Calling The Viroids - Just Shagging Graduates!

gormers · 13/08/2010 19:57

Just thought I'd start a thread for all those JS graduates, whether a newbie graduate or even if you left us a while ago and are well on your way. Would be good for us to keep in touch, see if we're all staying 'sane'. Grin

Don't know about you ladies, but I am still filled with the overwhelming urge to PIAR (that's POAS for all you older graduates - after you left us we went a little mad and started harnessing the power of the ramekin!) I think once you start the habit it doesn't leave you!

Well, it's good to know that the Just Shagging method works. Even if we did once in a while just cheat a teeny tiny little bit! Wink

I went for under bump jeans with the adjustable tags. sadly I bought a side to large as I have a hellish time with jeans normally (my thighs are a size larger than the rest of me) so i'm suffering the fally down jeans thing. It doesn't help that when I go out with my SPD belt on they nearly fall off because it squeezes me in so much.

I had odd dreams last night and woke up twice. Sadly nothing exciting or sexual, just annoying. If Gilmore Girls weren't on I'd be in bed right now.

Hope the Dr helped you out Esk.

BB yes I've been known to tryignoring the midnight loo call. If I get up I' know I'll stay awake for ages, if I don't there's a chance I'll go back to uncomfortable sleep

takethatlady · 19/01/2011 11:06

Oh yes, on weight gain. It's really hard to turn your normal brain off when you're pregnant and just go with the flow, isn't it?

What appears to be happening to me is that after years of watching what I eat and exercising (well, a bit) and making sure I don't put on too much weight, I have now spent 17 weeks mainly eating chocolate on the sofa and being pregnant and have only put on a few measly pounds. If I wasn't pregnant, I would have put on about a stone by now!

I also have thighs a size larger than the rest of me nomore. I like to think it's because I'm a woman and therefore not shaped like a goalpost, and that jeans manufacturers are a bunch of weirdy men who've never seen a proper woman's body before Grin. I have quite a few dresses which look like they fit beautifully but have actually forced me to perfect a sexy duck-waddling sort of a walk ... well, I think it's sexy anyway Hmm

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 19/01/2011 11:22

Grin sounds like you've been practicing for late pregnancy there TTL, with the duck waddling (this from the girl who hobbles on a bad SPD day).

milanomum · 19/01/2011 18:45

Hello ladies!
Vallinna how are you getting on? good luck for tomorrow's scan. You poor thing, this stress is all you need!
ESK you must be feeling awful -hope you get over this bug soon!

I have been looking at New Look and Next online too for maternity stuff. To be honest, I've got a pair of lovely dark maternity jeans which I lived in with no.1 and would definitely recommend getting (mat jeans that is) and am going to hopefully just get a few dresses and smock-type things to wear with leggings and layer up with cardis until it gets warm

I had my 12-week scan yesterday Grin (I'm 11+4 )and I got a wave Smile. everything was just fine and measuring spot-on so I am trying to relax. Have nuchal next wed to 'look forward to'...

Eskarina · 20/01/2011 10:36

Congrats on the scan milano Must be such a relief to see everything is OK.

Vallinna How are things? Let us know how you get on at your scan today.

I'm over 1/2 way through my 48 hours starvation. Woke thismorning without the runs (so far!) but have been throwing up. So not much better really, though I think thatt's morning sickness rather than bug [hopeful]. The one good thing is that all the cramps and pains have stopped, so I think that must have been gut related.

I have a confession to make. Having lost weight during pg so far I bought maternity clothes yesterday Blush. JoJoMaman have a fab sale going on and I got a dress and a smock top for £13 with free postage (with MN code) then on to Vertbaudet for 2 woolly dresses.
DH laughed at me Sad and asked was it just because he can't really tell me off for spending money at the moment given I'm so ill! (Not that it's a problem, before someone from AIBU wanders over and tells me he's controlling and abusive or something!!)

vallinnapod · 20/01/2011 11:59

Just back from scan today, all doing well. we're 7 weeks, 8.7mm and even got to hear the heartbeat - pretty damn awesome!

Clot still lurking so could be some more bleeding. Back in two weeks for another (thankfully - not sure I could have lasted the 5 weeks until my 12 week scan!)

Milano - nice to hear your bub is performing on cue!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/01/2011 13:02

Big soppy hormone induced Grin (rahter than a normal happy for you one) Vallinna and Milano. And hurray for some rear end respite for you Esk.

My JojoMaman top arrived today Esk. It only cost me £4.50 in the sale with the MN code. Down from £26 so quite happy with myself. No I just need some where nice to wear it.

milanomum · 20/01/2011 21:54

Yey Vallina!!! I was just popping in to check up on you!

