Hope everyone good today.

munz · 19/09/2005 10:21

sorry pop - i'm thinking of swiper fox - ur names arn't even similar!

newgirl · 19/09/2005 13:38

DHw - it is horrible having to fight your corner - I had to do that last time round - our hospital closed and I didn't want to go to the one they booked for me - it caused such a stink. I could have really done without the stress. I think it all added to me being really blue afterwards too. Sometimes I think that the professionals lose sight that we are hormonal women who need LOADS of TLC! My new attitude is that the pregnant lady is the expert anyway - I am going to take everything the pros say to me with a large pinch of salt!

Welcome chellebelle!!

Coats - I made do with coat flapping open and lots of jumpers last time - probably looked crap but don't think I cared that much!! Not sure what to do this time round! Like the idea of large wrap around cardies - so chic!. When it gets cold I'm a lazy bugger and get in the car anyway!!!

My friend just got a bargain padded rain jacket from tchibo in a large size and it covers her 8 month bump beautifully - £12.99!!

Frizbe · 19/09/2005 13:59

Cool thanks for the coat advice, off to check it out!! they are online aren't they?? durrr....

swiperfox · 19/09/2005 14:11

Hello all! Just popping in to say hello. I'm having a mumsnet flounce at the moment because i'm sick of all the bitching and someone having a go at every single thing that gets said!! Still coming into here though

Got a letter just now from the hospital saying 'Congratulations we have just had news of your pg......... we would like to arrange a booking in appointment with you on 13th October to discuss family history, previous pg's etc etc'

I will be 15 weeks!?!?!?! Is it just me or does that sound completely ridiculous to anyone else?!

munz · 19/09/2005 14:18

SF - yes does to me - get onto them now and say it's unacceptable being put back a nd put back all the time.

no one's being funny towards u in particualr are they?

OP posts:
swiperfox · 19/09/2005 14:21

I might have to ring them. I've got an appointment with the doc on THursday so I might just half lie and say I have no idea how far I am and see if that gets them doing something!!

It's nothing in particular - just noticed it's been getting bitchy lately. Then today I did a search on Swiper and someone on the December club thread was saying they were fuming with me because I said it was crap having a baby on xmas day! (dd's birthday) But didn't say it on the actual thread - just where I wouldn't read it!

munz · 19/09/2005 14:24

yes I'd do that tbh - that's nasty of the person in question isn't it. how rude. (((hugs)))

and we'll not be bitchy on this thread to each otehr (not whilst there's the kitchen full of choccy and the virtual bar!) - I ahve choccy fetishes! he he. u just stop her girl - or i'll have to come and find u! [wicked pleding grin I don't wanna go to s'ton! I don't don't make me!] he he he

Was that from the Princess Anne, SF? It was over 3 years ago now, but when I was in Southampton I just say the MW through the GP surgery - doesn't your surgery have a midwife attending? If not, any chance of changing to a surgery that does? I don't think it's acceptable really. And the hospital is such a trek for you too - especially if you don't drive - I certainly wouldn't fancy bus-ing it up there just for antenatal appointments. Seriously, I would consider changing doctor's surgeries to one that has a MW. I don't know if the system has changed all over the city though, but for city that size, I wouldn't have thought every single antenatal appointment would be held at the hospital. Sorry, I'm rambling!

swiperfox · 19/09/2005 14:27

hehe! I think I'll just avoid the rest of mn for a little while til i'm caaaaaalm!!

we bought dd a jar of choccy spread about 3 days ago and it's nearly all gone!!

Blimey speaking of dd i shoulds be gone to get her from school!!!! oops!!

RosiePosie · 19/09/2005 16:08

yay! I just won a poncho on eBay . Just a pointless bit of info I thought I'd share with you all!

munz · 19/09/2005 16:44

yay!! quick Q RP - how long did the nappies take to come to u? did u end up paying the £150 (which incl the discount) or £150 then they refunded the discount back to you?

