normally get morning sickness. I have been feeling a bit sick when i'm hungry but not been sick. I'm hoping to avoid it but could it be lurking just round the corner!? When do HCG levels start to plateau?

BB yay for sticky beans, lets keep everything crossed for all of us! On the subject of the doc I went a bit blank on quetsions and just asked if it was dangerous to work overnight (as I do oncall as part of my job).. I left not even knowing when a midwife would be in touch, the doc said they would be and I wish I knew when! Blush

Super glue to all! x

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 23/11/2010 11:26

The sun is shining in through my front window and DS is watching Robots (again). Now as long as DH is out I can happily sit here getting my dose of vitamin D with out doing a thing. Bliss.

Dyna, you're welcome. Things start to plateau around the end of the first trimester. Being hungry can def make you feel sick so eating a little often can be a big help. Otherwise the whole ms thing is different for everyone.

Now I just need to get me some tissues

takethatlady · 24/11/2010 08:37

Hello ladies,

How is everyone? I think darkstar will be joining us over here soon!

Good luck for the docs on Friday brassica :)

My ms is going into overdrive now. I think I read somewhere that it peaks at 8-10 weeks and I'm 9+3, I think, so I'm praying that it'll start to get better soon. Can't keep anything down and had to leave work early yesterday because I puked on the way to a class and felt so dodgy when I got there I thought I might puke on a student. So I just gave them their essays back and told them they had a week off. They were ecstatic, so I don't feel too guilty.

Got blood tests at 9.30 and my scan tomorrow. Can't WAIT for the scan.

Right, had breakfast an hour ago and it's the toilet bowl is calling me again ...

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/11/2010 12:47

No puking here, but guts have gone into overdrive. Just unsuccesfully chased DH around town (the one day his phone is out of action!) and came home again because the tummy twinges are telling me not to go to far from the loo. I'm either doing nothing at all for days on end or I'm doing it all in a rush. I hate this part.