Esk glad things seem to be improving...Hmm

What MN code??!! I want cheap clothes too!!!

Got2Dance · 20/01/2011 23:40

Hey you lot. Like Nelly I wanted to come say hi and just see how you were all doing. I was kinda worried about Vallinna so delighted that you got to hear the heartbeat today.
And Milano you got a wave. Wow!
Glad TTL is still having weird and wonderful dreams (I did last night, btw - really nasty, anyway). S
orry you're having such a rotten time Esk and BB did you post those pee sticks?! Grin
Baby2b really good that things are going well this time.
And to dyna cremegg (gosh - it's that season again soon! Yum!) and NMCB. Is darkstar moved over?

Ok, best shuffle back to where I belong.

to one and all and really hope I can join you sometime soon!

Miff

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/01/2011 10:20

Hope we see you (and all the other viroids) here soon Miffss G2D. No sign of Darkstar though. Think she's taken a wrong turn and gotten lost on the way. Hmm

Stood on the scales this morning and apparently even with all the food I've be munching the last couple of weeks I'm still about 4kgs lighter than I was when I got knocked up! At 1 day off 19 weeks how is that possible?! And of course having mentioned food I'm now absolutely starving! Ohh and Mr Maker just drew a lush looking sandwhich. Good (dangerous?!) thing I'm going to the shop a bit later.

takethatlady · 21/01/2011 11:56

Yay vallinna for your scan what a relief .. and at least you know if there' more bleeding it's likely no problem (fingers crossed there won't be). Hope you're doing okay esk and a big hellloooo there to the ladies from the other thread. Drop in any time!

Enjoy your pregnancy slimness nmcb. I went to meet old colleagues/friends for a meal and drinks last night, which was lovely, except the crazy tactless evangelical one (who asked me if it was planned in front of a whole room of people before Christmas) came out with the following gems:

  1. Oh my goodness ttl, I thought you'd look pregnant by now, but you don't, you just look fat! When I said 'don't say that' she said 'no that's a good thing, isn't it? You don't actually want to look pregnant, do you? It's much better just to look a bit podgy. I'd just think you'd eaten too much at Christmas if I didn't know' Hmm
  1. When you give birth your husband is supposed to buy you a ring. . No, haven't you heard of this? You've fulfilled your contractual obligation - you know, you've given him an heir, so it's only right he should reward you Shock!!!
  1. I would like children now but it's not like you can put them in a kennel or something when you're busy is it? No seriously, we're thinking of getting a dog, but if I realised I couldn't take care of the dog I could sell it or give it away, but you can't do that with a child can you?
  1. If the baby is born when you come to my wedding, if it cries you have to take it outside because otherwise people won't be focusing on me.

Honestly, all this with not even a hint of irony. Totally serious. Nutbag!!!

vallinnapod · 21/01/2011 14:17

Yeah, TTL too funny. Everyone knows you just take them back when you're bored with them!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/01/2011 14:54

A classic example of why some people should just never have children there TTL!

The good news is I made it through tesco with out buying any peanut M&Ms (choc want of the day), and I now have enough ingredients to make sushi when DH gets home in 2 nights, even if I do fuck up again. Grin

vallinnapod · 21/01/2011 15:30

my aversion to other people's kids is still strong Blush I hope I don't eat my young....

NMCB - you have not truly satisfied your cravings until you have indulged in a share bag of rice crispies M&Ms....my fave!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/01/2011 17:36

They were mine too, but last time I ate them, they just seemed .. wrong. Now everytime I see peanut ones my brain gets side tracked.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/01/2011 20:17

Milano meant to say have a look at the top of the page and click on the discounts link.

Just watching Relocation down under and slightly missing dirty ol'Melbourne. So much warmth and sunshine.

Also looking a the American Apparel maternity range. Not to sure they understand what maternity means?! Hmm

takethatlady · 22/01/2011 08:29

Grin about the American Apparel maternity range ... I clicked through from Google though, and on the first page it said something like 'We don't have a maternity line at present, but many of our clothes are made of stretchy fabrics. Please click the maternity link to see our suggestions'.

Their suggestions would be fine if I was 18, a size 6, and had never so much as sneezed near a baby! I'm sure it'll look lovely when I wear the skin tight red minidress at 8 months pregnant and the bump stretches it so much that the front of the dress barely reaches my crotch Grin

vallinnapod · 22/01/2011 19:14

Yeeessss...American Apparel, not for actually woman! I am a size 10 and have to buy large there pre-PG...maybe they mean give in and buy the men's stuff!

