Bran's non-birth announcement

We have been matched with a little boy at long last and I am going to be a mum. He is less than a year old and in his photos he is absolute adorable. Hopefully he will be living with us from early May.

Some people may have noticed that I haven't been on Mumsnet very much recently (or maybe not), mostly because I've been working like mad trying to get all my projects handed over before I go on adoption leave. I've also been turning the study into a nursery and buying everything that a small boy will need, along with a million things he'll probably never use. However I expect that will change and I will be on Mumsnet every nap-time asking all sorts of questions and irritating everyone by never searching the archives first.

fantastic news!!!!! dp and I were approved as foster carers for a permanency placement a few years ago but weren't lucky enough to have any children placed with us. Life's turned out differently these days and I'm so pleased for you!!!

motherinferior · 14/04/2005 14:50

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks everyone - I can't post his name as it might make him quite recognisable, but you can call him Branboy . Weirdly, although his name is quite old-fashioned in the UK, it's very similar to dh's brother and exactly the same as dh's BIL. Who'd have thought that Branboy would be such a popular name in Malaysia.

The good news is that the hand-over is probably going to start on Wednesday, with a planning meeting on Tuesday first. He might even have moved in with us by the end of the month. Of course that means it's panic stations now to get the nursery set up. A friend was going to do a big shopping trip with me on Wednesday because her son is almost the same age so she knows what's worthwhile and what isn't, but I guess we'll just get by with what we have and get the rest later.

Only one more day of work left, my mind really isn't on the job anymore so goodness knows what kind of chaos I'll leave behind.
