Calling The Viroids - Just Shagging Graduates!

gormers · 13/08/2010 19:57

Just thought I'd start a thread for all those JS graduates, whether a newbie graduate or even if you left us a while ago and are well on your way. Would be good for us to keep in touch, see if we're all staying 'sane'. Grin

Don't know about you ladies, but I am still filled with the overwhelming urge to PIAR (that's POAS for all you older graduates - after you left us we went a little mad and started harnessing the power of the ramekin!) I think once you start the habit it doesn't leave you!

Well, it's good to know that the Just Shagging method works. Even if we did once in a while just cheat a teeny tiny little bit! Wink

You're not on your own with the copious consumption of chocolate Gormers, b feeding requires many calories I find.
It is weird to look back on the ttc days while sitting here with a little person on your lap. Definitely more than worth it Smile.
looking forward to hearing about more js arrivals

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 02/03/2011 13:36

Hello to Fuzzywood it's nice to hear from a JS'er who was knocked up so long ago you wouldn't know what a viroid is Grin.
And TTL did you miss OnlyWantsOne's live birth thread ages and ages ago?! I think Fuzzy and Gormers must have some other popped JSer friends out there.

Well I managed to not eat the whole packet of fudge last night and actually let DH have a couple of pieces. However am now eyeing up the bar of choc in the cupboard that is supposed to be for DS's birthday cake this weekend. Hmm as DH would point out I still have time to buy more....

Oh god no. Eating and breastfeeding. I'm trying very hard not to remember that part. Ever since bfing DS I am not able to eat a meal slowly as I was always having to bolt my food down before he cried again (he was uncanny about food even then...) and sadly the habit stuck. It was worth it though, honest Grin.

Mmm pass those biscuits over here...

Deemented don't run away .... do you have news for us???? Grin A November baby perhaps?? Grin

I had my 20 week scan yesterday ...and found out I'm have a very wriggly and healthy little baby BOY!

Must start whittling the boy name list down!! At the moment we're thinking Thomas or Oscar but need to think mre before finalising ..then there is middle names too..phew! OOOhh and for the second time in one week this thread has influenced by food choices - starving post scan I was about to walk pasta Greggs when I had to go back and purchase a steak bake yuuuummmster! Its obv what the wee boy wanted ha ha ha!!

knockedout · 03/03/2011 20:13

Hello ladies! I used to be a JSer back in the day (almostknockedupgirl) when we first embarked on this whole procreating business (June last year! How time flies), but stopped hanging out on MN when the repeated disappointments/cps became too much. Am now more knocked up than I've managed to be so far (4 + 3 and feeling it!), and stumbled across this thread while looking for my Nov bus. So nice to see the JSers still going, and so many of you happily with bump/baby. :)

cowboylover · 03/03/2011 20:15

Fuzzywood - Congratulations and welcome to Evan!! Really nice to have to graduate to Mummys x

Dynababy - I think those names but I have to say I dont have any middle names for our future DD but dont think we will have any.

I am now in the permanently hungry club after doing so well in not putting on weight so making sure I am being good and having the right things and keeeping away from crisps and biscuits before I am even more huge!

Baby2b · 03/03/2011 20:56

Hello, Starting to feel more social so coming out of lurking. Think I have been a little depressed, but feeling more positive about everything now.

Had a delivery from asos maternity today, very exciting trying new clothes on. Still look like I just have a bit of a beer belly though :) Still trying to get used to everyone feeling like they can comment on my size Hmm

Have any of you had really stupid things said to you? My surprisingly frequent one is people asking when I'm due and then proceeding to give a sad look and say,'oh, an august baby'. Had a women telling me today that it was a shame my child would be the youngest at school and therefore not do as well. The baby will also be the last to do everything like drive (more sad looks) Shock

Congrats to Deemented and knockedup

Hello and welcome back Knockedup, lots of sticky stuff your way Grin. And deemented come back! It seems you have something to tell us...Grin

I'm so fecking hungry. Food doesn't seem to help. And after yesterdays chocolate and milk fest I'm having to go dairy free for a couple of days so that mint choc chip icecream in the freezer is out of bounds Sad

takethatlady · 04/03/2011 12:45

I missed that thread nomore! I've never been on a live birth thread though I've read a couple through and they look fun Grin

dynababy a boy! Congratulations! Both your names sound lovely :) deemented get back here and give us your gossip Grin I am rapidly losing my social life to my bump and I need the vicarious thrill of other people's lives on MN to keep me going --- are you updiffed? I just ate a load of wine gums knockedout, and I've still got half a bag left. If you lick them you can use them to stick your LO in :) Congratulations!

