HI all, hope you all have relaxing weekends...

Munz, I breastfed my DS for 6 1/2 mths and for most of that I gave him a bottle (of Aptimil !!!!??)last thing at night...it didn't affect my milk supply at all and I also used to express. I didn't find it painful at all (except on perhaps days 3/4...get the nipple cream in!) and really loved it...but I do know of other Moms who felt uncomfy or didn't like it and I can't see any point in making you and baby uncomfy and upset just because you feel you "have to" breastfeed...(God, I'd get lynched if I posted this elsewhere on MN!). It's yur choice and really depends on how things go once baby is here...I think it's awful that people are made to feel bad for wanting whats best for themselves and baby, with a newborn baby you don't need any extra stress!...have a go and see how you feel is my advice!
Not long to wait now Jackstini!

munz · 02/09/2005 13:10

munz · 02/09/2005 13:29

OP posts:
munz · 02/09/2005 13:30

Lizzylou · 02/09/2005 13:31

You gilrs are mean...all we have in the house is fruit!!!! I want chocolate cake and cheesecake!

swiperfox · 02/09/2005 13:31

i'd have thought so. I think it's like the idea with mayo and ice cream - you can't eat 'home made' but you can eat shop ones because they are cooked properly and safe

swiperfox · 02/09/2005 13:32

you can eat frozen ice cream but not fresh ice cream so must be the same idea

munz · 02/09/2005 13:34

i'll have a look at the box I think.

I've got a juicy nectarine. It doesn't look so good now chocolate cake has been mentioned.

munz - bf hurt me for two weeks - and then it was er sort of nice! It can all get a bit stressful especially with some other mums at groups who may have strong views on it all. I think second-timers on here would probably say just do what ever you like and that makes you happy and relaxed.

OF - take care. Hope to se eyou on here again soon.

RosiePosie · 02/09/2005 18:11

Last post on breastfeeding ( unless anyone else brings it up ), just to answer Munz' question. I can't tell you how it feels, it's such an intensely personal thing. It varies from woman to woman, and with each baby. With DS, I didn't get on with it, but out of guilt I struggled on and mixed breast and formula for four months. With dd, it was a piece of cake - I was lucky. Believe me, if I'd struggled too much I wouldn't have continued for as long as I did. I knew the first few weeks, it would be time consuming, but I was lucky in that I didn't have any other problems - no pain, engorgement, cracked nipples etc. So, just give it a go, if you hate it and don't want to continue - fine, but you might be surprised and find it lovely and easy - you tend to only hear about the horror stories, sometimes it's a piece of cake.

swiperfox · 02/09/2005 18:13

Hi all

Had my docs appt this afternoon which turned out to be a bit of a let down. The doctor was about 18 and useless for a start!! I told him I didn't know the date of my LMP but knew i was probably 8 weeks. So he took it from the date of the last period that I do know which was around 13th june, which heh said makes me due around 15th March - which is all wrong, i'm sure. Then he tells me that Southampton don't do an early scan, they only do one scan at 17 weeks and they don't generally let you see a midwife/book in til 12-14 weeks!!! So I'm really p'd off. Not only will i now not know my dates for weeks and weeks, but if they date me from the period he has written down and i get a scan based on that it's going to be too small to tell the sex.
Does anyone know if they'll let me go back for another scan when i really am 17 weeks?

poppyh · 02/09/2005 18:49

Dont they offer a nuchal scan?i thought this had to be done earlier than 17 wks to test for Downs.Although i may be wrong.
Anyone else feeling really nauseous?!Must be the only one who feels ill at the thought of cheesecake!!And its normally one of my favourites!!

munz · 02/09/2005 18:56

SF u're in southampton? i'm from portsmouth don't know about the scan's there hon, could u perhaps change dr's, or try to see the m/w b4 12 weeks?

thanks for sharing all your thoughts on BF with me, still lots to decide.

pop - didn't have cheesecake in the end - opted for bangers and mash instead

anyone else watchin most haunted tonight?

OP posts:
Lizzylou · 02/09/2005 18:59

OOH Bangers and Mash.....yum!
I just want whatever anyone else is having!
PoppyH, actually I feel better this week, less sicky and a bit more energy...so hopefully you will too soon! BUT I could eat a horse!