OP posts:
munz · 19/09/2005 16:55

NG - did u see our Mr Eclceston at work? - OMG he's so hot - got a real thing for him again right now - ooooooooooooh er!

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 19/09/2005 17:08

My naps came within a few days munz - but they were in stock. If you ordered stuff that wasn't in stock, it might take a while ( Tots bots are running behind with their orders right now ). When did you order them? Maebh refunded me my discount - but she owed me anyway because I'd previously ordered stuff from her and then changed my mind. Are you waiting for a refund then? If you've got any problems, email her - I've always found her to be very friendly and helpful. If she's overlooked anything, just let her know - I'm sure she'll sort it out for you.

oneofeach · 19/09/2005 17:14

Hi everyone, I haven't had a chance to read through all the messages but I see everyone is still really chatty etc which is great. I've been on hols, had a fab time, have to say that I did miss having a drink but it's a small price to pay. DS/DD also had a ball and it was lovely watching them play together etc. Well I'm 16 weeks now and starting to wear maternity stuff. Does anyone else find they just look so much more pregnant in the maternity stuff? I want everyone to know now. I can't believe the weeks are flying by, it's countdown to the big scan soon! Will read all the messages properly soon.

munz · 19/09/2005 17:30

OFE - yes I look like i'm wearing a tent now! lol.

RP - gonna place the order in the morning - in that case I might well email to say don't bother refunding us, just make up the refunded amount with boosters and nippas etc, or an extra nappy or something. was after the fluffles nippa multi pack - hopefully it will be in stock - was assumin would have to wait a wek or so.

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 19/09/2005 17:40

It says the nippa ones are in stock, BUT - the 10 percent discount ends today!! Can you order it this evening?

swiperfox · 19/09/2005 17:42

Hiya RP - the midwife is meeting me at the docs for the ante-natal appt but the letter was from the Princess Ann hosp - what's it like there?

I'm so confused with it all!! I can't understand why they leave it til practically halfway through the pg to book you in!! Will have to play it up on Thurs I think!!!

RosiePosie · 19/09/2005 17:50

Yes, definately make a fuss, SF. I think you have to if you're getting a poor service on the NHS. You don't get anywhere being meek and mild! I was booked in at 10 and 11 weeks with the 2 pregnancies I had in Southampton, and it was all done through the surgery, not the hospital.

Princess Anne's is fine . Quite large and busy ( it's right next door to the general hospital, but in a seperate building ). I did feel a bit overlooked and ignored whilst I was there, BUT it was my first very very long labour and then I had to stay in for a week whilst ds had phototherapy for jaundice. I think I spent too long in there! I know lots of people who have not had any problems there at all.

swiperfox · 19/09/2005 17:53

Glad to hear the hosp is ok - for some reason i'm more scared this time than the first two!!!!

swiperfox · 19/09/2005 18:12

Just to let you all know i'm going back to my old name of Zephyrcat on MN. Hope it's not too confusing

chellebelle · 19/09/2005 18:20

Is Princess Anne's the one that's on "Babe in the Woods" - the birthing programmee on Discovery Home and Health that follows mum's who were going to give birth at a birthing centre that's on the edge of the new forest?

Cadmum · 19/09/2005 18:36

Zephyr... Sorry that they are giving you such a rough time. I simply don?t understand since the person was asking for an opinion and you offered yours (as a mother with experience in this particular area). MN can be a really strange place sometimes. I fully understand why you are changing your name; I was shocked to see that they are still at it on the due in Dec thread. Sad.

munz · 19/09/2005 18:37

sw - ok then.

rp - have emailed them and asked if I can do it tomorrow and they said it's fine and she'll hold it for me till tomorrow.

OP posts:
Zephyrcat · 19/09/2005 18:43

I did try not to bite but couldn't help it!! Will stay on here only from now on!! Could just be one of those hormonal days lol

I did a terrible thing the other day - I've got a craving for subway steak & cheese subs so I dragged the kids all the way into town on the bus for one then all the way back again!! Still on the cod roe too...yum!