baby2b I've had that one with a June baby Hmm. Bit bonkers. Plenty of August babies at Oxbridge, as far as I'm aware, and maybe you're not training your child to be a brainiac before it's out of the womb anyway! At least when they've done their exams our babies will be able to go for beach parties and barbeques and get happily trolleyed for their birthdays :)

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 04/03/2011 16:24

Current Bun is due last day of term (Scotland see) so while it's little I'll be able to celebrate it's birthday in a summery, BBQey, trolleyed style, then when it's at Oxbridge, well I've been to Uni, I just won't ask question Grin.
Hmm strange way to reassure someone, sorry B2B! You're LO is going to be an adorable, squigey bundle of love, no matter what month it's born in.

Baby2b · 04/03/2011 20:47

Takethat I think it is very bonkers. Grin I said I thought it was a bit early to judge my childs academic ability in a joking way, but she was having none of it, lol. If I was braver it could have been a topic for AIBU.

Nomore love the logic on the trolleyed style birthday bashes! One of the most outragous parties I have been to was a first birthday party (disclaimer: Grandma took birthday girl home with her at 7pm).

Anyone got anything more exciting planned than a trip to the movies this weekend? Other half wants to go and see True Grit.

knockedout · 04/03/2011 22:53

Thanks for the sticky wishes, ladies! Much appreciated. Still pregnant today, so they're working! :)

You've opened my eyes to hours of new entertainment by mentioning live birth threads. Guess I know where my evenings next week are going!

Baby2b we're going to Ikea. Living large, us! Although, I'm blatantly going to head over to the baby stuff section for a sneak peek, so a more exciting trip than usual.

I think I will sidle back in here if you ladies'll have me. It's much cosier than elsewhere. I'll be sure to bring cake next time. And I guess I'm the first Nov EDD? 7/11/11

deemented · 05/03/2011 08:13

Yes, i am indeed upduffed!!! Grin EDD 08/11/11. Still very early days but symptoms hitting me well. Had lots of nausea yesterday morning, and actually got sick yesterday evening - fun fun!!

Baby2b · 05/03/2011 21:59

Had my first night out for ages. Ok, I'm home by 10pm...but had a nice meal and happily watched my friends get sloshed on red wine :) I figure I am now only missing the part of the night where they repeat their conversations, only louder!

Did you see anything good at ikea in the baby section knockedup?

Deemented I found eating little and often helped with the nausea. Very good sign for it being early days. I barely had any symptoms until 7 weeks.

takethatlady · 06/03/2011 15:40

Congratulations deemented, brilliant news! I can't believe you're due in November!
My God I've got to start recognising that this baby is actually going to be born. And soon. Eeeeeeeeeeeeeek!!!!!

Anyone else feeling like freaking out?! I am very excited but WTF I'm meant to do with a baby I don't know Grin Shock Blush!!

Just spent £70 Clubcard vouchers on a baby bouncer, some newborn socks, and an electric steriliser and bottles. Yesterday we bought a changing mat, some towels to go on it, and a babygro. Apart from the nursery furniture we haven't paid for yet, that is the sum total of all the baby stuff we have. 24 weeks today so I'm telling myself there's time, there's time, there's time .......

THERE'S NO TIME!!!!!!!!!!!

takethatlady · 06/03/2011 15:45

Ooooh PS baby2b glad you had a nice night out. I am going on a pub crawl for DH's birthday next weekend. As we're starting early in the afternoon I'm hoping we'll finish by midnight and everyone will be too trashed to want to go to a club - last time we went for a big night out it was great until about 11pm but after that I ended up squashed up against the wall on the edge of a sweaty dance floor with one SIL ranting on about a man who had accidentally offended her outside the toilets, another SIL losing her bag and crying for about two hours over it (and then finding it where she'd originally put it), and DH making friends with a load of students from France and spending the whole night trying to speak to them over the drunkenness and language barrier Grin. So you're right, early hometimes give you the best bit of the night and get you out of the bits you'd only enjoy after two bottles of wine :)

cowboylover · 06/03/2011 17:34

Congatulations deementer!

I love the Ikea kids stuff with the bright colours ect but I dont think I am brave enough so the nursery has very muted pale green colours. I think I am going to get the furniture from there tho; I think the dark wood range and soooo much cheaper than anywhere else.

