SF - don't worry hon, I had it to until about 2 weeks ago, it will pass.

Thanks RP - I have heard mine - was about 85 this morning as stressed! I will try again after a lot of water. Incidentally bottled water is the only thing I want to drink at the moment - seem to be having more aversions than cravings. Whizzed round Tesco yesterday as just the look/smell of some foods making me queasy. LOL at your posh cravings today.

Lizzylou my doppler was about 70 quid on Ebay too - not sure if bought off same seller as RP. Think they are about 25 per month to hire but I figured on using it for more than 3 months and re-selling

SF - feeling for you re sleeping - are you (or anyone else) having to sleep in a bra yet?

munz · 30/08/2005 13:59

lol@rp's cravings not really had many my self (well nothing that's made me run to the shops) nuvver quick Q, our mum had next to no symptoms with me and only cravings with DB then 2 really quick/easy births - am I just wishful in hoping mine will be as well as so far my sysmptoms have been v manageable is it a genetic thing like strech marks is ment to be??

jack - yes I do, and I must say what a god send it is! do u ? hopefully the doppler will work in the next week or so, don't forget to lie on the sofa and put ur legs over the end - least that's how my M/W did mine.

MUnz...sad to say but it doesn't really follow...My MOm had awful pregnancies, she was constantly sick (for 7mths with me and 8 mths with my Bruv) and had to be hospitalised and put on a drip, whereas I was fine really last time and Ok so far(x fingers!)....she has loads of stretchmarks (I have almost none) and she had really quick and (relatively) easy births (DS took over 48 hours and ended up in a ventuouse delivery)...but then after those pregnancies she bloody well deserves it!
That said my Stepsisters both had really quick and easy (again, relatively) births and their Mom did too...so keep everything crossed!

RosiePosie · 30/08/2005 14:17

It can vary completely with each pregnancy for the same woman too. My first two pregnancies and births have been completely different.

Lizzylou · 30/08/2005 14:19

Me too RP, I had no sickness/nausea last time and sore boobs practically from the minute of conception!
I am hoping that I continue to be lucky re: stretchmarks!

munz · 30/08/2005 14:23

well hopefully i'll be lucky with the strech marks, thing - gonna get my baby moisturiser out, the labour part's really daunting for me thou as this is the first one. - not lookin forward to that bit!

Oh Munz, it really isn't as bad as you think it will be...us women are fab, strong creatures and it's what we're made for...in any case, gas and air and epidurals are fab!

Lizzylou · 30/08/2005 14:27

RE: Stretchmark creams, Palmers do a fab Cocoa butter one which is great and works better than the more expensive ones imo.

munz · 30/08/2005 14:28

palmers - where do u get that one from boots? was hoping to get in there early so would minimise them iycwim.

OP posts:
Jackstini · 30/08/2005 14:32

Munz - great tip re legs over sofa - will try that later.

I am trying Bio-oil to combat the stretchmarks forming. If I do get them it is actually a scar reducer too - one of my friends got rid of her stretchmarks with this stuff after the birth.

Lizzylou · 30/08/2005 14:33

They do it in all chemists I think, Boots will deffo have it. It is specifically for stretchmarks, I know a girl at work who used it to help fade her stretchmarks and it worked really well.....I am going to start after my scan...I used it early last time too

Lizzylou · 30/08/2005 14:33

OOH, Jackstini, what is Bio-oil, where do you get it from and is it pricey?

munz · 30/08/2005 14:38

ooh yes bio oil where can u get it? was going to start fairly soon as well. (and the pelvic floor exc's as i've noticed ahem a slight leakage some times with pee,

OP posts:
Jackstini · 30/08/2005 14:53

I get it from the chemist & pay 6.99 but it lasts quite a while. Think you can get it through the internet too \link{www.bio-oil.info}

munz · 30/08/2005 14:59

will have a look,

one of the girls in the factory thinks i'm showing my tummy's rounding she recons

Munz, it's natural to be scared of labour, even if it's not your first. I found both times though, that although I was terrified at the prospect, once it gets going the fear goes out the window and you just get on with it. I just tell myself that it's what women do, and usually more than once! You'll surprise yourself at how strong and brave you can be. I'm actually looking forward to having a good puff on the G&A again, I think it's fabulous stuff.

munz · 30/08/2005 15:48

lol, I can see me and DH having a domestic in the birthing room over the G&A, he's really into the stuff after he had an op years ago! lol.

Hello ladeez

OF - take care - we are thinking of you.

I know a Saxon!! He is three and is very nice. So, maybe it is not such a strange idea and it won't be too popular. We like Tom but we know loads - what shall we do?!!! We could pick another name and there could be millions of those too!!

Lizzylou · 30/08/2005 16:11

NG, really, do you??? I won't tell my DH as I like the name George far better and I think our parents would crown us if we chose Saxon! LOL.
I love the name Tom, it has always been my fave boys name...was devastated when DH's cousin called his son Tom and knew we couldn't have the name, but it is DS's middle name. I don't know of any Thomas' round here either! Whatever name you choose (except poss Saxon??!) you run the risk of someone else being called it, but go with what you want! (I will be jealous tho!)

RosiePosie · 30/08/2005 16:22

I'm basing my name choices on how popular they are in my son's preschool ( or school, as he is starting in 2 weeks time ). Thomas is very popular, there are four - including my ds. If there is more than one, we're not having it! So no to Jack, George ( sorry! ), James, Amy, emily, megan, and probably a few others!

Lizzylou · 30/08/2005 16:30

I know George is really popular at the mo...in fact, DS's best friend at nursery is called George! V confusing for him and if I could think of another name that went with our surname and we could both agree on I would choose another....mind you, we completely changed at about 30 weeks for DS, so you never know...all those hormones in later pregnancy might just inspire us!

munz · 30/08/2005 16:32

actually b4 I decide on any names I ask mum if she's taught one by that name and then trust what she recons about them!

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 30/08/2005 16:41

We just couldn't think of anything for for DD, even after we knew it was going to be a girl after the 20 week scan, we just couldn't decide. Half an hour after she was born though, DH suggested the name and we both said yes, And that was it! This time around I'm 90 percent sure what we're going for - Francis for a boy, Hannah for a girl.

desperatehousewife · 30/08/2005 19:22

Oldfool - really hope you are alright and that you are taking it easy.

hi everyone - i've been away for the bank hols and have missed my daily check-ins with you all. Hope you are all ok.

I had my 12 week nuchal scan today - was v.v.nervous. But all went brilliantly - active little thing! I can't believe it was all ok - really can't - it feels very real now. Heard the heartbeat which was amazing.

My tummy is huge as well - particularly by the end of the day (I agree, bedtime is actually a bit uncomfy now! with big tummy hanging!)

Told DS (aged 3) the day before the scan to prepare him as he was coming to the scan too. He was so excited - it was a magical moment seeing his reaction. He keeps referring to it as "my baby" - that just happens to be in mummy's tummy!

Feeling very very happy and very relived. Still feeling bit grim though - sicky and tired. Humph!
