We have been matched with a little boy at long last and I am going to be a mum. He is less than a year old and in his photos he is absolute adorable. Hopefully he will be living with us from early May.

Some people may have noticed that I haven't been on Mumsnet very much recently (or maybe not), mostly because I've been working like mad trying to get all my projects handed over before I go on adoption leave. I've also been turning the study into a nursery and buying everything that a small boy will need, along with a million things he'll probably never use. However I expect that will change and I will be on Mumsnet every nap-time asking all sorts of questions and irritating everyone by never searching the archives first.

Just don't ask where to buy baby pasta, bran, OK?

How absolutely fantastic - even more exciting than having a new baby - very happy for you all and look forward to hearing lots about him.

QueenEagle · 13/04/2005 19:49

This is fantastic news - congratulations.

In a previous life I was a foster carer and have often worked with adoptive parents in the transition period from me to them.

This brings back many happy memories of the children who have moved on from me to their forever mummies and daddies, some I have cared since they were tiny babies until the age of 2. Heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time for me.

All the best for a very happy future!