Takethat: I think I am the same, my friend came into the office with her 4 week old and everyone was saying did it make it more real for me and honestly no it didnt as I still dont seam to be connecting the 2. Bump is big and kicking but I still cant imagine a baby in the house! Brain is like jelly and I keep thinking of the wrong things like last night I said to DH we need to get those scocket cover things so she cant stick her fingers in and he reminded me that she wont be moving for a while Blush

Baby2b · 06/03/2011 17:51

Takethat and cowboylover I am freaking out daily. I keep thinking I know nothing and don't even know where to start with the shopping. For instance, if you are going to give breastfeeding 'a go', should you still buy all the bottles and accessories just incase? I really need to buy a post pregnancy book that has a checklist of things to do/buy with a timeline of importance .

deemented · 06/03/2011 18:15

Baby2b - i've been breastfeeding constantly for nearly three years (two different children) and at first i bought all the bottles and sterilisers, just in case. I ended up selling them on ebay, and then when i was pregnant with DS3 i didn't bother buying anything. TBH i think if you're serious about giving breastfeeding a good go, then i wouldn't buy anything like that in. It's all too easy to decide at three am that you'll just give them one bottle, and it goes from there. And if it's a case that you do end up at three am wanting to give them a bottle, well, most supermarkets are 24hours so you can always get what you need.

takethatlady · 06/03/2011 18:22

Glad to know other people are struggling to take it seriously think it's all actually real :)

deemented that's interesting - I read people saying the opposite which is why I just bought the steriliser Grin. Don't you need bottles/sterilisers if you express milk? Also one of the very few people we know with babies said that with their 2nd and 3rd children they used formula for the last feed at night and breastfeeding for all the other feeds because it filled the baby up and meant they all got a good night's sleep. They didn't say we should do this, just that a mixture happened to work for them - so I kind of thought it would be good to have both options to hand. I've got another friend who ended up very very stressed and upset because 4 weeks in her baby was losing weight rapidly and the doctor all but told her to switch to formula milk. So I figured that no matter how much I try to breastfeed it might not work all the time! I suspect I am completely wrong about this ha ha.

baby2b me too. Baby bump expanding at a rate of knots and baby kicking, but I forget I'm pregnant all the time. I just feel like 'oh, my body has decided to grow and pulsate occasionally. That's fine, I'll just carry on like a big throbbing blob' and not like 'that's a baby in there and it's coming out!' (Or maybe the latter position is starting to sink in, hence this discussion LOL)

deemented · 06/03/2011 19:24

TBH I just concentrate on getting BF established beforfe i even contemplate expressing. And not all babies will take EBM either - DS3 is case in point. He's nearly 14 months and will not drink from anything other than me. I have tried everything. Doidys sippys straws sports bottles - he just wants it straight from the source Smile One thing i would say when it comes to BF - if you ever reach a point wherre you're having problems or issues, and you really want to give up, set yourself a limit for a weeks time and if things are still as bad then you can give up knowing that at least you tried. I've been close to that limit lots of times. Also make use of resources - LLL, your local breastfeeding network - go to groups and meet other mums, Kellymom is good too. And don't forget MN Smile

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 06/03/2011 19:48

Ahh no knockedout. Have this huge bag of sticky baby dust to sprinkle on everything. Hope we see you back here soon (maybe with our first December baby!) xx

deemented congrats and welcome.
I was typing something about breast feeding, but it felt waffly so am leaving it. Dee's advice is good though.

Baby2b · 06/03/2011 21:20

deemented think that makes sense. I can see myself being knackered and giving in if the option is there. I'm going to give it my best and if it doesn't work not beat myself up about it. To be honest I can't get my head around the fact that my tiny bossom is going to be able to sustain a baby. I hadn't even thought about expressing ttl

BrassicaBabe · 07/03/2011 09:35

Sorry you were only a short passenger knocked. I'm sure you'll be back soon, but in the meantime, look after yourself.

Welcome deemented

Well, I've been shopping! Big time! It's quicker to tell you what I've not bought than what I've bought! I went first to Kiddicare in Peterborough for the bulk of the stuff then stopped off at Adsa on the way home (usually hate Asda I'm afriad) to buy packs of basic baby clothes and piles of cheap towels and flannels (great for using on changing mats and wiping bums I'm told. The only things I have left to buy now are the pushchair, curtains/blackouts and nursery furniture. Not bad eh?!

My sister put together a shopping list for me. I can post it/e-mail it if anyone fancies?

Hope everyone had a good weekend. The sun is actually shining here today!
