youngblowfish · 18/08/2010 10:31

Welcome AprilMeadow and LadyGoneGaga! Lovely to see the list growing! Lady, it is so nice to see another graduate from the April bus, congratulations!

Sprinkling sticky baby dust all around!

LadyGoneGaga · 18/08/2010 11:25

Thanks ybf We got two more BFP's this morning...wonder if they'll be along?

How are you feeling?

MrsWajs · 18/08/2010 11:36

Hi!

Wonder if I can be added to the list too?

Got my BFP on 13th August, according to Dr I am about 6+2, due on 10th April but I don't think I'm quite as far on as that. Didn't get a BFP until CD 41 of a usual 32 and today I used a CB doigital and got Pregnant 2-3 weeks. Anyone any ideas??
Think I'll be nearer the end of April anyway but hey ho means I'll get my scan earlier.

Tis also my first baby and I'm also from Scotland!

kitstwins · 18/08/2010 14:49

Hello all and welcome to the latest 'joiners'. It's getting to be a full list. I'm pathetically looking forward to the next month 'rollover' and seeing a 'due in May' thread start!

Had my 7 week scan at the clinic today and detected one baby with a nicely ticking heartbeat. Spot on for its dates, although my due date has been revised to 6th April. Immaterial as it won't arrive on that date, but I've amended the due date list accordingly.

I made the sonographer have a good look for any second lurking baby but it seems the embryo didn't split and I'm in for a singleton pregnancy - yay! Have a chance at scoring a VBAC at least which another twin pregnancy would probably have well and truly suckered. Next scan at around 11 weeks. I got offered another one at 9 weeks by the clinic but we're off on holiday for a couple of weeks around that time and so it seems sensible to just wait a few more days when I get back until my nuchal scan. Seeing my GP tomorrow and then got my first appointment with my consultant next Wednesday. It's beginning to feel a bit real as my symtoms have now kicked in - extreme knackeration and vague nausea. Last time morning sickness exploded at 8 weeks so we'll see how I get on this time. I'm armed with oatcakes and Jacobs crackers!!

Have just been for my blood test - ugh! I hate those things, they can never find a vein! Just having a cuppa then do some work - self-employed so can't afford to take it easy!

Hope everyone's doing OK.

Anyone in the Essex area, btw?

Sunshine28 · 18/08/2010 16:33

Hi Jenduck - I'm ok thanks. Hope your blood test wasn't too bad.

I guess I will expect one at my first midwife appointment?

Have just heard that the sale of our flat and purchase of house will be completed next week (all being well) which is fantastic news and just told one of my two bosses about my pregnancy. She was really supportive and I feel very relieved.

Hope all is you ladies are having a good date :)

Kitsywins, great news all around! Because of your references to splitting embryos I have to ask, are your twins identical? Sorry for being nosy, I just find the idea of having twins really fascinating (although, no doubt, it must be completely exhausting).

LadyGoneGaga, what an incredibly lucky bus! I am really happy for Wombat as well, I hope she and the other grads will be here soon. I am actually having a really good day today, thank you for asking :). After a week and a half of getting used to the thought of being pregnant and feeling completely exhausted most of the time, I am finally feeling like myself again. I think ms might kick in soon, so I am trying to enjoy this sudden boost of energy while it lasts and just relax into it :). How about you?

Jenduck, I also have shy blood vessels. When I give blood, the nurses always call a doctor to find a suitable one, otherwise it can be miserable for everybody involved. I hope you feel better soon.

takethatlady · 18/08/2010 16:41

Hello ladies congratulations to all of you who've had BFPs since I was last on here [waves back at mrswajs and sends a big good luck hamper to her]

I'm afraid, however, you're going to have to take me off the list as I had an early miscarriage today. I was only 4+2 (according to me, though 7+2 according to date of last period) so it was early days. I felt my symptoms vanishing (though I couldn't really tell you what my symptoms were in the first place ... weird how you just know your body feels different). Took a temp this morning and it was low so I did a test and it said 'not pregnant'. Did a Tesco test too and it still showed positive, but it must be residual hormones because I did another digi at lunchtime and it was a BFN and I started to bleed while I waited for the result to show.

Spent about 3 hours crying, but have since consumed about 6000 calories and feel much better [waits for massive comedown from the sugar high]. It's much better it happened now than later on, and at least we know we can get pregnant. Sticking chin up and hoping it stays there.

GOOD LUCK to all of you! Baby dust all round, and congratulations on your April babies :) Hopefully I'll catch the May bus asap...

youngblowfish · 18/08/2010 16:54

takethalady, can I just send you a huge hug? I'm so sorry, I really hope you'll be joining another antenatal thread soon! Thinking of you very warmly xxx

MrsWajs · 18/08/2010 17:07

Oh takethatlady I'm so sorry to hear that - big hugs for you.