Trying to resist mat clothes, nursery items and baby clothes. I was better anxious! Although I refuse to buy anything until at least my 20 week scan when we are pretty much safe as I don't want to jinx anything.

I did, however, pay for my early pregnancy, ante and post natal NCT...bloody extortionate! I hope it's transferable as we put our flat on the market this week and have no idea where we'll end up Grin

Hope all is good with everyone. I am feeling nice and zen today. Off to the Strictly tour tomorrow!!

Dynababy · 22/01/2011 19:27

Ohhh Vallina that's spooky I've just come off the NCT site .. and emailing them to book ante natal classes! Don't think I'll bother with early preg ones but may consider post-natal see how the ante ones go!!

I'm feeling particularly preg today what with that and buying maternity jeans today ... I can't tell you how blissful it is to have no button etc digging in ...ahhhhhhhh Grin

I also had a sneaky look in mamas and papas, I was looking for clothes but stumbled into the bedroom sets etc... made me believe I'm actually going to have a baby - its slowly sinking in that that's whats going to happen ..slow on the uptake or what!! For some reason its taking me ages to get my head around it and think its real Blush I am not going to buy anything until much later though, still nice looking!

Esk glad your feeling better.

to everyone else including miffs and NN ... hope your leaping over soon!

Off out now for dinner and the flicks. Have a great weekend viroids!

vallinnapod · 22/01/2011 19:36

LOL dyna I think those of us having #1 sort of throw the kitchen sink at it!

I too have been mooning over nursery furniture. Thankfully living in a small 1 bed I cannot covertly purchase anything! Although DH is as bad. Nearly bought cotbed as it was in the sale....

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 22/01/2011 19:44

Don't throw the sink at the baby Vallinna bath the baby in it instead! Grin
I have to go to Mothercare tomorrow as have bought mat swimming togs and want to play with the push chair I like the look of. Wish me luck on only coming out with my order! (there is no MC here, so making the most of a trip out of town).

Enjoy your dinner and movie Dyna

vallinnapod · 24/01/2011 09:56

Anyone having massive food aversions? My cravings are anything salty/vinegary (crisps and pickles - avoiding the former!), meat by the carcass load and mint choc chip ice cream (also avoiding!) As you can see from the 'avoiding' these aren't life or death cravings but my aversions are! I am a bit of a health nut but to be honest the thought of salad, especially beetroot (can barely type it) makes me really BLURGH! Plus any veg other that green stuff. Not even that tempted by fruit. Find this very strange, although a strong indicator that 50% of this baby is definitely DH's Grin

Eskarina · 24/01/2011 20:24

I'm with you on the craving anything salty (well, I am now I can keep food in again) and a couple of weeks ago I couldn't get enough orange juice ice lollies! Also finding I am ambivalent (at best) towards fruit and veg.

Good news is that bug seems to finally have gone. I've been off work again today (and had my first true bout of morning sickness Hmm just what I wanted.) but am going back tomorrow Smile. Lots of new children have started in the week I've been off, so it's straight in to the deep end to work out what they've all been doing for the last week. I'm ridiculously tired though, contemplating going to bed now so that I can get a good 10 hours of sleep in tonight!

I'm also getting scared about 12 week scan on Friday. What if there's something wrong? What if there's nothing there? Or if this hideous tummy bug has done something nasty? Also have agreed to have the nuchal scan done and am now worrying about what that will bring (rather irrational as am 29 and have no history of Downs in either family)

I also may be getting a little obsessed by the thought of maternity clothes. I'm starting to get a little bump (could be bloating!), but am easily fitting into own clothes ATM. I did buy some normal clothes that are a bit loose today - floaty tops, as I now realise that all my clothes are quite fitted* and make any bump v obvious

*not in a tarty way! I'm very conservative in dress honest!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/01/2011 22:15

Bring on the fruit and veg over here! Have just discovered I could murder some kiwi fruit. I usually buy them and not actually eat them, but had some in a fruit salad and YUM!! I would love some feijoas, but no one even knows what they are over here Sad
I can't stand the thought of pasta, haggis and other red meat still has me feeling a bit meh.

I did finally manage to make sushi tonight though and despite eating heaps of the stuff, I could go another troughful helping.

Oh and I only bought a couple of grow suits at mothercare for the baby. I was very restrained Grin. They didn't have the pushchair I wanted to look at, so I'm going to have to take DS on the train again and go to a different one with a bigger range (DS is mad about trains so it's all good)

Yay for being well again Esk. Don't you love how ms just turns up whenever you want it the least?!