And thanks for adding me to the list youngblowfish :)

kitstwins · 18/08/2010 17:27

Takethatlady - really sorry to hear your news

youngblowfish - actually my twins are non-identical - the fabulous and magic result from my first IVF cycle when we put (and argued for) two embryos back. Twins were the best news then as we were really expecting it to fail and any baby was a blessing. However, second time around I'm older (I'll be 38 when this baby is born) and I had a very difficult pregnancy and caesarean last time which took me a long time to recover from so I'm really not sure whether my body could 'do' another multiple pregnancy. Although we only put one embryo back this time I'm of the view that Mother Nature occasionally likes to show who's boss and there was a chance the embryo could split. I was certainly worried about the possibility, probably because I really wanted a singleton pregnancy this time. I'd have taken news of a multiple pregnancy on the chin (with a bit of swearing no doubt) and at least this time I'd have known what I was doing, but it would have been hard all round. The nice thing is that this baby will be from the same 'batch' as the girls so almost, almost their 'triplet'.

youngblowfish · 18/08/2010 17:42

Kitstwins, thank you for taking the time to explain everything to me :). One of my best childhood friends had twins after a singleton pregnancy and had a rotten time. Her girls are now 2 and healthy and happy, but she was bed-ridden for the best part of nine months, violently sick for the first few and also ended up having a CS in the end. By comparison, her first pregnancy was a breeze and I really hope you will find it easier this time round as well. How lovely for you to be carrying your girls' 'triplet', I really hope it all works out.

dopeydinah · 18/08/2010 18:05

Everything seems very "real" for everyone here - consultants, midwives and scans-a-go-go!
I feel a bit like it's all pretend at the moment - no dates for scans, no morning sickness, not even a proper EDD!
I do keep finding myself thinking about names though, (so not jumping the gun there at all!!).

salsarocks · 18/08/2010 18:06

Takethatlady, I'm really sorry to hear your news. I will be thinking of you and wishing you the best of luck, x

BeetleBaby · 18/08/2010 18:15

Takethatlady my thoughts are with you, and I hope you're on the May thread soon.

My nausea was particularly bad today, I must of been a pretty good shade of green as people kept asking if I was ok and should I be at home. Thankfully there were a couple of others in the office not feeling 100% so the 'there must be a little bit of a bug going round' line worked quite well Wink

Having said that I think people are starting to get suspicious, mostly because I'm drinking so little tea (in true Yorkshire fashion I am addicted)!

I suppose I better wash up before I crash out for the evening, though today is the first time in about three weeks I haven't come home and been asleep by 6.30!

MissWooWoo · 18/08/2010 18:29

really sorry to hear your sad news takethatlady take care of yourself x

kitstwins · 18/08/2010 20:34

Dopeydinah actually I'm with you on the 'pretend' status. It still doesn't feel real to me either in spite of my scan today. I feel quite exhausted but there are no visible signs of pregnancy and instead of being able to revel in my pregnant status I find myself bogged down and distracted by the demands of 'Real Life'. Plus, with one of my twins pinging around at 3am last night banging on about a lost teddy, I'd probably be exhausted anyway!! Going from last time, I don't think it will feel like it's really happening until I can feel a bump.

Either way, I'd forgotten how freaky the lack of symptoms are in the beginning. Doubtless will all be eating our words in a few weeks and begging for a break from feeling rough!!

Dug out the remainder of my maternity clothes last night. Useless, as all from a summer pregnancy!

nitnat84 · 18/08/2010 20:49

Hi AprilMeadow- good to see you on here. How are things with your little one? Hasn't time flown?!! It will be their 1st birthday's soon. Crazy.

LadyGoneGaga · 18/08/2010 23:00

youngblowfish feeling ok so far really. Boobs a bit sore. Go a bit dizzy when standing up too quick. But not too bad. Think nausea and extreme fatigue kicked in more like 6 weeks last time and only 4 by my dates still.

kitstwins is very odd to all intents and purposes feeling normal but knowing you have a huge secret quietly growing inside you!

kitstwins · 19/08/2010 06:58

youngblowfish I feel for your friend! Twins were really hard, and that was with all the help we could scrape together (great - knackered and broke!). I think the worse bit is when they give you a caesarean and then send you home to look after them. I vividly remember one of the midwives saying "now take it easy" as I shuffled off home, barely able to stand upright. How she kept a straight face for that one I'll never know!! I think the first six months was all about holding on by our fingertips and the next six months about just getting through. But a year onwards has seriously been great. Everything has seemed a doddle (I merely have to compare it to the first two weeks at home!)!! I feel so lucky I had twins.

Ladygonegaga yes it's strange carrying (literally) this big (little) secret around with you. I got told I looked "tired" yesterday - a euphamism for "awful" no doubt so I wonder if any eagle-eyed friend or colleagues will twig when confronted by my daily and increasing hideousness 'tiredness'!

jenduck · 19/08/2010 08:31

So sorry to hear of your news Takethatlady. You sound like you are being positive, though, which I am sure will help.

I am recovered from the blood test, thanks, just felt tired yesterday afternoon & had a sore arm. Ordeal not so bad to sit through as had to take DS in as no babysitter, so could concentrate on him. Sunshine28, I don't know how it works where you are, but I haven't seen a midwife yet. I had my booking in with GP on Monday at 7+4 & she gave me a form to go & get a blood test (drop-in centre here for blood testing, no appointments, just turn up, take a ticket & wait your turn) & also pots for wee (sorry if TMI!) which I need to drop in at surgery. Should see midwife next week & so by then they should have results of blood tests. May be different in your area though (I am in Mid-Essex)?

I think (hope!) I felt my stomach was a bit firmer yesterday! Just below my belly-button. DH reckoned it was too. Could be just imagining things though? But I know with second baby you show a lot sooner, & I started wearing maternity clothes around 12 weeks last time (am 8 weeks tomorrow).

Also, just found out some good news, for those of us due in the first couple of weeks of April anyway. The government is scrapping the £190 Health in Pregnancy grant in January 2011. To qualify you must be 25 or more weeks pregnant at 1st January 2011. I (according to current dates) will be 27 weeks so just squeeze in there! Yay! Every little helps Smile

Anyway, have a good day all, will check in later!
